Angel: I will mention that there's a special before season 2, but it just recaps all of season one, so I didn't think it was necessary to write, therefore I skipped over it. Any of the recap specials in general I'm not writing because it would just be recounting seasons when plenty of episodes already do that on a smaller scale.
Edit: Btw, when I uploaded earlier, I uh… had not seen the new episode but I just finished watching it. I am crying and screaming in my head, I was not ready for that moment and I'm not okay, I'm just not. That final shot before the ending song killed me. To those who aren't watching the anime, let's just say that it's a huge thing in the series.
A light shined from a hospital.
The first incident was in Qingqing City. An extraordinary child was born who radiated light.
It was something no one could comprehend.
After that, reports of people with superpowers popped up across the globe. No one knew what was causing these Quirks.
Left and right, it was becoming second nature in the world. And yet there still wasn't any real explanation.
The world became a superhuman society, with about 80 percent of the population possessing some uncanny ability. Death Arms stopped part of a structure from falling thanks to a villain who was causing havoc. Then Backdraft protected the crowd.
You name it, telepathy, super speed, super strength. Even some of the most unique ones were seen as a Quirk in some way.
Our streets looked like scenes from comic books. Kamui Woods jumped up, running up the arm of the villain.
As cities swirled with chaos and confusion, a new profession dominated our collective consciousness. Kamui Woods captured the wrist of the villain before using his Lacquered Chain Prison.
And pretty soon, with these Quirks, there was suddenly a way to combat all of the chaos thanks to this new profession. Nothing would ever be the same again.
Before he could though, Mt. Lady came in and kicked the villain, stealing the hero's thunder. It was an age of heroes.
That's right, superheroes, things that weren't thought to be reality until now.
All Might then stood proudly with a laugh, hands on his hips. "Fear not, citizens! Hope has arrived," He then glanced back with a big smile on his face. "Because I am here!"
Izuku let out an excited yell, his hair flying around. Izuka giggled at him, clapping a little. He then smiled, holding up his action figure above their heads. "He's the coolest in the universe! And once we get our Quirks...we're gonna be heroes, just like him!"
Izuka gave a beaming smile while waving her hands above her head. He then laughed as he chased Izuka around and she laughed too.
However...the doctor would inform them later on that Izuku would never get a Quirk. And after hearing this, Izuka had refused to let herself get checked...because at that point, she had already gotten her Quirk.
Inko slowly stepped over to Izuku, bending down and hugging her child. "I'm sorry, Izuku, to you and your sister. I wish things were different," She whimpered as the boy finally started shedding tears. Izuka herself was watching from the doorway, frowning sadly as her eyes looked tired. She then tensed up, gritting her teeth sadly. It wasn't fair to her at all that...he couldn't get a Quirk.
A few days later, the little girl sat down on her bed, shadow over her eyes as she clutched her dress. She looked up with tears in her eyes as her family opened their eyes in shock...to see her hands sparking with white-yellowish glitter. She hadn't wanted to face the truth...but it was the only explanation she had for how she had been acting lately...the two stood there in silence for a few seconds before hugging her tightly. Izuku was shaking the entire time. Izuka continued to cry, her hands in front of her face.
"I'm so sorry, little brother...I wish you could take my place..." She sobbed and Izuku frowned at her.
"Izuka..." He placed his hands on top of hers. "No matter what...you'll always be my big sister. So don't cry..."
I was born without superpowers.
I unfortunately wasn't...
Quirkless.
Having to accept the fact that I had something that would've helped my brother achieve his dream...when he could've never been able to have it.
Just an ordinary kid with a sister that had powers.
A girl who felt the need to hide it from the world just to spare her brother's feelings.
We wanted to be like him so badly...but I wasn't.
And so...after the truth was revealed, I...stopped wanting to be like All Might, or a hero in general.
And I started to give up on my dream. Izuku could see himself against a bunch of villains...to protect the world. Even if back then, it would never be a reality.
I swore to never let anyone see my power so that...so that my brother wouldn't need to watch me become a hero without him.
Still—even though my brain told me I could never be a pro, in my heart I knew all I wanted was to be a hero. And thanks to the people who guided us and supported us...
As One for All surged, Izuku took it into his hands. We are here now. On our way.
Even though I told myself that he'd hate me, that he'd resent me...eventually I took on a bit more bravery and started to use my Quirk. Even if it's sometimes untapped power, I'm still on the path to become a hero.
Izuka landed next to her brother, pointing her bow up ahead with a confident smile. Red veins came from Izuku's body. Our dreams are becoming a reality. He then set his feet apart, Izuka's hair flying as she pulled back the string from her bow. And though we've had setbacks...we keep pushing forward. The two then stood together, preparing themselves for what was to come. Our journey is just beginning. You see, this is the story...
Izuku recoiled his fist back while Izuka fired off the shooting star. Of how we become the world's greatest heroes.
And how we'd deal with the changing world around us...
