"Awe, don't you feel better now?" Rena smiled as she picked Maria up from the ground.
Rena quickly cleaned and changed Maria as Rosa stood by. Rosa initially offered advice, but Rena had already done it before she said anything. Rosa eventually left Rena alone and let her take care of it. She smiled as she saw Maria smiling again and reaching out for Rena.
"Awe!" Rena instantly hugged her. "You're so kyute!"
"For someone who wanted to do this for practice, you sure knew what you were doing." Rosa giggled.
"Well, Chie-Sensei had to change her while we were in class," Rena explained. "Me, Satoko, and Rika all asked if we could watch to learn how to do it in case she wasn't there to help."
"So that explains how Satoko knew how to change her and didn't need to wake me up." Rosa sighed. "That's nice of all three of you doing that, though."
"Well, we figured you could use the help too." Rena smiled.
"Yeah," Rosa looked down and frowned. "Help."
"Did I say something wrong, wrong?" Rena frowned as she looked at her.
"No, just thinking about stuff." Rosa sighed as she saw Maria yawning. She smiled as she took her out of Rena's arms. "I think someone is ready for a long nap."
"Mama," Maria said, her eyes barely staying open. Rosa giggled as she walked over to the crib, put Maria in, and tucked her in.
"Goodnight, Maria." Rosa kissed her forehead. Shortly after, Maria closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
"Awe, you're such a sweet mom." Rena smiled. "Maria is lucky to have you."
"Trust me, she's even luckier to have you in her life too." Rosa smiled as she turned to look at her. "But thank you, Rena."
Rena just smiled and blushed at Rosa's compliment. Once Maria was asleep, Rosa walked over to a cabinet and pulled out a bottle of wine.
"You don't mind if I have a glass, do you?" Rosa asked and pulled out a wine glass. "I always have a little wine before I go to bed."
"Oh, can I have some too?" Rena smiled. "I never had wine before."
"Rena, you're underage." Rosa sighed. "You're not supposed to drink."
"Oh please, Rosa?" Rena held her hands. "I promise I won't ask for that much, and I only want to try some cause you're drinking some."
Rosa looked at Rena for a moment before pulling out another glass.
"Just one, and that's it." Rosa started to open the bottle. "And under no circumstance do you tell anyone I let you drink."
"Understood." Rena smiled as she nodded.
Rosa slowly poured herself a glass and then one for Rena. She put the bottle down and picked up the glasses before walking beside Rena.
"Hope you're sure about this." Rosa sighed as she handed Rena her glass.
"I am." Rena took it. "Shouldn't we tap them together now?"
"Sure, why not?" Rosa rolled her eyes before tapping her glass with Rena's. They both took a drink from their glass. As Rosa brought hers down, she giggled at Rena's scrunched-up face.
"Wow, that's really sweet," Rena said, looking at her glass.
"Most wine is." Rosa giggled. "I like the harder stuff, but wine is better to drink when getting ready for bed."
"Harder stuff?" Rena raised an eyebrow as she took another drink.
"Stuff like whiskey or vodka." Rose sighed. "When traveling a lot, I'd get harder drinks wherever I stayed. Mostly because my date ordered something like that, and I said I wanted the same, but I got my taste for it after a while."
"I never thought you'd be a drinker." Rena took a longer sip.
"I didn't either, but I guess that happens the more you drink with others." Rosa sipped her wine. "My sister told me it wasn't lady-like to drink stuff like that, so I'm trying to stick to wine for now."
"You shouldn't listen to her…" Rena sounded slurred. "She doesn't control what you enjoy…."
"Rena, that's not," Rosa stopped as her eyes shot open. She turned to see Rena swaying as she stood holding an empty glass. "You drank that all instantly!?"
"Shhhh." Rena giggled as she held a finger over her mouth. "Maria is napping, remember?"
Rosa sighed as she looked over and saw Maria was thankfully still asleep. Rosa then closed the bottle of wine she had and hid it away so Rena couldn't drink anymore. She then poured her own glass down the sink.
"Oh, can't I have another glass?" Rena frowned. "I think I'm starting to like wine."
"Absolutely not." Rosa took the glass from her hands, dragged her to the bed, and sat her down. "I can't believe you got drunk off one glass like that."
Rosa was facepalming until she heard a light cry. She looked up, fearing Maria was awake, but saw Rena was starting to cry.
"I'm sorry I made you mad." Rena covered her eyes. "I just wanted to share something else with you."
"Rena." Rosa sighed as she sat beside her. "I'm not mad at you. I'm just concerned you got drunk off one glass. That's not what I wanted to happen."
"But now I did, and now you'll leave like mom did." Rena cried more.
"Like mom did?" Rosa raised an eyebrow.
"She has a new husband and baby now and doesn't want me." Rena now lay on the bed and curled up on her side. "I don't want to lose you and Maria now, too."
"Rena," Rosa sighed as she lay next to Rena and put her arm over her. "I'm sorry your mom left you. That's something no kid should ever go through."
Rena just continued to cry. Thankfully, it wasn't that loud, but that didn't make it any better for Rosa to see Rena like that.
"I promise I'm not leaving either." Rosa patted Rena's head.
"Does that mean you'll move here?" Rena sniffled as she kept looking away.
"If the plan goes through alright, I will strongly consider it." Rosa smiled. "I promise you that."
"Okay." Rena sniffled again. "I wish you were my mom and Maria was my little sister."
"Wait, what?" Rosa raised an eyebrow.
"I know, Keiichi and the others say that, and I wish I really was Maria's sister and your daughter." Rena rolled over and hugged Rosa. "You're the best mama ever, and Maria is so lucky to have you. I wish I were lucky enough to have you as my mama, too."
Rosa just stared at Rena with wide eyes as she nuzzled into her chest. As crazy as this all was, Rena looked like a little kid right now, clinging to her mom as she started to fall asleep. Eventually, Rena nodded off to sleep as she slowly removed her arms and got off the bed.
"Rena," Rosa said, still staring at her, before turning off the lights and returning to bed. She tucked Rena in before climbing in next to her and smiled as she saw Rena was also smiling.
"You're a good kid, Rena." Rosa smiled as she kissed her forehead. "If I do move here, you'll be the best big sister Maria could have."
Rosa then closed her eyes as she also drifted off to sleep.
