Chapter 7

Annie glances at Jack's phone and sees a text message from Vanessa LaBouff. She reluctantly gets up to meet her brother's girlfriend.

While Jack and Jon were busy with Aurora, Annie opens the door and closes it behind her. She goes and finds Vanessa in the Circus, Circus Carnival Midway. Vanessa had long, brown hair, hazel eyes and olive skin. A year older than Jack, she's dressed in a rather fashionable outfit: dark blue cap-sleeved dress, a black blazer, light beige wedge and a gold spiked cuff bracelet on her wrist. She's carrying a dark-colored cross body bag across her shoulders.

Seeing the eight-year-old girl, Vanessa smiles and stands up.

"Hey, girlfriend." She greets politely.

"Hi, Vanessa." Annie replies anxiously.

"What do you say?" Vanessa starts walking, heading for outside. "Ready to kick it?"

Annie looks confused. "Kick what?" She asked.

"I see you're all dressed and ready to go." Vanessa remarked, noticing Annie's outfit. "Where's your brother?"

"He's outside with Oswald and the circus troupe. They're doing tryouts," Annie answered.

"Tryouts?" Vanessa questioned.

Annie nodded. "For a new hire," She adds with an amused grin.

Meanwhile, outside…

"You're doing great, Aurora." Jon said.

"Just keep moving, focus." Jack instructs.

Aurora continues to cooperate beautifully. However, she loses her footing and one of the pins slips from her hands, flying right into Jack's face which knocks him over.

"Oh!" Aurora exclaims, only for her to stumble into Jack and the two teens fell onto the ground; with Aurora on top of Jack. Jon rushed over to help Aurora.

Hearing the commotion, Vanessa walks over and spots the pair.

"Vanessa!" Jack exclaimed, wide-eyed. With all that was going on today with Aurora and the tryouts, he hadn't noticed Vanessa's text saying she was coming to pick up Annie! This is not going to end well.

"Oh, hello!" Aurora greeted, giving Vanessa a sweet smile as Jon pulled her off Jack.

"Who is this?" Vanessa demanded, as she angrily pointed at Aurora.

"This is nothing!" Jack insisted.

"I'm Princess Aurora!" Aurora smooths out the wrinkles from her skirt and approaches Vanessa. "But you can call me Aurora."

"This is nothing! This is nobody! Vanessa, this is nothing!" Jack frantically repeated his plea, while trying to stop Aurora from talking.

"I was getting ready for my 16th birthday celebration and was heading downstairs to…" Aurora began to explain, but is interrupted by Vanessa.

"16th birthday celebration?" Vanessa turns onto Jack, anger in her eyes.

"Vanessa, she arrived here last night, lost. So, all of us were trying to help her." Jack explains, as he pushed Aurora away.

"I can assure you, there's nothing going on between Jack and Aurora." Jon added.

"Oh, yeah with what?" Vanessa retorted. "Finding a ball and pins?"

"Oh, the rolling globe!" Aurora exclaims, going over to Vanessa once more. "It's such a fun act!"

"Oh, I'm sure it is." Vanessa said, smiling sarcastically.

"Just please. That's enough, thank you very much." Jack said to Aurora, moving her out of the way." "Jon, help Aurora get set up with the trapeze act."

Jon leads Aurora away.

"Okay, let's just…" Jack falters, when he suddenly sees that Vanessa is about to leave and tries to stop her.

"Vanessa, calm down. Please, let's talk. Please…"

"Talk about what, Jack?" Vanessa demands, whirling around. "How I never stay the night because we agreed that Annie's there and you have to set boundaries. And I thought 'I'm so lucky, he's sensitive.' I didn't realize you were worried about crowd control!" She starts to storm out.

"Okay, so…we will talk later?" Jack asks, hopeful; trying to reason with his girl.

"Don't bet on it!" Vanessa snapped, making her way to the door and is about ready to leave.

"What about taking Annie out?" Jack asked, as he followed Vanessa to the door, to prevent her from leaving. "You know, some 'grown-up' girl bonding time?"

"What? So, you can have some 'grown-up' girl bonding time?" Vanessa shot back. She glances at Aurora, who waves. "I don't think so!"

Vanessa opens the door and leaves, furious.

"Goodbye!" Aurora called, completely unaware of the drama that had just unfolded. "Oh, she is lovely."

Jack rolled his eyes and without hesitation, he quickly goes after Vanessa.

"Yeah, she is," said Jon. "Jack and Vanessa are in a relationship with one another. Someday, they're gonna take a big step forward. Propose to her."

"Propose?" Aurora gasps, excited. "How romantic!"

"Yes," Jon responded.

"But now, she thinks that you and Jack…" Jacinda interjects.

"Kissed?" Aurora asks, a look of horror appears on her face.

"Something like that," said Tami.

"Oh, no." Now, Aurora feels guilty feels guilty about accidentally coming between Vanessa and Jack and wanted them to reconcile. She ponders for a minute, until an idea popped into her head.

"Maybe Jack could sing to her?" Aurora suggests.

"Sing?" Tami asked.

"I don't think Jack is that kind of guy." Jon said.

"Well, maybe that would reassure Vanessa of Jack's affections." Aurora pointed out. "He needs to rush to her side, and hold her in his arms and then…pour his heart out in a beautiful ballad!" She declared in a sing-song tone. "And then she'll know for sure."

