Special 1(Loona's Big Birthday Bash)

The morning sun of Hell rose blood-red over the IMP office, its usual dull chaos replaced by the sound of frantic preparations. Today wasn't just any day—it was Loona's tenth birthday, and Blitzo and Verosika were hellbent (literally) on making it unforgettable.

Blitzo zipped around the office, streamers trailing behind him like a deranged comet. "Alright, people! We've got ONE job today, and that's to make sure my little Loony-toony has the kind of birthday that'll make other kids cry with jealousy. Got it?"

Verosika, leaning coolly against the counter with a clipboard in hand, rolled her eyes but smirked. "Relax, Blitzo. We've got this. Tilla and Barbie are already working on the cake, Moxxie and Millie are out hunting down that comic book, and the rest of us just need to stick to the plan."

Blitzo grinned, but his eyes shimmered with uncharacteristic softness. "Good. She deserves it, y'know? We didn't get this kind of stuff when we were kids, but Loona? She's getting the works."

--

Tilla and Barbie Wire were deep in the heart of Blitzo's childhood kitchen, a chaotic mess of frosting, flour, and fondant surrounding them.

"She's going to love this," Tilla said, her voice warm as she carefully smoothed the frosting over the three-tiered cake. "Purple and black, just like her favorite colors, perfect for my sweet grand baby."

"Yeah, yeah, but it's gotta have sparkles too," Barbie added, sprinkling edible glitter with a manic grin. "And don't forget the little wolf figurine topper!"

"Barbie, you've already put three wolf toppers on there," Tilla teased, wiping her hands on her apron.

Barbie shrugged. "She's worth it."

--

Across town, Moxxie, Millie, and Bellina, their cheery gothic maid girlfriend, were on a frantic hunt for a signed copy of She-Wolf by Dawn, Loona's favorite comic series.

"This is the shop," Bellina said, pointing to a shady-looking store nestled between two crumbling buildings. "I've heard rumors the owner has rare stuff."

They stepped inside, and Moxxie immediately sneezed from the thick layer of dust coating everything. "This place looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the dawn of time," he muttered.

"Perfect atmosphere for finding treasure!" Millie chirped, dragging him deeper into the store.

After a tense negotiation with the demon clerk—who demanded a ridiculous price and a cursed trinket in return—they walked out triumphant, the comic safely tucked under Moxxie's arm, Moxxie looking stunned, somewhat traumatized. "I did things!"

--

Back at the office, Collin paced nervously, his cherubic wool fluffed out from stress. "I want to do something special for her," he mumbled to himself.

Octavia, perched nearby with a bored look, arched a brow. "Then do something. It's not that hard, sheep boy." Octavia having settled on painting Loona a picture.

"But what?" Collin wailed. "I'm just a cherub! She deserves something amazing!"

Sol, sitting cross-legged on the couch, glanced up from counting her savings. "Sometimes the best gifts aren't about being flashy. Just… think about what she'd really appreciate."

Collin nodded, inspired. "You're right! I'll write her a song—she loves music!" He grabbed a notepad and started scribbling furiously, muttering lyrics under his breath.

--

Meanwhile, it was time for Sol's Sacrifice, young Sol was making her way to a photography studio, clutching a handful of crumpled bills. For weeks, she'd skipped lunch and scrounged for every coin she could find to afford the perfect gift: a framed photo of their whole gang.

"Is this enough?" she asked the demon photographer, her voice hopeful as she adjusted her large round glasses.

The demon glanced at the money and smirked. "Barely, but yeah, I'll make it work."

As she waited for the photo to be developed, Sol thought about all the laughs, adventures, and moments they'd shared. "She's gonna love this," she whispered to herself with a smile.

--

By the time evening rolled around, the IMP office had been transformed into a glittering birthday haven. Purple and black streamers hung from the ceiling, a banner reading "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOONA!" stretched across the wall, and the smell of cake filled the air.

Loona, dressed in her favorite band shirt and a new pair of boots Blitzo had sneakily bought her, walked in and froze. "What… is this?" she asked, her voice betraying just a hint of emotion.

"It's your party, Loony-toony!" Blitzo said, throwing his arms wide. "Happy birthday!"

