Oh, Brother!
It was the end of another day at the Pokemon School; Lincoln, along with his friends and family, and Chandler, were heading through Hau'oli City to Mallow's family restaurant to hang out and grab something to eat.
"Hey, Larry." Chandler says to the white-haired Loud.
"What do you want, Chandler?" asked Lincoln.
"Guess that chump didn't learn anything from Lincoln punching him yesterday." said Lynn Jr.
"I don't think it's possible to use the words 'Chandler' and 'learning' in the same sentence." said Shane.
"Unless the sentence is 'Chandler is incapable of learning anything'." said Shelby.
"Huh; I guess it is possible." said Shane. Chandler takes a pokeball off his waist and tosses it, releasing his Raticate.
"My Rattata evolved two days ago." said Chandler with a smug look on his face.
"So, he's a Raticate now." said Lincoln.
"How did you know that?" asked Chandler with surprise.
"I've seen one before." said Lincoln.
"Oh." Chandler replied before he returns his Raticate to his pokeball and walks over next to Lillie, making her cringe.
Soon, everyone reaches Aina's Kitchen and head inside; they soon see Mallow's father, talking to a younger man with the same skin tone and hair color as him, wearing a chef shirt with a orange sash across his chest, a tattered blue apron over olive green trousers, bluish green shoes, and a large ladle and wok on his back.
"No way." said Mallow when he sees the young man, getting his, and her father's attention.
"Alola, Mallow!" said the younger man.
"Ulu!" said Mallow as she runs over to the younger man, now identified as Ulu, and hugs him.
"Who's that?" asked Lincoln.
"That's Mallow's brother." said Alola Lana.
"I missed you so much, Ulu!" said Mallow.
"I missed you too, little sister." said Ulu. After Mallow breaks the hug, she decides to introduce her brother to her friends.
"You remember Lana, right?" Mallow asked her brother.
"Of course." said Ulu. "But what about the others?"
"Oh, that's right, you haven't met them." said Mallow. "The smaller boy with the orange hair and white shirt is Sophocles, the taller one with red shorts is Kiawe, the girl with long blonde hair is Lillie, the boy with white hair is Lincoln, the girl with the red and white shirt and shorts is his sister, Lynn; the tall one with tan skin and magenta shirt is their cousin, Shane; the girl with the glasses is his sister, Shelby; and the smaller boy with the cast is their brother, Shiloh."
"What about the redhead boy over there?" asked Ulu as he points at Chandler.
"That's just Chandler." said Mallow in a nonchalant way, making the obnoxious redhead frown at her. Ulu then walks over to Lincoln and looks him over.
"So, you're the Lincoln Loud boy that Dad told me about in a letter before." Ulu says with a grin, making Mallow blush. "He also told me about how you didn't want to battle in the cemetery that my mom is buried in out of fear of doing damage."
"I just didn't feel right battling there." said Lincoln.
"Dad and I really appreciate it." said Ulu. Lincoln then notices a pink, bipedal Pokemon with a big tail, and very long tongue, standing next to Ulu.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Lickitung, the Licking Pokemon. It checks out whatever's around it by licking everything. If you don't clean off a spot where it's licked you, you'll break out in a rash!" said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"So, what brings you here?" asked Mallow. "Aren't you travelling the world, working on your cooking skills?"
"That's why I'm here." said Ulu. "The Alola Bread Festival is coming up soon."
"It's that time of year already?!" asked Mallow.
"That's right." said Ulu.
"What's the Alola Bread Festival?" asked Shiloh.
"It's an annual event where restaurants try to make the best bread for their customers." said Ulu. "Restaurants try to sell the most bread to everyone attending it by the end of the day."
"Sounds interesting." said Lincoln.
"We should see for ourselves." said Shelby.
"Is there a prize?" asked Lynn.
"Yes; a luxury cruise trip." said Ulu.
