Asher sat with Everly in the school gym hugging her and trying to calm her down, barely hiding his own anxiety from his daughter. He couldn't get a hold of Allison no matter what he tried, he had wifi in the school and was anxiously trying to message her with no response. He was in close contact with Teddy and Owen who also hadn't heard anything.

"When is mom coming," Everly asked.

"I don't know," Asher replied, "I haven't been able to reach her yet. Grandma said mom is helping people who got hurt in the slides."

"But she could get hurt," Everly said.

"She'll be really careful," Asher replied, "she'll be okay. I'm sure as soon as she has reception or wifi she'll let us know she's okay."

"I want mom," Everly complained.

"I know," Asher agreed, "I want her too."

"Can we go look," Everly asked.

"No," Asher said, "we have to wait here and mom will find us. Your mom is smart, she'll find us."

Allison arrived at one of the relief locations and followed Dr Mah's directions to begin assisting those that had been injured.

"Allison," Dr Mah asked as she worked on a small child.

"Three year old female," Allison recited, "her name is Mika. minor lacerations and bruising. She needs some sutures and if we can get someone a p-o-p-s-i-c-l-e."

"Why a popsicle," Taylor asked.

"Always calms my daughter down," Allison smiled, "they have super healing powers."

"Really," Taylor asked.

"With kids you have to take away the fear," Allison said, "if you want them to trust you you have to take the fear away at the very least."

"Can I have a popsicle," Mika asked.

"You can," the girl's mom agreed, "I think they still have some."

"Mom why don't you go get it and I'll get some freezing in for these sutures," Allison said.

"Is she," the mom asked.

"Just some topical numbing cream first," Allison assured, "Mika can I put magic cream on your knee? It's going to stop it from hurting."

Mika nodded.

"I need to touch your hurt knee is that okay," Allison asked.

Mika nodded.

"I will not touch you unless you are okay with it," Allison said, "I have to have your permission to touch your body. I need you to use your words Mika. I will listen to whatever you tell me."

Mika nodded.

"I know you are scared and it's scary to talk to a doctor," Allison said, "my little girl gets scared too. Your knee looks like it hurts. Would you like me to help it feel better?

"Yes," Mika whispered.

"Okay," Allison said, "I'm going to put my gloves on then can I put the magic cream on your knee?"

"Will it fix it," Mika asked.

"No, it's medicine," Allison said, "it's going to make it so you can't feel it. Then I'm going to put a needle in with some more medicine then we have to wait 5 whole minutes before I can put some stitches in your knee. If it hurts or you don't like it you can tell me to stop or say no. When you say stop or no I promise I will stop."

"Just do it," Mika's dad said.

"Sir I have to have her consent," Allison replied.

"If this was your kid," the dad asked.

"We always give our daughter a choice and explain why it needs to be done," Allison replied, "if she says no or to stop I will stop. I listen to her voice because her voice matters."

"Do it your way," the dad huffed.

Allison worked methodically through cleaning and stitching up the deep cut on the little girl's knee.

"You were so brave," Allison praised, "you're very strong."

"Blouin," Dr Mah called, "I need more hands."

Allison ran to meet her teacher and help holding pressure on a gaping wound.

Outside a helicopter touched down with the Grey Sloan Logo on the side.

"Medical chopper," someone called into the school gym.

"Which one," Dr Mah asked.

"Grey Sloan in Seattle sent one," a woman yelled.

"Dad, Auntie Megan," Allison asked.

Chris jogged into the gym.

"Chris," Allison looked disappointed.

"Allison you're okay no one has heard from you," Chris said.

"I'm working," Allison said, "my first mass trauma."

"This patient," Chris asked.

"Major bleeding needs a transfusion," Dr Mah said, "and to an ER. how's the weather?"

"It's clearing," Chris said, "we'll fly your worst couple but I have to check out your student she's my half sister."

Chris decided to go with what he used with Annie in medical situations.

Allison looked shocked.

"We're all siblings," Chris smiled at Allison, "are you okay?"

