Not much had changed a week later. The fleet was still over Korriban and Darth Nox was still in their prison cells. Rezin stood staring at a map of an academy on Korriban. It had become the last stronghold of Sith on the planet. The Mandalorians had yet to break through their defenses. Lyd was at his side also looking at the map. Her assistance had proven invaluable during the initial assault and Rezin desired for his new apprentice to have more experience.
The academy was shoved back into a high cliff. The cliff surrounded the entrance, forcing any newcomers to take a narrow pathway up steep stairs to enter it. There were large balconies higher up. Rezin noted that these would be a problem. Due to the cliffs and narrow passages, they would not be able to heavy armor to crack the defenses. Rezin also ruled out orbital bombardment. He needed to get into the academy. They had something that could turn the tide.
Several more hours went by before Rezin formulated a plan that he felt would work. He called in his top commanders and closest friends.
Once Valkyira, Revan, M, Alli, and Garn arrived, he shared his plan. "I will lead a small strike force and penetrate the academy. We will come down from the cliffs on the west side. This will put us close to their council chambers." Rezin informed his closest friends.
"What are we after?" Valkyria asked. She had seen the change in her husband since capturing Darth Nox. She wanted to know if he was going after what she thought he was.
Rezin turned to look at her. "In the council chambers, there is a holo recording of their plans to remove the Old Sith from power. This included Darth Nox and much of the current Dark Council. If we can get our hands on that recording, we can turn those who have not sided with Zealous. Once he has the backing of the majority of the Dark Council, his rise to power is all but assured."
Everyone was silent as Manda'lor revealed his plans. He was right. This would make the war end much sooner than anyone expected. Revan was the first to speak up. "How do you know about this?"
Rezin turned to M. "I had a vision of it. The Key to winning the war." She responded. They all knew M had an extremely strong connection to the Force. Her Force visions had saved them in the past. She was the reason they hit Korriban when they did. Her confirmation was all they needed to move forward.
"Rezin, who is part of the strike team?" Valklyria asked. She thought she already knew the answer.
"Myself, Lyd, Revan, and Alli will make up the team." He turned to Garn for the next part. "We need a distraction."
Garn thought for a minute. "We will launch a full frontal assault. Artillery bombardments and quick hit-and-run strikes by our fights should be enough."
Rezin nodded. He turned to Valkyria. "Please put together a team to back us up. You will need to enter behind us about 5 minutes after we breach. If we are unable to make it to the chamber, your task will be to get there and obtain the recording. If we make it there, start targeting the leadership of the Sith. We will still need to capture the academy if we can."
Valkyria didn't look the least bit surprised. "I have my team ready. Bastila will be joining me as well as two of your special forces squad." She knew that she needed the best and who better than the wife of the Savior of the Old Republic and two of Manda'lor's special squad to go with her?
Once everyone agreed, Rezin dismissed everyone to prepare. Lyd spoke up for the first time. "Is this going to work? Can we end this war quickly with this information?"
Rezin stood in silence for a minute. "I think so, yes. If this will turn the council to back my brother, then his forces will swell in size and the war can end quickly. Or at least end with a decisive victor." Lyd processed what he had said. She was very new to all of this. She trusted her former teacher and now master of the Force. She knew what he could do when determined. She, like Valkyria, saw the change in him and would follow him to the ends of the galaxy if he asked it.
For Rezin, he knew this battle would be the turning point. No, he knew it would be the shattering point. One way or another, the Mandalorians or the Sith would shatter after this battle. He had to make sure it was these Sith.
