He has tattoos
Tattoos are hot.
They always have been and they always will be.
It's just a fact of life.
The fact that you've always found them incredibly hot is more than enough reason to like them.
When you discover that Alex has tattoos your already pretty impressive attraction to him goes sky high. When you discover that he has five tattoos you just about go weak at the knees.
The first one you see is a swallow that covers the side of his torso. It stands out against his skin and you discover that pressing your lips to it causes him to shiver, it quickly becomes your favourite spot. Later that night you ask him about it. He shrugs and mumbles something about being in college and 'why the hell not'. The next day you look it up and discover that swallows symbolise hope. It takes a while before you realise just how fitting that the tattoo is for him. Despite all the crap and horror that has happened to him during his life somehow he always manages to come through it. Despite everything he keeps hoping.
The second one you discover isn't really the second one. You've seen it before at work but never really looked at it up close. It's on his upper right arm and more than once you've found yourself staring at it, wishing you could touch it. When you finally get up close and personal with it you're disappointed to find that he doesn't shiver when you kiss this one. Disappointment gone it's still hot as all hell. The blue and silver wolf is beautiful and you find yourself wondering whether he designed it himself. He shrugs when you ask him but doesn't deny it.
The third, a sun on the back of his other shoulder, is discovered the same night as the second. Technically speaking it's discovered the next morning but it's all relative really. The image is bright and stands out against his skin. He wakes up as you press a kiss to it, delighting in the shiver that passes through him, and reluctantly admits that he was drunk when he got it.
Your heart breaks when you discover the fourth. This one is hidden away on his ankle, down far enough so that no one will find it unless of course you're actively looking for one. Two names peer out at you and his body stills when you ask about them. Amber and Aaron are inscribed on the inside of his right ankle. He says nothing about them but from the look in his eyes something tells you that this is a story he's not ready to tell you just yet.
The fifth one is new.
"What's this?" You trace the symbol that has appeared in the centre of his back with your fingers as he steps out of the shower. You don't expect him to answer since he never has. He's never really given a straight answer about any of his tattoos. Not really.
"It called a Malin." Malin. You commit the word to memory as your fingers continue tracing the image on his skin. It almost looks like an infinity symbol except there are arrows in the middle.
"What's it mean?" You're not stupid. No doubt this tattoo will have some kind of meaning just like the others do. After discovering what the swallow meant you've researched the others. They all meant something which is why he got them. Of course he's never told you this but you know him. He wouldn't get them unless they meant something to him. For a moment he descends into silence before finally answering.
"It's Swedish, means you need to experience set backs to be able to move ahead. Patient told me about it and…" It fits.
It fits for him.
It fits for both of you.
You've both had enough set backs in your lives but for the first time in you don't really know how long everything feels like it's come together. You have Alex, you have Sophia and for the first time things feel settled. Content. Happy.
Plus those tattoos are hot as hell.
Yet again that went south of where I planned. Oh well. This was inspired by a picture I saw which showed off some of Justin Chambers tattoos. I know that these aren't the exact ones he has but I looked up the meaning of some tattoos and these ones seemed to fit well for him.
