Some hours after she was patched up, Ava got changed and came out to see the others, saying "What did I miss?"
"Ava you're okay." Lloyd ran up worried.
"We heard what happened, you alright?" Kai asked.
"Not really, but I'll live.'' That's when she noticed it. "Where's Zane?"
"We lost contact with him a few hours ago at the teeth, we're still trying to find him." Nya replied.
"Gasp, I should have stuck with him." Ava looked down.
"You were hurt, there was nothing you could have done." Cole tried to comfort her.
That's when she heard crying "Is that a baby?"
"Yeah in the cabin, I'll explain later." Cole added.
"You can't leave a baby alone." Ava sighed as she headed to the cabin.
Once in there she looked to find what seemed to be a makeshift crib, with a crying baby in it.
"Aw, hey little one it's okay." She came over and held him in her arms, making sure to hold his head.
The little one sniffled as she gently rocked him "It's okay you're safe now."
Suddenly the ship stopped and Ava was confused, had they found Zane?
She rushed out to see what was going on and gasped, Zane was on a gurney as the others were taking him to the medbay.
"What happened to him?" Ava rushed over, looking horrified as his motionless state and lifeless eyes.
"We don't know but we're gonna see if we can get him patched up." Nya patted her back as they all headed into the medbay.
Zane was soon plugged into some machines, the situation with the baby was told to her during this.
Once that was done everyone looked on in worry as she tried to keep the baby from being able to see the scene, even though he seemed to be fussing to see. She just rocked and hushed him.
"How bad is it?" Lloyd asked Pixal.
"He has extensive damage to all systems. His neural net and cognitive cores suffered severe failures."
Ava felt her heart tighten, she didn't know much about technology, but…. "It's bad isn't it?"
"Can you save him?" Nya askes.
"I've diverted power to critical life functions. But Zane will have to do most of the work. He must reconfigure his system and reboot himself." Pixal explains.
"Isn't there anything we can do?" Harumi asked.
'Oh right, I owe her an apology.' Ava flinched, remembering what she had done earlier.
Lloyd spoke up, "We have to keep moving. Or the Sons of Garmadon will find us. They'll do anything to get their hands on the child?"
"I just don't get how a baby can be a key." Kai replied.
"I don't, either but that's what they said. They called him the key to the third mask." Cole added.
Ava growled saying "Scumbags."
After some shared thoughts it was agreed they'd have to leave Ninjago City, for now.
Ava had gone for a bathroom break and as she was going out she saw Harumi "Hey can we talk?"
"Of course."
"I wanted to say sorry for before. When I'm upset or hurt I really don't allow just anyone to get near me." Ava explains.
"I understand, it can be hard to trust sometimes."
"It's not that it's…" Ava stopped as they heard crying and they ran to the cabin.
The two entered the cabin to see the Ninja fighting about giving up their hood for a diaper and Harumi went to console the baby.
Ava was about to tear into them but Harumi calmed the baby down with singing.
As the baby settled Ava said "Wough, creepy lullaby."
"Ava!" Lloyd jumped.
"No, I understand it is pretty creepy." Harumi chuckles as she puts the baby down as he goes to sleep.
As Lloyd and Harumi left Ava glared at the ninja and said "Okay, time for some basic baby facts." the three gulp, oh boy.
Ava basically taught them what to do with a baby for what she assumed his age was, 3-5 months old.
"How do you know all this stuff?" Cole asks as Ava explains about swaddling.
"I have three nephews I've been helping out with since each was born. Trust me I have experience." Ava smirks.
"So that means you're the most qualified and we can just…" Jay tries to suggest.
"Don't even think it, babies are hard work and I'm still recovering from that hit. So I'm gonna need help." Ava glared.
The guys looked down, disappointed.
Ava rolled her eyes thinking 'Men.'
Ninjago
It was a little later and Cole was put in charge of watching the baby while Ava went to make some mashed bananas.
'Ugh I hate this smell, but this might be the only thing the kid can eat. I'm glad he didn't drink the cows milk. He is not old enough for that.'
As she headed to the cabin Cole ran past her saying "Ava watch him, thanks, bey!"
