Angel: Izuka's role and stats, huh? I can answer that. As for who she is and secrets, I'm not gonna answer that because the first one I feel like doesn't need to be 81 chapters in. And the second, will be learned as time goes on. Her role in the class, is...kind of something I'm leading into, I don't want to spoil that. But think in the lines of her brother, Katsuki, or Shoto-although she has already stated that she wants to be seen by them. A secondary role would be Support. Gonna speed through the stats: Power is A-, Speed B, Technique...ahh, I wanna say A- or B, Intelligence, B- because she doesn't understand romance mostly, Wits B-, Cooperativeness would be S, and Artistic Skill is S. But that's just my opinion, others are free to give their own stats on Izuka if they wish. Actually, yeah, people please review Izuka's stats based on the Ultra Analysis, I wanna hear how they scored her and why.
Ngl, I almost forgot about this question. The carpet is being removed in my house, so I've been busy moving a lot of my stuff, and it's not fun. Anyway, if Gang Orca looks like a villain, who are the first two? This is just an assumption on my part, but Shishido's anger makes him one to me (watch the baseball OVA on why I picked him). And the other...maybe All Might...? Because he did dress up as a villain twice now, both last week and in the very first OVA. And the fourth movie where the villain looks exactly like him. I know the first two were a joke, but still, the last movie gives me Sonic Adventure 2 vibes (which unfortunately, that movie I still have yet to watch).
The provisional hero licensing exam has ended. Now, it's finally time for the results to be revealed.
It's really nerve-wracking for only 101 examinees to come this far. After everything we've been through, it all comes to this.
"Anyway, the names of those who passed are listed here in alphabetical order. Keep my words in mind as you search the screen for your name," Mera gestured to the big screen next to him as all of the names popped up. Everyone looked for their name intensely.
"Wow," Mezo murmured at the list of those who would get their license. "A lot of people passed."
"Mi-Mi-Mi-Mi-Mi..." Minoru muttered as he and the twins searched for their own names.
"Mi...Mi...Mi..."
"Where is it?!" Katsuki shouted while pushing past Eijiro and Denki. Izuku's name was on the board, to his relief.
My name...! His mouth opened in shock. I passed! I did it, All Might!
"I'm up there!" Minoru cheered as he saw his as well. "Just call me a hero!"
"I did it," Kyoka sighed in relief as she was up there as well.
"There I am," Tenya smiled happily for passing.
"Alright," Mezo looked happy behind his mask.
"I'm on the board!" Ochaco cheered, pumping her fists.
"Thank goodness," Hanta felt the satisfaction that he didn't get during the practical exam.
Fumikage smiled with a small nod as he had passed as well. "What a relief..." Mashirao murmured, a hand on his forehead.
"Magnefique!" Yuga celebrated his own pass, sparkles around him.
"Heck yeah, I did it!" Rikido looked up with a proud smile.
"Yeah!" Mina blushed in excitement, her hands behind her head.
Koji blushed as he was up there. Momo smiled in glee at her name on the board. "Another small step toward being a pro."
"Ribbit," Tsuyu smiled as well, feeling proud of herself.
"I passed!" Toru waved her arms after seeing her name. "I passed!"
"Killed it!" Denki gave a peace sign.
"Right on!" Eijiro smiled as he had passed too. He then glanced to the side. "But uh..."
Katsuki was seething towards the board. "No!"
"Yo-Yoarashi?" Inasa searched for his name as well, but it wasn't up there. "Yo..." He flinched in alarm as the last name was Kaito Yusa. "It's not there..." He then covered his eyes with his hat in shame. "I failed. It's over..."
Shoto's name wasn't up there either, as Fumikage was the last name with a T on the board. But unfortunately...another particular name wasn't up there. Izuku gave a sound of shock, glancing at his sister.
"Uh...Izuka, your name..." Izuku faltered and she gave a look of disappointment, her eyes saddening. He didn't need to finish the sentence...because there was only one Midoriya up on that board.
"I...I failed the exam...?" She murmured in shock, her eyes shaking.
"Mido..." Ochaco murmured sadly for her, remembering their conversation during their ultimate move training.
"It makes me wanna prevail too!"
Izuka then gave her a happy smile. "Then let's both do really well for the provisional licensing exam, Ochaco!"
"Uh..." Izuku then looked towards Shoto in shock that he had failed as well. He failed too?
"There has to be some mistake!" Momo spoke up with narrowed eyes. "Mido was working hard to pass!"
"Yeah, she definitely did more than us three," Denki gestured to himself, Eijiro, and Katsuki. "That's not right!" He gave a look of disapproval. She was the one who led them with the HUC victims from their team, and she had stepped in to fight Gang Orca. Not even when she got injured did that stop her from what her choice was. And when Shoto and Inasa were fighting, she was frustrated with them. But she wasn't arguing with them either, she was trying to help them solve their issues and fought back against the 'villains.' So for her to not pass...just didn't make any sense.
"We're gonna get to the bottom of this, Mido!" Eijiro clenched a fist and she didn't turn around. She looked towards the ground.
I can't believe I failed...I thought I did everything right, but...I didn't pass with everyone else? Why? I guess...maybe I'm not as good as I thought I was. "Guys...it's really okay," She didn't look towards anyone, though. Izuku gave her a deep frown, and Shoto himself wasn't too happy to hear that she didn't pass.
This is because of what happened with that guy. Not only did we injure her, we probably caused her to fail as well...
