"Looks like a worm face isn't backing down," he muttered, "he's challenging the king."
Godzilla roared again and Jörmungandr clicked loudly back. The two monsters charged at each other, buffeting the ship backwards with all the displaced water. Godzilla tried to grab the head of Jörmungandr but it was far too nimble, dogging around godzilla's hand and using the shark ridges on its back to inflict a gash on godzilla's shoulder.
The giant snake turned around and opened its mouth, relieving huge fangs that trailed vivid red poison in the water. It was about to bite Godzilla on the other shoulder when the king of the monsters turned his back sharply, giving the serpent a face full of sharpened bony plates.
Jörmungandr realled backwards and hissed again before getting wacked in the face by Godzilla's tail disorienting the creature. Zilla charged himself up and then blasted Jörmungandr, burning its upper body (I know it's a snake but you get what I mean) and disintegrating part of its eel like tailfin. However not all of the blue beam hit it's target, some shot past the snake and into the sea bed, kicking up loads of silt and sand into the water, rendering sight useless.
"Give me a monitor with the thermal and the atomic view." yelled Rick, "I don't want to miss this!"
Two of the monitors that surrounded the scientist switched to a view of the battle from a thermal camera and one that can sense radiation.
Jörmungandr was now circling godzilla and clicking every so often using the sonic pulses to locate its adversary in the murky water. The king of the monsters stood still, trying to get a bearing on where his foe was but unlike Jörmungandr, he could not see.
Suddenly, out of the murk, shot the world serpent. It was heading for Godzilla's shank , ready to inject its poison into the lizard's flesh but the king was ready. It grabbed Jörmungandr on the back of the head and slammed it into the mud.
The serpent's tale thrashed about like mad, inflicting many minor wounds on Godzilla with its sharp rigged back. It even tried to strangle Godzilla like a constrictor snake but Godzilla used his other hand and pulled the tail away from his neck and held it fast.
Soon Jörmungandr stopped resisting, sensing that the battle was lost. Godzilla let go of it, stepped back and looked down at the wounded titan at his feet, as if it was a misbehaving child.
Jörmungandr bowed its head to Godzilla and dimmed the lights in its feathery maine as a sign of submission. Godzilla snorted resentfully at the creature at his feet. He then turned and swam away.
"Did you get anything from that," asked the captain of the sub, looking over at Dr stanton.
"What do you think they pay me for?" replied the doctor snarkily.
