"Do you want to… I don't know, talk about it?" Taylor suggested. "I know I'm just some random Cape you met on the street, but… we're not going anywhere else right now."
She gestured around at the collapsed building.
"Can't your powers get us out of this?" Theo asked.
"I control bugs," Taylor replied, indicating her costume. "So… not so much."
She shifted a little in the space they'd ended up in. "Anyway, Leviathan's left, apparently, but there's no way we're getting out of here until someone with different powers to minegets us out of here. So… why not talk?"
Theo tensed, then sighed.
"Sure, why not?" he asked. "Though, uh… do you know if Kaiser is still alive?"
"Kaiser's dead," Taylor replied immediately. "I know that much."
"Then… I suppose I'm not breaking any rules by telling you," Theo decided. "And honestly at this point I am… probably in shock, but you've been the least judgemental person I've ever been able to talk about this to."
Taylor stared.
"...really?"
"You'll see," Theo said. "So, my – my father was Kaiser, and-"
"Okay, no he wasn't," Taylor interrupted immediately. "How old are you?"
"Fifteen?" Theo replied, confused.
"And Kaiser is Allfather's son, we know that much," Taylor went on. "Or, I'm assuming that's true, that could have been a lie, but one of those two things has to be a lie."
"I don't get what you mean," Theo confessed.
"First Parahumans appeared in 1984," Taylor explained, recalling old lessons. "So the oldest any second generation Cape could be born – and Kaiser's supposed to be one of them – is about 1985. And you were born in, what, 1995 or 1996?"
Theo made several faces.
"So what do you think it is?" he asked, shaking himself slightly. "Also, ew."
"I'd say ask your mom, but-"
"I am never asking my mom anything about that!" Theo interrupted.
AN:
This one relies on assumptions made by Theo and Taylor about how "second generation" capes happen, naturally.
