68. Chapter 67

Chapter 67: CatNap Vs Baba Chops: A Dreadful Night

It was late at night. CatNap was alone in his apartment as he looked at the time on his phone.

"DogDay has 3 hours until he comes home." He said, "This is perfect, because I'm gonna go see what Baba Chops wants at Verygreen Park. Well, no time to waste."

CatNap would then be on his bicycle and on his way to Verygreen Park. He was peddling casually since he had plenty of time, 3 hours to be exact.

When CatNap arrived at Verygreen Park, he looked around and was worried.

"This is a bad idea…" He said, "I mean, it's 6PM and the park is gonna close at 9PM, but I feel like something bad might happen… Maybe a trap? Maybe a set-up? I don't know anymore…"

"Howdy, CatNap." A voice said, "Glad ya made it."

CatNap turned to see Baba Chops again.

"Oh, Baba!" He said as he cleared his throat, "So, I'm here, what's going on?"

"I'll tell ya what's going on…" Baba replied, "It's, uhhh… It's complicated, but I don't want ya to tell anyone about it, not even DogDay… I know how much he hates me for living life like you, but in a negative way…"

"Is that true?"

"No, it ain't. He's just making shit up just so ya can be with him."

CatNap was surprised.

"He lied to me about you?" He said, "I never would have thought he would do something like that, just to protect me…"

"Protecting ya for zero reasons…" Baba said, "I know it's hard to take it in, but do it for me. We will fix this eventually. Just… give me time."

CatNap sighed.

"Alright…" He said, "I won't tell him about your truth, and I won't tell anyone about what's going on here…"

"Thank you." Baba said, "Now, here's what I'm gonna tell ya… I need ya to know that… I used to be friends with the victims of the double kidnapping."

"No shit, really?"

"Really, but I ain't tell ya who they are. I think it's best if you and your friends figure out who they are for themselves…"

"Ok… I guess it's going to be a guessing game then…"

"Heh, sure is…"

"Right, is… that it?"

"Well… Not yet… I heard you play Duel Monsters, yeah?"

"I do. Do you? If so, then I brought my deck and Duel Disk along for the ride here."

"Read my mind like a damn book! Come on, let's have some fun before ya head back!"

CatNap smiled and chuckled.

"Right, let's go!" He said,

CatNap never felt this feeling before. To be hanging out with someone that's similar to him in who he is… Feeling the same way as him… Talking the same way as him… Whatever it is, he's sure he and Baba would get along. They got onto the Dueling Field in Verygreen Park and activated their Duel Disks.

"I won't go easy on ya, CatNap." Baba said, "But I also won't go hard."

"So, you'll go medium on me, then?" CatNap wondered,

"I'm not sure if that made any sense, but yeah. Let's do this!"

The two critters shouted, "Duel!" to start their first time dueling each other.

Turn 1

CatNap: 4000

Baba Chops: 4000

CatNap went first as he looked at his hand of 5 cards and felt… disgusted.

"Damn, what is this?" He said to himself, "I only have 1 monster being Dramaturge Of Despia. What business will he bring to the table? Probably nothing…"

CatNap then sets 2 cards face-down in his Spell/Trap Zones.

"I set 2 and pass the turn to you." He said,

"Oh? What's going on?" Baba wondered, "Bad hand?"

"I guess…"

"Don't worry, I'll make this duel exciting! Watch!"

Baba then draws to start Turn 2. She looked at her hand and smiled.

"Alright, let's do this!" She said as she played a monster, "I summon Vendread Revenants in Attack Position!"

Vendread Revenants were Normal Summoned in Attack Position with 1800 ATK Points.

"Oh boy, a horde of zombies." CatNap said, "My night's complete."

"Time for battle!" Baba said,

"Shit!"

The Battle Phase started.

"Vendread Revenants will attack ya directly!" Baba said,

The Vendread Revenants zombies went to attack CatNap and dealt 1800 points of damage to him, leaving him with 2200 Life Points.

"Hmm, how come you didn't do anything?" Baba wondered,

"I… I want to hold out until either my Life Points are on the brink or something is in my way…" CatNap said,

"Figures."

Baba then sets a card face-down in her Spell/Trap Zone.

"I'll just set this here card and end my turn." She said,

CatNap sighed heavily after drawing a card to start Turn 3.

CatNap: 2200

Baba Chops: 4000

"What the hell…" He said to himself as he looked at the card he drew, "Well, if this is gonna help me until I find what I want, then so be it…"

CatNap then played a Spell Card.

