A/N: This chapter is written as a one shot.
The planet Mobius and its continents itself suddenly faced its new danger, Dr. Robotnik's industrialized ambitions. In a quick blitz, he recently captured one of King Max's strongholds, one of which housed a Chaos Emerald.
The former advisor to the royal leader of Mobius spoke with a cold, mechanical tone, his eyes gleaming with malice. Max's shock was palpable, his fur bristling with anger and fear.
"How could you do this to us?" Max demanded, his voice shaking. "You were like a friend to me!"
"You were but a stepping stone to my greatness!" Robotnik retorted, his laugh echoing through the hushed air. "And now, your petty kingdom shall fall to the power of the Death Egg!"
The castle doors swung open and a battalion of SWATbots marched in, their chrome exteriors gleaming in the sunlight. The remaining soldiers of the Royal Army from this stronghold looked on in horror, unsure of how to respond to the treachery unfolding before them.
"We must do something!" Alicia whispered urgently, her hand on the hilt of her secretive sheathed sword.
Max nodded, steeling himself. "Notify the Freedom Fighters. We must prepare for the worst." He whispered to her.
Alicia took off at a sprint, as King Max distracted his once-been close friend corrupted into his darker self, her boots pounding the marble floor as she dashed towards the communication room.

As Sonic sped through the neon-lit streets, dodging the occasional robots sent after him, he could feel the energy of the Emeralds he was searching for drawing him closer. His instincts had never led him astray before, and he trusted them now more than ever. The air grew thick with anticipation as he approached a massive, gleaming gate, adorned with the image of a single, pulsing emerald. It was the stronghold that Robotnik recently attacked for his intended target. Its giant robotic commander has taken the stronghold's Chaos Emerald.
"This must be the place," Sonic murmured, his eyes narrowing as he saw the gate was surrounded by a veritable army of Robotnik's minions. He took a deep breath, his muscles tensing. "Time to show them what real entertainment looks like!"
With a battle cry, Sonic charged into the fray, his speed and agility leaving the robots in a blur of confusion. He zipped through their ranks, leaving a trail of sparks and metal debris in his wake.
"Oh, this is gonna be fun," Sonic said with a grin, bracing himself for the challenge ahead. The robot before him was colossal, with a round body, two massive arms ending in pincer-like claws, and a head that resembled a giant pinball machine. The robot let out an ear-piercing screech, its eyes narrowing as it targeted the hedgehog.
"Welcome to your doom, Sonic!" The robot's mechanical voice boomed, echoing through the park. "Prepare to be defeated by the mighty...Pinball Basher 4000!"
The Pinball Basher 4000 launched a barrage of pinballs at Sonic, each one glowing with a sinister energy. Sonic leapt into action, dodging and spinning through the onslaught. He quickly realized that the pinballs were not just a random attack but a part of the robot's core mechanism. As the balls shot out, they hit targets on the robot's body, charging it up for a devastating strike.
The hedgehog had to think fast. He couldn't just keep running and dodging forever. He had to find a way to put a stop to this chaos. Spotting a series of switches on the robot's back, Sonic took a chance. With a burst of speed, he shot through the air, his quills sharpened like knives, and slammed into the robot's back, flipping the switches in rapid succession.
The Pinball Basher 3000 stumbled, its movements erratic, as its systems malfunctioned. The cage around the Chaos Emerald cracked open, the emerald pulsing with a fiery light. Sonic didn't waste a moment. He dashed up the robot's arm, dodging the flailing claws, and grabbed the Emerald. The robot's head slammed down in a final, desperate attempt to crush him, but Sonic was already on the move.
With the Chaos Emerald secured, Sonic leaped from the robot's arm and hit the ground running.
The hedgehog vanished into the distance, the Chaos Emerald's power coursing through him, making his fur stand on end. He knew he was getting closer to his ultimate goal, but the battle was far from over. As he raced through the Spring Yard, the ground trembled beneath his feet, hinting at the dangers still to come.
