The rest of that morning ended on a good note. After they finished eating, Deku helped Luna clean up. There was a small conversation between them while they did so. Deku brought up Luna's last name. Luna explained she was originally from America and she only moved here a couple months ago.
That would explain why she didn't know him-she'd just moved from another country. Though Deku wouldn't be surprised if his name drifted to other nations. But even within a couple months, she could've caught knowledge of his name.
Luna reluctantly brought up what happened last night and asked how he ended up there. Deku didn't lie but was vague with his answer.
"A villain attacked me and I defended myself. I managed to get away, but got blasted last-minute." Deku explained.
"Oh dear." Luna responded and apologized for bringing it up. Deku assured her it was fine, having been through this experience quite a few times.
Luna soon returned Deku's clothes to him and he got dressed. He thanked Luna for the meal once more before leaving, but had to be extra cautious about his surroundings. Most people would freak out if they saw him. Just as he was heading down the stairs, the sound of running footsteps made him jerk his head around. Luna came jogging toward him, familiar fabric cradled in her hands.
"You forgot your gloves." Luna called, stopping and extending her arms out to him willingly.
"Ah, thank you." Deku said almost bashfully, mentally cursing at himself for forgetting important equipment as he took the gloves back. His rough fingers grazed against her soft palm, her touch lingering in his mind.
After saying their goodbyes a second time, Deku disappeared completely. Luna hoped he would be okay and at least get his side checked out by a doctor.
It was truly nice to meet him. He seemed like such a nice person. If he lived close by, Luna hoped to run into him sooner or later. She mentally scolded herself for forgetting to ask if she could have his number so they could hang out. Well, guess she'd have to hope she'd run into him again or he'd return to her apartment.
Little did Luna know, Deku was coming around a lot more than she thought.
Completely unbeknownst to her, the person she rescued started following her almost everywhere she went. Without any lackeys, Deku drove a van to track Luna almost everywhere. He found out she worked at a wedding cake shop most of the week and would do random things on her off time such as walk at a park, go to the mall, those sorts of things. Her boss was a just a random cake baker and designer who owned a few stores around the city. Never once did he see her with any friends, which was a bit odd. Almost all targets he tracked would at least visit friends at least once. She didn't even visit family from the looks of it. Then again, Luna only moved here such little time ago. He double-checked with another resource to be sure she just moved here, and she indeed came from America only a couple months ago.
Deku also took the liberty of testing the pill Luna tried to give him. Better safe than sorry, he would say to himself. After some time, the results came back that it was indeed Ibuprofen, a painkiller. No traces of anything lethal. She hadn't tried to poison him after all.
After getting a mole of his in the police department to check for any files on this Luna Solace, not even so much as a warning existed. Deku thought for some time about it.
Perhaps it was just his lucky day. Maybe she was genuinely a concerned citizen worried about his well-being that night.
How rare. At least, for him.
However, suspicion rose in the pro villain when the girl took a trip to a location she hadn't gone before…
"Ah, so this is Hana Park? How lovely!" Luna delightfully said to herself as she took in the sight of the meadow-ish park. Several people were amongst the small, yet beautiful valleys of flowers. A variety of species and colors covered the entire area, an army of trees in the distance. Luna inhaled the wonderful smells as she stepped forward, smiling to herself as she explored the area. The flowers were all so pretty, she couldn't choose which one was her favorite.
Time went by so fast as she enjoyed herself, checking the whole area as she gradually got closer to the woods in the background. There were some dayflowers next to the trees that caught the young woman's attention, who crouched down and took in the sight of the cute little weeds. While seeing the plants up close, a trail behind the flowers caught her attention. Luna stared blankly at a very narrow dirty trail leading into the woods. She absentmindedly turned to see if anyone else noticed the trail, but everyone else was accompanied by someone, occupying each other or admiring the flowers. Humming to herself, Luna made up her mind as she curiously entered the woods through the narrow path.
The sunlight shined through the tree leaves and branches, rays of light shooting down onto the earth. Birds chirped and sung, a small gust of wind taking those songs with them through the forest. Luna giggled as her own long hair tickled her skin, having to tuck a few strands behind her ear. Something ahead stood out, reaching the end of the trail. She upped her pace until she reached an odd single row of trees surrounding what stood out in the forest. Luna brought her hands up to partially cup her cheeks, gasping in delight at the scene before her.
Several different gorgeous flowers grew in such a small space, all equally blooming freshly. Complete sunlight shine down onto them with the lack of trees in the tiny clearing.
Luna couldn't help herself. She carefully walked into and laid into the beautiful clearing, taking in so much beauty. She sighed in satisfaction after making herself comfortable, smiling contently while staring at everything. She was so happy she decided to come here on such a beautiful day. Luna wanted to take pictures with her phone but just couldn't tear her eyes away from anything. She found herself getting tired and slowly drifted off to sleep.
…
A silhouette loomed over the girl's sleeping form, green eyes scanning her.
Deku already scouted the area for any suspicious activity and found nothing. Not even so much as a micro camera. He once again found himself in a proven-wrong situation by this girl. For being a villain, he was actually starting to feel bad for doubting this girl at all.
A gentle smile appeared as he stared down at Luna, a tiny blush coming back into his cheeks. The sight before him was absolutely breathtaking. A girl like Luna sleeping peacefully, surrounded by beautifully grown flowers. None of their beauty could compare to Luna's, however. The girl shifted a little before snuggling back into sleep. She looked so comfortable.
