Variety has long been accepted as the spice of life, which is a good thing, because the universe is a place of infinite variation. Every inhabited planet brings something new to the table, although what one species delights in does not necessarily suit the tastes on a neighbouring planet.

Some things seem to meet with universal approval, like bananas, or tea, while others have a more limited appeal. That's fair; not everyone has the same dietary requirements.

Nevertheless, the Doctor finds the popularity of some foodstuffs baffling.

"How can you eat that?"

"What?" Rory frowns. "It's just marmite!"

"It's disgusting!"
