Outsider Chronicles: Princess of Dragons
Getting reborn into a world of fantasy under the control of a self proclaimed evil diety is a pain, but having to grow up as a girl is worse. On the up side, I'm a princess and might be part Dragon. Oh, and I'm not alone on the Reincarnation front either.
So heres an idea I've been considering for a while. Basic principle? Outsider born into the world of Spider. Fairly simple. Difference is, this Reincarnation wasn't intended by D and was brought there by accident, so has some tricks that arent entirely normal for the world. Should be fun. Enjoy!
Chapter 1
Death had never really been something that scared me. I didn't want to die of course, but it never scared me. Of course, I thought my death would be way into the future and not involve a pipe impaling me through the chest. Despite that, here I was, hanging from a wall with a pipe through my chest, slowly choking to death on my own blood. I could vaguely see people running around like headless chickens, but I already knew that there wasn't a chance that I'd be living through this.
Surprisingly, I wasn't in any pain, although that could be because my spine had been severed. All I really felt was sleepy and I knew that once I drifted off, I wouldn't be waking up again.
"I wonder what happens next?" I thought, "Pearly gates maybe? Hope not, if those nuts are right, I'm heading straight down. Maybe I'll get lucky and end up being Isekaied…"
I snorted and nearly choked on a mouthful of blood.
"Yeah sure, why not? Could be fun. I'd love a chance to explore some cool fantasy worlds…"
Confirmed. Unique Skill "Gate"... successfully acquired.
"Hmm, did someone say something? Oh well, probably nothing…"
Without thinking, I shifted and winced at the uncomfortable feeling of the pipe moving against my spine.
"Damn, this is uncomfortable. At least it doesn't hurt. I don't know if I could take that."
Confirmed. Resist Pain...successfully acquired
I ignored the strange voice that was just barely audible as I shivered. A deep cold was starting to leak into my bones, contrasting harshly against the hot stone behind me and the blood still leaking sluggishly out of my gut.
"I really wish it was a little cooler," I thought, "Or maybe not. Apparently death is rather cold…"
Confirmed. Resist Temperature...successfully acquired
"Damn, I think I'm getting delirious," I thought, "Either that or I'm hearing the Voice of the World. Heh, does that mean I'm going to be an Outsider? That could be fun..."
Unique Skill: Outsiders Gift...successfully acquired
"OK, definitely hearing things. Still, if I do end up in the world of Slime, maybe I can get myself a hot monster girl girlfriend? Or maybe some nice fuzzy ears of my own? Oh, or maybe I could be some kind of Dragon…"
Confirmed. Unique Skill: Dragonblood...successfully acquired
"Heh, now that…should be…fun…"
And with that, my thoughts petered out as my brain finally ran out of oxygen and my heart stopped.
Then started up again as I felt myself be pushed down a very tight, damp tunnel and be deposited into someones very large and very cold hands. I tried to protest, but I couldn't seem to speak, only scream and cry instead. Even as disoriented as I was, it didn't take a genius to figure out that I'd been reincarnated. Guess I wasn't hearing things. To bad I didn't seem to be a Dragon. Still, at least I'm not a slime.
I could hear people talking as I was cleaned up and passed over to my new Mother, who smiled down at me through tired eyes.
"Welcome to the world, Suelecia Analeit," she whispered.
Wait, that name sounds fam…OH SHIT, WRONG WORLD!
Sooo yeah, despite my fervent hopes, it didn't take long to conclude that yes, I had indeed not been reborn into the world of Rimuru Tempest, but instead Kumoko the Spider, and as Shuns little sister at that. Well shit, on the up side, I fully intend to stab Hugo repeatedly if he tries his BS on me. He'd have a hard time too because one of the Skills I'd acquired upon my Reincarnation was called Dragonblood and gave my body the attributes of Dragons. Which…happened to include a smattering of grayish-white scales over my body, which were…mostly easy to hide with long sleeves and careful application of makeup. Thankfully, they only started growing in after I could kick out the maids who were assigned to me so I could bathe and dress myself, so no one knew about them.
Speaking of that Skill, there was something extremely off about it and the others I had access to. For some reason, I couldn't access any of the video game aspects myself and instead had to rely on Outsiders Gift to do it for me. The skill functioned a lot like Great Sage, although it wasn't as chatty, which is saying something. It also had an interesting function that let me copy any skill I saw in use, which was even more handy.
Speaking of which, the fact that I had the skills that I did was rather odd. None of them functioned like they should and the fact that I heard the Voice of the World before I died indicated that I was going to be reincarnated into the world of Slime, not Spider, it was all rather confusing and not something that I'd be able to figure out anytime soon.
Eventually, I just decided to roll with it. Not much more that I could do than that.
