Returning to Hammerlocke
At the Spikemuth Pokemon Center, Lincoln and the rest of the group were in the lounge waiting for Lincoln's Pokemon to be treated while they were looking at their badges.
"One more; just one more badge and we get to compete in the Rose Cup." said Lincoln.
"It's been quite the journey so far." said Clyde.
"What did you guys like about it so far?" asked Sam.
"All the cool Pokemon we've seen so far." said Lana.
"The people we met so far." said Luna.
"I'll bet Lincoln liked meeting Marnie." said Lucy with a grin.
"Probably as much as you liked meeting Allister." said Leni.
"I liked when I was chosen by Madam Opal to be the next Ballonlea Gym Leader." said Lola with pride.
"Wonder what else we'll experience before the Rose Cup?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"We'll have to wait and find out." said Lincoln.
"Where's the last gym at?" asked Clyde.
"It's in Hammerlocke." said Lincoln.
"After Lincoln gets his Pokemon back, we'll head over there." said Luna.
"We can challenge the gym there tomorrow." said Lincoln. "Our Pokemon have done enough for today."
"Totes." said Leni.
"So what should we do in the meantime?" asked Lucy.
"I want to get the Digging Duo to dig up more stuff and see what we get." said Lincoln.
"Good idea." said Ronnie Anne.
Ten minutes later, Lincoln gets his Pokemon back; they were about to exit the Pokemon Center when Marnie comes inside.
"Oh, hi Lincoln." said Marnie with a blush.
"H-Hey, Marnie." said Lincoln with a blush of his own, making his sisters squeal with delight while Ronnie Anne frowns.
"How'd you do in your gym battle?" asked Sam.
"See for yourself." said Marnie as she holds out a Dark Badge.
"Awesome!" said Lincoln.
"So what are you all up to now?" asked Marnie.
"We're gonna see two guys called the Digging Duo and have them dig stuff up for us." said Lana.
"When are you going to challenge the Hammerlocke gym?" asked Marnie.
"Tomorrow." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea." said Marnie.
"We gotta get going." said Clyde. The group starts heading for the Pokemon Center's doors; as Lincoln walks by Marnie, she grabs his arm, getting his attention.
"I hope you win at the Hammerlocke gym." said Marnie before she kisses Lincoln on the cheek, making him blush, his sisters giggle, and Ronnie Anne growl before she grabs Lincoln and pulls him along with the others right behind them. Marnie glares at Ronnie Anne who glares back at her.
As soon as the group exits the Pokemon Center, the entire city shakes violently.
"What's going on?!" asked Luna.
"An earthquake!" said Lana. A man suddenly runs over to them.
"Hey! There's some trouble over on Route 9!" said the man.
"What kind of trouble?" asked Sam.
"I don't know, but it's so bad that the Champion has come to sort things out!" said the man.
"Leon?!" Lincoln replied.
"Hey, aren't you the Loud Crowd that people are talking about?!" the man asked Lincoln's group.
"Loud Crowd?" Lana replied.
"Yeah, that's the name people have been calling you." said the man. "You're all a major topic among trainers and gym leaders."
"Wow, we're famous!" said Lola.
"But Ronnie Anne, Sam, and I aren't Louds." said Clyde.
"Then you're honorary ones." said Lola.
"Anyway, you should all go and help Leon with the problem." said the man.
"Let's go, then." said Lincoln.
"Loud Crowd away!" said Lana. "I kind of like that name."
The group exits Spikemuth gates where other people were rushing in; they look in front of them and immediately see Leon.
"Hey!" Lincoln calls out, making Leon look to see the group.
"Hello, everyone!" said Leon. "Thanks for coming, but I got a handle on this!"
"Are you sure?" asked Leni.
"Whatever's making that noise, I'll see to it!" said Leon. "Keep your eye on the goal; and for all of you, that's winning the Gym Challenge!"
"Well, if you say so." said Lincoln.
"We're challenging the last gym tomorrow." said Lana. "They worked hard today."