Her friends cheered as they emerged from behind the furniture. Sol handed her the framed photo, Collin shyly presented his handwritten song, and Moxxie dramatically handed her the signed comic book.

Loona blinked, her usual gruff demeanor cracking as she tried to suppress a smile. "You guys… you didn't have to do all this."

Verosika smirked, placing a hand on her hip. "Of course we did. You're family, kid."

Blitzo wrapped an arm around Loona's shoulders. "And family gets the best birthdays ever. Now, blow out those candles and make a wish!"

As Loona blew out the candles on her sparkling, wolf-themed cake, surrounded by laughter and love, she felt something she rarely did: true happiness. For once, everything felt just right.

After the cake was cut and devoured (with Collin accidentally getting frosting on his wool and Sol teasing him relentlessly), the gifts were unwrapped.

The birthday hound opened a small box from Cadpig, a new phone case, jet black with a pentagram and crescent design on it, Cadpig grinning wide with a double thumbs up.

Loona, now getting a bag from Balin, inside a new spiked collar and a matching earring.

Loona carefully tore the paper from Sol's present, revealing the ornate framed photo of their little gang. Her eyes softened as she stared at the image, which showed them all laughing together during one of their park hangouts, the frame hand carved from fine Bloodwood and engraved with wolf and moon designs along with at the bottom a wolf, a spaniel, an orca, a sheep and an owl representing each member of their group.

"You skipped lunch for weeks to pay for this, didn't you?" Loona asked, her voice a little gruff but her tail wagging ever so slightly.

Sol shrugged, her grin sheepish. "Worth it."

Loona set the frame down carefully, then pulled Sol into a brief, awkward hug. "Thanks, dork."

Next was Collin's gift. The cherub sheep shuffled nervously as he handed her a folded piece of paper. "Uh, so, I, uh, wrote this song for you… It's not much, but…"

Loona unfolded the paper and started reading. Her ears perked as her eyes scanned the heartfelt lyrics, which spoke about their friendship, her strength, and how much she meant to him.

"This is… sweet," Loona muttered, her cheeks tinged red. She gave him a light punch on the arm. "You're not bad for a fluffy little angel, Lambchop."

Collin beamed, practically floating off the ground.

--

Finally, it was time for Moxxie, Millie, and Bellina's gift.

"Alright, Loona, brace yourself," Moxxie said with theatrical flair as he handed her a wrapped package.

Loona raised a brow, but her eyes widened the moment she saw the cover of She-Wolf by Dawn. "No way! This is signed by the creator!" she exclaimed, clutching the comic like it was the most precious thing in the world.

Bellina grinned, her perky goth energy infectious. "Yup! And it only cost Moxxie his dignity during negotiations."

"Hey!" Moxxie protested.

Loona laughed—a rare, genuine laugh—and held the comic close. "This is the best gift ever. Thanks, guys."

--

With the gifts opened, the group turned their attention to the makeshift dance floor Blitzo had set up. A hellish playlist of Loona's favorite tracks blared through the speakers as everyone let loose.

Blitzo and Verosika led the charge with their ridiculous, overly dramatic moves, dragging a reluctant Loona into the middle of the floor.

"C'mon, Loony! Show us your moves!" Blitzo cheered, spinning her around.

Octavia twirling about as she danced with her imp butler Higgens giggling up a storm..

Balin the stout orca demon girl leaned against the wall, her usual aloofness cracked by a small smile as she watched her friend have fun. Cadpig jumping all about making faces to take selfies of everyone and everything adding silly filters.. Sol and Collin joined in, their awkward, kid-like dancing making Loona laugh harder than she had in ages.

Even Moxxie and Millie couldn't resist, pulling Bellina into a goofy trio routine that had everyone in stitches.

--

As the party began to wind down, Verosika found Loona sitting on the couch, the framed photo in her lap and the comic tucked safely under her arm.

"Pretty good day, huh, pup?" Verosika said, sitting beside her.

Loona glanced at her and nodded. "Yeah. Better than I expected."

Verosika smiled, her usual sass softened. "You've got a lot of people who care about you, Loony. Don't forget that."