I had neglected one skill though. My Gate skill was one that I was rather wary of messing with because of how it worked. Basically it let me connect two places in space and create portals between them, assuming I'd seen the other end or had coordinates to work with. The problem is, it apparently worked with places I'd seen only in videos, including Anime. I'd discovered that when I'd accidentally opened a Gate to the spawning chamber where Kumoko had been born and nearly got swarmed by the spiders skittering around in there. Fortunately, I slammed the gate shut before they could get more than a leg through.
I suspected that that particular skill could also cross dimensions since it was similar to a power possessed by another Isekai protagonist in a much more poorly written story and the wording of my wish that birthed it was to be able to explore new worlds. That being said, wherever I ended up would likely be dangerous, so I wanted to at least be able to fight before I went. With that in mind, I waited until I had some actual skills for combat before deciding to do any world hopping.
So, a week before I was due to start at the Royal Academy, I got dressed in some suitable travelling clothes, including some armour I snagged from the armoury and took a deep breath.
"OK, lets see if this works," I muttered and focused on what I wanted, "Gate."
The familiar rainbow hole in space appeared, showing a grimy alleyway in a decidedly modern city. I pulled a face and snapped it shut.
"Right, that works," I muttered, "Not going through though, Gothams shit all times of year. Lets see…can I use a description? Gate."
The portal opened, but before I could do more than peak through, a very sharp looking blade shot through and snipped off a few of my bangs. I caught a brief glimpse of a waterside building, before something appeared in front of the portal and did…something that made me nearly throw up. Then, a taloned hand covered in black and blue scales reached through the portal, wagged a finger at me and then pulled the portal shut. I sat still for a moment until I managed to stop shaking.
"O-oooh kay, that worked," I muttered, "Not going there again though. I'd rather not get trolled to death thanks."
I took a deep breath and centred myself again.
"OK, so I can go to places I've seen in this world, live action and in written form, so the next job is to see if I can travel to other worlds I've seen in animation," I said, "And I know just the place. Gate."
The portal appeared, revealing a clearing in the woods. Hesitantly, I stepped through and instantly, I felt…stronger somehow.
"Huh, thats interesting," I muttered, Wonder if that means anything…?"
I was cut off as the treeline erupted and a centipede the size of a bus erupted out of the foliage and charged towards me, snarling and drooling. It was also at that moment that I realised that I'd dropped my weapon and currently didn't know any magic.
"Oh crap!" I yelped, jumping out of the way as the monsterpeed lunged at me.
I tried to open a portal, but apparently that required focus thats remarkably hard to maintain when your being attacked by an oversized bug. I dodged another attack and turned to run, only to find myself tripping on a stone and falling flat on my face.
"OH COME ON!" I yelled as I rolled over, just in time to see the centipede's massive jaws baring down on me.
I let out a squeak of fear and closed my eyes, expecting to be sent on a new Great Adventure. However, instead of fangs finding soft girl flesh, I felt something jump over me and the centipede let out a hiss as it was thrown away. I opened my eyes and looked in the direction the attack had come from, only to nearly swallow my tongue as I saw a very familiar Goblin on the back of a wolf.
"Welp, looks like we'll be eating well tonight boy!" shouted Gobta, "Getim boy!"
As the rest of the wolf riders charged down the now worried looking centipede, Gobta trotted his wolf over and smiled down at me.
"Hey there kid, what are you doing out here?" he asked.
"That…is a long story," I said as I got to my feet, "Um, thanks for the save?"
"Aww, don't mention it," said Gobta, "Anyway, its probably best if you don't stay out here on your own. How about you come back with us?"
I raised an eyebrow.
"How often do little girls willingly go with the Goblins?" I asked.
Gobta looked confused.
"What are you talking about?" he asked, "Your Dragonkin, aren't you?"
Now it was my turn to look confused.
"How did you come to that conclusion?" I asked.
"Those scales on your arm," he said, pointing at the off-white scales that were now visable thanks to my sleeve being torn off.
"Fair enough. Sure, lets see where you came from. Might as well get something useful out of this trip."
I took the goblins hand and let him pull me onto his mount.
It didn't take long to get to Rimuru City and when we did, I found myself looking around with interest. The place wasn't massive and was clearly still in the building stages, with lots of people running around and shouting to each other and the scent of sawdust and mortar in the air. Judging from the large numbers of Orcs running around, it was clearly after the Orc Disaster, but the size of the city and lack of diversity outside of the Orcs and Goblins indicated that it was likely before Tempest really got off the ground.
As I hopped off Gobta's wolf-mount, I sensed a rather odd sensation approaching and turned to see a much larger wolf, this one with a horn, approaching with a certain adorable slime on its back.
"Looks like you got quite a haul today Gobta," said Rimuru.