"No," Allison said, "I can't get a hold of Ash. I don't know if him and Ev are okay. I haven't heard since yesterday when they left."

"We were all worrying that we haven't heard from you when I left," Chris said, "three hours ago. Allie this is bigger than you know you'll work like this for 24-48 hours yet. I'm going to be flying people out to the nearest trauma centre. I do know that Asher and Ev are at a shelter on this side, they didn't get through the mountains before it started. He turned south to try to get away from it. They are both alive, they are both safe. Allie, I promise your family is safe."

Allison nodded.

"I only have a few minutes on the ground," Chris said, "I get to fly today. I'd rather fly than be the nurse. Allie are you okay physically?"

"I am," Allison replied.

"No injuries," Chris asked.

"None," Allison replied, "Chris I'm really scared."

"What will help," Chris asked, "our sister it's hugs."

"Please," Allison answered, "I want Asher."

"Can I give you a hug," Chris asked.

"Please," Allison replied.

Chris hugged Allison quickly before loading two patients and flying off.

"Allie I'll be back I'll try to get a hold of Asher when I'll on the ground," Chris promised.

Reaching the distant hospital he texted Teddy, Owen and Asher, "I saw Allie. She's helping at a first aid site. There's no reception and the land lines are unreliable. She was doing good work. She hasn't heard from anyone since yesterday and is scared."

The message bounced back from Asher as undeliverable.

Teddy replied instantly, "is she safe? Is she okay?"

Chris, "she is. Tired, it's her first and she probably has 36+ hours to go. But she was doing sutures. She reminded me of you. She'll be a good surgeon. Are we trying to get her?"

Owen, "Megan would like to Teddy and I can't be involved in selecting her class or doing the initial assessments. We weren't with selecting Annie's class. I took myself off the committee and I was chief then."

Teddy, "have you told Asher?"

Chris, "it came back as undeliverable. As soon as I refuel going back to her. The second time I get to take a sister through her first slide and evac."

Teddy, "Who's flying?"

Chris, "I'm flying. I have Callens. She's a great nurse but not good at the rough landings and conditions. This needs battlefield training. We're coming into small places with low clearance in high winds and heavy rain. Callens isn't ready yet."

Owen, "be safe. If you can take Allie do."

Chris, "I want to for a run show her this side of trauma medicine. I just don't know her skills."

Teddy, "It's not Annie in Haiti. Allie can do basics think a beginner nurse skill wise still. She's great with kids when we've seen her work. She likes ortho."

Chris, "I have a fuel lifting off."

Teddy, "keep a full tank please deal with Megan and Avery later."

Chris, "I will."

Asher continued trying to reach Allison and became frustrated when the wifi went down he needed to get a hold of Allison.

"I want mommy," Everly whined.

"So do I," Asher replied.

"Is mommy hurt," Everly asked.

"I think she's helping," Asher tried, "Ev when mom finishes school and starts to really be a surgeon like grandma and grandpa and auntie Annie, uncle Josh and auntie Jenna she's going to have to do this more. Do you know how sometimes they have to leave an event because the hospital called."

"Ya," Everly said, "and they're gone for hours."

"Moms starting to do that," Asher said, "she's out helping patients and being a doctor."

"Why doesn't she help here," Ev asked.

"Because we're 5 hours off our route we told mom we were taking. I don't think she knows where we are," Asher replied, "remember when the weather turned and we heard the slide warnings on the radio I turned south to get below the storm and to the lower pass through the mountains?"

"Yes," Ev replied.

"That's hundreds of miles off where I told anyone we were going," Asher said, "I've talked to grandma and grandpa and they know. We will talk to mom as soon as we can. She will call us or facetime as soon as possible.

Allison stood in the small gym looking around for where she could help.

"Allison have you eaten," Dr Mah asked.

"Not yet," Allison replied.