A heart-filled idea laced with deviousness entered Deku's mind. Purring to himself, he very quietly came over and laid down next to the sleeping girl. The flowers and grass crunched as he did so, but Luna did not awaken. His face got very close to hers, Deku completely lacking care for the decency of space as he took in her features. She looked like an absolute angel. He didn't think he'd ever seen such a beautiful girl before. Unable to contain himself, Deku carefully took off his right glove and reached forward. His fingertips grazed against the outline of her cheek, trailing down to her chin and pulling back. His fingers curled as he relished the memory of her touch. She was so soft.
Luna stirred from the unknown contact and partially opened her eyes, seeing Deku's face right in front of her own. He was smiling unsettlingly as he stared into her soul.
"…"
Deku was unsure if she couldn't comprehend seeing him due to her sleepy state or if she just didn't mind. Luna muttered a small, "Hello" to him before unexpectedly wrapping her lithe arm over his side. She tried to pull him forward as she settled back down and stopped moving.
Deku held in a surprised chuckle. His body warm with butterflies, the boy wrapped his own arm around the girl and pulled her forward, bringing her into his chest. Luna lightly hummed, burying her face into the fabric of his vest. Deku felt overwhelmed by the attention he was getting, a giddy chuckle escaping him as he shuddered. No one's ever done this with him before. Not ever. It was exciting, yet calming. The boy rested his chin on Luna's head and let himself fall into a light sleep.
A chilly breeze brushed over Luna's shoulder, making her shudder. She pressed her face into the pillow for warmth, which strangely wrapped tighter around her. Something rubbed her back, a soothing motion which made her smile.
Except…she lived alone.
Her mattress felt prickly, too.
Luna's eyes slowly opened, finding a dark atmosphere surrounding both her and a familiar figure lying next to her. This person's eyes were open, his emerald-green eyes taking in her sleepy awakening. Despite the close proximity, Luna did not jerk away in surprise or fright. Instead, she stared at him confusedly while bringing her hands up to rub her eyes. "…Deku?" She asked sleepily, letting out a small yawn.
"Luna?" Deku mimicked, giving her a teasing smile.
"…How did you get into my apartment?" Luna asked, still rubbing one of her eyes.
Deku's smiled grew. "I didn't know you moved. Nice place." He said, wondering if she'd catch on.
"Mmm?" Luna forced her eyes open and tiredly looked around. Her energy returned to her when she realized they were both outside, surrounded by trees and flowers. The girl instantly tried to remember how she got here, and blushed in embarrassment when she realized. "Oh dear, I fell asleep."
Deku chuckled. "I was wondering when you'd wake up." He said, admiring the view of Luna looking so bashful.
"Mmm…you came here today, too?" Luna asked, wondering why he was here.
"Pretty much. Just happened to be in the area~." Deku replied, still smiling his large smile. He was both confused and admired at how Luna did not attempt to get away from him or even show the slightest bit of fear. It was so interesting, indeed. This time he really was expecting to catch the girl heading to meet some shady individual who had it out for Deku, but of course that was another dead end. That didn't stop his curiosity, though.
"Well, thank you for staying here, waiting for me to wake up. Something dreadful could've happened to me. I cannot believe I fell asleep." Luna thanked the boy sincerely. She realized one other thing before suddenly getting up and respectfully bowing to the boy. "Oh, you poor thing. I took up time from your schedule. How rude of me. I am so sorry. I promise I'll repay you somehow."
The butterflies returned as Deku watched her actually apologize to him for simply waiting for her to wake up. He actually stuttered in response, something he thought he got rid of long ago. "O-Oh, it-it was nothing. I just wanted to make sure you wouldn't be harmed." He said, raising his gloved hands up.
Hardly anyone has actually apologized to him before, even before he became a villain. Those who said the word weren't so sincere-they only wanted to escape with their lives. But this girl actually meant it. She showed pure compassion like she really did feel bad.
"H-How about I walk you home tonight?" Deku asked without thinking, surprising both himself and Luna. He never did that, but a deep part of him wanted to ensure she made it home unharmed.
"…You would do that for me? Why, thank you!" Luna exclaimed cutely with such a happy face.
Deku got another furious blush, his mouth becoming crooked again. Trying to hold whimpers of exclamation in. Still on the ground, the boy shot off the floor while wobbling a bit.
Luna gasped. "Are you okay?" She asked, stepping over and gently grasping Deku's elbow. Little did she know she was only making it worse.
"U-Uh, I-I'm fine, thanks." Deku stuttered. He tried to maintain his proper composure. He was Deku, one of the most youngest and dangerous pro villains in all of Japan. He thought he'd abandoned this persona. But it was resurfacing all because of this girl's kindness. She reminded Deku of himself, back when he was innocent and somewhat naive to the brutal truth of the world.
But Luna insisted. "I'll help you walk. At least until you can walk by yourself." She said, still holding his elbow carefully.
Deku glanced at Luna, staring into her beautiful eyes as she glanced at the flowers to make sure they wouldn't step on any. No one who knew him today would bother helping him stand, unless he ordered anyone to if he needed help, which was rare.
She really did not know who he was, did she?
He turned away and dipped his head a little as his messy hair shadowed his eyes, giving another unsettling smile in which Luna did not notice.
Alright, he'll play this little game. He was curious to know how long it would take before Luna would find out the truth. There was a small part of him that didn't want her to know, but that was very unlikely. Almost everyone in Japan had to know who he was by now. Word would get to her eventually. Guess he might as well enjoy the positive attention while he could.
The two of them left the small clearing through the narrow path and disappeared behind the trees, unaware that someone was watching them.
Someone stared down at them through the many branches from one of the taller trees in the back, engrossment flickering in their eyes. A small cooing nose escaped their lips.
"Aww~… Interesting."
