Darth Nox stood with his back to the cliff and Rezin's sabers at his chest. Darth Nox had no chance. Darth Nox tried to gather a Force Storm around him. For the first time, he felt the effects of the void. He was drained of all his energy and stamina. He glared at Rezin from behind the mask. He felt a "thump" in his chest and head. Then he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Rezin turned to see Ashara barely standing with her hands outstretched. She had used what Froce she could muster to knock her husband unconscious. "You didn't have to do that," Rezin told her.
"Yes I did." she breathed heavily. Although the Force was slowly returning to Nathema, the void still had a pull on Force Wielders like Jedi and Sith. "Let's get him to your ship. I can try to soothe him when he wakes up."
Rezin noticed Ashara reach for her stomach as she said soothe. He reached out to her and noticed she was not the only presence he felt. Well. Now I understand why her vision shows success. She and her unborn child may be able to break through the Nox and his humanity. At least I hope so. Rezin thought these things as he used the Force to carry Nox back to his ship. Ashara followed behind him.
The flight back to the Fleet was uneventful. Rezin used the quiet to review the fight in his mind. For the first time in years, he felt like himself again. Valkyria was right. He had been holding back since becoming Manda'lor. As the realization hit him, Darth Nox stirred in the back of the ship. Rezin could hear Ashara talking with him. As Nox began to draw on the Force, he heard Ashara tell him she was pregnant. That they were going to have a child. Rezin did not expect an immediate change in his Sith adversary and so he was not the least bit surprised when Nox continued to pull on the Force. Rezin stood up and quickly made his way to the back of the ship. Once there, he used his power in the Force to silence the energy that Nox was building. "You would risk your wife and unborn child out of anger alone?" Rezin stated. He did not give Nox time to answer, "Weak and pathetic."
Darth Nox cut off his building response and glared at Rezin. Ashara tried to approach her husband again. He let her and she leaned into him.
Time passed by in silence. Rezin stood against the bulkhead. Ashara stayed by Nox. Nox simply starred at Rezin. Rezin didn't even attempt to reach out and try to read what was going on through the Force. Eventually, the ship's systems alerted them that they were dropping out of hyperspace and approaching the fleet over Korriban. Rezin returned to the cockpit and brought his ship into its hanger bay on the Skyline. Three Mando'ade Votyc met them as they landed and took Darth Nox to a cell. Ashara followed. Valkyria walked up to her husband and asked how it went.
"Everything went as expected. She was telling the truth." Rezin told his wife.
"So that's why she isn't in cuffs as well?" Valkyria questioned. Rezin nodded. "You seem more relaxed than when you left. I take it you figured out more than how to end the war." Rezin knew her questioning statement was more of a rhetorical thing than actually asking. He knew she could sense the change in him. A silent nod was all he offered in response. He felt ready to lead the Mandalorian people into the future. He was also ready to lead his Viridian people into the Mandalorian culture completely.
It wasn't until the next morning that Rezin went to meet with Darth Nox.
"Manda'lor" came the reply as he walked into the detention area. He looked at the officers on duty and motioned for them to open the doors leading to the cells. "Ashara Zavros is with Darth Nox. She has refused to leave him. We have followed our orders and let her remain by his side."
"Good. Maybe she can get him to calm down some." Rezin replied. He walked into the corridor leading to the cells. Rezin noticed the ysalamiri by the cell. He opened the door and stepped inside.
Darth Nox stood to meet Rezin. Ashara pulled him back down. "Why haven't you killed me yet?" Darth Nox asked.
Rezin didn't hesitate with his response. "I do not want to. Ashara came to me asking for help. She fears for you. You and your colleagues cannot stop what is to come. Zealous will be Emperor." Rezin wasn't sure if he was really listening or what. Rezin continued, "She has seen a potential future. A future where you lead the Dark Council under Emperor Zealous. A future where you and your family are the second strongest sith in the galaxy." Nox continued to offer up no retort. Rezin waited several long minutes before turning to Ashara, "You are welcome to stay in a room close to here. We have it set up for you if you desire. You are also welcome to stay here with him if you want." Rezin then turned to leave.
Darth Nox rose, "Do you not fear having a Sith roaming your ship?" He was referring to Ashara.
"No. I am not her enemy and Ashara is not my enemy. She has done nothing to us here. She could leave today for the Empire and we would not stop her." Rezin responded. He did not turn back though. He was baiting Nox to see if he would attack. The mighty Sith assassin did not move. Rezin left the cell. This will take a while he thought as he left for the bridge.
