Chapter 6
Meanwhile, back in the animated world of Auradon…
After witnessing Aurora's banishment by Maleficent and confronting the Mistress of all Evil herself, the three Good Fairies immediately alerted King Stefan and Queen Leah. Alarmed at what had happened, Stefan ordered Flora, Fauna and Merryweather to go and bring back Aurora. Prince Philip even offered to accompany the fairies in their search for Aurora. Philip's father King Hubert reluctantly agrees and instructs his son to be safe and careful. The young prince agreed.
Soon, the group headed up to the tower where Aurora had vanished. Using their magic, the fairies open the portal through the mirror. They go in first and Philip follows.
The women go flying through, falling into the magical water and all three shot right out of the manhole, startling the construction workers; who were about to close the manhole.
"What on earth…" One construction worker asked in disbelief.
"Oh, here we are!" Flora declared.
"Why, we're 3D!" Fauna exclaimed; shocked and amazed as she and Merryweather took in their appearances.
Flora, the leader of the group, is the tallest fairy. She has a pear-shaped face, platinum blonde hair (styled into a pompadour), brown eyes and fair skin. Flora wore a medieval-styled red gown, pointy red hat with a dark yellow veil and a red cape clipped with a yellow square.
Fauna, the middle fairy, is slightly shorter. She has an oval-shaped face, a fair skin complexion, light blonde hair (worn swept back in a bun) and brown eyes. While Flora and Merryweather are slightly larger, Fauna is the slimmest. Her outfit is like Flora's, but in a different color: a green gown, pointed green hat with a light-colored veil and green cape clipped with a green triangle.
Merryweather, the shortest fairy, is a full head shorter than Flora and Fauna. She has a pear-shaped face (like Flora's), fair skin, blue eyes and black hair. While Merryweather's ensemble is identical to Flora and Fauna's, it's in her signature color blue; right down to the hat, gown and cape. The cape is clipped with a blue circle. The veil from Merryweather's hat covers the entire back of her head.
"Where are we, exactly?" Merryweather asks, looking around.
"I don't know," Fauna answers. "This sure looks like a strange place."
"Sir, what is this place we're in?" Flora questioned.
"Las Vegas, Nevada; ma'am." One of the construction workers, Chuck replied.
"Hey, where's Philip?" Merryweather asked. "He was right behind us."
Before Fauna and Flora could respond, all three heard a male voice call out.
"Fear not, Princess Aurora! I will rescue you!"
Sure enough, Prince Philip popped out of the manhole. He lands on a metal circular contraption.
Philip is a dashing young man; with a slim, but fairly built physique, fair skin, brown eyes and brown hair. He wore a black, high-neck tunic with a red, short puffy sleeves and a grey turtleneck underneath, dark blue pants and black boots; plus, a red cape.
"Whoa! Hey, buddy…" Artie began to say.
"Silence!" Philip unsheathed his sword, pointing it at Artie's neck. The other guys looked alarmed.
"Guys, guys! I got it!" Artie assured his crew.
"The name, peasant?" Philip inquired. "Quickly!"
"Artie," said Artie.
"Are you in league with the wicked Maleficent, who sent my poor Aurora to this foul place, Artie?" The young prince asked.
"Uh…"
Philip turns to the Good Fairies.
"Ladies, is this man party to this evil plot?" He asks them.
"Oh, no, Your Highness;" said Merryweather.
"I don't think so," Flora replied.
"Please lower your sword, Philip, dear." Fauna advised. "Artie had nothing to do with it."
Philip puts away his sword.
Flora turns to Artie.
"Young man, we're looking for a girl named Aurora." She began to say. "Have you seen her? Gold of sunshine in her hair and lips red as the rose?"
"My other half, my one coquette, the answer to my love's duet." Philip added.
"I'd like to find one of them too, you know." Artie responds. "And no, I haven't seen her." He said to Flora.
"Then keep a weary eye out, Artie." Philip said.
"Come along; Flora, Fauna and Merryweather." Philip runs off and the fairies flew after him.
"Are you okay?" Chuck asks Artie, concerned. They watched the quartet go.
"Did you see those fairies fly?" Artie asks, still processing what had just happened.
Back at the Circus, Circus Hotel and Casino…
RING! RING! RING!
Aurora immediately wakes up, rather startled as the alarm clock goes off.
"What in the world is that?" She asks.
"It's an alarm clock." Holly responds, waking up. She shuts the alarm off.
"You set it for a certain time and when it goes off, that's your cue to get up." Holly adds.
"Oh," said Aurora. "Good morning, Holly."
