Okay, now this is definitely the last idea of this batch. Definitely.

Hopefully.

The One Path

(Inspired by Halo and The Mandalorian)

Within the world of Remnant, there are many different creeds and cultures that govern the Huntsmen that walk its surface. There are the honourable and the honourable, the mercenaries and the kingdom-bound soldiers, the hero and the villain, the lawful and the bandit, and so on, so forth, all of them fighting for their own personal beliefs and desires, either money or blood or entertainment or research or so on, so forth.

But there are also those who fight for more spiritual reasons.

There are Huntsmen- Entire sects and communities of Huntsmen- That ascribe a religious aspect to defeating their enemies- Into killing the Grimm.

The most famous of these religious sects is the collection of sects known as the Pathfinders.

The Pathfinders are a loose confederation of religious communities and beliefs, ranging from individual cults to much larger spiritual groups, centred around a unified worship of the God of Light, expressed and practiced through slaughter of the Grimm, and bonded together under a single creed:

I will never be cruel, nor will I ever be cowardly
I will never show mercy to any of my enemies
I will save those in need, and make the monsters feel my wrath
Hush now little demon, for this is our One Path

The Pathfinders are centred around the belief of the One Path, in that the God of Light has blessed its Huntsmen and warriors with the powers of aura and semblances for the purpose of protecting Remnant's life and people from the Creatures of Grimm, and only through the slaughter of the devil brother's monsters may the faithful ascend through the One Path and join their father in eternal paradise. There are many different practices and interpretations of these scriptures, but both this creed and spiritual belief are believed and accepted by the various groups that make up the Pathfinders.

However, there is also a large majority within the Pathfinders that worships Silver-Eyed Warriors, with various cults and churches believing that those with silver eyes and the powers that come along with it are heralds and prophets to the God of Light himself...

And Ruby Rose, Silver-Eyed Warrior and Huntress in training, is one of these prophets.

Ruby, in this universe, was born into a silver eye worshipping church known as the Compass after her wounded mother, pregnant yet dying, was found by them. It was within this church, and the wider Pathfinder community, that Ruby was raised into adulthood, becoming a pious, deeply spiritual woman who commanded respect and reverence from her followers, yet had difficulty interacting with other people her age, even in the Compass and wider Pathfinder community, half because of her status as a person of reverence and worship within the community of faiths, and half because of her stoic, standoffish nature due to being raised in a more secluded manner than the others. This would lead her to develop a cool and collected personality, always remaining calm in a situation, even when facing down a horde of Grimm on her own. In fact, it was through the destruction of an entire Grimm horde that she gained the title of 'Unfettered Champion', and the reputation that came with it.

However, it was this destruction of an entire horde of Grimm that brought the Compass church, and the Pathfinders as a whole, into both Salem and Ozpin's attention.

Salem, now knowing that Ozpin may have an entire army of warriors that not only worship the God of Light, but also dedicate themselves to fighting the Grimm, and have their own Silver-Eyed Warrior to boot, sends both her agents and swarms of Grimm to attack the Pathfinders, intending to wipe them all out completely, including their Silver-Eyed Warrior. However, instead of a one-sided slaughter like she had envisioned, the Pathfinders had fought back ferociously, whipped into a religious fervour by their priests and leaders to believe this to be a test of their faith by the god that they worship, and turn the slaughter into a war against the Grimm, angering Salem, and bringing to attention the true threat of the Grimm to the world.

This is what brings the Pathfinders to Ozpin's attention. He had previously known of the alliance of faiths, but upon seeing their real strength, and the fact that they had a Silver-Eyed Warrior in their grasp- The child of Summer Rose, no less- Meant that he needed to bring them into his alliance against Salem, and bring Ruby under his protection in Beacon.

However, there would be conflicts of interest that would break out between the religious Huntsmen of the Pathfinders, and the more secular communities within Vale, not to mention conflicts within the various communities of Pathfinders themselves, as more extremist cults begin to clash with moderate churches.

Then there is Ruby Rose herself, who is brought into Beacon, and encounters Yang Xiao Long, her sister. Yang, of course, is happy to see her again, and tries to reconnect with her sibling, but finds herself continually stonewalled by Ruby, who herself has difficulties removing herself from her ties and upbringing within the Pathfinders and Compass, as well as relating to her peers and fellows as people and as warriors, to the point where most of her character development is spent exploring how detached she is from the life outside of her faith.

However, the biggest themes that would dominate this story are that of faith and religion. This is not a story about condemning religion, but about exploring the different types of spiritual beliefs that would arise on a world like Remnant, what they teach and how they interact with each other, and the various conflicts of ideology that can spring up from it.

It is also a story about personal faith, and what people choose to believe in, wherever they be theist, atheist, or agnostic.

So no religion bashing, please?