He bit his lip as he felt like he needed to make this right. His friend shouldn't have failed just because he got distracted by someone else, and she was trying to ensure that he didn't fail. "...Mido-"
"Todoroki! Midoriya! Er, Ms. Midoriya," Inasa walked up to the both of them, staring the two down. He gave them an intense look like he did with Shoto...and then bowed his head so low his head hit the ground. "I'm sorry, to the both of you! It's my fault that you two didn't pass the licensing exam." The two blinked down at him in shock that he was even apologizing. "My focus was too narrow minded, and I didn't mean to hurt you, Midoriya. Forgive me! And I thank you, Midoriya, for trying to help me even though I didn't listen!"
Katsuki looked towards the girl wide-eyed, as he didn't know that he was partly responsible for Izuka's injuries. That guy hurt her and she didn't say anything? Why the hell not?
"Yoarashi-San..." Izuka faltered a little at him, sighing with a weak smile. "There's nothing to forgive. It's not like you meant to...it was an accident."
Hearing that made Katsuki's blood boil.
Shoto looked away in silence. I've tried to ignore that I'm my father's son. But it's something I must come to terms with if I aim to be a hero. He then looked towards the boy. "You're fine. I was the one who got us off to a bad start. And you weren't the only one who hurt Mido. I did too, in more ways than one," He held up a hand.
"Uh?" Izuka blinked at him in alarm. "Todoroki, Yoarashi-San, really, it's okay. I know you didn't do it on purpose," She gave him a small smile.
"But still..." Inasa gave her a small frown.
"And thanks to the things you said to me, I have a lot to think about. And a lot to make up for to the Midoriyas," Shoto stated and Izuka just gave him a tiny smile. She felt like he wouldn't let this go unless he earned her forgiveness, so she wasn't going to argue about it right now.
"Holy crap," Mina looked at Shoto in surprise, along with Hanta. "Did he really fail?"
"How could our top three classmates not pass the exam?" He murmured towards the two.
Denki gave a playful wink towards Katsuki. "Shoulda been more careful what you said. Words are important, you know. Uh..." He gave a look of terror as Katsuki looked like he would REALLY murder him this time around.
"Shut your mouth before I murder you..." He stated and Denki stayed quiet for his own sake.
"Those entitled people at the top think so highly of themselves, don't they?" Minoru scolded a little, even though that would only be for just Katsuki. "Their own egos are their worst enemies." He then placed his hands on both Shoto and Izuka's shoulders. "Looks like our class hierarchy is collapsing!" The pervert then used the opportunity to oogle at Izuka. Tenya grabbed him by the cheeks to move him away, keeping an eye on him.
Momo and Izuku both looked at the two. "I can't believe this..." Izuku murmured in disbelief.
"Poor Todoroki and Mido..." Momo's eyes saddened towards them. The two just continued to stare at Inasa, who didn't get back up. He felt too ashamed over what he did to face them at the moment.
"So, next we'll give you the printouts of your results," Mera suddenly announced, breaking the silence. Katsuki gritted his teeth, looking up bitterly towards the board. "They include a breakdown of your scores, so you'll know exactly what areas you need to improve going forward."
"Kirishima," One of the Heroes Public Safety Commission employees handed over the red-haired boy's paper.
"Thank you, sir!" He smiled up at the man, watching him leave.
"Hand it over..." Katsuki slowly turned around to him. "I wanna see."
"Uhh, maybe you should focus on you?" Eijiro anxiously looked over his shoulder.
"Well? Come on!" Toru nudged Denki looking over his own paper. "How'd you do?"
"Give me a chance to look and I'll tell you," He retorted while eyeing his results.
"We lopped off points when you did something wrong. Fall below 50, and you were done. These demerits are itemized on your result forms, as you'll see, so I'd look at them," Mera instructed all of the students.
"61 points?" Mashirao looked at his in surprise. "I barely made it."
"Whoa, I got 84! Look at that, guys!" Hanta showed his paper happily. "It turns out I'm actually kind of great at this stuff."
"Wait, Yao-momo, you got 94 points?!" Kyoka's eyes bulged at the paper, and Momo looked pretty pleased with her score.
"What about you, Ida?" Izuku walked up to him eyeing his own results. "How'd it go?"
"I ended with 80," He revealed with a small smile. "Overall, it seems my weak points were in practical application. What about you?"
"I got 71 points," Izuku showed him his own paper. "It looks like they mostly docked me for some of the stupid things I said at the beginning, and for times when I was just kinda standing around."
"I'm thankful we've been given such empirical evidence about what we should improve upon!" Tenya pumped a fist while looking up to the sky. Izuku just gave him a small nod, since he couldn't really argue there. Then he noticed that Izuka didn't have anything.
"Huh? Hey, where's your results?" Izuku turned to his sister since she didn't get a paper.
"I...don't know," She faltered as first she was disappointed, but now she was confused. "Why would I fail the test and not get my results?"
"Mido..." Momo murmured sadly for her.
Izuku frowned towards his paper. He felt terrible for the girl, since she was obviously doubting herself and her abilities right now. This isn't fair. Izuka works really hard and she never hesitates in a fight...what went wrong? But I wonder...since this was a demerit system that didn't give anyone the chance to add points, there was no hope of passing after someone fell below 50. He glanced specifically at Shoto and Inasa looking at their results. So why let those people continue to fight until the end? Why not take them off the battlefield when they failed?