"Up next, an update on the incident at the UA rescue training center where hero course students were attacked by a gang of villains," A reporter was speaking from a television screen regarding the attack. "According to new police officials, the criminal forces called themselves The League of Villains. Investigators have reportedly uncovered that this group has been plotting to kill UA teacher and popular hero All Might since the spring of this year."
A few curious citizens gathered around to listen in. "Police arrested 72 villains at the scene, but the League's leader escaped. His whereabouts are unknown."
Greetings, All Might had addressed in a letter to someone. The air is warm here. It feels like summer is just around the corner. I hope this letter finds you well, sir. In good health and even better spirits. This semester, I took a position as a teacher at UA High School. Heh, that's right. A TV was still broadcasting about the USJ incident. I'm now guiding the next generation of heroes. I was hoping to find someone worthy of inheriting my power among the elite students at the school. A hero-in-training with outstanding test scores and a powerful Quirk. However...before I ever began my tenure at UA, I met a young man and his sister. He was referring to the Midoriya Twins, and how they first met him. Even though they were both weak, the boy even having no Quirk of his own...they showed incredible bravery. The girl herself had refused to use her Quirk...when she learned that her brother wouldn't earn one. They both rushed into a dangerous situation that caused pro heroes, including myself, to hesitate, and both managed to save the life of a classmate.
Of course, he meant the time that the twins had rushed in to save Katsuki from the sludge villain. The girl showed incredible power and instinct to do all she could for someone she didn't even like. Her brother may not have had a plan when he acted, and her using her Quirk for the first time then was indeed a risk. But they knew they had to do something. I feel like watching these two young children spring into action taught me something that day. And it reminded me of the virtues I must embody in order to call myself a pro. A hero. That's why...I meant it when I said to them...
"Young man, young lady, you too can become heroes."
He could still remember Izuku crying over the words he never heard until then. And Izuka comforting him, since...not even their own mother had said such a thing to them. All they had earned was scorn and ridicule.
Soon after that, I told this pupil and his sister the secret of my Quirk, and proposed that I transfer it to him. This ability I have, that has been passed on from person to person, cultivated, and made stronger. The crystallization of power that binds itself to a courageous heart for the good of those in need. One for All. He accepted without hesitation, on the condition that his sister show everyone her Quirk as well to achieve their shared dream. A dream that had almost escaped this young woman thanks to being a good sister to him...even if the cost was her own happiness and drive. I began training them both for the trials they'd need to overcome in order to be accepted into the hero course at UA High School. Even though both of them sometimes struggled with their newfound slash unexplored abilities, they never stopped fighting. And gave 100 percent as he tried to harness One for All, and she tried to understand her Quirk more. I don't like to toot my own horn, but...I believe I found the perfect person to pass my Quirk on to. And the perfect person to become a new Symbol for when my time has passed. They have shown me time and again that they have what it takes to be real heroes. I'm still quite new to the role of instructor. The day may come when I must trouble you, my old teacher, for advice.
All Might's teacher, the recipient of the letter, took some fish cakes off the table. I'll be counting on your wisdom and patience when that time comes. Until then, please take care of yourself as the seasons begin to change. I'll continue to keep you updated about what's happening. Sincerely yours. It was signed with All Might's real name, Toshinori Yagi. His teacher finished his bite of his fish cake, scratching his side.
"So, Toshinori has found a worthy successor. And a new person to become her own symbol, huh?" He murmured to himself.
"Our investigators are trying to learn everything they can about this so-called League of Villains," Naomasa informed the UA staff as they were having a meeting about who the students faced against. Well, about half of the staff. Mr. Aizawa still had to recover from his injuries. "We've made some progress...but we can't find anything on this Shigaraki so far. We've searched our records for men in their 20s or 30s who are registered as having some sort of disintegration Quirk. But so far, we've come up empty. Same for the Warp Gate villain, Kurogiri. So they're not citizens or they're using aliases. Hard to find either way."
Vlad King gave a small frown. "So what you're really saying is we don't know anything."
"We've gotta track 'em down," Snipe spoke up from his seat. "I shot their ringleader, but once he heals up, he'll probably try pullin' something like this again. What a pain."
Toshinori looked at the table, a small frown on his face. "He did seem like the type..."
"Is something on your mind, All Might?" Principal Nezu guessed correctly.
"The attack on the USJ was...too bold. No sane adult would ever attempt it," He explained as everyone knew that UA was heavily secured. So trying to attack it would be a foolish move, especially when its staff was full of pro heroes. "The ringleader kept monologuing about the reasons he was there. And he bragged about Nomu's many Quirks, but he never said a word about his own powers. What's worse, he might be targeting a student, Izuka Midoriya. Thanks to her showing her Quirk and it being all over the news, they already knew about her abilities and how to counteract them. When things didn't go his way, he was visibly upset. Like he was gonna throw a tantrum. Ahh," He leaned his head back while rubbing his chin. "I guess bragging about Nomu's Quirks was a quick way to draw me into a fight."