"A wise decision." said Leon. "The last Gym Leader, Raihan, is very strong, so you'll all need to be at full strength when you challenge him. He's the only trainer I consider a real rival! He's that good!"
"Wait until he tries to take us on!" said Lola.
"You got a strong spirit, young lady." said Leon.
"Yeah, and her bite is way worse than her bark." said Luna.
"But I have no time to talk when there's trouble around!" said Leon. "But don't worry, the unbeatable Champion is here to look after things and keep you all safe!" Another explosion rings out from nearby.
"What is that?!" asked Ronnie Anne.
"It sounds like it came from that tunnel!" said Leon as he looks towards a nearby tunnel. "Seems about I'm about to have a champion time!" He rushes into the tunnel entrance while everyone else watches.
"I think he can handle things." said Clyde.
"So we're off to the Digging Duo?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Yeah." said Lincoln. He uses his Rotom Phone to call for some Flying Taxis to take everyone to Bridge Field.
The group head over to the Digging Duo and give them watts; the pair start digging and find several objects for them.
"Hey, an Ice Stone!" said Lincoln. "I can use this to evolve my Alolan Sandslash!"
"Are you gonna do it?" asked Clyde.
"Well, I think Raihan uses dragon type Pokemon." said Lincoln. "Ice types have an advantage against them, so I'll need every advantage I can get." He takes out his Alolan Sandshrew's pokeball and tosses it, releasing him. He touches his Alolan Sandshrew with the Ice Stone and he begins to glow. Alolan Sandshrew begins to grow; when the glowing stopped, Alolan Sandshrew was bigger, light blue with a white underside, had two long claws on each of his hands and feet, and icicle-like quills sticking out of his back.
"So, what's your Alolan Sandshrew now, Lincoln?" asked Ronnie Anne. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the newly-evolved Alolan Sandshrew.
"Sandslash, the Mouse Pokemon and the evolved form of Sandshrew. Many people climb snowy mountains, hoping to see the icy spikes of these Pokémon glistening in the light of dawn." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"According to this, he learned Icicle Spear when he evolved." said Lincoln.
"You know, you guys; there some parts of the Wild Area we couldn't explore due to lakes." said Clyde.
"But with those new upgrades on our Rotom Bikes, we can explore parts of the Wild Area we couldn't get to before." said Ronnie Anne.
"Awesome idea." said Lincoln. Everyone splits up to explore the Wild Area.
At the Dusty Bowl, Ronnie Anne was riding on her Rotom Bike; she soon sees a pond with a small island with a tree on it. Ronnie Anne rides her bike across the pond and onto the island.
"I wonder what I could find here." said Ronnie Anne as she hops off her Rotom Bike. She walks around the small island, looking around when she felt herself step on something. She looks down while lifting up her foot to see what appeared to be a curved claw on the ground; she leans down and picks it up. "Hey, this is a Razor Claw; When I looked up Sneasel, I learned he needs to hold one while gaining experience at night so he'll evolve." She takes out her Sneasel's pokeball and tosses it, releasing him.
"Here you go, Sneasel." said Ronnie Anne, holding the Razor Claw to Sneasel, who takes it. Ronnie Anne returns Sneasel to his pokeball; she then climbs onto her Rotom Bike and rides off the island and out of the pond.
After a while, the group meets back up, and heads north until they reach the gate to Hammerlocke.
"Should we call it a day?" asked Lincoln.
"Sure; I need my beauty sleep." said Lola.
"Let's get some dinner." said Clyde.
"After that, I'm gonna wait until dark before heading back out here to train up my Sneasel so he can evolved." said Ronnie Anne.
"Okay." said Lincoln. The group head into Hammerlocke and go over to a restaurant for some dinner. As they enter the city, they see Leon, Sonia, and Hop standing near the entrance to the Hammerlocke Stadium; Hop waves when he notices the group.
"Over here!" shouts Hop.
"Hi, Hop!" said Lincoln as he and the rest of the group runs over to the three.
"Are you all ready for the Hammerlocke Gym?" asked Leon.
"You bet we are." replied Clyde.
"So, how did it go in Route 9?" Lincoln asked Leon.