"Anyway," Mera spoke up again to the crowd. "Moving forward, those of you who passed can exercise the same authority as pro heroes, but only during emergency situations. In other words, fighting villains, saving the victims of criminal acts or accidents. You may act using your best judgment, with no direct orders. Keep in mind that your every action from now on carries with it a deep responsibility toward bettering our society, and that the world is watching you. I'm sure you're aware that All Might, our greatest hero, no longer has his incredible power. One of the reasons crime in this country has been so low is due to his presence. With that deterrent gone, criminals are sure to become bolder and more widespread." All of the girls surrounded Izuka in support for her failing. "Expect the balance we currently have in our world to be destroyed, and for things to change quickly. You young people will be the hope for our future. It's imperative that you become exemplary heroes. That your reputations grow to suppress crime as did his. Remember, the license you earned today is provisional, and you still have much to do. I would like for you to think of yourselves as fledglings, and be even more diligent in your studies."
Izuku clenched a fist hearing his words and taking them seriously. Izuka couldn't help but wonder a little, though...if her controversial fight with All for One factored in her failure. But if it did, they probably wouldn't have even let her take the exam...but she also didn't see the reason why she didn't pass today.
"And as for those who fell short and did not pass." Denki and Eijiro nervously looked towards a furious Katsuki. "We don't have time for you to feel bitter about your loss. Instead, we offer you a chance to redeem yourselves." Katsuki dropped his snarl, looking up. Izuka blinked in shock, letting out a small gasp. "After you attend a three-month long special course and pass an individual test, we plan to issue a provisional license to those of you who failed as well."
Everyone gasped, everyone murmuring amongst themselves. "In order for us to reach the idyllic future that I just spoke of, we're going to need as many good heroes on the streets as we can get. The first round was one to weed people out. But we would like to grow the 101 selected in that test as much as possible. That's why we watched you all until the end. So we could see for ourselves that you each have promise. That once your shortcomings are corrected, you have the potential to be as great as your fellow classmates. This special course will keep you busy, as it will run concurrently with your normal studies. You're welcome to retake the exam in April if you prefer to wait."
"Oh, like hell!" Katsuki declared immediately while gritting his teeth.
"Special course!" Inasa exclaimed with some of his passion still in him.
"Isn't this great, Todoroki, Izuka?" Izuku pumped his fists encouragingly. Tenya gave the two a small smile. "You can take the special classes and you'll get your license! I don't know why you failed, sis, but that just means you have to push yourself even harder!"
"You don't have to!" Minoru popped up in front of them. "Just...take it easy! Relax! The hierarchy is collapsing-"
Tenya slapped his cheeks together to make him be quiet. He then stood up with a smile towards the two. "We'll root for you both!"
Izuku gave a small smile and nod.
"...Thank you," Shoto looked at them gratefully. "I'll work hard."
"Thanks..." Izuka murmured a bit dejectedly.
"Mido!" Ochaco ran up to her, along with the girls. "We'll be behind you every step of the way!"
"We can help you study whenever you need it!" Momo offered with a small smile.
"And we can even have a girls' night, what do you say?" Mina gave her a big grin. Minoru looked giddy hearing this, which they took notice of it immediately.
"We'll have it in your room," Tsuyu stated, a finger on her chin. "With the door locked and the windows shut."
"Why deny me?!" Minoru cried out and Kyoka rolled her eyes.
"Because you're you," She deadpanned and Izuka gave the girls a small smile for them wanting to cheer her up.
"Sure, that sounds like fun, you guys."
"I'll bring the snacks!" Toru giggled a little, the girls surrounding Izuka and talking in excitement. She looked much better while talking to them, to Izuku's relief. Katsuki looked over his shoulder, staring at Izuka.
She squeezed her eyes shut. "So...is there any chance in the future that you'll forgive me, Katsuki?"
"Tch," He turned away, hands in his pockets. She's so damn irritating. Why the hell should I even waste my time on her? She said what she said.
"Screw you!" Katsuki's lips quivered a bit as he moved down his head. "Izuka...the past few months...I wish I could forget. But I can't...deep down, I don't hate your guts...I don't think I ever did. In fact..."
A blush came to his face as he turned away from the girl, his bangs hiding his face. He said what he said too... "God damn it..." He muttered, a hand on his face as he wanted to explode it. Why is it that her stupid face keeps popping up into my mind? Why did it have to be her...?
And so, with that, the provisional licensing exam was finally complete.
And most of our class had earned their licenses...
And my classmates and I were all one step closer to becoming pro heroes!
Izuku looked at his own license in his hand. It had his hero name and a picture of him, which he was very nervous taking. But other than that, he was shaking in happiness, tears in his eyes. Izuka stared at him with a small smile. After him not getting a Quirk and then earning one, he deserved it.
"Deku, are you crying?" Ochaco stared at him nearby.
He yelped and then gave a look of embarrassment. "Yeah, well, you know. This is a lot. So many people have helped me get to this point, and some of them went through a lot of trouble to do so. Meaning...how do I put this?" He smiled down happily at the license. It was only for emergencies, but...it also meant a lot to him. That in due time, he'll be practically a pro hero when he graduated. "It's like this is proof I've matured and gotten stronger. And it makes me so happy." He then took out his phone to snap some pictures. "I need to show this to my mom and All Might as soon as possible!"
"Mm," Izuka looked away, knowing that she'd have to break the news to them as well...
Ochaco smiled at his enthusiasm. "Yeah. I get it." She then noticed the girl's distant expression. "Deku...maybe put that away?"
"Huh? Oh!" Izuku rubbed the back of his neck towards his sister. "I'm really sorry, Izuka..."
"No, it's fine," She shook her head slowly. "As long as you're happy, that's all that matters."
They both looked at her sympathetically. Now Izuku knew somewhat how she felt when she didn't use her Quirk when she earned it...he felt like he was stabbing her in the back, and he knew she said she was fine, but she clearly wasn't.