"Yep, giant centipede sure is tasty!" said the Goblin, "Oh, and we found a stray in the forest too!"
He pointed at me and I stiffened as Rimuru's attention fell on me. For a moment, I could have sworn that something much bigger, much older and much stronger than me was staring down at me and it took everything I had not to collapse. Whats extra weird is that the sensation didn't come from Rimuru, not really, which suggested that I was somehow sensing Veldora. Why I don't know, but it was extremely weird.
Rimuru didn't seem to notice anything amiss as he hopped off Ranga's back and landed in front of me in his Human form. He looked me up and down, eyeing the scales on my arms, my high quality clothes (not something you can really avoid as a Princess, even my travelling clothes were fancy) and my blue hair. Not entirely sure why that interested him considering it was nearly the same shade as his, but whatever. After a moment, he grinned.
"Well, I guess I should welcome you then," he said, "I'm Rimuru Tempest, the ruler of the Jura-Tempest Federation."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Sue Analite," I said.
At the mention of my surname, Rimuru frowned, before he suddenly went still and his expression became neutral.
"I see," he said, "Can I ask how you got out here? Its a long way to any other cities and you don't seem to have much in the way of supplies."
"I used a skill," I said, generating a small portal in my hand, "I can create portals between two locations. I was mostly trying it out to see it could take me to place I hadn't seen before and I wasn't expecting to nearly get eaten by an oversized bug."
"That certainly sounds like a powerful Skill," said the Slime, "How did you get that."
His carefully controlled expression and voice was starting to unnerve me and I had a nasty feeling that he had recognized my name. Mikogami had been something of an Otaku before he died, so it was entirely possible that his world had So I'm a Spider. If he did know me, or rather my alternate self, it might be wise to nip that off at the bud before he decided to fry me. A quick glance around revealed that only Ranga was close enough to hear and I'm pretty sure the oversized mutt wouldn't say anything. Hell, it wouldn't matter if he did, its not like it would effect anything.
I shrugged.
"Compensation for getting Reincarnated I guess," I said, "I got a few other neat tricks in the bargain as well."
Rimuru's eyes widened and Ranga looked my way sharply.
"Your a Reincator?!" hissed Rimuru.
I smirked.
"Yep, it was a decidedly uncomfortable experience," I said, "Death hurts, surprisingly enough."
Rimuru glanced over at where Gobta and the others were processing the centipede, then turned back to me.
"Come with me," he said.
Without another word, he led me through the streets until we reached the main town hall. Inside, he led me into his office and, after a short argument, sent Ranga away to do something else. That done, he turned back to me with a strange expression on his face.
"Your full name is Suelecia, isnt it?" he asked.
I sighed.
"Yep," I said, "I don't know what was worse, getting reincarnated or discovering I'd been reincarnated as a potential psychopath. Fortunately, I'm mentally stable."
Rimuru blinked.
"Wait, you know who you are?" he asked.
"The Light Novel existed in my old world," I said, "Incidentally, no, you don't have to worry about D, my Gate Skill lets me travel to different worlds."
Rimuru visibly relaxed at that.
"I never thought I'd meet another reincarnation," he said, leaning back against his desk, "Especially not one from a completely different world."
I frowned.
"I'm…not so sure about that," I said, "When I died…I heard something much like you did. I think I even got Skills based on my desires."
I tapped the scales on my arm.
"These are a result of a Skill I got when I thought how fun it would be to be born as a Dragon. I suspect that the Skill gives me the attributes of a Dragon somehow."
"Wait, you don't know how to use it?" asked Rimuru.
"Right now it seems to be passive," I said, "But I get the distinct impression that it'll increase in power as I do, possibly unlocking new powers along the way."
I shrugged.
"On the up side, I know what Outsiders Gift does. It drastically improves my ability to learn new skills from any sources, be they Magic or Mundane in nature."
"That will certainly be useful," said the slime, before his expression shifted to a more serious one, "Skills aside, what are you planning to do about the future."
I sighed and dropped onto the sofa behind me.
"Truthfully, I don't know," I said, "I'm not strong enough to beat…any of Kumoko's lot and, while I could probably off Hugo, assassinating the Crown Prince of another kingdom, especially one like Renxandt is asking for trouble. I suppose I could tell my Brother and his friends, but…would you want to know about a future that can't even happen now? Hell, would you want to know your future full stop?"
"What do you mean?" asked Rimuru, "Isnt it better to know whats coming?"
"Depends," I said, "If its something simple that only affects you and those closest to you, its an easy choice, but what about an entire city? A nation? The entire world? If you knowing the future could destabilise a future that would result in averting one tragedy in exchange for another, much greater one?"
Rimuru stared at me with an inscrutable expression on his face
"I suppose that would depend," he said slowly, "How bad is the event you could warn about."