"It's been taken care of." replied Leon.
"I'd expect nothing less from the Galar region champion." said Sonia.
"Yeah; he took that Dynamaxed Pokemon down, no problem." said Hop.
"What's a Dynamaxed Pokemon doing outside a den and stadium?" asked Sam.
"Not sure; an overflowing red light, Pokemon Dynamaxing without a Power Spot." said Sonia.
"Yeah, but why?" asked Hop.
"I'm not sure what's going on." said Sonia. "That red light could appear again at any time and we'd have no way of knowing."
"But being able to predict such things is part of a scientist's work." said Professor Magnolia, walking over to them.
"Gran?" said Sonia.
"What brings you here?" asked Lincoln.
"The chairman called for me." replied Professor Magnolia. "He wanted to know about the red light's relationship to the Dynamax phenomenon."
"Did the chairman know anything?" asked Leon.
"Nothing worth my time." said Professor Magnolia. "The chairman's all wrapped up in fretting over the future of our energy apparently. He's left everything to that executive lady. We just don't have enough data."
"What will you do, Gran?" Sonia asked.
"That's why I wanted to ask you to start looking into things, too, Sonia." said Professor Sonia. "You know more than anyone about the Darkest Day, after all."
"Are you saying that red light and the Darkest Day are connected?!" Sonia asked with shock.
"Lincoln; do you think we all can do anything to help out?" Hop asked Lincoln and the rest of his group.
"Not sure." said Lincoln. "I mean, we could try, but what can we do?"
"Thanks, I appreciate the thought." Leon says after overhearing the kids. "But all I could ever ask of you would be that you join me in the greatest final match ever. I'll do my part to make that happen by keeping everyone's future safe."
"I guess if you say so." said Lincoln.
"We'll give you a match no one will forget!" said Ronnie Anne.
"That's good to hear." said Leon. "You all just keep doing your part by winning your way through the Gym Challenge!"
"Right. Course! You're the unbeatable Champion, after all, eh?" said Hop.
"Not until one of us defeats him." said Clyde.
"I'll be the one to do that!" said Ronnie Anne.
"Only if you make it past me!" said Lana.
"I can feel the energy coming from all of you!" said Leon. "If the chairman can learn to harness that, then there'd be enough energy to last the Galar region forever."
"Gran?" Sonia says to Professor Magnolia. "There's something I want to look into. You'll help me, right?"
"Naturally." said Professor Magnolia. She and Sonia head off towards the Hammerlocke Vault.
"Looks like we all know what we need to do." said Leon. "You kids clear the Gym Challenge so we can meet again at the Champion Cup!" He then runs off somewhere, leaving Hop, and LIncoln's group to themselves.
"What now?" asked Lana.
"I know what I need to do!" said Hop. "Defeat that Piers once and for all!"
"I guess since Spikemuth is opened up now, you can get to him." said Clyde.
"We already beaten him." said Luna.
"Then I better hurry and get to Spikemuth so I can catch up with all of you!" said Hop before he runs off towards the east gate of Hammerlocke.
"What a child." a familiar voice calls out; everyone looks to see Bede walking over to them.
"Oh, it's you." said Lincoln.
"What are you doing here?" asked Lola.
"I was just talking with Chairman Rose about important matters that have nothing to do with any of you." said Bede.
"Whatever." said Ronnie Anne.
"Are you challenging Raihan soon?" asked Lincoln.
"Of course." said Bede. "But I still have to go to Spikemuth and get the badge there."
"Well, good luck with that." said Sam.
"Luck is for the weak and unskilled." said Bede before he walks off towards Spikemuth.
"Lynn would force-feed him his jacket if she heard that." said Lana.
"Speaking of feeding, let's just forget about Bede for now and get some dinner." said Luna.
"Totes." said Leni.
"If we wanna eat, thinking about Bede will make that hard to do." said Ronnie Anne.
"Yeah." said Lana.
The group finds a restaurant and have some dinner; after they finished eating, most of the group goes to a hotel while Ronnie Anne exits Hammerlocke to train up her Sneasel like she planned.