"I'll pass." said Chandler. "I gotta get ready to beat that Olivia lady in a Pokemon battle."
"Yeah, get ready to lose, you mean." said Lynn.
"If he won't be there, that makes it even better." said Shane.
Just then, Nina and her Raichu enter the restaurant, getting everyone's attention.
"Alola, everybody." said Nina.
"Alola, Nina!" said Lincoln. Suddenly, Ulu gets hearts in his eyes when he sees Nina while Chandler just blushes a bit; the former runs over to the pancake restaurant employee and drops to one knee.
"Oh, beautiful maiden." said Ulu. "What brings you to our humble little restaurant?"
"I'm... just here to pick up a lunch order." said Nina, feeling slightly uncomfortable.
"I'll get it for you." said Mallow as she heads back to the kitchen. Nina looks around until she sees Lincoln.
"Alola, Lincoln." said Nina with a smile as she walks past Ulu and over to the white-haired Loud.
"Alola, Nina." said Lincoln.
"I haven't seen you since we tied in the pancake race." said Nina.
"Do you know about the Alola Bread Festival that's coming up?" asked Shelby.
"Of course." said Nina.
"My son is planning on competing in the bread-making contest." said Abe.
"Well, I look forward to seeing your skills." Nina says to Ulu, making him perk right up; Mallow soon comes out with a small box.
"Here's your order, Nina." said Mallow.
"Thank you." said Nina before she exits the restaurant while Ulu gawks at her while fantasizing about marrying the pancake restaurant worker with a goofy expression on his face.
"What's with your brother?" Shiloh asked Mallow.
"He's kind of a hopeless romantic." said Mallow with exasperation.
"Kind of like my friend, Rusty, back home." said Lincoln.
"So, who wants something to eat?" asked Ulu. "I have some recipes I want to try out."
"Sure, why not?" asked Lincoln.
Ulu rushes into the kitchen and starts cooking up meals for everyone; twenty minutes later, everyone was eating with vigor.
"This stuff is amazing!" said Shiloh as he devours his food.
"You're a really good cook, Ulu." said Mallow.
"I have been learning from chefs all over the world." said Ulu with a look of pride on his face.
"And if you're as good with making bread as you are with this food you just made, you'll win the competition at the festival for sure." said Shelby.
"Thank you." said Ulu.
After everyone finished their meals, which were complimentary much to Chandler's pleasure, the Loud siblings and Chandler go back to the hotel to relax the rest of the day.
While the Louds were chilling out, Lincoln's Rotom Phone rang; he looks at the Caller ID and sees he was getting a call from his family.
"Alola, kids." said Lynn Sr.
"Alola, Dad." said Lincoln.
"What are you kids up to?" asked Rita. The Louds go on to tell Lynn Sr and Rita about the upcoming Alola Bread Festival.
"That sounds like something that I would want to see." said Lynn Sr.
"We'll show you everything there when we go there tomorrow." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, son." said Lynn Sr. After some more talk about their day, they end the call.
The next day, after school, the group, except Chandler who went to Akala Island to train his Pokemon, head through Hau'oli City to attend the Alola Bread Festival; when they get there, they see all sorts of stands that were selling baked goods to everyone.
"Look at all the bread here." said Shiloh.
"Smells so good!" said Shelby.
"Where's Mallow's family's stand?" asked Lincoln.
"Let's see if we can find it." said Lynn.
The group goes around, looking at all the stands to find the one belonging to Aina's Kitchen until they see Mallow with a look of worry on her face.
"What's wrong with Mallow?" asked Lincoln with concern. The group run over to see what the problem was when they see Ulu with a depressed look on his face.
"Is something wrong?" asked Lynn, getting Mallow's attention.
"We got a problem." said Mallow.
"What is it?" asked Lincoln.
"We had a large supply of Grepa berries we were going to use in our bread." said Mallow. "But Nina came by, and Ulu got so gaga over her that he accidentally spilled them onto the ground."