"Before you see another patient I want you to go grab something to eat," Dr Mah said, "we're at 14 hours here and theres more to go. You need to eat and stay hydrated. I want you to take 20 minutes and eat and use the washroom. You're working hard and constantly but to be any good to your patients you have to take care of yourself."

"I can't stop," Allison replied, "I stop I think about the fact that I haven't heard from my husband and daughter since yesterday."

"Your brother," Dr Mah asked.

"Chris hasn't gotten an update other than they're not caught in a slide but that was yesterday no one knows where they really are and he's in and out so fast that I haven't been able to talk to Chris," Allison said.

"He's a lot older," Dr Mah observed.

"24 years," Allison replied.

"So siblings in between," Dr Mah asked.

"There's 4 of us," Allison replied, 'Annie and Chris are a lot older. She was a surgical intern and he was with the Canadian air force as a medevac pilot when I was born. Then Leo is 11 months older than me."

"Why the age gap," Dr Mah asked.

"Mom had Annie our oldest sister her first year of Med school," Allison replied, "then her and dad weren't together until Annie was almost done with med school and I was a surprise. My daughter was a surprise as well. Leo was adopted when I was almost 2."

"And Chris," Dr Mah asked.

"No biological relationship," Allison replied, "him and Annie are about a year apart and they have the same dad."

"But calling him your brother," Dr Mah asked.

"We're all siblings and all close," Allison replied, "Chris is great. He's a good friend and has gotten really close to Asher. His wife Jenna is a neurosurgeon and diagnosed Everly and did her shunt."

"Do you trust him," Dr Mah asked.

"I do," Allison replied.

"You said he was with the Canadian air force," Dr Mah said.

"Annie and Chris's dad is Canadian and mom is American," Allison replied, "they both have dual citizenship and so do their kids. My family is complicated but we're all family and love each other."

"You have a good support system," Dr Mah said.

"I do," Allison said, "but I go to Asher first. I need my husband, he's been my go to since we were 18. He's my favourite person."

"I know," Dr Mah said, "you will see him again very soon and talk to him as soon as possible. We haven't heard of any losses. We've seen a lot of patients and there's more in bound but no losses. We are only dealing with live patients."

"If someone doesn't make it," Allison asked.

"I have to be the one to call it but we will do everything we can," Dr Mah said, "medevac them out."

"All these kids I just want to see my daughter," Allison said, "I have to know Ev is okay because if they're not okay I won't be. I would not survive losing Ev and Ash."

"You will see them again," Dr Mah assured, "Allison you're exhausted and starving. You need to eat something first. Before you do anything else you have to eat."

Hours later…

"Allison," Chris yelled coming into the gym, "you need to come with me."

"Why," Allison asked.

"Dr Mah is sending you and Taylor ahead to the next spot on the Washington Oregon border," Chris said, "I'm flying you down so you're there in half an hour."

"But," Allison said, "I can't do anything without a supervising doctor."

"We're just running," Chris said, "get you up in the co-pilot's seat for the flight. Come on Allie."

"But," Allison said, "I'm working here."

"Go with him," Dr Mah said, "Allison you need to go ahead Taylor is going and I'll drive down so I have my truck."

"Allie come on," Chris said taking her hand, "let's go bean."

"I'm scared," Allison said, "I've never been in a helicopter."

"I get to do the first one with my sisters," Chris said.

"But," Allison said.

"You're family come on," Chris said, "we have to lift off in 5 minutes. Do you have your gear?"

"I came in what I'm wearing my phone is dead," Allison replied.

"Okay we'll figure out charging it on the other side," Chris said.

"I need to see Asher and Ev," Allison whispered, "it's been almost 2 days since I've heard. I haven't heard, I haven't slept."

"Okay," Chris said, "you're coming with me and you're going to breathe."

Allison allowed herself to be bullied into the helicopter, Chris could see that it was anxiety controlling Allison. He knew from Annie that he just had to take charge and lead her.

"Okay hop up," Chris said getting to the helicopter.

"I can't," Allison said.

"With me on three," Chris said, "one, two, three."

Chris pulled Allison into the helicopter.