"That might be true, yes, but strategically, it was foolish to reveal his Quirks up front and the fact he knew about a student's beforehand instead of keeping them a secret," Principal Nezu pointed out, earning a hum of agreement from Naomasa.
"Shigaraki made wild, immature claims, but did so with a completely straight face. And he talked about Nomu like he was some kind of a pet. It seemed like he'd never been told no before—like he thought things would go his way no matter what. He has the personality of a spoiled little brat. A man-child. That being said...I don't think he'll go out of his way to attack Izuka unguarded. For one, he did speak about her brother as well, but doesn't know of his Quirk. And two, his behavior doesn't support that he'd order out a hit on her or anything like that," Toshinori told the staff. "So I don't think any of us need to worry about that."
Though he knew that wouldn't stop Izuku from being concerned a little bit.
"Shigaraki's a child with incredible power, though," Vlad brought up with a small frown. "So wouldn't that mean he would order an attack on a student?"
"It's possible he never got the Quirk counseling students receive in elementary school," A female teacher spoke up. "As for the girl, we can't start treating her like a toddler just because of concern. She's still a UA student, after all. And we've already taken security measures."
"Maybe so, but it doesn't really matter now," Snipe stated regarding the whole thing. Toshinori sighed in relief that they were dropping the issue. To him, Izuka didn't really seem like the type to go along needing a bodyguard. After all, she had started to show a bit more assertiveness with some people and had shown more trust in him after he got her brother practically killed in combat class...he didn't wanna break it by allowing someone to follow her for protection. And her abilities had grown by this point, so it wasn't like anyone saw her as defenseless outside of maybe Katsuki.
"There were 72 villains arrested in the aftermath of the USJ attack," Naomasa reported to the five. "They were all small-time thugs who usually lurked around back alleys. What worries me is that this 'man-child' got them all to follow his crazy plan. They viewed him as a real leader. Criminals are starting to feel more pressure now that the world is brimming with heroes. That could be why they were so quick to back such simple-minded villainy."
"Guess that makes sense," Vlad narrowed his eyes a bit.
"There are plenty a' people out there looking for a cause to get behind," Snipe leaned back in his chair.
"So what can we do to stop them?" The female teacher looked up ahead in thought, a small frown on her face.
"Well," Naomasa looked at his papers. "It is thanks to you heroes that we have the time to devote ourselves to this case. We'll expand our investigation and continue searching for the perpetrators who planned this attack."
"...A man-child, huh?" Principal Nezu gave an amused smile. "In some ways he shares common ground with our students. They both have so much potential." Toshinori turned to him attentively. "And like our students, I suppose it's possible...someone is guiding him, trying to nurture his malice and villainy."
Toshinori sighed while looking away. He really didn't wanna think about someone even more malicious than Shigaraki teaching him...if that was true, then this attack was the least of their worries right about now.
"I don't wanna think about what that could mean," He murmured to himself.
Soon, it was dark out, and the twins were at home. School was closed the day the League of Villains attacked the USJ.
It wasn't really hard to see why.
Inko was currently cooking in the kitchen. I think they wanted us to have a little break...but it was pretty tough to relax. She glanced back at the closed door behind her that led to the hallway, thinking about her children.
Especially since people were injured, just to protect us students, and...well, the villains already knew about me.
"Who is he?" Izuku was once again viewing the debut video of All Might. "The guy's already saved 100 people at least, and it hasn't even been ten minutes! This is...this is crazy! I can't believe it!" Izuku held his knees while sitting in his chair, All Might laughing like it was nothing.
"Look, he's got more!"
All Might then stepped onto the bus with a big smile on his face. "Fear not, citizens! Hope has arrived! Because I am here!"
Izuka was sitting on his bed, hugging her legs while listening to the video. 'The both of us are still so far away from becoming real heroes.' The villain then spread out his body towards them before anyone could do anything. 'During the USJ attack, all our classmates and I did was slow Mr. Aizawa and Thirteen down.' Thirteen was unable to use her Quirk...because half of her body suit was ripped in half. 'If it weren't for All Might and our teachers...we never would have stood a chance against those villains.'
Izuku picked up a barbell, using it while thinking of All Might's fight with Nomu. In order to truly oppose evil, I have to make All Might's power my own. I have to embody One for All and master every aspect of it, until it's second nature for me. He then reminded himself of Toshinori's injuries he showed the twins once. Because...there isn't much time left. And because I'm the one he chose...I'll make him proud! And I'll make sure my sister never swears to not use her Quirk again.
He then remembered something...about why Izuka never used it around him. He never had the chance to actually talk to her about it, because they had combat class and the USJ incident to worry about. The boy put down the barbell, sitting in silence for a few seconds. "...Hey sis."
"Mm?" She looked up, having been lost in thought just like him.