"Good morning, Aurora." Holly said. "Did you sleep good?"
"Yes," Aurora nods. "Did you have sweet dreams?"
"Yes. Well, we'd better get ready. Today's the day for your circus tryouts."
Aurora nods. But then, she remembers something.
"I'm afraid I don't have anything to wear." The sixteen-year-old pointed out.
"Oh, don't worry, I've got something for you." Holly assured.
She retrieved her suitcase. Opening it, Holly pulls out a few articles of clothing (plus a bra). She hands them to Aurora.
"Here you go," said Holly. "Take off those pajamas and put these on. But let me put a bra on you."
Aurora does what she's told. She removes the striped pajamas and Holly helps Aurora putting a bra on. Aurora slips on a grey pleated skirt (with built-in shorts underneath). Next, she puts on a short-sleeved white T-shirt. Holly assists with putting on a strapless, black bustier, zipping it up in the back.
Holly then starts to get herself ready. Shimmying out of her own pj's, Holly puts on a strapless bra and a light blue denim romper with spaghetti straps. She slides her feet into neutral colored ballet flats. Grabbing a pair of black ballet flats, Holly gives them to Aurora who slips her feet into them.
"Come, I'll do your hair," Holly beckons for Aurora to come.
As Aurora approached her, Holly pulls out a brush and a comb. First, she combed Aurora's golden locks. Then, she brushed Aurora's, before pulling it into a low ponytail with a black ponytail scarf.
Next, Holly combs her own hair and brushes it, into a bun.
After washing their faces and brushing their teeth, Holly grabs the hotel room key. She beckons Aurora to follow her and they leave the room.
The girls head for the elevator and Holly pushes the button to go down. As they waited; Seymour, JoJo, Bruce and Peggy join them.
"Good morning, ladies." Seymour greeted.
"Good morning," Aurora and Holly replied in unison.
"Ready for the tryouts, Aurora?" Peggy asks the sixteen-year-old.
"Yes," Aurora nods.
"I do hope you'll be able to perform with us," said Peggy. "It'll be nice to have another girl clown in the group."
The elevator soon opens. Holly and Aurora go in. Holly holds the door open button, allowing the clown performers to enter.
"I don't know what I'll do as a clown," Aurora continued the conversation; as Holly pressed the button. "Exactly, what do you do as clowns?"
"We make people laugh." Seymour explained. "There's physical comedy involved-falling down, slamming cream pies in the face, etc."
"It's fairly easy, we'll show you." Peggy added.
"Okay," said Aurora. "By the way, I want to thank you all for talking Jack into letting me stay last night. I did notice he wasn't exactly enthusiastic about it and he thinks I'm strange."
"Oh, you're quite welcome." Holly said.
"The pleasure's all ours." Peggy added. "We couldn't find it in our hearts to turn you away."
"Also, don't mind Jack." Seymour said. "He and Annie have been through a lot, you'll find out from him eventually."
"And we don't think you're strange," JoJo interjects. "Funny and a little odd, but you seem like a sweet girl for the most part."
Aurora smiles. "So, where's everyone else?" She asks, changing the subject.
"They're probably at the Circus, Circus Carnival Midway or they'll be down shortly." Bruce answered.
The elevator makes it to the lobby. The group makes their way to Circus, Circus Carnival Midway, where Oswald and the other performers were. Aurora, Holly and the clowns greet them. They helped themselves to grab and go breakfast.
Shortly thereafter, Jack and Annie Radcliffe arrived. Jack had square shoulders and a head full of messy brown hair. He looked to be a bit slightly taller than Philip. Jack wore a black leather vest, a Metallica T-shirt, dark grey jeans, and black combat boots. He even carried his messenger bag. Annie had long brown hair and green eyes (like her brother). She wore a paisley sundress and sandals, carrying a backpack.
Annie spotted Aurora.
"Good morning, Aurora!" She said to the blonde, as she walked over.
"Good morning, Annie." Aurora greets the eight-year-old.
"Ready for the tryouts, today?" Annie asks.
Aurora nods.
"Good morning, Jack." She said to the seventeen-year-old.
"Morning, Aurora." Jack gives Aurora a small smile.
He briefly sizes her up with his eyes and takes notice of her outfit.
"Nice outfit," said Jack.
"Thank you," Aurora responds.
Oswald then calls everyone's attention.
"Good morning, everyone." He announced. "I hope you all got plenty of rest last night, because today we are going to have tryouts for our newest member, Aurora."
Everyone looks at Aurora, who smiles politely.