"Now I can't impress Nina with my cooking skills." said Ulu as he sulked.
"Is there anything we can do to help?" asked Lincoln. Mallow thinks for a moment when a look of realization appears on her face.
"I just remembered; we have a large supply of sour Grepa berries back at our restaurant." said Mallow. "A sour jam would work well with Ulu's bread." Ulu cheers right up upon hearing that.
"I still have a chance to impress the beautiful Nina!" said Ulu with happiness.
"And win the bread-making contest." said Mallow.
"Oh yeah, that too." said Ulu.
"I can go to your restaurant to help grab them." said Lincoln.
"I can carry more." said Lynn.
"I'll come with also." said Shiloh.
"And you'll need me to unlock the door and show you where the Grepa berries are." said Mallow.
"We can stay here and help get things ready." said Shane as he gestures to Shelby, Alola Lana, Lillie, Sophocles, and Kiawe.
"Thank you, everyone." said Abe.
"Let's go!" said Lynn as everyone who was going to retrieve the Grepa berries took off as fast as they could.
Meanwhile, on Akala Island, Chandler was at Memorial Hill, training his Pokemon. His Raticate learned Crunch, his Arbok learned Stockpile, Swallow, and Spit Up, his Vullaby learned Feint Attack and Punishment, his Jolteon learned Pin Missile, and his Pinsir learned Double Hit and Brick Break. During the training, Chandler's Tentacool began to glow.
"All right; Tentacool's evolving!" said Chandler. He watched as Tentacool began to grow and change shape; when he stopped glowing, he had a round, black lower body with eyes and two blue, beak-like appendages and more gray tentacles, while the upper part was still blue, but wider and flatter. "Next time I meet up with Loud, I'll have him tell me what Tentacool evolved to."
Back at Melemele Island, Lincoln, Lynn, Shiloh, and Mallow were continuing on towards Aina's Kitchen and soon sees it coming up in the distance.
"Good, we have plenty of time." said Mallow. Just then, the familiar sound of motorcycles appears, making everyone look to see Team Skull members pulling up in front of them.
"Not Team Skull again." said Lynn. A male Team Skull member with tan colored hair whose bandana was slanted so it covered his right eye, and the female Team Skull member with orange brown hair both climb off their motorcycles.
"Well, lookie here." said the male Team Skull member.
"What do you guys want?" asked Shiloh with a frown.
"We don't take kindly to you all getting in Team Skull's business." said the male Team Skull member.
"What are you gonna do about it?" asked Lynn.
"We'll crush you in a Pokmeon battle." said the male Team Skull member.
"What are your names?" asked Shiloh.
"Fine, I guess we can take the time to introduce ourselves." said the male Team Skull member. "My name is Dredd." He looks to where the female Team Skull member was and sees she wasn't there anymore.
"CUTIE!" a female voice shouts out, making everyone look to see, much to Mallow's frustration, the female Team Skull member hugging Lincoln while kissing his face all over, making him blush.
"Oh, not you too, Haze!" said the male Team Skull member now known as Dredd. (a/n: Dredd and Haze's names are also based on florafion19's Deviantart art.)
"Get off him!" shouts Mallow, making the female Team Skull member now known as Haze, look at her.
"Mind your own business." said Haze as she strokes Lincoln's hair.
"Haze, get over here so we can crush these chumps!" said Dredd.
"Fine." said Haze as she gets off Lincoln while slipping a folded-up piece of paper into his shirt pocket and heads back to Dredd while swaying her hips and winking at the white-haired Loud. Mallow glares at Haze while wrapping her arms around Lincoln, making him blush.
"Okay; which one of you twerps wants to battle me?" asked Dredd.
"I will!" said Shiloh, stepping forward.
"And make it quick; we have more important things to do." said Lynn.
"I'm battling a little kid, so this will be quick." said Dredd. Moments later, Shiloh and Dredd were facing each other.