"...You know...it could've been easy for me...to just say that you're better than me because you were born with a Quirk," He started off and she looked away, biting her lip. "Because...it's not something you needed to hide all those years from everyone else."
"I was only four years old," She sighed, closing her eyes. "I never meant to use it ever since then. Not even when Bakugo-San started to become more of a jerk towards the both of us. I-I just...I didn't want you to look at me...and have your feelings be crushed if I got to live out your dream."
"I appreciate it, but I could never hate you like you were expecting me to." She gasped while looking up at him. "You've always been there for me, so...if we never met All Might, and you did embrace your Quirk...I would've been happy just knowing you were becoming someone I could look up to just as much as All Might. Even if that meant giving up on my dream."
She teared up a bit, a small smile on her face. He then turned to her in determination. "I won't ever feel anything that negative towards you or your Quirk. So please...keep using your amazing power for everyone to see. Because I'll always be your biggest fan."
"And I'll be yours," She sniffed with a happy smile and he returned it.
She's already changing so much it's hard to keep up. Thank you for taking her in too, All Might.
A knock then came from the door. "Izuku, Izuka," Their mom called out from outside.
"Yeah?" He turned to the door and she opened it.
"Lunch time. Your food's getting cold," Inko informed the two of them.
"We'll be right there. Thanks, Mom," He gave her a small smile.
"Yeah, I'm starving," Izuka smiled as well, the woman returning it.
"Eat up!" She announced as everything was laid out in front of them. "Those new muscles need lots of fuel! And Izuka's body needs to keep growing, you never know if you have any secret admirers."
"Mooom," Izuka whined at this, Izuku chuckling at his sister. "I do not..." Though for some reason Katsuki came to mind, and that thought baffled her. Ever since the USJ incident, she had started to feel...weird around him. It didn't help that she had been in close contact with him a lot lately, even if by accident...hopefully when she was back at school, that would go away.
The next day, Class 1-A was already back in their seats. "You guys!" Toru exclaimed from her spot. "Did you watch the news last night?"
"Yeah," Mashirao nodded at her.
"It was so cool that we got a few seconds of screen time! Though I bet nobody noticed me hanging out in the background..." She placed an invisible hand on her chest, lamenting at the fact she wasn't noticed.
"Probably not," Mezo commented from her right.
Mashirao then flinched as he realized what his classmate meant. "It is difficult to stand out when you're just gloves."
Thankfully I'm small enough to hide behind Ashido-Chan... Izuka had a tear of relief going down her face. Obviously she didn't want to be televised, so she had hidden behind Tsuyu and Mina when the cameras were on them.
"We're totally big deals," Denki bragged with a small smile, hands behind his back. Kyoka played with her ear. "Those news channels love us—we're basically celebrities."
"Yeah, it's kinda crazy, right?" Eijiro wondered from behind.
"Get over yourselves," Kyoka waved it off. "The hero course that pumps out heroes was attacked, and that's what they care about."
Hanta placed his chin on his arms over his desk. "Who knows what woulda happened to us if the teachers hadn't shown up?"
Minoru popped up with a fearful look on his face, tears in his eyes. "Why'd you say that? I'm gonna pee myself just thinking about it!" He flailed around in fear.
"Oh, shut up!" Katsuki shouted from his seat, scaring both Minoru and Izuku. "Grow a pair, loser!"
Izuka rubbed a temple as the shouting was losing her concentration on her sketching. Once again, Bakugo-San has to be irritating... She shook her head slowly and went back to her drawing. Katsuki glanced at her briefly and then scoffed to himself.
"Did you guys see All Might fighting the bird guy?" Rikido smiled towards Fumikage. "That dude was super strong, and he still destroyed him!" He punched the air a few times.
"Yes," Fumikage agreed, closing his eyes. "His strength is truly a thing of wonder."
It was almost 8:25 am, meaning that class was about to start. Tenya then came running in. "Attention! Homeroom class is about to begin! Everyone stop talking and take your seats!" He announced as he faced everyone, but...everyone was already seated at this point.
"Uh, we're all sitting," Eijiro pointed this out to him.
"Yeah, you're the only one standing," Hanta called out and Tenya sat down in embarrassment. He gritted his teeth while shaking.
"Dang it...!" The boy muttered at his failure of being a good class rep this morning.
"Don't sweat it," Ochaco offered encouragingly with a small smile. Izuka glanced at him and giggled to herself.
He's really embraced the role of class rep by now. I'm starting to see why Uraraka-Chan finds it hilarious with how serious he takes almost everything.
Mina then glanced over her shoulder to look at Tsuyu. "Hey Tsu. So...who do you think's gonna teach class today?" She leaned so far back in her chair that Tsuyu had to hold up a hand to keep the girl in place.
"No idea," She tapped her chin in thought. "Mr. Aizawa's still in the hospital recovering from his injuries."
The door then slid open, and they all turned to see Mr. Aizawa himself. "Morning, class," He muffled out, as his whole face was covered in bandages.