"Eraser!" Ms. Joke approached the teacher. "Since we've reconnected, how bout we get together for joint training sometime?"
"Yeah," He for once agreed with her. "That could be smart."
"Hey! Hey!" Inasa shouted while running over and waving.
"It's that Shiketsu guy," Tsuyu looked at him wide-eyed.
"Todoroki! Ms. Midoriya! I'll see you at the special course, but here's the thing!" They watched as he ran right past them. "Honestly, nothing's changed. I still don't like you, Todoroki. Sorry! That's all for now!" He then ran right back towards his bus as quickly as he came over.
"That was nice of him, I guess..." Eijiro stared after him awkwardly.
"We'll just make the best of it," Shoto murmured as they kept staring. Inasa was definitely...unique for a first-year student.
"Interesting," Yuga rubbed his chin with an intrigued smile. "He is someone who is both bold and sensitive. I admire such joie de vivre."
"Hey, baldy and icy hot!" Katsuki stormed up to the two. "What the hell did you two do to the mouse?!"
"I'm so sorry!" Inasa bowed to him and Shoto just stared at Katsuki. He didn't think the blond would even ask the question. "But I'm not bald, see?" He lifted up his hat to reveal his hair.
"Screw that! You and me are settling this!" Katsuki was then held back by Mr. Aizawa's scarf.
"Stand down, Bakugo. Mido's already informed me of what happened. It was an accident so nothing will come out of it, including from you."
Izuka stared at them sheepishly. Is it really worth getting angry over?
Izuku then gasped as he recognized Nagamasa, because...oddly enough, one of the Shiketsu students was actually missing. And there had been no sign of her for hours. "Excuse me! Hello?" He called out to get Nagamasa's attention. He then opened up his notebook, eager to take notes. "I wanna know more about the training you do to erase your presence!"
"We haven't learned anything like that," Nagamasa informed the boy, to his confusion. Izuka raised a brow as she stepped up towards the two.
"R-Really...?"
"But, that girl...the one in the bodysuit did it," Izuku blinked in alarm, wondering how someone from their school did it when it wasn't part of their training. "I wanted to talk to her about it so that I can understand how it worked." Izuka then cleared her throat and he gave an awkward look towards her. "And...my sister wanted to talk to her about how she was acting...Do you have any idea where she might be?"
"Bodysuit...oh! You mean Camie," Nagamasa realized who they were talking about. "She said she wasn't feeling too well and took a cab to the station so she could go home."
Izuka raised another brow; Camie wasn't present at all during the second round of the exam. And she didn't see her name on the board either. Which was...very odd, considering she had business with the twins for completely different reasons. If she wanted to continue her goals, why didn't she stay?
"Oh, I see...Too bad I didn't get the chance to ask," Izuku sounded a little disappointed.
"Whatever happened with you two girls, I deeply apologize for her behavior. Actually, she's been acting kind of strangely for the past few days." Camie was walking down an alleyway currently by herself. "A little different from her usual self, I'd say."
A phone rang and gray blobs fell from her body. "It's about time you picked up," Mr. Compress retorted back as the grey matter continued to fall. "Where are you right now? Toga?"
Camie...was actually Himiko Toga the entire time! Though she still had the bruises she got from Izuka. "I had the most wonderful fun today," She gave a small smirk of joy.
"Don't get so lost in your role that you slip up. There's too much at stake to get caught."
"Oh, don't worry," She dismissed his concerns. "I've never been caught in my life." Compress was in a factory with Shigaraki. He had changed his appearance as he had the creepy hands over his arms now, held by red strings. "Not even close. And my mission was a success. Tomura's gonna be so happy~!"
She held up a vial with one drop of blood inside. "I managed to get some of Izuku's yummy blood!" She gave a happy giggle, a light blush on her face before she pouted. "His sister managed to catch me off guard, though. If it wasn't for Izuku, she wouldn't even be alive, but oh well..."
Himiko Toga. Her Quirk, Transform. By ingesting someone's blood, she can transform into that person.
A few hours earlier
"The second semester must be starting soon," A familiar eerie voice spoke from the Tartarus prison. "Or has it already begun? I assumed that you would devote yourself to teaching now." Toshinori himself...was visiting All for One, who had been in Tartarus ever since the Kamino Incident. He was wearing his All Might costume, though not in his muscle form. He had an indignant look in his eyes, as he didn't want to be here...but he needed some answers. The two men were separated by glass, plus All for One was in a straight jacket, strapped to a gurney.
"And yet you've come to visit me..."
He gritted his teeth a little. "I'm here so we can get a few things straight. All for One..."
"Do you know how stifling this place is, All Might?" All for One asked after a few seconds. "If I so much as try to scratch an itch by rubbing my body against this chair, then every gun muzzle in my cell block suddenly points at me." There were cameras everywhere with all eyes on him. "My brain waves are constantly being monitored along with my vital signs. One thought about activating my Quirk, and I'll likely be put down like a rabid dog."
Toshinori just stared at him in silence, as he felt like All for One didn't deserve to complain about anything. Especially with how he had terrorized people and got Izuka involved just to spite him.
"Imprisoned deep underground, smothered by layers of high-tech security," The whole time he was smiling. Most likely taking pride in the fact that All Might was no more because of him. That the world no longer had the Symbol of Peace and were deep down panicking about what they were going to do now. And it pissed off Toshinori that the man was proud of the fact deep down. But he wasn't going to give All for One the satisfaction of seeing him angry. "Not even a bit of stimulation for my mind. The world likens this place to something out of a Greek myth, calling it Tartarus. That's the name of the underworld prison where kings and titans were punished. Escaping would be a struggle even for me."