"Bad," I said, "People get hurt, badly. No one dies though. But if things go differently…"
Rimuru nodded.
"In that case, I think I'd prefer not to know," he said, "For now at least."
I nodded.
"I just hope they won't be angry at the end of it," I said.
I sighed and hopped to my feet.
"Well, I guess I should head back," I said, "I don't know if the time between these two worlds is different and I don't want to be missed."
"Feel free to come back whenever," said Rimuru, "It'll be nice to have someone from…another world like me to talk with. Plus, I might be able to help with dealing with those bad guys of yours."
I grinned.
"Sure, sounds like fun," I said, "See ya! Gate!"
The portal appeared and I stepped through into my bedroom. A quick check of the magic clock revealed that the two worlds were, for the moment at least, in sync. Whether that would remain the same or not, I don't know, but it was nice for now.
"Well, you've certainly had an interesting day."
I nearly jumped out of my skin at the unexpected and unfamiliar voice and spun around. Somehow, I had completely missed the person who was lounging in my armchair, although a second look revealed that I might not have actually missed them and sent my stomach down to join the Teretect Mother in the depths of the Elroe Labyrinth.
Sat in the chair as if it was a gaming chair was a rather assuming looking teenager with long, black hair, pasty pale skin, kaleidoscopic eyes wearing a Japanese high schoolers uniform and a pair of glasses. Oh, and a rather terrifying expression that had me backing up to the other side of the room before I could fully comprehend who she was.
"W-what the fuck are you doing here?!" I stuttered.
"I should be asking you that," said D, getting to her feet and stalking towards me, "I was sure that I'd blocked Souls from outside unless I let them in, so where did you come from? And with skills from that old fool Veldanava's system at that!"
Before I could react, she stopped in front of me and seized me by the face. I remained completely still as she stared down at me, turning my head from side to side and then forcing me to meet her eyes for a very long moment. Then, she let out a snort and released me, letting me collapse in a heap.
"Ah, now I get it," she said, "You got dragged along with the rest of my little toys when I brought them over. A complete fluke."
I sat up as the evil Goddess retook her seat, still not taking my eyes off her.
"So what now?" I asked, "Are you going to kill me?"
D snorted and waved a hand.
"Why would I want to do that?" she asked, "You might not have been planned, but you'll still add a fair amount of spice to this otherwise boring play I'm putting on. I'll even be nice enough not to limit that portal skill of yours. However, you are not, under any circumstances, to bring Veldanava's brat or that crimson bastard to MY world, understand?"
"G-got it!" I said.
With any luck, I wouldn't have to worry about Guy and Milim was unlikely to have time to check out my world any time soon, assuming she even cared enough to do so.
D smiled and patted me on the cheek.
"Good girl," she said, "Now, I'll leave you to finish levelling up. See you around, little Dragon."
I frowned, my fear now lessened slightly.
"Wait, what?" I asked, but D had already gone.
I remained where I was for a long moment, before crawling over to the nearest piece of furniture and pulling myself to my shaking legs.
"What did she mean by that?" I said, "Level up? Why would I…"
Right on cue, I heard a ping and a screen popped up in front of me.
Dragonblood Skill increased in level. Acquired skills: Sorcerer Spellcasting, Draconic Resilience and Dragon Ancestor. Please choose Ancestry and Spell List.
I stared at the screen that listed a number of options I recognized from my copy of the Players Hand Book.
"What the actual FUCK!?"
And with that, I'm done. Well, that was certainly a lot of fun to write. So, lets get to the fun stuff.
I am not going to mess with any of the video game aspects of Spider because, to put it bluntly, I can't be bothered. Instead, Sue gets a Skill that basically makes her a DnD protagonist. I'm actually going to make an entire character sheet for her. Incidentally, if anyone uses Observe on her from now on, they get her DnD style character sheet.
Her other skills are nothing to sneeze at either. Gate is a lot more than just making portals to different places, which includes basically anywhere she can picture well enough. Of course, that doesn't mean going their is SAFE, as was proven with her second choice.
I have no idea what the timeline for events in Slime actually is, but I assume that there has to be a decent amount of time between dealing with the Orc Lord and Charybdis, simply because it takes time to build a city and word to spread. I'm assuming about a year for the purposes of this story.
Annoyed D is scary. I suspect that Sue currently needs a change of underwear. Fortunately, Sorcerers can take Prestidigitation.
And with that, I'm done. Don't forget to leave a review on the way out!
EDIT: minor change, but after rereading some details, I realized that my current timeline simply doesnt work, which basically means I'll be forced to either change it up or start messing with time. Since I dont want to Narnia it up with the two worlds, I'm changing when Sue starts messing around with Gate from just after her Appraisal ceremony, to not long before she heads off to the Acadamy.