"Mr. Aizawa, what are you doing here?!" Most of the students yelped in surprise.
"Whoa, what a pro," Denki recoiled back in alarm that the teacher still showed up to class despite the injuries.
"Mr. Aizawa," Tenya raised his hand. "I'm glad you're okay."
"You call that okay?" Ochaco wondered in a bit of worry as the teacher had to drag himself over to the front.
"My well-being is irrelevant," He started off as he stood at the podium. "What's more important is that your fight isn't over yet. "
"Our fight?" Katsuki asked him attentively.
"Don't tell me..." Izuku started off slowly.
"Not more bad guys!" Minoru held his head, freaking out even more as his eyes were shaking.
"What does he mean by that...?" Izuka tilted her head curiously.
Mr. Aizawa's expression changed as they could barely see his eyes past the bandages. "The UA Sports Festival is about to start."
"Yes!" Eijiro exclaimed quietly in excitement.
"Ugh! Why would you scare us like that?!" The students replied in unison; given the Quirk apprehension test, they were expecting something that was just as terrifying as that. Or that he was gonna test them once again since they just survived a villain attack...
"The Sports Festival!" Most of the students exclaimed in unison.
"Let's go kick some ass!" Eijiro stood up with a wide grin. Denki then placed a hand on his cheek, pushing him away.
"Wait a second!"
"Is it really such a good idea to hold the Sports Festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?" Kyoka asked what Denki was trying to address. She'd think that the school would at least get some criticism for this, especially in what kind of light this painted the school in.
"They could attack once we're all in the same place," Mashirao spoke up from in front.
Ojiro-San has a point Izuka gave a small frown to herself. Their leader and the League already know about my Quirk, and they could use that against me at any time. But that just means I have to get stronger before they can.
"Apparently, the administration thinks this is a good way to show that the threat has been handled and our school is safer than ever. Plus, they're beefing up security compared to past years," Mr. Aizawa then looked up ahead towards his class. "This event is a huge opportunity for all students at UA. It's not something we can cancel because of a few villains."
"Uh, I'm sorry," Minoru spoke up anxiously. "But why not? It's just a Sports Festival!"
"Huh? Mineta," Izuku turned around to him in confusion. "Don't you know how important this competition is?"
"Of course I do!" The smaller boy retorted back. "I just don't wanna get murdered."
"Our Sports Festival is one of the most watched events in the entire world," Mr. Aizawa continued and Izuka flinched in fear, her eyes shaking. "In the past, everyone obsessed over the Olympic games. But then Quirks started appearing. Now the Olympics have been drastically reduced in terms of scale and viewership. For anyone who cares about competition, there's only one tournament that matters. The UA Sports Festival."
"That's right," Momo stated from the back. "And top heroes everywhere will be watching," She then clenched a fist. "This is where you get scouted."
"Sure, unless you're dead," Minoru stated while sweat-dropping.
"She's right," Denki held up a finger while grinning. "After graduating, a lot of people join pro agencies as a sidekick."
"Yeah, but that's as far as some people go," Kyoka commented while looking up ahead. "They miss their chance to go indie and stay eternal sidekicks. Actually, that's probably where you're headed. You're kinda dumb."
His eye twitched from the insult, grunting a little in embarrassment.
"It's true that joining a famous hero agency can garner you greater experience and popularity," Mr. Aizawa continued speaking, thinking of some of the top ten. "That's why the festival matters. If you wanna go pro one day, then this event could open the path for you. One chance a year. Three chances in a lifetime. No aspiring hero can afford to miss this festival. That means you better not slack off on your training."
"Yes, sir!" Most of the class said in unison. Meanwhile, Izuka placed her head into her desk with a small quiet groan.
"Class is dismissed," Mr. Aizawa informed and if he was bothered by Izuka's reaction, he didn't show it. He did briefly glance at her though, and sighed a bit, closing his eyes. He'd give the girl a break right now since he heard that she had gotten too close for comfort by overusing her Quirk. Plus he knew that she'd suck it up and get past the crowds in order to compete. It wasn't like she could get out of it either...
Izuku then gave a look of thought and then glanced towards his sister, giving an awkward smile. Oh yeah...Izuka hates crowds, and the Sports Festival has one of the biggest audiences she'll ever face. She'll probably find a way to hide and excel or find a way to get past it. She wouldn't try to skip it since she knows how important it is to be noticed during the festival...
Izuka continued to hide her face in lament over this. She had quite honestly almost forgot about the Sports Festival when she had changed her mind to enroll in UA... Crap, what am I gonna do...? She held her head in disbelief. Lunch time she was getting used to little by little, and she didn't hide as much in class anymore. But now it was gonna be a televised event, in front of a bunch of people, and they would be looking at her should she get far...
The bell rang for lunch and Cementoss left Class 1-A. "That villain stuff sucked, sure," Eijiro spoke up before having a wide smile on his face. "But I'm pumped for these games!"
