Chapter 17
Meanwhile, back at the Grand Duke hotel, Philip is lying on the bed; feeling restless. He spent the whole day in the room watching TV (aka "magic mirror") and he's not getting anywhere in searching for his future bride and her guardians.
"Difficult," Philip laments. "Will I ever find my heart's duet?"
He flips through a channel, using the remote.
" Also, joining us today is the woman who actually saved the restaurant from an insane raven." The news reporter Linda Irene O'Hara announced.
Suddenly, Philip recognizes his true love along with Flora, Fauna and Merryweather on the screen.
"Aurora," He exclaimed, wide eyed.
" Tell us how does it feel to prevent a disaster from happening?"
"Exhilarating," Merryweather responds.
" Wonderful," Aurora gushed. " Aunt Merryweather was protecting me from a foe who was trying to kill me. Aunt Flora, Fauna and Merryweather are amazing guardians and…"
" Ladies, let's head back," Jack begins to lead the women away. Annie is at his side.
" Good night!" Aurora called.
" Sir, ma'am, I wasn't finished…one more question." Linda said. The fairy trio chastise Jack over his rude behavior.
Alarmed and confused by the strange peasant, Philip draws the sword.
"What is this?"
" Is this unprovoked ambush part of some new trend? Is raven rage on the rise?"
Philip gets in front of the TV, kneeling.
"Magic mirror, I beg you, tell me where she is?" He asks the screen.
" Reporting from 129 Fremont Street,"
"129 Fremont Street," Philip repeated; hugging the TV. "Thank you, mirror." The prince kissed the screen, before getting ready to head out.
" I'm Linda Irene O'Hara…"
Back at Circus, Circus Hotel; Aurora and the Three Good Fairies are bonding with Annie, in her own office.
"Goodness, we sure had a lot of excitement tonight." Aurora remarked. "Were you scared?"
"A little bit." Annie replied. "But why was that waiter turned into a raven? Who was he?"
"That young man was Diaval." Flora began to explain. "He's Maleficent's right hand man."
"Maleficent sent Diaval after us to poison Aurora and stop us from bringing Aurora back home." Fauna interjects.
"It's all part of Maleficent's scheme to send Aurora away, so that she can still hold on to her power." Merryweather adds.
Unbeknownst to the group, Jack is watching them interact with his sister. He liked how good they were with Annie, for she never really bonded much with Vanessa. But with Aurora (and her guardians of course), it's different.
"But I wouldn't worry about it. Aunt Merryweather took care of the situation. My aunts are very brave," Aurora assures the eight-year-old.
"I remember this one time, when the poor wolf was being chased by Little Red Riding Hood around the cottage, and she had an axe…oh, and if we hadn't been walking by to help we don't know what would've happened!" Fauna piped up.
"I don't really remember that version," said Annie.
"Well that's because Red tells it a little differently." Aurora points out.
"Good night Aurora, Miss Flora, Miss Fauna and Miss Merryweather. And thank you for the nice story," said Annie.
"Good night, Annie."
Annie gives Aurora a little kiss on the cheek, which surprises Aurora. The fairies smile warmly at the little girl.
Meanwhile, Philip sets off in search of Aurora and the Three Fairies. Once he arrived at the destination, Philip looks around, taking in his surroundings.
Suddenly, he hears voices.
"Philip, can you hear us?" Flora's voice called.
"Flora, Fauna, Merryweather, where are you?" Philip inquired, puzzled. "Where's Aurora?"
"We're all at a hotel called Circus, Circus;" Flora replied. "Go straight there,"
"You'll see a sign with a clown." Merryweather added.
"And once you get there, we'll help you find us." Fauna interjects.
"See you soon, Philip!" Aurora called.
Philip's heart leaped at the sound of Aurora's voice.
"I'll see you soon, my love. I'm on my way!" Philip declared.
With that, he took off, heading to Circus, Circus. Once he arrived, after dodging traffic, Philip goes to hide behind a pillar. As he peered around the corner, Philip felt something wet on his foot. The prince looked down to see a dog peeing on his boot.
Shaking it off, Philip went inside. After being amazed by the wonder of the lobby, Philip takes the stairs. Once he reached a floor, he decides to try a room. After knocking on a door, the door opens revealing a pregnant woman with three kids.
Philip's smile fades.
"You're too late," The woman said sarcastically, taking in Philip's appearance. The kids giggle.
"My apologies," Philip apologizes as the door closes.
He moves on, with no luck in finding Aurora and the fairies, only coming across a man with a cat who hisses at Philip. Philip hisses back.
Just as Philip is about to give up, Philip hears Fauna's voice.
"Philip, dear, are you there?" She asked.
"I'm here," Philip responds. "But, where are you ladies?"
"We're on the top floor." Merryweather informs.
"Take the elevator." Flora advises. "We're in a suite."
Feeling renewed with determination, Philip finds an elevator. Pressing a button, the doors open and Philip enters. He pushed a button and waits as he's taken to the top floor, anticipating his reunion with Aurora.
Author's Note: Hi, everyone!
I deeply apologize for the delay. I've been writing this chapter on and off. After I finished writing this chapter, I started working on the next one. Also, I've been swamped with my work schedule and running personal errands.
In the original Enchanted movie, the reporter's name is Mary Ilene Caselotti. It's a reference to Mary Costa (the voice of Aurora from Sleeping Beauty), Ilene Woods (the voice of Cinderella), and Adriana Caselotti (the voice of Snow White). Here in the story, the reporter's name is a nod to Linda Larkin (the voice of Jasmine), Irene Bedard (the voice of Pocahontas), and Paige O'Hara (the voice of Belle).
And speaking of Pocahontas, Judy Kuhn the singing voice of Pocahontas had a cameo in the Enchanted movie as Robert's pregnant neighbor who tells Edward he's too late. I imagine Susan Egan, the voice of Megara from Hercules making a cameo in the role.
For the part with Aurora and the three fairies bonding with Annie, I did tweak it a bit, considering there's no chipmunk involved.
I came up with the idea of Flora, Fauna and Merryweather contacting Philip through telepathy, rather than have him run all over the hotel looking for them.
So, up next Jack tries to convince Aurora that Philip is not coming. The two argue and that's when Aurora gets angry for the first time. The fairies over hear the argument and call out Jack on his cynical attitude. The good news is that the chapter is already written, I just have to type it up.
Thank you to retro mania and Crimson Commander688 for the reviews, and to those who recently favorited and followed. I hope you enjoyed this new chapter.
See you next time!
