As our heroes trekked their way into the tower, outside Gruntilda came to.
"WITCH!!!" shouted the Zombie King, appearing in a ball of green flame.
"AHHH!!!" screamed Gruntilda, turning towards the Zombie King "Yes, Zombie King? Can't you see I'm a bit busy?"
"The bear and bird are in the tower." said the Zombie King "I want you to go to the top and stop at all costs!"
"And what exactly am I to do?" laughed Gruntilda.
"THINK OF SOMETHING!!!" shouted the Zombie King "And don't worry about the inside. I've already taken care of that."
Inside the tower, Banjo and Kazooie looked up the railings leading upwards. A few rooms were scattered throughout the tower and living beakers full of red and green concoctions hopped about.
"Uh oh." gulped Banjo "I thought there'd be enemies here."
"Hey Banjo, look!" shouted Kazooie, pointing to Conga who had almost reached the top of the tower "Let's hurry up and get after him."
"Right." agreed Banjo, running for the nearby stairs, killing an enemy beaker along the way.
After going up a couple of floors Banjo turned towards a small room with a red glowing light shining from above.
"I wonder what this room is for." said Banjo, looking at his surroundings, but not seeing anything but a small hole in the wall.
"Maybe we should come back here later." said Kazooie.
"Right." nodded Banjo, leaving the room and going up another flight of stairs.
Up these stairs was yet another room that looked like a lab. Some of the living beakers were inside so Banjo and Kazooie decided to go in and get rid of them. The first one, Banjo jumped up in the air and Kazooie ground pounded it to death. The second one hopped towards them, but Kazooie hit it with her beak a couple of times, causing it to break. The third and final one stood in the corner and Banjo did the same to it as he did with the first. After all the enemies were cleared out Banjo and Kazooie heard a voice coming from behind one of the cabinets in the other corner. Out from the cabinet fell a mole with white hair, wearing a lab coat and a strange pair of glasses.
"Th-Thank you so much." stuttered the mole.
"Hey, you look a lot like a friend of ours." said Banjo "Do happen to be related to Bottles?"
"Why yes, I am." answered the little mole "I happen to be his uncle. How is the old boy?"
"He's turned into a zombie." said Kazooie.
"What?!?" said Bottles' uncle in shock "I can't believe this."
"You wouldn't happen to have a cure to turn him and our other friends back to normal would you?" asked Banjo.
"No. I'm afraid I don't." answered Bottles' uncle "The only thing I have is at the top room of the tower and lately I haven't been able to get up there with all these monsters around."
"Maybe we could help you." Banjo offered.
"Oh that's nice, but I'm afraid that even if I could go up there I wouldn't be able to help." said Bottles' uncle "You see, there's a door guarding the cure that's a needs a code to unlock it."
"So just give us the code and we'll go unlock it for you." said Kazooie.
"I'm afraid I can't do that either. After installing the security system for the door I'm afraid I have forgotten it after all these years. But there is a way I can possibly help you."
"How's that?" asked Banjo.
"Scattered throughout the tower there are five test tubes. If you bring those to me I may be able to help you continue your journey through this tower and get to the top to get the cure."
"Sounds like a plan." said Banjo "By the way we didn't catch your name."
"My name is Professor Beaker."
"Why are all you moles named after stuff you pour liquids into?" said Kazooie.
"I don't know. Why are the two of you named after instruments?" said Professor Beaker.
"Touché." said Kazooie.
"Well, we better get going so we can find these test tubes." said Banjo, heading towards the exit.
"Yes, and do be careful." said Professor Beaker, sitting at his table to create some concoctions "Now let's see."
As our bear and bird continued upward, Conga stared down at them with raging red eyes.
"Go." whispered an all too familiar "Get to the top before they do."
"Yes, Zombie King."