"We put on a good show, and we're basically on the road to bein' pros!" Hanta walked over with a smile.
"Yeah, this is why I'm even here in the first place," Rikido admitted while punching his first into his hand.
"We get so few chances," Fumikage acknowledged, closing his eyes. "We have to make the most of this."
"Oh man, Ojiro," Toru stated in excitement. "I'm getting kind of nervous about the festival! I have to come up with a way to get noticed!"
"Uh, sure," He replied a bit awkwardly since...it was hard to do so when a student was completely invisible aside from the clothes.
"Maybe with a cheer!"
"Maybe you should be looking at a shinier costume or something?" He suggested as she bounced around. "Otherwise, you're gonna have to try really hard. If there's anyone who you might not wanna ask for help, it's Mido though..." He glanced back at the girl hesitantly, and she was sketching to take her mind off of it. She had a hand over her head as she let out a small whine.
"I-I'd rather not...talk about it right now..." She mumbled while looking towards her desk.
"My, what's a boy to do?" Yuga struck a pose, sparkles around him. "I stand out even when I'm standing still. That means the scouts won't be able to take their eyes off me!" Koji gave a nervous look as he wasn't sure Yuga would be the center of attention like he wanted. "Don't you agree?" Koji nodded rapidly at him so he didn't hurt the boy's feelings.
"Better you than me..." Izuka muttered while looking away.
"I'm sure you'll find a way to forget about the crowd during the Sports Festival," Izuku smiled encouragingly at her.
Denki let out a sigh. "You're so lucky, Shoji. People are bound to notice your unique Quirk."
"Sure, but what matters is that I show them how useful I can be," He clenched a fist in determination.
"No doubt you'll make a scene too," Kyoka had an amused smile on her face while thinking about Denki's when he reached his limit. Denki let out an annoyed growl.
"This is gonna be nuts!" Izuku exclaimed at the excited class as he had went over to Tenya. "Everyone's so excited."
"Well yeah, of course we are!" Tenya retorted back and stood up. "We enrolled at this school with the sole aim to become heroes. So naturally, we're all getting fired up. Well, most of us," He tilted his glasses towards Izuka before shimmying around.
"Whoa, Ida," Tsuyu glanced back at him. "Those are some interesting moves. Ribbit."
"You have to be exited too, right Midoriya?" Tenya pointed at the green-haired boy.
"Well yeah, of course I am! And also nervous," He looked up at the ceiling. He then glanced towards Izuka as Momo was peeking over her shoulder curiously. Izuku watched his sister glance up towards the girl and flinch, hugging her sketchbook. Momo just gave an encouraging smile and Izuka moved it away to show her.
"Deku! Ida!" They turned around to Ochaco, who was giving a rather...intense look. "Let's do our best in the sports festival."
"Uraraka, what happened to your face?" Izuku asked her hesitantly; neither of them had seen her like this before. They stared at her in shock, Izuka walking over while sweating nervously. It was like Ochaco was a completely different person.
"Seriously, what's up?" Mina popped up to stare at her. "You're normally, like, the most laid back girl ever."
Minoru then blushed towards her. "PMS?" Tsuyu used her tongue to smack him against the cheek and his head shook. The brunette shuffled her feet, holding up a fist while still looking very intense.
"Everyone! I'm gonna do my best!" She exclaimed, Izuku and Tenya holding up their own fists.
"Yeah!" Everyone except Tsuyu and Izuka cheered.
"Uraraka-Chan must be...really fired up. M-More than anyone," She recoiled back a bit in alarm.
Ochaco then turned to Fumikage, Eijiro, Hanta, and Rikido. "I said, I'm gonna do my best!"
"Got it..." Eijiro held up a hesitant fist, along with the other three. "You okay? You kinda look like you're losing it..."
Now that I think about it...there's something I've been meaning to ask her. Izuku thought while staring at the energetic girl.
"Hey, Uraraka?" Izuku wondered as they were heading to lunch.
"What's up?" She replied back casually.
"Why did you decide to come to UA? What made you wanna be a pro hero?"
She gasped from the question. "Oh...well...because," She gave a nervous chuckle for some reason.
"Uh! For the money?" Izuku replied; he definitely wasn't expecting that to be her answer. "You wanna be a hero so you can get rich?"
"Uhh..." Izuka's eye twitched a bit in alarm. It didn't seem like Ochaco to give that as her answer if she had to be honest. She hadn't known the girl for too long, but she felt like it would've been something more...noble, at least.
"If we're cutting to the chase, then yeah," Ochaco rubbed her neck constantly and then waved a rapid hand. "I'm sorry if it sounds greedy. You three have such admirable motivations. I hope you don't think less of me now."
"Not at all!" Tenya shrugged a little. "Your goal is to support your wellbeing, which is a perfectly admirable ambition to have."