"Callen's I'm going to put Allison Altman-Hunt in the co-pilot seat I can do this run with out some one else on the controls," Chris said.

"Of course," Callens said, "I have who with me?"

"Taylor Cloutier," Taylor said, "I'm a third year med student like Allie."

"But Allie is one of ours," Callens said.

Chris handed Allison the head set, "we're too far out to talk to Grey Sloan ER but we can get a message passed that you're with me."

"Please," Allison replied.

Half an hour later they touched down in the tiny community. Chris coming down cautiously on the gravel soccer field. Exhausted and covered in mud Allison, Chris and Taylor made their way into the school gym. They have been working for 40 hours now with only short breaks between patients.

"Dad," Ev pointed, where they came in.

"What," Asher sighed he was anxious and irritable with no news from Allison.

"Dad it's mommy," Ev replied.

Asher wearily turned his head then saw Allison. He rushed across the gym to her.

"I thought," he said, "I thought something had happened. Your phone?"

"It's dead and not working out here," Allison said, "I didn't hear from you for hours and I thought you were gone. I thought you and Ev were gone."

Allison collapsed sobbing with relief in Asher's arms.

"I got you," Asher soothed, "I have you."

"Is Everly," Allison asked.

"Scared but she's okay," Asher assured.

"Where is she," Allison asked, tears streaking down her face.

Asher led Allison to the corner they had been waiting in.

"Mommy," Everly yelled.

Allison dropped to her knees on the mat and pulled her daughter into her arms, "you're okay, you're okay."

Allison's tears fell on Everly's head. Asher pulled both of them into his arms holding them tight, the small family drawing comfort from each other and being back together.

"We should get Allison," Taylor said.

"She needs to do that," Dr Mah said, "if it was my family I would do the same thing. Let them be together and hold each other. That's her baby."

"She's six," Taylor said.

"But it's her family," Dr Mah said, "leave them."

On the gym mat the family of three held each other.

"Allie, are you hurt," Asher asked.

"No," Allison said, "I haven't gotten hurt."

"Mommy you have blood on your shirt,' Everly said.

"I've been helping a lot of injured people," Allison explained, "I'm okay now. I'm okay."

"Are you alright," Asher asked.

"Tired," Allison said, "and I need a shower and clean clothes."

"I have some of your stuff in the truck you sent home," Asher replied.

"I want my yoga pants and one of your hoodies," Allison replied.

"When was the last time you had your meds or slept," Asher asked.

"When you left," Allison replied.

"So we need to find you at both ASAP," Asher said.

"I'll be fine until we get back," Allison said.

"We know what happens when you try to come off your Celexa," Asher said, "you need to get some if it's been two and a half days."

"How long ago did you leave," Allison asked, "I haven't stopped working since we got the call. I haven't eaten."

"We left 60 hours ago," Asher replied, "Allie you need to find that. There's a pharmacist in town that is giving out some medications he's in the school office go ask him."

"Can you," Allison asked.

"I will," Asher said, "I'll try to get you that and food. Your other one, how strong is it?"

"100 micrograms," Allison replied, " My Celxa is 20 milligrams, that dose matters more. Right now just stay with us. We need to be together."

"I was so scared I lost you," Asher said.

"I thought I lost both of you," Allison began to cry again.

"We're here," Asher said, "we're here and we're all okay. I'm good Ev is good, you're safe. We are all okay. Allie it's going to be okay."

"Allison, Asher," Chris asked walking over.

"Chris," Asher greeted.

"Is everyone okay," Chris asked.

"Yes," Asher replied, "we'll be okay we just need to be together."

"How did you get here," Asher asked.

"Chris is doing medevac with the Grey Sloan chopper," Allison replied, "he's flying it as the medevac pilot."

"I have to do one more run into the trauma centre then I'm at my max and have to go back to Seattle," Chris said, "I can't take the three of you with me. Will you be okay?"

"We will be," Asher replied, "thanks for bringing Allie to us."

