Sky's POV
Zelda stepped into the waters of the Spring of Courage.
The goddess statue towered above her.
To anyone else, it might seem imposing, but, it might just be me, she looked warmly down at Zelda and the others just outside the spring.
Impa gestured for me to turn my back on the unawakened goddess.
The egg robot scuttled by the advisor's feet.
I obliged. Fi began to heat up ever so slightly at the sight of her creator…'s statue.
Link stood a few feet in front of me.
The others were a little farther, on the look out for monsters, but still inside earshot if anything happens.
I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but soon, the heiress's prayer reached my ears.
"I will do whatever I can, as I am right now." Water sloshed as we walked forward. "Even if all I have to give is my faith that things will work out.
"This is the thread that I have been following all this time." The princess stopped. "Even so… All of the research into the relics—if I cannot awaken to my power—will have been in vain."
Wild shifted in front of me. I could tell that she wanted to tell her she would awaken her power. But that would arouse too many questions.
So he stayed silent.
"Everyone else… is carrying out their duties with such grace." Zelda continued. "I am the only one… who cannot live up… to her own potential…"
Wild tried to turn around. I glimpsed fury occupying her face before Twilight took him by the shoulders, and forcibly turned him around.
Twilight whispered in Wild's ear. And a small percentage of tension left her shoulders.
"Princess Zelda…" Impa tried, she had turned around.
I mimicked her.
"Hope is not lost." I said softly. "There's still time to do what I know you'll accomplish… Your Grace."
Zelda stiffened in surprise, obviously not used to being called that. But it was her title. Even if she didn't know it yet, or if she hadn't fully taken up that title.
Zelda turned around. Tears threatened to spill from her eyes. "Sky… you're too kind."
I blushed.
"Are you right to put your place in me, however?" She asked.
I heard angry stomping. Wild appeared at my shoulder. She glared at the princess, but was obviously not mad at her, but something else.
"You're not a failure Zelda!" Wild shouted. Her voice rang throughout the spring.
Zelda looked taken aback, she had never said anything of the sort.
But Wild kept going. She had been keeping this ready for the slightest bit of doubt that could come from Flora.
But now she had a new target.
"You're trying the best you can!" She said. "Don't let anyone make you think that you can't do it! I know you can! You're the only reason my Hyrule is still standing!"
Zelda, Impa, and Link gasped. Wild had never excluded any information of her Hyrule in front of them before this moment.
But she wasn't finished yet.
"You hear me?! You are powerful enough to show the critics wrong! You are not the heir to a throne of nothing!"
Zelda was struck speechless.
Impa had narrowed her eyes.
Link was conflicted with who to join.
But then Wind cried out, "Monsters! A whole lot of 'em!"
"We'll continue this later." Impa said, to both Zelda and Wild.
Said girls both wore dresses. Zelda was in her prayer dress, and Wild in her beloved green dress enchanted with Guardian protection.
Some people would think that Wild wouldn't be able to fight in a knee-length dress and flats, neither of which are appropriate for fights, but then again, they haven't met Wild. And her boundless determination.
Wild slipped off her shoes and stored them in her slate. She unsheathed her traveler's broadsword and damaged knight's shield.
"Yeah." She gave Zelda one last reprimanding look. Then turned to the entrance of the spring. "Let's go."