Jon gave Aurora an odd look. Tami, Jacinda, Puck, Holly, Drake, Oswald, Annie and the clowns looked amused and intrigued.

"Right," said Jon. "Anyways, on to the trapeze act."

Meanwhile, Jack is rushing to try to catch Vanessa.

"Vanessa, wait!" He shouted.

But it was too late, for Vanessa had gone to her own office.

Jack groans. "Oh!"

"Could this day get any worse?" He thought to himself, miserably.

Deflated, Jack goes back outside. He approaches Oswald.

The ringmaster spotted the teenager.

"Ah, there you are, Jack!"

"Oswald, I want Aurora gone." Jack said.

"Now, wait a minute, young man." Oswald said sternly. "I get it you're upset about what happened with Vanessa, but there's no need to take it out on Aurora."

"Plus, she's new here." Jon piped up.

"She didn't know you have a girlfriend." Tami interjects.

"But, she has created an unnecessary problem for me and Vanessa…" Jack began to protest.

"Nonsense." Oswald interrupts. "I'm sure Vanessa will calm down and the two of you will talk, like civilized human beings. Now, we got one final act for Aurora to go through, and that's trapeze."

Jack sighs. Everyone turns their attention to Holly and Aurora, who are standing on a bar.

"All right, are you ready?" Holly asks Aurora.

Aurora nods. "How do we begin?"

"Now, you hold onto this swing." Holly instructs. "Step back a bit and…take off swinging and then grab onto another swing; and you keep swinging; until I grab you. Watch."

Holly demonstrates the first two steps of trapeze and immediately takes off. Amazed, Aurora follows suit. As she swings back and forth, Holly grabs Aurora's hands. The two went flying until they landed on top of the bar. They go at it again, at one point Aurora releases and falls on the safety net. She and Holly pick it back up. Aurora felt like a bird, flying. Oswald, Annie, and the other performers watched in amazement and awe. Jack, who was texting Vanessa, even looked up and witnessed Aurora doing trapeze. For a moment, he smiles, rather impressed. And then, Jack looks away.

Aurora and Holly finish the act. The two take a bow as the others applauded.

"Magnificent! Stupendous!" Oswald declared, satisfied with the outcome.

"Now, after much consideration and reviewing the performance levels of the acts, I think it's safe to say that Aurora is part of the circus. Welcome aboard, dear girl." The ringmaster continued.

"Thank you, sir," said Aurora with gratitude.

"You'll get better at tightrope walking and trick riding, somewhere down the line. Without further ado, let's have Aurora start out with the clowns today. We'll add another act in."

"Peggy, Seymour, Bruce and JoJo; take Aurora to your dressing room and help her get ready." Oswald addressed the quartet.

"Jack, you get to work on the performance schedules for today. Include the acts Aurora participate in. Annie, you'll help everyone get ready and watch the acts." Oswald said to the Radcliffe's.

"Yay!" Annie cheered, while Jack discreetly rolled his eyes, unhappy that Aurora gets to stay. He walks off, sulking and headed for his office.

Seymour and Peggy link arms with Aurora and began to lead her away. Bruce and JoJo follow suit.

"Well, little lady, let's get you ready." Seymour said.

Aurora nods, beaming.

Meanwhile; back in Auradon at the Forbidden Mountains, Maleficent watches the scene from her lair.

"So, she ran away and joined the circus, what a cliché." Maleficent sneered. "Wouldn't she just love to come crawling back here and steal my land, cast me aside like so much royal rubbish."

She turned to her raven, Diaval; who is perched next to her.

"My pet," said Maleficent. "You are my last hope. I've got a job for you."

Using her magic, the dark fairy transforms Diaval into a human being. Standing before her, he is a lean, clean-cut individual. With a relatively average stature for a human male, Diaval is slightly taller than Maleficent. He has slicked-back hair, dark brown eyes, and a fair complexion. Diaval's all black ensemble consisted of: an open shirt, a belt, pants and a matching coat.

"At your service, my mistress." Diaval responds, bowing.

"Travel to this land called 'Las Vegas' and search for a maid of sixteen, with hair of sunshine gold and lips red as the rose." Maleficent instructs. "Do everything you can to stop those three fairies and Prince Philip from bringing that girl back. Go through the portal inside the mirror and do not fail me."

"Yes, mistress." Diaval nods, understanding Maleficent's instructions. He leaves the room and heads for the mirror in a tower. Jumping through the portal, Diaval heads to Las Vegas.

A/N: And that's the end of this chapter!

Vanessa meeting Aurora in this story is slightly different from Nancy meeting Giselle in Enchanted. For one thing, Vanessa doesn't see Aurora wearing a towel after having a shower.

Vanessa's last name is a nod to Big Daddy and Charlotte LaBouff from The Princess & the Frog. Her outfit is inspired by Disney Bound fashion for Vanessa from The Little Mermaid. Also, Vanessa's face claim is Sarah Jeffries (Audrey from the Descendants series).

The sequence with Holly and Aurora doing trapeze is inspired by the scene from Madagascar 3: Europe's Wanted where Alex and Gia practice trapeze ("Trapeze Americano).

Anyways, up next Diaval arrives in Las Vegas. Philip attacks a bus (as nod to that hilarious scene from Enchanted), making the bus driver mad. The only difference is that there's no chipmunk involved. There's also going to be scene with Vanessa talking with her friend and co-worker inspired that deleted scene from Enchanted.

Until then, see you next time!