"W-Well...you're actually...the first real friend I made in school, Uraraka-Chan," Izuka confessed, Ochaco turning to her in surprise. "So...I-I won't judge you for that reason alone," She scratched her cheek, looking away. "Just as a small thank you for...well, being so patient with someone like me..."
Ochaco smiled brightly at her and Izuku nodded in agreement. "Mmhm. It's just kinda surprising."
The brunette let out a small sigh. "Well, you see...my family owns a construction company, but we haven't gotten any work lately, so we're flat broke," She moved her hands around nervously into her hair. "Anyway, this isn't really something I usually tell other people, but..."
"Construction, eh?" Tenya wondered as he and Izuku rubbed their chins. Izuka glanced up in thought before her brother gasped.
"If she got licensed, I bet she could use her Quirk to bring costs down a lot."
"And they could sell their heavy-lifting equipment," Tenya held up a finger. "She could float everything!"
"A-And it would shorten the amount of work time..." Izuka blinked in amazement.
"I know, right?!" Ochaco pointed to all three of them. "I've been telling Dad that since I was a kid!" She then looked away with a small frown. "But..."
The younger Ochaco stood up pleadingly in front of her parents, having told them what she wanted to do growing up. "You want to work for us?" Her father asked curiously and she nodded sharply.
"When I grow up all big and strong, I'll help you and Mommy out any way that I can," She ran up with tears in her eyes. He gave an amused chuckle and bent down to her. The man placed a hand on top of his daughter's hair.
"I really appreciate the thought, Ochaco. But as your dad, I'd be even happier if you achieved your own dream." His wife stood by with a smile on her face. "That's the way to make us happy. And if you do make money, you can take us to Hawaii or something!"
Her eyes shook with tears as she clutched her sweater. "Daddy...!"
She clutched her skirt the same way she did as a child. "I'm gonna become a pro. I'll sign with a good agency and make plenty of money. Then I'll be able to let my parents have an easy life!"
The three all gasped before Izuka gave a small smile. She could relate to Ochaco's situation; she didn't think she would let Izuku have an easy life if she had used her Quirk. Plus, she valued family as much as Ochaco did with her own parents.
Tenya then raised his hands to clap. "That's beautiful!" He exclaimed, alarming the three of them. "So noble! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!"
Ochaco gave a blush of embarrassment, giggling a little. She's not here because of some hero fantasy. Izuku blinked at her in surprise. She's more grounded than any of us.
"I-I agree with Ida-San," Izuka smiled, her hands in front of her skirt. "You really are a good person...Uraraka-Chan."
"Aw, thanks, Mido!" Ochaco gave her a light hug, Izuka blinking at her. She then let out a small giggle, the two having beaming smiles on their faces. Izuku gave a proud grin towards his sister, as despite the whole Sports Festival dilemma for her...she was still making progress on herself during class.
All Might then laughed as he charged in. "Young Midoriya and Mido are here!" He pointed at them dramatically, to the shock of the four.
"Whoa, All Might! What are you doing here?" Izuku looked at him wide-eyed.
"Lunch! You two wanna eat with me?" He held out his lunch box.
"That's adorable!" Ochaco spit out, Izuka laughing awkwardly at her.
"Whaddaya say?" He offered the twins. They both glanced back at Tenya, who nodded to signal that it was okay for today.
"Sure thing!" He ran up to the man.
"A-Alright then," Izuka walked up to them.
Is something wrong? Izuku thought to himself since All Might had never asked to eat lunch with them until now.
Meanwhile, Ochaco and Tenya waited in line without them. "I wonder what he wanted with Deku and Mido," She looked up at the boy.
"I heard that when All Might was attacked by villains during the USJ incident, Midoriya and Mido tried to stop them themselves. Perhaps that's what this is about."
"Oh yeah!" Ochaco smiled as she remembered.
"Also, remember what Asui said on the bus?" Tenya recalled something else as well.
"That power of yours, Midoriya...isn't it a lot like All Might's? And does that mean Mido is hiding it too?"
"Since their Quirks are so similar to each other, it's possible that All Might has taken a liking to the both of them," Tenya pointed out and Ochaco nodded in agreement. "How lucky!"
Shoto was nearby, listening in on their conversation. Neither of them noticed him. All Might and the Midoriyas, huh?
The three were eating in the teacher's lounge. It was marked for use, so no one was going to walk in on their conversation. "Only 50 minutes?" Izuku asked in disbelief from the news that Toshinori just told them.
"It used to be only 3 hours..." Izuka gave a small frown.
"Yeah," He sighed a little while making his lunch. "That's about how long I can use my power now. I overdid it too many times," He explained to the twins sitting across from him. "That Nomu was a real tough customer. He took a lot outta me. At this point, I can barely even look like All Might for an hour and a half."
"I'm so sorry," Izuku immediately thought he was to blame for this. "I should've just-"
Toshinori busted out laughing while spewing blood, alarming the both of them. "Neither of you need to apologize for anything!" He patted the side of his head. "Man, we are alike, you two and me," He placed some cups of tea in front of them. "Have some tea."
