"So, Mint Chocolate Chip huh?" Rosa looked over at Shion, lying in the bed next to her.
"Like you're one to talk." Shion took a break from eating her ice cream. "Ms. Hibiscus Flavored Ice Cream. I didn't even know that was a flavor until you asked if they had that."
"I'm just saying, it seems a little typical that the one with green hair would pick a flavor like mint chocolate chip." Rosa giggled.
"In that case, I'll dye your hair pink like that ice cream." Shion giggled back. "I bet Maria would find that cute too."
"Try it." Rosa glared at her. "If you thought me yelling at Eva was scary, you're in for a big surprise."
The both of them stared at each other for a few seconds. Rosa continued to glare while Shion just stared back blankly. Eventually, they started to laugh before returning to eating their ice creams.
"You know, I could have paid for my own ice cream." Shion sat down her empty container of ice cream.
"You defended me when I didn't ask and hugged me right after telling my sister to go to hell." Rosa sighed as she sat hers down, too. "The least I could do was buy you ice cream while we laid down and talked."
"Well, I like the talking part." Shion giggled as she laid back. "Any ideas on what to talk about, though?"
"How bout we start with why you're here?" Rosa continued sitting on the bed and looked down at Shion beside her.
"It was supposed to be a surprise." Shion sighed as she handed Rosa the shopping bag she was carrying over. Rosa took it and picked up the card to read it.
"Why did you put, "Big Sis" on this?" Rosa held up the still-folded note.
"You know why." Shion looked away as she blushed.
"Let's see what you wrote." Rosa unfolded it and read it off. "Something special for my Big Sis and Little Sis to enjoy their day together."
Rosa saw Shion still looking away and smiled as she opened the bag. She pulled out a pink piece of clothing. Once she held it up, she saw it looked the same as Satoko's pink button-up top.
"I thought it would be cute if you two matched since you and Satoko are so close now." Shion now sat up on the bed.
"Of course you did." Rosa sighed as she sat the top back in the bag. "I wouldn't say we're that close. I consider you all close to me."
"Maybe, but Satoko probably views herself as one of the closest to you." Shion smiled. "While I'm pretending to be her big sister, you're acting like her mother."
"You stop with that pretending crap." Rosa looked at Shion. "You do a great job with Satoko, and she loves you for it."
"I think she easily loves you more, though." Shion smiled as she closed her eyes.
"What makes you think that?" Rosa raised an eyebrow. "All of you could easily do the same things I do with Satoko. It's not like I'm doing anything special."
Shion stayed quiet for a few seconds. She recalled all the times she saw Rosa and Satoko together and how Satoko reacted during them.
"Rosa," Shion turned to her. "I know this might be weird, but can you pat my head like you do with Satoko?"
"Pat your head?" Rosa continued to look at Shion with a raised eyebrow. "Why?"
"Just do it," Shion stared at her. "I promise I'll explain after."
"Fine." Rosa rolled her eyes as she turned completely to face Shion. "I don't know why you're asking, but here."
Rosa patted Shion's head like she always does with Satoko and Rika. Shion's eyes went wide as she felt Rosa's hand.
"So, will you tell me now what's?" Rosa was cut off by my Shion, hugging her again.
"Your hand feels the same as his." Shion smiled as she tightened her hug.
"Who?" Rosa looked at Shion before thinking about it. "You mean Satoko's brother?"
"Yeah." Shion sniffled. "It used to feel the same way when he patted my head, and I think the same is true for Satoko."
"You kids are something else." Rosa sighed as she hugged Shion back."I wish Satoko had just told me this stuff before, though."
"Sadly, she's too stubborn." Shion sighed as she broke the hug. "That's probably another reason she likes you so much. You're both stubborn."
"What's that supposed to," Rosa said before stopping as she remembered telling them the story about Maria being born. "Okay, you have a point."
"On the plus side, that probably makes it easier for Satoko to talk to you." Shion giggled. "You two have a lot in common."
"Oh, I don't know about that." Rosa giggled. "You might be overthinking that."
"Let's see," Shion began counting things off with her fingers. "You're both stubborn, the youngest in your family; you're both tough and can take on anything, and finally, you both look adorable in jean shorts."
"You had to add the last one, didn't you?" Rosa facepalmed.
"Of course." Shion smiled. "I will say your new dress is adorable."
"Thanks." Rosa smiled. "I got it after I beat Rena in checkers and made her wear the same dress in her size."
"I don't think you're doing punishments right." Shion giggled. "It's supposed to torture the loser, not give them something they'd like."
"It counts as a reward for me since we all matched." Rosa stood up. "She picked out a similar dress for Maria this morning, and I decided all three of us should match for the day."
"Well, I'm sure Rena loved that." Shion got up. "By the way, I'm guessing it was Rena who yelled at your sister this morning."
"Yeah, it was." Rosa sighed as she crossed her arms. "That poor girl decided to try to convince me more that I should move here, saying she didn't want me going through that again. She added that unlike them, she both needed and wanted me here."
"Poor Rena." Shion frowned. "She's also stubborn and never wants us thinking there's anything wrong with her."
"I need to talk with her when I get back." Rosa frowned. "Before that, I have to talk with both of her parents."
"Parents?" Shion raised an eyebrow before her eyes went wide. "Wait, you met both of them?"
"Rena's mom and dad were yelling when she brought me to look at her treasures." Rosa nodded. "Rena was yelling that she didn't want her mom there and was about to say she didn't care about her little sister."
"Rena has a little sister now!?" Shion's eyes got wider as she raised her voice.
"I told her to let Maria play with her until I got back." Rosa sighed. "Speaking of, I think it's time I head back to talk with all of them."
"Mind if I come?" Shion asked. "We could go visit Satoko and Rika at the clinic after. I'm sure Satoko would be happy if you showed up."
"Sure, I'd like that too." Rosa smiled as she walked to the door.
"Lead the way then." Shion smiled as she followed behind her.
