Hey guys! As it turns out, I'm not dead!
Hooray!
Yeah, I had to take a long break for a while. I'll explain more when the next chapter for Ascendancy (Eventually) Comes out, but for now, just enjoy this new idea that I had.
Project Orion
(Inspired by Halo)
Years ago, when most of the main cast were but babies and children, a mysterious plague struck Remnant.
Known as the Rotting, this airborne pathogen would target the youngest of humanity, reportedly killing more than one hundred infants and children in the cities and major settlements via destabilising the molecular bonds in their flesh and bones, and leaving them to waste away and die.
Except it wasn't a disease. It was all a lie.
And the children that died weren't the original children.
They were flash clones, designed to die in their steed.
These children would be stolen from their homes in the dead of night, and replaced by flash-cloned children designed to waste away and die in a worldwide government conspiracy.
An additional four hundred children, either homeless or scattered across the many outlying settlements of the kingdoms, would be picked up by these government officials, and secreted away to the depths of Atlas, where they would be conscripted into a new super soldier program known as Project Orion.
Its mission: To create a new breed of soldier via genetic and mechanical enhancements, emotionless, ruthless, and unrelenting, like a machine, thereby undetectable by the Grimm, and yet creative and innovative, able to think outside of the box and get the job done, combining the best of both man and machine's worlds.
Its goal: To finally force back the Grimm via these new super soldiers, weed out insurrectionist and insurgent groups within the populace, and bring about peace and order for humanity.
And what better way to accomplish this goal and create these super soldiers, than to start with children?
These collective children (Numbering five hundred to begin with), Both human and Faunus, would be experimented on and given enhanced augmentations, both genetic and mechanical, with such things as improved hearing, sight, and smell, enhanced strength and reflexes, increased musculature, almost unbreakable bones, heightened intelligence, and so on.
Over a hundred children would die from these modifications.
The remaining four hundred would be split into four companies, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, with each soldier receiving a numeral to their name (Nora-A012, for example), and would be trained from childhood into the perfect soldiers, utterly loyal and obedient to their mission of fighting for and saving humanity, but also incredibly creative and ingenious, using their training and knowledge to thwart terrorist cells and Grimm pockets from as young as nine years old.
Overtime, as they reached the present of Ruby canon, the Orion super soldiers (Now almost all 17 years old), Now six to seven feet tall, and packing walls of muscles, would receive constantly modified and upgraded suits of power armour to fit into their roles, and now sent out on missions against the Grimm and other groups that threatened humanity. Outclassing even the average Huntsman, these soldiers would remain in secrecy, hidden from the public eye as they protected the kingdoms from any hostile threats.
Beta Company would specialise in stealth missions and covert operations against hard targets, eliminating bandit clans and Grimm hideouts, Gamma Company would serve as wetwork agents for the kingdoms, wiping out terrorist and rebel cells plotting against humanity, and Delta Company would work in logistical support, performing defensive operations around settlements and important targets of strategic importance.
Alpha Company, however, would be the main driving force behind the project. If Beta, Gamma, and Delta Companies were the equivalent of Spartan-IIIs, then Alpha Company are pure Spartan-IIs. Alpha would serve as the main go-to force when major plots and plans against the kingdom emerged, wiping out entire cells and dismantling these plans in the dead of night, and forcing back entire Grimm invasions of settlements and cities without anyone ever knowing.
Until, soon, the existence of Project Orion was discovered by Ozpin.
On a routine mission to dismantle a large gathering of bandits under the leadership of Raven Branwen, one of the teams of Alpha Company-
Ruby-A001 (Codename: Scorpius) Would be the leader, with the rest of her squad composed of Jaune-A024 (Eridanus), Nora-A012 (Lyra), Pyrrha-A074 (Pisces), Emerald-A093 (Crux), and Ren-A059 (Octans).
-Would be discovered by a team sent from Beacon Academy (Team CFVY, preferably), And Ozpin, through his connections, would learn at least a bit about Project Orion and the super soldiers that it created.
Using the political leverage that he has as headmaster of Beacon Academy, Ozpin would bring Ruby-A001's team into Beacon Academy, so that he might observe their reactions, and find out the truth about what had killed those children years ago.
And that's when the problems would begin to arise.
For one, Ruby and her team would continuously sneak out of Beacon and into Vale, going about and crippling criminal syndicates, wiping out White Fang hideouts, and slowing down the rate of crime within the city, though this draws the ire of Cinder Fall, Roman Torchwick, and Adam Taurus, meaning that they now have long term enemies that they need to watch out for.
Secondly, a feud between the Orion soldiers and the Huntsmen and Huntresses, though like the Spartans to the ODSTs, the Orion soldiers do not care about it in the slightest. The Huntsmen of Beacon would begin to feel inadequate when compared to the Orion soldiers, and would continuously antagonise them out of jealousy at their superior skills and equipment. Again, the Orion soldiers would not care.
And finally, complications would arise when Yang Xiao Long discovered that not only was Ruby Rose still alive, but she had also been the one to kill Raven Branwen, creating a messy and violent struggle between the two, not helped at all by the fact that the Orion soldiers were trained almost from birth to be the perfect soldier, and as such are almost always stoic and professional in everything that they do, meaning that they do not completely understand regular emotions or even simulate them.
But more than all of this, the story should serve as a deconstruction of not just a conflict against an enemy that could feed off of emotions, but of the entire premise of the Huntsmen, detailing the entire system that governs them, its shortcomings, and how Project Orion was designed as an answer to every single one of those flaws.
But, the Orion soldiers would not allow any of these to stop them, as they, along with the rest of Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta companies, would continue to act and work against Cinder's conspiracy, eliminating her factions and agents in not just the city, but across all of Vale, and even outside of it, in order to safeguard both humans and Faunus from harm.
To protect all of humanity- As is their duty- They would be ready to give up anything to fulfil their mission.
Including their own lives.
As I always say, if you want to use this idea, then by all means, go right ahead! And as always, stay safe, stay healthy, and I shall see you all next time!
Titanmaster117 out!