"You're trapped here," Toshinori narrowed his eyes. "You'll never go free."
All for One just chuckled in response. "I'll let you believe that. So what now? Let's hear what you have to say. Where's Gran Torino and your precious little Izuka Midoriya? You came here alone? And in a costume, no less. Please don't tell me you're still trying to be a hero with that feeble body."
"You're chatty," Toshinori retorted back, not answering the questions because it was none of the villain's business.
"Don't feel flattered. I just haven't had anyone to talk to in a while." Of course, the two were being watched by several guards.
"...I want answers," Toshinori spoke up after a few seconds. "Tell me where Tomura Shigaraki is hiding right now. And whether or not you were lying about Young Mido's DNA."
"Haven't the slightest," All for One gave him a teasing smile. "And what's this? That girl didn't die a slow, painful death? Seems I didn't hurt her hard enough. I'm sure if you bring her to see me, you'll get all the answers you'd want."
Toshinori gritted his teeth, clutching at his pant leg. Don't do it. Don't let him get to you...he's doing this on purpose to get the reaction he wants. How dare he try to get her to see him?
"Unlike your birds, mine left the nest and makes his own decisions."
Toshinori took a deep breath, opening his eyes. "What were you trying to achieve? What are you hoping for now? Your body should have died a long time ago, yet you preserved it. You devote your time to exploiting and controlling people, toying with innocent lives for no reason. And you got my student involved in something that she couldn't have been prepared for. Why?" He demanded from the villain.
"Of course you came here with tired and dull topics. Even if I told you the truth, you wouldn't be satisfied," All for One informed the former hero. "There are some people who'll never understand each other," He then let out a disappointed sigh, which only caused Toshinori to narrow his eyes into a glare. "We are the same. Though you'd never admit it. Just as you longed to become the hero of justice, I longed to be an all-powerful devil. It's that simple. I had an ideal, and the power to see it enacted. If I could live forever inside my dream, then why would I begrudge the effort to make it a reality? As for Izuka...she has a rather empowering Quirk. To be able to control elements of something we see every single night, only for it to be wasted in being a student with you. It truly astounds me how pathetic it is to still be standing and UA still trusts her."
"Why would you need a successor, then?" Toshinori gritted his teeth. "And you want her Quirk? What benefit would it bring you?"
"You of all people ask that?" All for One let out another chuckle. "What a laugh. It's because you took everything from me. Look at my body. I'm alive, yes. But only because of tubes and machines. After you appeared, my 'infinite potential' suddenly became finite. It's normal to pass your work onto someone else when the end is near. Think of it as inheritance. Like the estate you pass down. Or the well sown field, planted by one person and cultivated from generation to generation. I'm just trying to do what everyone else on this planet is already doing, nothing more. It's not Izuka's Quirk that will benefit me...breaking her down piece by piece will. So will knowing every single factor of how it works. I heard she can throw a comet now? How fun..."
Toshinori's eyes widened at him. "She's got nothing to do with you...she's just a child." He clenched a fist tightly, hoping that from now on, the villain wouldn't know about Izuka's abilities going forward. And how he even knew about them gave him chills...to think that someone in UA would do that to Izuka just to benefit the villains.
"Yes, but a child of your teaching. It's not mere coincidence that I chose her. I want to see her fall...just like you. So that your ideals don't pass onto a fledgling symbol. I'll ensure that doesn't happen. And should she believe what's been told by all those rumors...that'll be one step further of satisfaction," All for One grinned maliciously, having no regret or hesitance telling Toshinori this. "You didn't even tell the poor girl of her disputed loyalty to hero society, did you? Oh, how delightful! I wish I could've seen the look on her face when she found out you kept it from her. But I wouldn't be surprised if her mental downfall already begun because of our little fight."
So her Quirk can't be utilized by them unless she willingly gives it like One for All...he just made us believe it could...to make others doubt her? And then involved her so people would put less faith in her because of my intentions?
"You've got three minutes left, All Might," One of the guards informed him.
"Oh, come now, don't put a damper on things. I want to keep talking," All for One complained a little. "The world was probably pretty shaken up by your retirement and that disgustingly dull girl's injuries, so let's hear it. How are things actually looking on the outside?"
He mainly wanted to hear how people were treating Toshinori now that he wasn't All Might anymore.
"We're keeping him isolated from the news," One of the guards warned him. "Please refrain from giving him any information."
"You heard the man," Toshinori stated, although All for One was able to guess what things were like for Izuka now.
"Alright, be that way. But then, I have an active imagination." Toshinori pressed his lips together thinly. "Right about now, the media's concern about your absence and the fact you agreed to let Izuka fight me, is mixing with their worry about Endeavor as the new defacto leader. It's making them question the unity of hero society and whether or not they can even trust the girl in the future. Meanwhile, those lurking in the shadows have been listening closely. They sense the growing instability caused by the vacuum you left and are compelled to act. They think this could be their chance to change how the world works, and are starting to band together. I think Tomura and his group will continue to hide for the time being."
Himiko had just arrived back to Shigaraki and Mr. Compress as he spoke. "In order to ensure it's their organization that rises to the top. Everyone will naturally wish to increase their influence, so there will be some fighting among the factions. If the scenario I composed plays out as I intended to, then I know everything that's going on outside these walls. Do you know what I love most about this? Any rise in crime moving forward is due to you concealing your fading strength. And that in due time, that precious girl you call the Symbol of Light will be snuffed out by darkness."