"I activate Swords Of Revealing Light!" He said,

"Ehh?" Baba wondered as she saw 5 swords out of light come down from above, "What's this?"

"While this card is face-up on the field, you cannot attack for the next 3 turns."

"Well that sucks!"

"I'm sorry, but it is what it is. I end my turn."

"Oh, well, ok!"

Baba draws to start Turn 4.

"Hmmm… Ok, this should do." She said as she Normal Summoned another monster from her hand after putting the card she drew aside, "I summon Vendread Houndhorde in Attack Position!"

Vendread Houndhorde was Normal Summoned in Attack Position with 0 ATK Points.

"More zombies?" CatNap wondered, "And they're… dogs."

"But not anymore!" Baba said, "They won't be out for long!"

Baba then played a Ritual Spell.

"I activate the Ritual Spell, Revendread Origin!" She said,

"A Ritual Spell?!" CatNap said, shocked, "You can Ritual Summon?!"

"As of now, yes! With this card, I can Ritual Summon any Vendread Ritual Monster from my Hand or Graveyard! And since I have one in my hand, Level 6, I'll be able to Ritual Summon that monster right about now!"

"You have a Level 4 and a Level 3, so you have the exceeding amount needed!"

"Yup! So I'm gonna send Vendread Revenants and Vendread Houndhorde from my field to the Graveyard for the Ritual Summon!"

Vendread Revenants and Houndhorde were sent to the Graveyard as Ritual Materials for the Ritual Summon.

"From a walking zombie to a returned soul full of revenge and grudging to fight back the walkers that took everything from him!" Baba chanted, "From the dark, I Ritual Summon, Revendread Slayer!"

Revendread Slayer was Ritual Summoned in Attack Position with 2400 ATK Points.

"Well shit." CatNap said,

"Oh, and by the way, I activate one of my monster's effects from my Graveyard for my Revendread Slayer to gain as his own." Baba said,

"Wait, what?"

"Basically, when I Ritual Summon Vendread Revenants and Houndhorde from my field, they can let Revendread Slayer gain effects after being used as Ritual Summon."

"Oh, so 2 additional effects added only from Ritual Summoning Slayer, huh?"

"Correct. So, to prove it, I'll activate Revendread Slayer's effect substituting from Vendread Houndhorde's effect! I can target a Spell/Trap you control and banish it!"

"Come again?"

"Your Swords Of Revealing Light will be banished!"

Under Vendread Houndhorde's effect after being used as Ritual Material for Revendread Slayer's Ritual Summon, Revendread Slayer used his red eyes to banish Swords Of Revealing Light, causing the swords to disappear as well.

"Oh, you gotta be kidding!" CatNap said,

"Well, looks like you're wide open!" Baba said, "Battle!"

The Battle Phase started again.

"Revendread Slayer will attack you directly and end this turn right now!" Baba said, "Skewers Of Vengeful Revenge!"

Revendread Slayer then jumped up in the air to attack CatNap, but CatNap reacted.

"No, this duel isn't over yet!" He said, "I activate my one of my face-down cards, the Trap Card, Magic Cylinder!"

Magic Cylinder was activated.

"Try to attack? I'll negate the attack and you deal damage equal to the ATK Points of the attacking monster!" CatNap said, "So you take 2400 points of damage!"

Revendread Slayer attacked one of the Magic Cylinders and the other one blasted it at Baba, dealing 2400 points of damage to her, draining her Life Points to 1600.

"Nope, still standing!" She said, "Nice counter, though."

"Heh, just wait." CatNap said, "I still have another trick up my sleeve."

"Ooh, you know how to get me going in this here duel. I love that for a man~"

CatNap froze for a second and got confused.

"What?" He wondered,

"What?" Baba wondered,

"Ok, what the hell did you just say?"

"I didn't say shit."

"No, you said that I know how to get you going in this duel, in a… different tone."

"...Well, whatever I said wasn't necessary. Now, I end my turn."

CatNap sighed heavily.

"You are something else, Baba…" He said as he placed his fingers on the top card of his Deck,

CatNap then thought to himself.

"Is it just me… or do I have… feelings for her?" He wondered, "I don't know, but… she's always moody… I'm always moody… I'll have to give it some time."

CatNap then draws to start Turn 5.

Turn 5

CatNap: 2200

Baba Chops: 1600

"Finally." CatNap said to himself, "A good fucking draw."

CatNap then played the card he drew.

"I activate the Spell Card, Branded Fusion!" He shouted,

"Oh!" Baba said, "A Fusion Spell, huh? Bring it on!"