"Now, we'll test Aurora out in various acts to see where she fits. Jack and Annie, you take notes and assist with the tryouts. Shall we begin?" Oswald continued.
And so, the circus tryouts begin. The first act is stilt walking. After Jacinda and Oswald assist Aurora with getting onto the stilts, Aurora starts walking. She wobbles at first, but then she gets the hang of it. Soon enough, Aurora finds herself walking smoothly, even on stilts. Jacinda and Annie give Aurora thumbs up, while Oswald beams. Jack takes notes, while holding a clipboard.
Next for Aurora is aerial hoop. Tami and Aurora hang from double hoops, in the air. Tami instructs Aurora on how to do acrobatics while holding on to the hoop. Though Aurora was nervous at first, about being high up in the air, she felt her nervousness disappear. Despite wearing a skirt, Aurora did quite well doing stunts.
Up next is tightrope walking with Holly. Once again, Holly advises Aurora not to look down. It seemed like Aurora had the walking down pat. Unfortunately, the princess took a tumble, landing on the safety net. Both Oswald and Jack sigh, while Annie and Holly help Aurora.
Then Aurora partakes in knife throwing with Drake. She acts as a human target, while Drake threw knives. He assured Aurora that she won't get hurt and advised her to be very still. Leaning against a wooden circle, heart pounding, Aurora stayed still as Drake threw knives at her. Afterwards Drake taught Aurora various trick moves while riding a horse. Aurora even showcases her singing voice by vocally summoning the horses, much to the surprise and amazement of Drake and the others. It's gonna take for Aurora to get used to doing stunts on a horse, but Drake reassured her that she'll do fine. The knife thrower/trick rider briefly demonstrated lion taming to Aurora, but it saddened her to see an animal get hit. Drake calms her down, pointing out tames the lion into behaving.
The following act for tryouts is clowning, juggling, and riding a unicycle. The four clowns teach Aurora physical comedy stunts: pratfalls, cartwheels, walking on hands, funny dancing, slipping and falling. They even got laughs from the others (even Jack) in the process. Peggy showed Aurora how to juggle balls and bowling pins. Seymour guided Aurora through riding a unicycle and from there, Aurora rode flawlessly. At the end, Bruce slammed a cream pie in Aurora's face. She was shocked at first, but JoJo assures her it's all part of the humor. Aurora even found the cream pie delicious.
Afterwards, the whole group goes outside for the last three acts. Starting with the human cannonball routine, Puck helps Aurora climb into the cannon. Loading dynamite in, Puck gets ready to light a match.
"Are you ready, Aurora?" Jack asks.
Aurora nods.
"I am a little nervous, though." She admits.
"You're gonna be alright," said Jack. He gives her a small smile.
Once Puck lit a match, he sets the rope on fire. It sizzles and causes the cannon to fire, allowing Aurora to be shot out. She lands on a giant airbag.
Oswald golf claps.
"Bravo!" He declared. "Not bad for a beginner."
Next is the rolling globe act. Jon and Jack are to guide Aurora through it.
"Okay. So, what you're going to do is get on this ball and control the position of the ball with your feet, while juggling these bowling pins." Jon explains.
Aurora nods, understanding.
The two gentlemen help Aurora get onto a large sphere. Jack instructs Aurora to be still. Jon hands Aurora two bowling pins. With their guidance, the sixteen-year-old moves the sphere with her feet while juggling the pins.
A/N: And that's the end of chapter 6!
Aurora's outfit for the tryouts, is a nod to the peasant outfit she wears as Briar Rose in Sleeping Beauty in a modern way. I looked at Disney Bound fashion images for inspiration.
Jack's ensemble is basically a nod to what Jonathan Groff wore on Glee as Jesse St. James, when he's not performing with Vocal Adrenaline.
I will do my best to incorporate Edward's mannerisms into Prince Philip for laughs.
The face claims for Oswald and the circus troupe are as follows:
Oswald- Kelsey Grammar
Holly- Jennifer Love Hewitt
Seymour- Charles Fleischer
Drake- Dave Bautista
Puck- Elijah Kelley
Tami- Lizzy Caplan
Jacinda- Yara Shahidi
Jon- Oscar Nunez
Up next, we meet Jack's girlfriend Vanessa LaBouff. Vanessa meeting Aurora is going to be slightly different from Nancy meeting Giselle in Enchanted. The tryouts end with Holly & Aurora doing trapeze and Maleficent sends Diaval to Las Vegas to prevent Aurora from returning to Auradon.
See you next time, don't forget to favorite, follow and review!
