"I'm Alex," the lawyer introduced herself as the receptionist showed Allison and Asher in.

"Asher," Asher introduce himself shaking the lawyer's hand, "this is my wife Allison."

"So I read your email," Alex said, "and you two seem to have quite the story. Can you go back to the beginning and explain everything to me."

"How far back," Allison asked, "the most recent incident that broke my arm and clavicle or high school when Asher and I got together?"

"Since this is with your families lets go back to the very beginning," Alex said, "you two are high school sweethearts?"

"Yes," Allison replied.

"What's the age gap," Alex asked, "is this something parents will use to blind side me?"

"My birthday is in January 2015 and his is April 2015," Allison replied.

"So no real difference," Alex replied, "nothing that could get brought up as an issue of power dynamics."

"No," Asher replied.

"And you have children," Alex asked.

"Everly and Andrew," Asher replied.

"How old," Alex asked.

"Ev is almost 12 and Andy is almost 2," Alison replied, "we had Ev our senior year. His dad, his family has never forgiven me for getting pregnant in high school."

"What does that look like," Alex asked.

"Name calling, physical violence, false calls to CPS, going after my medical lisence as unfit to practice due to character flaws," Allison replied, "Grey Sloan's lawyers are protecting my lisence."

They spent the next hour describing what had lead to the most recent incident with Renee.

"I'll need some documentation from you," Alex said, "you two have a case for Renee to be charged with assault and battery. We can look into slander charges. I'd like your records from the most recent injury Allison."

"I'll sign the form then send it to Grey Sloan," Allison replied, "all of our records are there."

"Your daughters won't be necessary now," Alex replied, "they're going to use your children and the teenage pregnancy to discredit you. But we have a stronger argument. I'm going to do some more research. Asher you said your dad was fired and no longer licensed as a pastor. I want to know why. I'm going to reach out to the church and see what I can find. We need to show this is a pattern of behaviour for both."

"Where does our case stand," Allison asked.

"I think you have a solid case to have Renee formally charged," Alex replied, "the police reports alone are good evidence and I think the medical records and some forms from your doctor will be plenty."

"Thank you," Asher replied.

"I have another client," Alex said, "I'll email you the forms to sign and return to me then we'll meet again when I have more information."

"Thank you," Allison replied.

They walked out of the office and drove home in silence both lost in their own thoughts.

"We see Ben and Lily tonight," Allison said when they pulled into the drive way.

"We do," Asher replied, "last time before she has the baby?"

"Ya," Allison replied, "talk her through the last couple things."

"I need to talk him through supporting her," Asher replied.

"Stay calm and advocate for her," Allison advised.

"Hard to do at 18," Asher replied, "I'm so glad your mom and sister were with us to advocate for you and when the cord was on her neck."

"I was so scared," Allison admitted.

"So was I and I couldn't show you," Asher replied.

"I knew," Allison replied, "you were scared with both. You hid it better with Andy."

"Watching you get cut open," Asher shook his head, "you're comfortable in an OR 99% of the population isn't."

"I told you," Allison replied, "I offered you surgical tapes."

Asher shook his head, "no way once was enough."

Allison asked, "if we have another?"

"One thing at a time babe," Asher replied, "let's get though this first."

"I know," Allison replied, "I think we can win and she was so positive."

"I think it will go our way," Asher agreed.
