"Katherine Mulligan with the News!" said the famous news reporter on the TV. "A new hero has sprung into town! Yes, a new superhero. For i, Katherine Mulligan, would never lie to any of you. If it was a loe, then I would never report it to you on air." She showed footage of what happened earlier.
Void surely made quite an entrance to town in that kind of fashion. It was recordings from people with their phones out, and this was really juicy to show on TV.
"Who exactly is this Void person?" Katherine placed one hand on her other one to look more professional in her line of work. "Is he a hew savior for Royal Woods? Or is there more to this mysterious, gloomy-looking youth? On top of that; who are these mercenary soldiers that are disturbing the peace of our lovely town and way of life? Police are already investigating according to recent interviews, though they have found no answer who sent them in the first place."
Lori and Lincoln were sitting on the couch with the rest of their family, and smiled at how the day was saved once again by the side of good. "Looks like you made a new friend, big sis." Luna pointed
"Yeah, we'd been toast if not for Void coming to help us." Lincoln took a few bites of his popcorn.
"I would literally call it a lucky break." Lori smiled. "Otherwise, we would have both got bullets in our bodies."
"But we still don't know who thise evil soldiers are, snd who they are working for." Rita pointed. "Whoever sent those guys on you really doesn't like you."
"We got that, mom. If the police can't find the person responsible for this, then me and Lori can." Lincoln proudly pointed. "It can't be that hard to track an evil mastermind down with a little detective work."
"Or some interrogation." said Lucy. "Interrogating always works on the bad guys."
"No always, gothic sibling." said Lisa. "As much as i hate to say it, polygraphs to not always tell the truth, unless it is created by yours truly." she pointed at herself. "My kind of polygraph never tells a lie. And some human beings have too much of a strong will to break in any kind of torture method."
"It's not like you can just grab one of those baddies and bring him here strapped in a wheelchair and try your lie detector. He might put up a fight and not talk at all. You cannot convince some people that their hair is on fire." said Lynn. "Or you might not get nothing at all."
"Come on, our military is the strongest in the world." said Lana. "They can break through the toughest minds in interrogations."
"How do you know that?" asked Lola
"Ummm... just a random fact i know."
"Lana," said Rita in a flat but stern voice "Did you play Call to Arms even when we told you not to?"
"Nope!" Lana nodded her head innocently. However, his parents were not buying it, and their arms were crossed. At last, Lana sighed and bowed in defeat with her eyes closed. "Yes."
"Lana, me and your mother have told you a hundred times before,"
"I know, dad. I'm too young to play that game right now." Lana sighed. "But it looks so much fun to play."
"We've been over this honey, there are certsin things you have to wait for when you're older." Said Lynn Sr. "Ok?"
"Got it." The tomboy sighed in defeat.
"Well come on, we can just literally wait and see what happens while we search for the dirtbag." Said Lori. "Let's just celebrate for now."
"Of course, it's still a good idea to practice your profound superpowers, eldest sibling." Lisa reminded her.
"I know, i know."
The entire Loud family were not the only people watching the news, for in a far distance, there was an angry and baffled man. It was Christopher Barrymore himself. After what happened to those mercenary soldier that he had hired to take care of Lori, he was irritable and even threw a glass of champagne against the wall, breaking it instantly worh a loud crash.
"Who is this kid?" He said to himself in a frustrating voice. "How did he get those powers and who does he think he is ruining my perfect moment to get rid of those heroes?"
"Ok, Mr. Barrymore." Said Snow Flaker. "No one saw this creepy person come into the picture. This... Void kid caught us by surprise."
Silent for a moment, the millionaire took a breath to cool himself off, and replied: "You're right. And i paid a lot of good money for those underlings i had hired to keep their mouths shut about me. Money can influence people to do the unthinkable after all."
"Very, very true. It is the power of the almighty dollar." Said Flaker with a smile. "Though what happens if one lf them finds out? A weak-minded mercenary that would be paid more than you gave him to rat you out?"
"Not to worry." He turned his back on the icy villain and looked out the window. "Like you mentioned before, money is all that many people care about and wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world."
"Well the only question is: what can we do about Void? The way he single-handily teleported your men to the prison does not mean a good sign for you."
"I have my ways." Christopher sneered as he looked back to hos cohort. "I am one of the richest people in the world after all." He pulled out a silver dollar from his back pocket to prove his point. "Friends in high places, those sort of things. Heh. It's amazing how much influence money can place in one person's mind.
"Well when i find Volcano Girl again, i'll be sure to give her a.. proper retribution for putting me in jail."
"just wait until i have come up eith something smarter, Flaker. Then you can make your move against her." Barrymore put his silver dollar back in his pocket.
