Banjo cautiously journeyed through the temple on his own until he reached a room with a pedestal inside and book sitting on it. Banjo scurried to recieve the book and picked it up.
"This is it, guh huh!" cheered Banjo "I can finally go back to Spiral Mountain and dezombify all my friends!"
But...
"But?" Banjo asked.
After Banjo picked up the book the temple began to shake.
"WOAH!" screamed Banjo, falling away from the pedestal as an enormous statue began to rise.
"WHO DARES DISTURB MY SLUMBER?!" shouted the totem statue rising from the floor.
"Targitzan?" said Banjo staring at the gigantic totem in confusion.
"No!" said the totem "Targitzan is my idiotic brother. I am the great and powerful Flatbad, Terror of the Temple! And if you don't hand over that book I'll flatten you like a little fuzzy pancake. So hand it over. Now!"
"Uh oh." gulped Banjo, as the totem fell to it's side and began rolling towards him.
Banjo stood there, trapped. The door closed behind him and nowhere left to turn. The only way out was through a hole in the ceiling, but Banjo couldn't make it, especially not without Kazooie. Banjo quivered as the totem got closer, but he was snatched up by a green flying creature.
"Kazooie?" said Banjo, happy to see his best friend, to which Kazooie with a bloodthirsty growl "AHHH!"
Banjo wriggled and jiggled, trying to set himself free from the clutches of his zombified buddy, but couldn't break loose of her hold. Suddenly Banjo noticed that the corners of the temple were cracked. If he could steer Kazooie towards those and break free he could bring the whole place down. Banjo reached up to grab Kazooie's tail feathers.
"Sorry about this." Banjo apologized, yanking the feather, causing Kazooie to drop him in the right corner of the temple, away from the door.
"Now I have you!" shouted Flatbad, rolling towards Banjo.
But Banjo acted quickly and flashed the book in the air, getting Kazooie's attention. Kazooie swooped down, picking Banjo right off the ground, leaving Flatbad to tumble into the pillar, letting it crash down upon his top head, crushing it.
"OW!" screamed Flatbad in pain "You furry nuisance! There's more where that came from!"
Flatbad stood himself up, slamming himself on the ground, causing pieces of the temple to crumble.
"WOAH!" Banjo screamed, noticing one of the pieces falling right in front of Kazooie.
Banjo acted quickly though and tried steering Kazooie with his bodyweight away from the rocks. After Flatbad finished, he stood up in the opposite corner away from door. Banjo looked down and plucked out a feather, making Kazooie drop him into the corner facing Flatbad.
"Take this!" shouted Flatbad, rolling towards Banjo as he lifted the book once again.
Flatbad slammed into the corner, causing the pillar to fall on his second head, crushing it.
"I'm not through with you yet!" yelled Flatbad, picking up a fallen piece of the temple in his large mouth and spitting it out of the top mouth.
Banjo steered Kazooie from left to right, dodging the rocks aimed to hit him. Flatbad hopped to the corner near the door that had no pillar, and Banjo plucked out yet another feather, falling in the corner, opposite of the one Flatbad stood.
"Now you're mine!" shouted Flatbad, rolling towards Banjo, but missing yet again after Kazooie picked him up off the ground.
The pillar tumbled onto Flatbad's third head, crushing it.
"AAAAAAUUUURRRGH!" screamed Flatbad angrily "I WILL FLATTEN YOU!"
"Kazooie!" Kazooie shook her head, hearing the voice of the Zombie King inside "Deal with this bear, NOW!"
"Yes... master." answered Kazooie, turning her towards Banjo with growl and green egg-shaped fire coming out of her beak.
"AAAAHHHH!" screamed Banjo, as Kazooie attempted to shake him off.
Banjo fell in one of the corners away from the door and saw Flatbad bouncing near him. Banjo ran just before Kazooie began to fire the green flames in Banjo's direction.
"Aaaiii!" cried Banjo after being knocked back by one of the flames.
Luckily Banjo was knocked towards the final remaining pillar and Flatbad had had enough of chasing Banjo around. Flatbad picked up a remaining rock and spat it at Banjo, but the rock was overshot and hit the pillar instead. Banjo watched as the pillar tumbled him, but Kazooie snated Banjo up again and flew out of the door Banjo came through, which was destroyed by the impact of the pillar landing on Flatbad's final head.
"Oh poo." frowned Flatbad as his life flashed before his eyes.
Well, not much of a life since he was a totem after all and he was confined to just one area, then again he also had a brother, so does that mean that their mother and father were totems too? How did they even meet? Can totems even have children?
"Can you please get on with the story?" asked Flatbad, laying under a pile of debris.
Right. Sorry.
Kazooie flew towards the exit, her talons gripping the book that Banjo just couldn't let go of... meanwhile a boulder was hurling towards them and they flew pass Bloatazin and Blubbers.
"It's mine!" said Blubbers.
"It's mine!" said Bloatazin.
"It's mine!" said Blubbers.
"It's mine!" said Bloatazin.
"It's... look out!" shouted Blubbers, running towards the exit.
"I'm not falling for that again." laughed Bloatazin, hugging his precious trinket.
And then Bloatazin slowly turned and saw the boulder hurling towards him.
"RAAAHHH!" screamed Bloatazin, running towards the exit behind Blubbers, trinket still in his grasp.
That's it for this chapter, be on the lookout for the next one, where we'll come to know how Banjo met Kazooie. Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for reading this far.