Toshinori clenched a fist again, seething.
"And now you won't be able to save anyone. You've been relegated to the sidelines, doomed to watch society fall apart as villains flourish because of your own arrogance. Powerless for the rest of your days. So, tell me...how does that feel...hero?"
Toshinori stood up, still furious from the villain's words and intentions. Not only was he ridiculing him, but he was planning to make sure Izuka would never become a hero. If he was able to go back into his muscle form, he'd punch the glass and make sure All for One could stop breathing.
"All Might, don't approach the glass," A guard warned him, and the man was shaking.
"That's all I needed," All for One was pleased to see his enemy's expression. "I can see it written on your face. You're nothing now. You're finished. Bet you really wanna punch me, huh?"
Toshinori inhaled a shaky breath. "You think you know everything. But as always, you underestimate people."
"I kept wondering what would annihilate your golden heart."
"I understand your twisted plan very well," Toshinori spoke with disdain in his voice. "You want Shigaraki, my master's blood relation, to kill me. Or kill me and the Young Midoriyas. That's what you plotted."
"Perhaps," All for One gave him a small smirk.
"You're not looking at him like the villain he is anymore. That's dangerous, especially since we both know that if he wasn't involved, your student wouldn't have gotten hurt. Remember that, no matter his lineage, he's still a criminal." Toshinori then turned away in silence, as he couldn't help but continue beating himself up over it.
He clenched his fist again. No matter how much he wanted to help Shigaraki or wish he visited him...he still did terrible things to people, and he couldn't forgive that ever. "I won't be dying anytime soon. Especially not by Shigaraki's hand. I will not be killed so easily. And I refuse to let the future you imagine come to pass!"
"Hm. You said you came to set a few things straight," All for One hummed a little. "But this is really what you wanted to say."
"So then riddle me this...how'd they get Mido's DNA?" Toshinori demanded to the villain. "I already know you got a hold of her pen. What else do you have?"
"You're a fool if you think I'll just tell you."
The door then opened behind Toshinori before he could interrogate All for One more. "Time's up, sir. Please exit."
He whipped around so that his cape followed, glancing back. "I'll smash your plans. And thwart your plots. I am relentless. At this rate, I don't care how you got her DNA. You're the one who'll watch helpless from a cell for the rest of your days..." And with that, he walked out the door.
All for One just cackled at the declaration as he didn't take it seriously. "Rest of my days, huh...?" And he continued to smile as the doors closed...
Naomasa was driving back Toshinori to UA. His phone went off and he picked it up. "Excuse me." He then gasped as he saw that Izuku had passed the provisional licensing exam.
I was able to take another step forward thanks to you!
"Young Midoriya!" He exclaimed in surprise, giving a proud smile. He then realized he hadn't heard from Izuka regarding herself. He sent her a text.
I heard from your brother. Let's see it!
There was a small pause, and then three little dots. They went away but then seconds later, they reappeared. Then she decided to call him and he was confused, but still answered it. "Young Mido! You didn't have to call me to tell me the good news!"
She paused and then let out a sniff, causing his smile to drop. He had a feeling of dread listening to her cry because...they weren't happy tears. "Mr. All Might...I'm so sorry, but..."
He listened to her explain and then his mouth opened wide. He dropped his phone into his lap, his hand shaking as he put it to his mouth. No...Young Mido...
"As for Mr. Aizawa, he's decided to handle her on his own, which we agreed with."
Don't tell me...
It was late at night as Class 1-A was hanging out in the common room of their dorm building. "So, we're back to normal classes tomorrow, right?" Kyoka sighed a little, exhausted.
"I suppose there's no rest for heroes," Momo remarked, Ochaco and Tsuyu petting Koji's rabbit.
"Man, I could use a vacation," Rikido sighed heavily since first they had to prepare for the provisional exam, and now they were right back to classes...
"I'll not forget this summer the rest of my life," Fumikage remarked while Izuku was smiling towards his phone. Izuka was in the kitchen area, grabbing something to drink. She started to walk back towards the others, her hair hiding the disappointment in her eyes.
It's been a bit. I wonder if he got my message Izuku thought in a giddy way, hoping that he had pleased Toshinori. Although he did hear from Izuka that she already informed him of her failure...
"Mido."
She flinched and turned around to see Mr. Aizawa approaching them, and he was holding a folder. Everyone turned to him in confusion as well to see him in the room this late. "Uh? Mr. Aizawa. What are you doing here?" She walked up to their teacher.
"I wanted to talk to you about your test results for the provisional license."
She blinked while staring at him, wondering what there was to say. It was dead silence in the room now. Maybe it was because she didn't have her name on the board, and didn't get her results...? "What? But-"
"You remember what I said about your punishment?" He reminded the girl and she let out a small gasp. The teacher then glanced at the other class members watching them in silence before looking back at her. "This isn't a class matter. Let's go speak somewhere else."
He's probably gonna tell me that I screwed up so bad that he might expel me... She bit her lip nervously as she was dreading the talk. But she also had to hear him out, no matter what he was going to tell her. I'm the only one who didn't get to know what weaknesses I need to address. He probably wanted to tell me in person.
"Mr. Aizawa, wait," Izuku called out before Izuka could leave with him. "We were all wondering the same thing earlier. She wasn't on the board and she didn't get her results either...why is that?"
"It hasn't made sense to any of us," Shoto spoke up next. "She earned her license and yet she still didn't pass. If it's because of me she didn't, then I take full responsibility."
"What's going on?" Ochaco asked in concern. Izuka's eyes slowly widened at their insistence of asking even though she told them not to worry about it.
