And here's another one for you!

This time, it's not inspired by an official piece of media, but by another fanfiction!

Ya'll know what it is. I know you've all read it.

Vytal Festival

(Inspired by Tournament Arc and Boku No Hero Academia)

It's time for the Vytal Festival! There's no Salem, no Cinder, no Roman, no White Fang or Grimm! None of that chuff!

In this story, it's all about the Vytal Festival, and the tournament that surrounds it!

The tournament, which has been completely reconstructed and redone for this story, becoming similar to the rounds of BNHA's sports festival, albiet with several differences as well.

According to the morals of Vytal, the festival was created after the Great War, as a celebration of unity, peace, and cooperation between the four kingdoms, and also to demonstrate the next generation of Huntsmen that would be protecting Remnant in the future.

As such, the different rounds of the Vytal Festival have been changed and augmented to better fit the parameters of that message.

The first round would be focused on protecting and rescuing civilians from dangerous areas, and protecting them from oncoming attackers in simulations of realistic combat scenarios. This round would focus on objective prioritisation and resource management in protecting civilians and eliminating threats- Such as Grimm and bandits- To them.

Sixteen teams would move on from this round.

The second round is made up of a giant match between teams in order to rank up points for themselves, being a mix of King of the Hill and Capture the Flag. How it would operate is that each team would be given a flag and a set position that they have to defend from other teams, whilst also capturing other teams flags and positions in order to accumulate more points for themselves, and move onto the next round. This round would focus on offensive and defensive capabilities, and the ability to protect objectives and further manage their resources as they attacked objectives.

Eight teams would move on from this round.

The third round would focus on pure teamwork, and would focus on team versus team in 1v1 matches, of which only four teams would move on from this.

The last round would focus on 1v1 matches between individual Huntsmen in training, and would first go into eight matches, and then four matches between the winners, and then two matches, and then one final match, to determine the winning Huntsman, and by extension the winning team, of the Vytal Festival.

But, in a massive change from canon, the teams of the Vytal Festival would not be made up of the canon teams.

They would instead be mixed up a week before the Vytal Festival, as a sign of cooperation between the kingdoms, and were told to work together in order to progress further into the Festival.

As such, the main characters would be a new team, formed in this decision, that would be forced to work together away from their real teams, in order to pass the Vytal Festival.

They would be known as Team ANOR (Aunor (It's a name from Destiny, I couldn't come up with a better acronym, shush)), made up of Jaune Arc from Beacon, as the assigned leader, Neon Katt from Atlas, Octavia Ember from Shade, and Reese Chloris from Haven.

And no one would expect them to pass even the first round.

With all of their internal problems and differences, such as Jaune's leadership, Octavia's ruthless callousness, Reese's poor management of herself, and Neon's hyperactivity and pride, not even their friends expect them to go far, and their official stats in the online posts of the Vytal Festival paint them as one of the least likely to pass the first round.

And yet, after a week, Jaune is able to bring them all together, and in the first round of the Vytal Festival, not only do they pass, but they absolutely curb stomp the competition, and come out on top, using dirty tactics such as smoke and gas bombs, nonlethal poisons, tasers, crotch shots, and every single trick in the book to make up for their weaknesses and succeed.

Suddenly, they aren't a joke anymore.

They are a serious threat.

And because of this, in the second round, they are instantly targeted by the other mismatched teams, and because of this, as well as their internal difficulties, they end up coming in last place of the teams to succeed, and are barely able to scrap by and pass into the next round.

And the same is repeated in the third round as well, as they just defeat the opposite team by the skin of their teeth.

As such, when they finally reach the fourth round, being the 1v1 matches, they must use all of their skills in order to succeed.

However, there is so much more behind the scenes that is going on for team ANOR.

Neon must work through racial torments and issues against her, owing for being both a Faunus and someone from Atlas, leading to her suffering from several prejudices against her that she must suffer through in order to win.

Reese must overcome her indecisiveness and childishness, and mature into a fully capable Huntress that she could be proud of.

Octavia must come face to face with her own cowardice and ego, as well as her morals as a Huntress and Vacuan, in order to understand the viewpoints of others, and understand what she is and what she wants to be.

But the biggest, and most important, conflict of the story comes from Jaune, and his relationship to his biggest foil.

Ruby Rose.

That's right, this is a Jaune vs Ruby storyline, with Jaune as the protagonist, and Ruby as the antagonist.

(How many fics out there have ever done Jaune versus Ruby as a storyline? Like, how many? I can't think of any.)

In this, Jaune and Ruby are presented as direct opposites of each other, with Ruby being a much better leader and fighter than Jaune, and also lucking out on getting on a good team with good stats and members, of which they are projected to dominate the Vytal Festival.

And yet, Jaune and Ruby are also best friends, and are portrayed as having one of the closest bonds between Teams RWBY and JNPR.

But then, something happens. I don't know what (That's up to you to decide), But something happens between the two of them, and they go from best friends to sworn enemies, with the both of them needing to beat the other in order to prove their own personal philosophies and beliefs to themselves.

This entire fic would serve as a deconstruction of both Jaune and Ruby's characters, showing how out of his depths Jaune is, and how damaged and broken Ruby is, and while Jaune has new friends in Team ANOR, as well as his mentors in Velvet and Pyrrha (In direct opposition to Tournament Arc), Whilst Ruby, who has a constant habit of leaving her teammates in the dark about her problems and mental issues, has no one in her corner, and must prove to herself that she can trust those around her, and not just solve everything on her own.

So, the stage is set, and Jaune and Ruby are on opposite ends of the battlefield.

Let the Vytal Festival begin!