"How many Pokemon are we using?" asked Shiloh.
"One, I guess." replied Dredd, pulling out a pokeball. "Gumshoos, go!" He throws a pokeball, releasing a Gumshoos; Shiloh pulls out a pokeball.
"Tirtouga, go!" said Shiloh as he throws Tirtouga's pokeball and releases him. "Tirtouga, Aqua Jet!" Tirtouga becomes surrounded by water and he flies at Dredd's Gumshoos, ramming it, and knocking it back.
"Gumshoos, use Bite!" said Dredd. Gumshoos pounces at Tirtouga and bites him, dealing damage to him, and causing him to flinch. "Just so you know, squirt, my Gumshoos has the Strong Jaw ability which powers up his fighting type moves; Gumshoos, use Leer!" Yungoos glares at Tirtouga and his eyes glowed red, weakening Tirtouga's defense.
"Tirtouga, Ancient Power!" said Shiloh. Tirtouga becomes surrounded by a silvery light and it forms into a ball; Tirtouga launches it at Gumshoos, hitting him, and dealing damage. Energy surges through Tirtouga and powers up all his stats.
"Gumshoos, Pursuit!" said Dredd; Gumshoos charges at Tirtouga.
"Tirtouga, use Protect!" said Shiloh. A green barrier forms around Tirtouga; Gumshoos rams into the barrier, protecting Tirtouga. "Now use Smack Down!" Tirtouga forms a ball of golden energy in front of his mouth and launches it at Gumshoos, hitting him, and dealing damage.
"Gumshoos, Mud-Slap!" said Dredd. Gumshoos sprays a stream of mud out of his mouth, and it hits Tirtouga, dealing super effective damage, and lowers his accuracy.
"Tirtouga, Water Gun!" said Shiloh. Tirtouga releases a stream of water from his mouth at Gumshoos, but misses due to his decreased accuracy.
"Gumshoos, Super Fang!" said Dredd. Gumshoos charges at Tirtouga while his fangs glowed gold and he bites Tirtouga, dealing damage to him.
"Tirtouga, use Brine!" said Shiloh. Tirtouga fires a stream of water out of his mouth and was able to hit Yungoos, knocking it out. "Yeah! Way to go, Tirtouga!"
"Oh man." said Dredd before returning Yungoos to its pokeball. "You got lucky, runt." Dredd gives Shiloh pokedollars before walking to his motorcycle.
"So, who will battle me?" asked Haze.
"I will." said Mallow.
"I am so going to enjoy crushing you." said Haze before she winks at Lincoln, making Mallow frown. Haze takes a pokeball off her waist and tosses it, releasing a Basculin.
"Steenee, let's go!" said Mallow, making her Steenee run over in front of her.
"Basculin, use Aqua Jet!" said Haze; her Basculin becomes covered in water before it rockets towards Steenee and slams into her, not doing much damage.
"Steenee, use Teeter Dance!" said Mallow. Her Steenee dances around the Basculin in a way that causes confusion to it.
"Basculin, use Crunch!" said Haze. Her Basuclin tries to move towards Steenee, but confusion causes it to crash into a tree, doing damage to itself.
"Steenee, use Magical Leaf!" said Mallow. Her Steenee releases a barrage of glowing green leaves at Basculin, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Basculin, use Double-Edge!" said Haze. Basculin snaps out of its confusion and charges, full force, at Steenee and rams into her, damaging her; Basculin cringes as it takes recoil damage from its attack.
"Steenee, use Double-Slap!" said Mallow. Her Steenee moves at Basculin and slaps it repeatedly, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"NOOO!" shouts Haze.
"We did it, Steenee!" said Mallow, making Steenee smile.
"I won't forget this!" said Haze as she tosses Mallow pokedollars and goes over to her motorcycle as Dredd was climbing onto his; she hops onto her motorcycle and the two start to ride off, but not before Haze moves right up to Lincoln and kisses him on the cheek, making Mallow growl.