"Thanks..."
"We're...alike?" Izuka tilted her head in confusion while picking up her cup. "I don't see how. Our personalities are so different between you and I, Mr. All Might."
He gave her a small smile. "Well, you are determined, even if you feel like you're scared. You always have good intentions as well, especially when it comes to your brother. I've learned quite a bit from you just by being your teacher...about how I can change my tactics."
She blinked and then smiled back, remembering when he promised not to let Izuku break himself.
"I brought you both here to talk about the festival."
"Oh great," Izuka groaned while turning away and he sweatdropped on the reason why. "You just had to remind me..."
"Heh. Sorry. The problem is, you still can't fully control One for All yet," Toshinori pointed towards Izuku before turning to the girl. "As for you, well...aside from the obvious dislike of the crowds, you've gotten adjusted to your Quirk, but you still have so much to learn about it. So then, what are your plans?"
"Hmm," Izuku looked down in thought before gasping. "Wait, I did once! When I landed a smash on that brain villain, there was no backlash at all!"
"And when I used my shield the second time protecting my classmates, I was a lot more in control than the first time," Izuka sipped her tea.
"Oh, that's right, you did mention that and you did seem to have the hang of that shield the second time. What was different about that smash and the use of your new ability?"
"Umm," Izuka looked up in thought.
"Let's see," Her brother took a few seconds himself to think about it. "We were facing real villains and I didn't have much time to think, but maybe that's part of it, since I knew this wasn't just more training."
"Maybe for me, I wanted to protect my classmates so much that it just came to me," The girl looked at her hand. "Everyone was in danger and I didn't know if we'd even survive the whole thing. I didn't think much either, my arms just spoke for me."
"I'm sure you're aware that I have a powerful Quirk. It's called Black Hole," Thirteen informed the class after meeting them. "I can use it to suck up anything and turn it into dust. But my Quirk could also very easily be used to kill."
Izuku then made his hand into a fist. "This was the very first time...ever...that I used my power against a person."
Izuka closed her eyes in thought. "The first time was when I was fighting with Bakugo-San and Kirishima-San against the villains. But it didn't harm anyone." The sludge villain wasn't technically a human being, so that didn't count. Neither did the robot the two defeated during their entrance exam.
"Hmm," Toshinori rubbed his chin after hearing this. "Sounds like you succeeded in subconsciously putting on the brakes so you wouldn't have to kill anyone. In Mido's case, it seems like she only used it to prevent harm to her two classmates. Hey, that's some kind of progress at least. Your tea's getting cold, Midoriya."
"Oh, right, thank you," Izuku picked up his cup.
"And the Sports Festival?" Toshinori glanced at the girl.
"Still figuring that part out..." She mumbled in a bit of embarrassment. She had no idea still how she was even going to get past it. Maybe she could just imagine the crowd wasn't there and also not draw too much attention to herself...
"To be frank, I don't have much time left as the world's Symbol of Peace," The man walked up to face the window. "Soon, I'll have to put that title to bed."
Izuku gave a small frown as he never considered it a possibility until now. The hero All Might had been around for a very long time. "No way..."
"And some villains out there are startin' to notice that," Toshinori narrowed his eyes at the thought. "Someone has to step up and keep the people safe." Izuku gasped as he stood up, Izuka glancing up at the man. "I gave you my power for one reason, Midoriya: cause you will be the hero who takes my place. And if you keep going at the pace you are now, Mido...you'll become a new symbol. The Symbol of Light to protect from the darkness in the world."
Izuka flinched in shock at his words; she never thought she'd be a symbol herself, considering she didn't have All Might's power.
Izuku clenched a fist while on the ground. "I want...for myself and my sister to be the greatest heroes in the world! I want to save people just like you do. When they see my fearless smile, they'll feel safe."
"Do you still feel the same way you did when we met?" Toshinori asked him seriously. "Do you still wanna be a hero with your sister? And to see her grow stronger to make up for all the years she didn't use her Quirk?"
"Yes," Izuku nodded in determination.
"Do you still want to better your Quirk?" Toshinori glanced at Izuka. "To ensure that you'll keep your promise to him?"
"I do!" She clenched a fist with narrowed eyes.
"Excellent. The time has come for you two to prove it." Izuku blinked at him in surprise. "This Sports Festival: It's something that the pros—no, the entire country will be watching very closely," The two gave nervous sounds, especially Izuka towards the last part. "I want you two to think of this sports festival as your debut. You are the fledging Symbol of Peace and the fledgling Symbol of Light. The next All Might and new hope!" Both of them flinched at him. "Izuku Midoriya, Izuka Midoriya. I want you two to introduce yourselves to the world and proudly say I am here!"
Oh crap... Izuka sweated a little staring at him. This is way more than I was expecting when I said I'd use my Quirk for my brother's sake...