"Cole!" she glared, but then heard the baby sniffle. Heading in she grabbed him and set him in one arm as she grabbed a spoon and tried to feed him.
"Mmmm look nanas." she smiled as she held it up to him.
He looked upset but she said "I know it looks funny but try it." she put the spoon to his mouth and soon the little guy started gnawing at it.
She sighed, glad it worked. Ava wished they had more appropriate food for him but there was nothing on board she could give him.
'He'll be thirsty but water's out of the question.'
Babies needed to be six months old to drink water or they could die from it. She wasn't sure why but that's what she learned.
As she thought of a way to keep him hydrated, the others called her to the dining room. Seemed they had a plan.
They explained about the recording and the map that was on the baby.
"But why take the baby if they just wanted the map?" Ava frowned as she had her own dinner, Cole was now feeding the baby.
Cole had tried to give him tea but she stopped him. The baby looked angry about it.
"And why was the baby wrapped in a map?" Kai asked.
"I don't know, maybe they didn't have any diapers either." Cole replied.
"Looks too important to be used as a diaper." Ava frowned.
"This part here looks like it could be the central part of Ninjago." Harumi pointed out.
"And the X. You think the third oni mask could be hidden there?" Nya asked.
"It seems too much of a coincidence not to be." Ava adds.
"Primevals eye." Lloyd said in realization.
He told them about primevals eyes and about .
"I don't want to say it, but it sounds like the perfect place to hide something you don't want anyone to find." Nya said.
"Dangerous and uncharted, yup has 'hide ancient relics here,' written all over it." Ava nods.
"Ha, ha. Come here, you little sucker!" Jay exclaimed, chasing his meatball when he stabbed Kai in the hand.
Kai gasped as Cole covered the baby's eyes and Ava yelled as she covered her own eyes.
"Shudder. Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to…." Jay started as he tried to help.
But Kai stopped him, "Don't! Just….don't."
Ava didn't blame Kai as she said "That is one high pain tolerance."
"He's used to it from all the blacksmithing we did as kids." Nya tells her.
Nya went over and fixed Kai's hand, everyone thankful it had been taken care of and Jay finally got his meatball.
At that the Bounty's power went haywire and it shook, making everyone fall.
"Ack! Ow!" Ava exclaimed, still sore from before.
"What happened to the lights?" Kai asked.
At this, Lloyd ordered everyone to the bridge, as they entered Lloyd asked Pixal what was going on.
At first there was no response and everyone was panicking, the idea of it being a trap seemed to be very possible because of the backup generator not working.
Finally Pixal responded, calling out "Emergency! Emergency!"
Turns out something had gotten onto the ship through Zane and was overriding Pixal's systems!
Ava looked at Zane's open chest and gasped "Those scum." she glared.
Then Pixal told them something was coming at them.
"It is, Samurai X." Pixal said.
"Oh. He must be here to help us out." Cole said.
"I am afraid that is unlikely." Pixal replied.
"Why?" Lloyd asked.
"Because my system is overrun."
"You're making no sense Pixal. What are you talking about?" Kai asked.
"This would be a good time to make a minor confession. I am Samurai X."
At that everyone exclaimed about how it was impossible, Jay and Cole arguing about if Jay called it or not.
"Not the time!" Ava shouted at them.
That's when a laser hit them, and an engine blew out.
Nya spoke up, "The mech is targeting the second aft thruster. Lloyd if we lose the second…."
"I know, I know. We'll drop out of the sky like a brick." Lloyd replied.
"Not if I keep us in the air." Ava looked on with determination.
"You've never carried anything that big before." Lloyd looked worried.
"I have to at least try." Ava didn't waver.
"Alright then." Loyd said as he started to give orders.
Nya was to find the foright agent, Jay had to keep the lightning off them, and the rest of them had to fight.
Ava was worried about the baby being alone but all of them were needed if they were to survive.
They stared into the storm for a while until Lloyd called "Everyone be on alert."
Everyone drew their weapons, Ava brought out a pair of kunai, she felt it would be the best weapon for her as she could throw it with or without her powers.
Jay kept the lighting off them and then the mast was hit, it was too dark to see so Kai lit up the sky with his fire.