"Let's hurry and get those berries!" said Lynn. The group goes into Aina's Kitchen and go to the pantry where Mallow shows them where the Grepa berries were. Lynn grabs the biggest crate, and the others carry smaller ones.
"That should be enough." said Mallow.
"Let's hurry!" said Lincoln before everyone exits the restaurant, with Mallow taking a few seconds to lock the door.
Twenty minutes later, at Aina's Kitchen's bread stand, Ulu was finishing baking his bread while Mallow glazed it with the jam that she made.
Throughout the rest of the day, everyone attending the festival was sampling the bread that Ulu and Mallow made and were so amazed by it that they kept buying some.
Soon, the judges have made their final decision and were going to decide the winner.
"We have made our decision." said one of the judges. "And the winner of this year's bread-making contest is Aina's Kitchen!"
"We won!" said Mallow as she hugged her brother.
"I knew we could do it!" said Ulu. The two siblings stand side-by-side together as the judges' hand Ulu the cruise ship ticket, and Mallow with a gold trophy that looked like a baguette.
Later, everyone was congratulating Ulu and Mallow on their contest win.
"I knew you two would win." said Lillie.
"We're so glad you did." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, everyone." said Mallow. Just then, Nina came walking over to them, alongside a man with light grayish-brown hair, wearing glasses, navy blue vest over a beige shirt, gray slacks, and black dress shoes.
"Alola, everyone." said Nina, making Ulu perk up as he gawks at her.
"What did you think of my bread, Nina?" asked Ulu.
"It was amazing." said Nina. "My fiance and I both really liked it."
"That's great, I..." Ulu starts to say before a look of shock appears on his face. "...Fiance?"
"Yes." said Nina. "This man is my fiance; we plan on getting married this month." Ulu suddenly sulks when he learned that Nina was already with someone.
Later, after everyone cheered Ulu up, they all went back to Aina's Kitchen to celebrate.
"What will you do now, Ulu?" Mallow asked her brother.
"I will continue on my journey and learn more recipes and cooking techniques." said Ulu. "I will use the cruise ship ticket I won to help me start travelling."
"That's good to hear." said Alola Lana. As Mallow looks over at Lincoln, she notices the folded-up paper that Haze put in his shirt pocket.
"What's that?" asked Mallow as she points at the paper in Lincoln's pocket.
"I saw Haze put that in there after she was done kissing his face a lot." said Shiloh with a grin. Lincoln pulls it out and unfolds it, blushing when he sees the paper had Haze's phone number, a kiss mark, and a message that said, 'Give me a call sometime, cutie.'.
"She gave me her phone number." said Lincoln. Mallow frowns before she grabs the paper and angrily rips it to shreds.
"You don't need that." said Mallow as she throws the pieces in the trash, making Lynn and the Loud cousins chuckle.
Meanwhile, with Dredd and Haze, they were both continuing to ride down the road on their motorcycles when the female Team Skull member growls suddenly, frightening the male member.
"What's with you?" Dredd asked her associate.
"I have a feeling that green-haired girl is getting between me and my cutie." said Haze before the two Team Skull members continued riding off.
Back at Aina's Kitchen, Lincoln and his family were exiting the restaurant with their Alola friends, except Mallow.
"I'll see you at school tomorrow." said Mallow as she waves to the rest of the group.
"Okay, Mallow." said Lincoln before the green-haired girl winks at him, making him blush. After the group was out of sight, Ulu smirks at his younger sister, which she notices.
"What?" Mallow asked.
"So, when's your and Lincoln's wedding gonna be?" asked Ulu, making Mallow's face turn red.
"ULU!" shouts Mallow.
Lincoln and his family have met Mallow's brother, and helped the two win the Alola Bread Festival's bread-making contest. What else will they do as their Alola adventures continue?