CatNap then sends Fallen Of Albaz and The Golden Swordsoul from his Deck to his Graveyard under Branded Fusion's effect.

"I'll send from my Deck to the Graveyard, Fallen Of Albaz and The Golden Swordsoul as Fusion Materials!" CatNap said as he started to chant, "Under Branded chaos, unleash yourself under the screams of despair! Fusion Summon!"

A dragon made out of red emerges from the Branded Fusion.

"Unleash your screams, Albion The Branded Dragon!" CatNap shouted,

Albion The Branded Dragon was Fusion Summoned in Attack Position with 2500 ATK Points.

"But I'm not done yet!" CatNap shouted, "I activate the effect of my Albion The Branded Dragon, which lets me Fusion Summon another Level 8 or higher Fusion Monster that mentions Fallen Of Albaz!"

"Which I will not do!" Baba said, "I activate Revendread Slayer's effect substituting from Vendread Revenants! Your Albion will be banished!"

"I will not let that happen!"

"Come again?"

"I'm glad I have this card set. I activate my Trap Card, Brightest, Blazing, Branded King!"

The Trap Card, Brightest, Blazing, Branded King was activated.

"What the hell does that card do?" Baba wondered,

"By choosing 1 Fusion Monster I have, I can negate all other face-up cards currently on the field until the end of this turn!" CatNap replied, "So this is perfect for preventing your Slayer from doing anything to my dragon!"

"Oh crap!"

Brightest, Blazing, Branded King negated Revendread Slayer's effects as CatNap carried on with Albion's effect.

"Now to finish you off!" CatNap said, "But first, under Albion's effect, I banish Fallen Of Albaz from my Graveyard and Dramaturge Of Despia from my hand as Fusion Materials!"

Under Albion The Branded Dragon's effect, Fallen Of Albaz and Dramaturge Of Despia were used as Fusion Materials for Albion's Fusion Summon.

"Coat yourself under titanium armor to shake down the fort!" CatNap chanted, "Fusion Summon!"

A familiar dragon made out of titanium armor emerges from the ground.

"Burn the ground around you, Titaniklad The Ash Dragon!" CatNap shouted,

Titaniklad The Ash Dragon was Fusion Summoned in Attack Position with 2500 ATK Points, but its ATK Points went up to 3700 under its own effect.

"And it gains 100 ATK Points time to total Level if both Fusion Materials!" CatNap said,

"Shit, ya have enough to take me down!" Baba said,

"I do! Battle!"

The Battle Phase started once again.

"Titaniklad will first attack your Revendread Slayer!" CatNap shouted, "Titanic Rampage!"

Titaniklad then attacked Revendread Slayer by shaking the ground to create volcanic rubble that destroyed it, dealing 1300 points of damage to Baba, draining her Life Points to 300.

"Crap!" Baba said, "I'm wide open!"

"Indeed you are!" CatNap said, "Albion! Attack Baba directly and end this duel! Branded Hellfire!"

Albion The Branded Dragon then roared as it shot out fire at Baba, dealing 2500 points of damage to her, draining her Life Points down to 0, making CatNap the winner of the duel. Baba was on one knee after the last attack.

"Baba!" CatNap said as he went over to get her up, "Are you ok?"

"Ugh… I'm fine…" Baba replied as she got to her feet, looked at CatNap and smiled, "Well, ya know how to spice up the night."

"Woah…"

CatNap let her go.

"Ok then…" He said, blushing,

Baba laughed a bit.

"My God, that look on ya face!" She said, "We never really hang out a lot, haven't we?"

"No, not at all…" CatNap replied, "DogDay pulled me away from you…"

"Only because he told ya a lie to make me feel bad."

CatNap sighed heavily.

"What do I even say to him?" He wondered,

"Nothing." Baba replied, "Best to wait until the truth comes to him, hard."

"I suppose I'll wait."

"Oh, by the way."

Baba then gives CatNap money.

"What's this for?" CatNap asked Baba,

"In case if DogDay is home early and before you, ya might as well buy some milk from the supermarket before they close at 9." Baba replied,

"Oh, well, thanks."

Baba smirked.

"No worries, CatNap." She said, "Let's hang out at this time another time, if DogDay ain't home."

"Well… I don't know…" CatNap said, "But then again, he did lie just to keep me away from you…"

"Take care now, and get home safe."

"I will, thanks."

CatNap then rode away on his bike as he headed to the supermarket. DogDay meanwhile was watching it all from a corner of the alleyway and sighed heavily. He crossed his arms, shook his head no and walked away as if he was disappointed in CatNap.