Mr. Aizawa sighed in defeat as he knew that if he didn't say anything, they'd keep asking. And he just wanted to get this over with. "If you must know, fine. I asked them to hand over Mido's results to me instead of her. They're right here," He held up a folder that had her name in bold.
"Wait, really?" Her eyes widened in alarm, wondering...if she had really passed since the paper would say it all. So it gave her a small glimmer of hope. "So that means that-"
"Let me finish," He interrupted and she clamped her mouth shut as he stared her down, and she didn't like where this was going. And he was talking in his stern voice, so it wasn't a good sign. "Your name was left off because I didn't want you to know at the time. And I still don't. That's because of your fight with All for One. So here's what you're gonna do. You'll take the special classes with Todoroki and Bakugo, and retake the exam in three months. They won't reveal your results then either. Only until then...will I hand these over," He waved the folder a little, his eyes glinting as he stared her down intensely. "Understood?"
She winced while closing her eyes and bowing her head. "...Yes, Mr. Aizawa..." She mumbled quietly to him.
"Let it be known that this is because of your past actions you need to answer for. Good luck, kid," He turned around and walked off, slamming the door. She let out a wince as there was another silence in the air.
"Izuka..." Izuku frowned at her as she lifted up her head. The others all stared at her sympathetically—well, not Katsuki. He had his eyes narrowed towards their teacher.
"Well, it could've been worse..." Denki rubbed the back of his neck.
"I'm sure you'll earn his good graces eventually, Mido!" Tenya patted her back encouragingly.
"Thanks, Ida-San..." She gave him a weak smile, grateful that it wasn't because she was that bad. Although she couldn't really say she was pleased, either... It's upsetting...but if this is what I have to do to gain his trust, then I will.
Everyone went back to their own things after a few minutes and Izuka was about to head for her room when she overheard something.
"You." Izuku gasped sharply as he looked up to see Katsuki approaching. "Meet me out front later," He then walked right past Izuku. "We need to have a talk about your Quirk and your sister," He said in a low tone so that no one would hear.
Izuku let out a breath, wondering why now he wanted to discuss this, and what changed. When Izuku mentioned it after combat class, Katsuki thought nothing of it. But now...he wanted to talk about it? He then glanced back with a small frown, wondering what was there to say...
"Um. Okay...?" He asked in confusion and Izuka furrowed her eyebrows a little. He noticed his sister in the doorway to the elevator, running up to her. "Oh, sis, are you going to bed already?"
Izuka didn't respond at first that he was worrying about her, not even mentioning what she witnessed. She didn't like this feeling Katsuki had brought by prompting a talk...and it didn't feel right either. "...Is everything okay, little brother? Is Katsuki bothering you again?"
"Huh? Oh...well, no. He just needs something later," He glanced away briefly, hoping that she wouldn't press further. "Don't worry about it." She's going through enough already after she failed today. I can't make things worse for her. If things go too far, then I'll tell her myself. And...it doesn't seem like Kacchan wants to get her involved anyway. Which...is kinda weird, now that I think about it.
The two stared at each other for a few more seconds before Izuka turned around. "Alright, then. Good night, Izuku," She then walked off towards the elevator, wondering if she should've pressed further. But at the same time, she doubted Katsuki would even want her there to begin with given what she said to him...he hadn't even talked to her about it ever since she apologized. And his reaction was still confusing to her too...
Ugh. I have too many thoughts on my mind to worry about him and Izuku. I'm sure it'll be fine...hopefully She placed a hand on her forehead, rubbing it as she felt a headache coming on. I have to hope he won't do anything because of me...right?
Oh, how wrong she would be...
It was late at night, and most of Class 1-A was asleep. Izuka was in bed, but her eyes were open looking up at the ceiling. What Katsuki did earlier still bothered her. Talking to him wouldn't help matters already...and she couldn't just involve herself in a private matter. But even then, Izuku wasn't too specific on what Katsuki needed from him.
I kinda wish I didn't trust Izuku's word so much...I'm older, I should be more concerned. But when it comes to Katsuki, part of me wants to trust him because of him not having no response to my apology. She pinched her nose in frustration. I could interpret it as him thinking about what I said, if I wanted to. But our talks during the provisional licensing exam also pointed to that not being the case... She crossed her fingers, hoping desperately to trust the both of them...
"Kacchan," Izuku spoke up as Katsuki was leading them away from the dorms. He was a good distance away from Izuku. "How far are we going? We shouldn't be walking around in the middle of the night." He didn't get a response, though, and Katsuki kept his eyes forward. He hadn't said a word the entire time either. "Hello...?" He tried again, and still nothing.
"Wow, you're so lucky!" Izuku walked behind Katsuki in the forest. Izuka was following behind with her hands behind her back, frowning deeply. "Your Quirk is amazing, Kacchan! When I get mine, I hope it's just as cool! Izuka's too!"
She looked towards the ground with shadows over her eyes. She hadn't had the chance to tell Izuku yet that she already had hers.
"Whatever, Deku and mousy, no matter what power you'll end up with, you'll never be able to beat me," Katsuki declared, flinching as he saw Izuka's face. He stared at her for a few seconds, wondering why she looked so upset. He gave a hum of thought and then scoffed, turning around. It was probably nothing for him to worry about.
The two finally came to a stop...standing in the middle of Ground Beta. "You brought us to Ground Beta?" Izuku wondered while looking up at the building. He couldn't imagine why here of all places. Or why Katsuki insisted that only they come here.