"Hey; aren't you part of the Loud Crowd?" Ronnie Anne hears someone call out to her. She looks to see a boy walking over to her.
"Yeah." replied Ronnie Anne.
"Want to have a Pokemon Battle with me?" asked the boy. "I might gain some popularity if I beat a member of the Loud Crowd."
"Sure, I'll battle you." said Ronnie Anne. "How many Pokemon do you want to use?"
"How about just one?" asked the boy.
"Sounds good to me." replied Ronnie Anne. Seconds later, Ronnie Anne and the boy were standing several yards from each other, holding a pokeball.
"Qwilfish, come out!" said the boy, throwing a pokeball and releasing a round Pokemon that's dark teal on the upper half of its body, light greenish-yellow on the lower half, spikes coming out of its body, and a thin tail. Ronnie Anne points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Qwilfish, the Balloon Pokemon. The small spikes covering its body developed from scales. They inject a toxin that causes fainting." said Ronnie Anne's Rotom Phone.
"Sneasel, go!" said Ronnie Anne, throwing Sneasel's pokeball and releasing him. "Sneasel, use Leer!" Sneasel glares at Qwilfish while his eyes glowed red, weakening its defense.
"Qwilfish, Poison Jab!" said the boy. Qwilfish leaps at Sneasel while the spikes on its body glowed purple and rams him, knocking him back; it turned purple under Sneasel's eyes. "Looks like your Sneasel's poisoned."
"Don't let poison stop you, Sneasel!" said Ronnie Anne. Sneasel lets out a yell and the poison is expelled from his body.
"No way!" said the boy.
"Yes, way; okay, Sneasel, use Metal Claw!" said Ronnie Anne. Sneasel charges at Qwilfish while his claws turned into metal and he slashes Qwilfish with them, dealing moderate damage due to Qwilfish's defense being weakened. Sneasel begins surging with energy and his attack strength increases.
"Qwilfish, Pin Missile!" said the boy. Qwilfish fires glowing white needles from its body and they hit Sneasel, dealing super effective damage.
"Sneasel, use Fury Swipes!" said Ronnie Anne. Sneasel leaps at Qwilfish and repeatedly scratches it, dealing damage to it.
"Qwilfish, use Revenge!" said the boy. Qwilfish becomes surrounded by an orange aura and leaps at Sneasel.
"Use Agility and dodge it!" said Ronnie Anne. Sneasel disappars, causing Qwilfish to miss; Sneasel reappears near Qwilfish. "Now use Scratch!" Sneasel scratches Qwilfish with his claws, knocking it out.
"Oh, man!" said the boy.
"Great job, Sneasel." said Ronnie Anne. Sneasel nods and begins to glow. "Whoa; Sneasel's evolving." Ronnie Anne looked as Sneasel began to change; when Sneasel stopped glowing, he now had a pale gray body, had a red crown and collar made of wide feathers, a thinner feather on each of his ears, three claws on the end of each of his arms, and a yellow gem on his forehead. Ronnie Anne points her Rotom Phone at her newly evolved Sneasel.
"Weavile, the Sharp Claw Pokemon, and the evolved form of Sneasel. With its claws, it leaves behind signs for its friends to find. The number of distinct signs is said to be over 500." said Ronnie Anne's Rotom Phone.
"Congratulations, Weavile." said Ronnie Anne. "And according to this, you learned Revenge, Assurance, Slash, and Ice Shard; cool!" The boy returns his Qwilfish to its pokeball.
"We'll have to train some more, Qwilfish." said the boy. He puts Qwilfish's pokeball away and walks to Ronnie Anne. "Thanks for the battle."
"Thank you for helping Sneasel evolve." replied Ronnie Anne. The boy then gives Ronnie Anne pokedollars and walks to Hammerlocke.
Deciding to call it a night, Ronnie Anne heads back to Hammerlocke, goes to the hotel just as she sees Lucy sneaking out of her room that the rest of the group were spending the night in, most likely to visit Allister, and goes to bed.
Lincoln's group has just one more badge to earn before they can compete in the Champion Cup. Will they succeed? Wait and find out.