Loona's tail swished slightly as she looked at her adoptive mom. "Yeah… thanks for helping mom."

"Anytime, my little blue moon." Verosika warmly smiled.

--

As everyone started to leave, Blitzo pulled Loona aside. "So, uh, I know the cake, the gifts, and all that were great, but I've got one last surprise."

Loona raised an eyebrow. "What now?"

Blitzo grinned and opened the door to reveal a brand-new ten speed bike, painted in purple and black with wolf decals on the sides. "Happy birthday, Loony-toony!"

Loona's jaw dropped. "Are you serious?! This is mine?!"

"Damn right it is!" Blitzo said, ruffling her hair. "You're ten now. Practically an adult by Hell standards. Just don't crash it."

Loona stared at the bike, then at Blitzo, her eyes unusually shiny. "Thanks, Dad," she said quietly.

Blitzo froze for a moment, then grinned so wide it looked like his face might split. "You're welcome, kid."

As Loona climbed onto her new bike, the group cheered, and Blitzo wiped a suspicious tear from his eye.

It wasn't a perfect world, but for today, it felt pretty damn close.

The house had finally quieted after the whirlwind of Loona's birthday party. Streamers hung limply from the walls, confetti littered the floor, and the faint scent of burnt birthday candles lingered in the air.

Blitzo and Verosika peeked into Loona's room, finding her sitting on her bed with her gifts spread around her like trophies. The framed photo from Sol sat on her nightstand next to the painting Via did, her She-Wolf by Dawn comic rested on her lap, and the shiny cycle helmet that came with her new bike gleamed beside her.

"Alright, Loony-toony, time to hit the hay," Blitzo said as he stepped in, his voice gentle.

Loona looked up, her eyes shining with something rare: pure happiness. "I'm not tired," she protested, though the yawn that followed betrayed her words.

Verosika crossed her arms, smirking. "Uh-huh. And I'm the queen of Hell. C'mon, birthday wolf, into bed."

Loona reluctantly crawled under her blanket, clutching the comic to her chest. As Blitzo tucked her in, Verosika adjusted the gifts on the bed, making sure everything was in reach.

"You really went all out," Loona mumbled, her voice tinged with awe.

Blitzo sat on the edge of her bed, brushing her bangs aside. "Of course we did. You deserve it, kid. We don't half-ass birthdays in this family."

"Especially not yours," Verosika added, sitting on the other side of the bed. "We love you, Loony. Even if you do drive us crazy most of the time."

Loona snorted but didn't argue. Her tail wagged faintly under the blanket.

--

For a moment, a very rare Moment of vulnerability Loona's usual sass melted away, replaced by something softer. "I, uh… I had a really great day," she admitted, her voice quiet. "I don't think I've ever felt… this special before."

Blitzo's grin softened into a warm smile. "That's the whole point, kiddo. You're special to us every day, but today's all about making sure you know it."

Verosika leaned in, planting a soft kiss on Loona's forehead. "You're our little star, Loona. Don't you ever forget it."

Loona's cheeks flushed slightly, but she didn't shy away. Instead, she let out a contented sigh and pulled her blanket up to her chin.

"Thanks, Dad… Mom," she muttered, her eyes fluttering closed.

Blitzo and Verosika exchanged a glance, their expressions softening at the sound of her words.

--

As Loona drifted off to sleep, clutching her comic like a lifeline, Blitzo and Verosika quietly stood and left the room.

In the hallway, Blitzo leaned against the wall, his usual bravado giving way to a rare moment of sentimentality. "Y'know, I think we did good today."

Verosika smirked, punching him lightly on the arm. "Damn right we did. She'll probably never admit it out loud again, but she knows how much we care."

Blitzo chuckled softly. "Yeah. She's a tough one, but deep down, she's got a big ol' squishy heart. Just like her old man."

Verosika rolled her eyes but smiled. "Don't push your luck, Blitzø."

The two stood in comfortable silence for a moment before heading off to clean up the remnants of the party, both feeling a rare sense of peace.

--

Back in her room, Loona smiled faintly in her sleep. Her dreams were filled with laughter, the faces of her friends, and the warmth of her family.

For the first time in a long time, she felt safe, loved, and truly happy.

End of Special.