"This is the place where we had our first combat training," Katsuki finally spoke up, and sounded...a bit too calm. "Where I fought you and your sister and lost." Izuku let out a light gasp, staring at his back. Now he understood why here... "You've always made me sick. You know that, right, Deku? And sometimes your sister just pisses me the hell off just looking at her."
Izuku frowned deeply at his words. Somehow I knew. This was it.
"You were useless. She was a nervous wreck. No power at all. She had no backbone. A joke. And someone I really couldn't stand," He then looked over his shoulder. "So now you're gonna tell me how you two managed to get into this damn school with brand-new Quirks that appeared outta nowhere."
"Neither of us were hiding our Quirks from you. Mine was given to me by someone else. Recently." Izuku then gestured to himself. "I'll work until I have full control of this borrowed Quirk. And I'll finally beat you with my own power!"
"And...I really was born with a Quirk," Izuka clenched her fist. "It wasn't until he got one...that I started to see myself as a hero...the kind that he wants to see me as. And I won't...I won't take that for granted ever again!"
"I didn't understand what you meant back then because what you two were saying made no sense," Katsuki confessed with a small smirk. "But still, you kept climbing higher and higher, always looking so satisfied with yourself. And she kept fighting and fighting back against me, always thinking she could really look down on me," He turned back towards the building, thinking of what happened with the sludge villain. "Ever since that sludge villain...no, it actually started when All Might came to town. Better and better. Assertive and defiant. Until finally, you passed the licensing exam while your sister and I failed. How the hell is that even possible?"
"That wasn't a matter of ability, though," Izuku tried to reason with him, knowing that Katsuki was resentful of the fact that he kept failing. "And because Mr. Aizawa wanted to punish Izuka for her fight with All for One-"
That triggered something in Katsuki, and Izuku could tell by the way he flinched by bringing up the subject. "Shut up and listen, you damn nerd!" Katsuki yelled at him, causing him to freeze in a bit of fear.
"Sorry..."
"It pissed me off that I'd been beaten by such pathetic weaklings, even if she didn't pass today," The blond tapped his foot against the ground. "But after seeing what happened to All Might and Izuka at Kamino Ward, I began to understand." Izuku's eyes widened a little hearing him say Izuka's name after what was a while.
"It looks like...you've made that borrowed power your own."
Izuku gave a nervous gulp. He knew exactly what was coming. Izuku knew that Katsuki wasn't stupid and would've put the pieces together eventually. Here goes...
Katsuki looked over his shoulder again. "...I've been giving it a lot of thought. You got your Quirk from All Might, didn't you? He gave you his power. And Izuka hid hers for years because of how she cares about you? So there was no way for her to develop it because she was too worried she might hurt your damn feelings?" Izuku flinched as he couldn't say anything...because there wasn't a wrong answer. "I heard about the boss villain. Apparently he has the ability to steal a person's Quirk and give it to somebody else. Which sounds kinda crazy, but then one of those old cat ladies had her power taken from her and can't work anymore. That was why Izuka was so scared to see him...because she knew that the whole time. And then you two met All Might. And you both started changing. Then he lost his power and had to retire, just like her," He looked towards the ground, Izuku continuing to stare at him. "I remember what he said after he beat the big bad. We all heard it."
"Now, it's your turn..."
Izuku then started to cry as it hit him...that he had to realize the truth. That All Might...would never see the light of day again. And he dreaded if the same thing would happen to Izuka...that she was now Quirkless. As he sobbed, he attempted to wipe his tears, but more kept coming. Katsuki watched him in silence, as he had a feeling that the message was for Izuku. But he didn't understand why.
"Back then, you were the only one who really understood what he meant. And Izuka would've too if she wasn't unconscious, right? There's more evidence too, like how those Nomu monsters had multiple Quirks. Even though it seemed impossible," He then narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Besides..."
"You've gotten weaker, All Might."
"I'll make certain you're locked up for the rest of your life!" He declared to the villain.
"All Might and that boss villain knew each other." Katsuki and Izuka were nearby watching them wide-eyed. Katsuki had an arm around Izuka's head to protect her. She had covered her head when the wind blew towards them. "Before that fight. Quirks can move from one person to another. All Might knew the guy that could do it. And somehow it's all connected to what you said about getting your Quirk from someone else." Izuku continued to stay silent, wondering just how much he knew just based on his theories. "I asked All Might about this, in a way." He was referring to when he asked what Izuku was to Toshinori. "But he wouldn't give me a straight answer," He then stood up straight to face Izuku. "That's why you're gonna tell me the truth."
Izuku looked towards the ground, sweating. "Don't look so sad," All Might stated to the twins. "He didn't take you seriously, so I don't think he'll say anything. This time, I'll let things slide. Just make sure this doesn't happen again." Turns out they were wrong the entire time...
Katsuki glared at him knowingly, as he could tell by Izuku's face that he was on the right track. "You're not trying to deny anything. Which means I must be right. So say it," He demanded with a furious glare.
Izuku clenched his fists, shaking. When he said he wanted to talk about my Quirk and Izuka, I knew what was coming. This is the price I pay for not following All Might's instructions. He then slowly looked up at his rival with a serious expression. Even if he wanted to...he couldn't lie to Katsuki. "Okay...what if it's true?"
Katsuki narrowed his eyes further hearing this, and it only made him angrier. "You and I both wanted to be just like All Might when we were growing up. She wanted it too, even though every time I used to see her, she would always look like she didn't deserve it. But I was the one who had the potential. Then somehow, little nobodies like you two were singled out by the person I admired most, and I didn't even realize it. That's why we're here," He held out a hand, gritting his teeth. "You and I are settling this. Right here. Right now."