"She was coming to work," Chris said, "but you two are more important."

"I should work," Allison stood up from the mat.

"Are you okay to," Chris asked.

"I have to be," Allison replied, "we're all safe."

"No mommy don't go," Everly clung to Allison.

"I have a couple more minutes," Allison said, "I want to check your legs princess."

"Itchy," Everly said.

"I haven't taken them off other than when she's gotten changed," Asher said.

"So we need a break from her braces," Allison replied checking her daughter over, "Ash there's pressure marks. She needs these off until morning. Princess can we take your braces off."

"Can I have a bath," Everly asked.

"There's showers," Asher replied, "but I can't take her into the womens and she's not independent."

"We could both use as shower," Allison replied, "Ev lets go shower and get cleaned up a bit you'll feel better."

"I'll go after you two do," Asher replied, "you two shower I'll see if I can get your meds Allie."

Allison and Everly went to shower and were sitting on the mat with Ev curled up in her mom's lap when Dr Mah found them.

"I haven't been much help I'm sorry," Allison said.

"You found your daughter and husband," Dr Mah asked.

"We're together," Allison said, "she needs me. If I try to move she panics and thinks they've lost me again."

"Take your time with your family," Dr Mah said, "I wish I had learned that at your age to appreciate my family. Allison stay with them tonight and we'll figure out how you can help in the morning."

"Sir can you help authorise my medications from the pharmacist," Allison asked, "I'm on an SSRI and he won't give it to me with out a physician."

"What do you need," Dr Mah asked.

"Celexa 20mg," Allison replied, "I've been on it 4 years now."

"So you tolerate it well," Dr Mah asked.

"Its the second one I've tried," Allison said, "I was on a different one when I was pregnant and nursing her but it stopped being effective so the psychiatrist suggested Celexa and I feel good on it. I have no real side effects."

"You said medications," Dr Mah said.

"Synthroid 100 micrograms but I convinced him to give me today's and tomorrow morning," Allison replied.

"Does Everly need anything or Asher," Dr Mah asked.

"He has his anxiety medication and we have enough of her meds," Allison replied, "we have about 5 days worth with us."

"Okay so they're fine," Dr Mah agreed.

"Mommy don't go," Everly mumbelled half asleep.

"I'm not going anywhere," Allison promised, "close your eyes hold on to kiki and bear and I have you."

"Have you eaten," Dr Mah asked.

"Not yet," Allison replied, "too much adrenaline and anxiety to eat. I will when I calm down a bit more."

"I haven't seen you eat since we headed out," Dr Mah said, "you're at two days without food. Allison you have to eat."

"Too much anxiety," Allison replied, "once I know my family is okay I will eat."

"If I bring you guys food will you try," Dr Mah asked.

"Yes," Allison agreed, "thank you for looking out for us."

"Always," Dr Mah said.

Dr Mah brought some sandwiches and fruit over and went to help out with patients, the injuries now minor and easy to treat mostly cuts and dehydration now.

Allison ate a few bites than curled up against Asher.

"I thought you were gone," Allison said, "that I'd never see you again."

"I'm here," Asher said, "I had heard about the sides on the radio and the storms so I turned south to get below it and into lower mountain passes. I took the longer route because I thought it would be safer. But I got turned around and more sides happened. Then we got to ¼ tank of gas so I turned back to the gas station I had passed an hour before because I knew we had the fuel to get there."

"You're okay," Allison repeated.

"We are," Asher replied, "I heard nothing from you I had no idea if you were safe. Where were you?"

"A couple hours drive north of here in a first aid site doing sutures and placing IVs," Allison replied, "I got a lot of experience but I was so scared."

"Of the medicine," Asher asked, "do you not want to."

"Not of the medicine,' Allison replied, "that I lost you."

"We're here you don't need to be scared now," Asher assured, "I thought we had lost you too."

"Never," Allison promised, "you will never lose me. I love you too much for that."

"I love you too," Asher smiled.

Allison looked up at him with a soft smile and he kissed her gently.