Lloyd spotted Pixal again and they began to fight, Lloyd shot at her as Ava tried to keep them steady in the storm. With one engine down and a mast busted they needed balance above everything.
She groaned, it wasn't easy, the ship was heavy and the storm was wild so pushing against it was harder than she had thought.
'Come on you can do it, the others are fighting you have to keep them steady.' she thought this as she stared at the group attacking the mech.
Nobody noticed the glare Harumi was giving her.
Ava never saw it coming, one moment she was doing all she could to keep the bounty stable, and then she felt something hit her behind the head so hard she blacked out.
Ninjago
Zane was finally awoken and he was really confused about what was going on, especially after having to destroy a robotic spider that had tried to harm Nya.
"What in the name of Ninjago is happening around here?" he asked.
Nya panted as she came over saying "Pixal." Zane looked confused as she continued "You kind of missed a lot."
"Foreign agent has been purged from my system. Commencing system reboot. In 30 seconds." Pixal replied.
Zane was glad to hear her, but asked "Where are the others?"
"Outside fending off Pixal and the elements." Nya replied.
"Wait, Ava was hurt before I was. Is she okay?" Zane jumped.
"She's doing better and trying to keep us floating." Nya smiled, seeing the worry in his face.
Outside the ninja were still fighting Pixal and none of them had noticed Ava had been knocked out.
As Nya and Zane were running out though, he did see her and gasped.
Rushing over he held her in his arms and asked "Ava?"
She said nothing though as the rain fell on her face, he took a scan and found that someone had hit her over the head.
'Did Pixal….?'
He didn't get to finish that thought as the thruster blew up and they began to fall.
Zane held on tight to her as they fell, Kai called "Ava we need ... .what happened to Ava!"
"She was hit over the head." Zane looked at Pixal a bit questioningly, he knew it wasn't her fault but he was still upset Ava had been hurt.
'Why am I feeling so strongly all of a sudden around Ava?' he frowned.
The team tried to come up with an idea on how to stay up, but the only one they could come up with was Nya slowing them down with the rain.
And soon they were slowing down and commign to a crash landing.
"Brace for impact!" Kai called.
Zane curled himself over Ava, sliding through the jungle and dibreas till they finally came to a stop.
Once everyone somewhat got their bearings Jay called "Everyone okay!"
They all groaned but then he heard a moan from under her and his eyes widened.
"Ava?"
"Ugh, my head. Who hit me?" Ava groaned.
"That is what I would like to know." Zane frowned.
As Everyone was gathering around Pixal, Nya said "Pixal, I thought you were working with Cyrus."
"I apologize for my deception, I had to keep my identity a secret to protect those I cared about. And I felt it was the best way for me to help find myself without outside sources interfering, I asked Zane to keep it a secret but it seemed to backfire." she replied.
"We understand Pixal, you needed time." Cole smiles.
"Pixal?" They all turned to Zane carrying Ava in his arms as he walked towards them.
"Zane, are you okay?" she asks.
"I am well but I must ask, were you the one who hit Ava over the head?"
"No, I do not remember that action while being controlled." Pixal replied.
"Maybe it was some debris in the wind." Kai added.
"No, my scans show she was hit in the head by the but of a sword." Zane frowns.
"So that's what hit me." Ava sighs.
"Hey you're up." Nya came up to check on her head.
"How's it looking doc?"
"You need a look over, some bandaging up and you'll be good as new." Nya smiled.
"Good to hear." Ava sighed.
"Zane, help me get her on the bridge." Nya said.
Zane nodded as they headed off.
Pixal looked on as she said "So that is your newest member?"
"Yeah that's Ava, ninja of wind. She's pretty cool, but she's kind of gotten a little beat up on the job." Jay flinches.
"She's doing good though, she saved the royal family and got herself into the SOG's lair by singing." Cole smirks.
Pixal nodded at this, as she looked to be contemplating.
"What about Lloyd and Harumi?" Kai suddenly spoke up.
"Lloyd can take care of himself and Harumi. We'll just have to figure out a way to find them." Cole said.
"They're most likely heading towards the mask, that's what I'd do." Jay pointed to himself.
"Then let's get to work." Kai looked on with determination as they prepared themselves for what was to come.
