Angel: Will Izuka and Bakugo get together at the end of season 8? Nope! Just gotta keep wondering when it'll happen~! But they do get more time together in the second half of the season—though they do not become a couple in season 4, I will stress that right now. But stay tuned for more moments with them, we still have a lot of stuff for them to go through.
I think I've gotten this question before on whether or not I'd do Ghost and Molly McGee. Uhh, I have watched it, but it doesn't spark anything in me to write it, I'm sorry. I never finished the show, but I do know that the finale is very sad. Nothing against the show, I just don't have any desire to do a fanfic of it. Hopefully that confession doesn't come back to bite me in the ass…
"Is it possible to become a hero if I don't have a Quirk? And for my sister to become a hero too when she doesn't want to use her own?"
The wind blew in All Might's hair as he stared down at the twins. "Young man, young lady. You too can become heroes," He spoke to the two. "I can transfer my Quirk to someone else. And that's just one facet of my secret abilities. The name of my power is One for All."
Izuku flicked his fingers at the Sports Festival to use it against Shoto's ice. "One person improves the power." He then moved his fist forward to punch Shoto in the stomach. "Then hands it off to another person." Shoto was sent flying from the attack. "It continues to grow as it's passed along."
Izuku recoiled back his fist while facing Stain. He and Tenya attacked him together. "It is this cultivated power that allows me to save those who are in need of a hero." Izuku activated it once again to punch against Muscular's arms. He then punched the villain hard in the face. "The truth behind my strength. And you're next! I can give you my abilities!"
This world is a superhuman society, with about 80 percent of the population possessing some uncanny ability called a Quirk.
These powers can range from ice, fire, gravity, super speed, and more.
Heroes fight against villains who abuse their powers for evil. It's no surprise the heroes became our champions.
Brave, fearless people who do great things to ensure the safety of the people. And with them around, crime decreases significantly.
My name is Izuku Midoriya, and I've always dreamed of being a hero.
And I'm his twin sister, Izuka Midoriya, but becoming a hero wasn't what I wanted at first...but now I've come to really embrace that.
So we enrolled in the prestigious UA High School together.
The top school in Japan to achieve our shared dream!
Our friends and the two of us are working hard toward a shared goal. Facing every challenge that comes our way, and saving people with a smile.
I wouldn't have gotten this far without them or my brother. All while I better myself as a person from who I was at the start.
We're training to become the world's greatest heroes. That's right.
This is...My Hero Academia!
"Still weak, though!" All for One mocked as the punch didn't affect him much.
Izuka's eyes shook a little, realizing what Toshinori did.
Toshinori's arm was smoking and All for One gasped. "That's because...I didn't put my back into it that time!" He flailed his broken arm into the air as powerful flames came from Izuka's left arm.
As she ran up, One for All started to emerge within Toshinori. He glanced back at Izuka briefly, seeing her on her feet already. He flinched, but didn't protest since he knew she was ignoring what he said in favor of assisting him.
Both of them punched the villain in the face at the same time. "United...States...of Smash Comet Punch!" The two shouted as they both knocked All for One into the ground together, creating another huge gust of wind and fire.
Izuka was slouched over, panting heavily as she stared at the villain, giving a weak chuckle for what she just did. Toshinori slowly reached out his arm, taking Izuka's hand. He held up both of their arms in victory.
"The villain's not moving! He's knocked out!" A reporter sobbed happily as someone was crying. "All Might and Callista stand victorious!"
"All Might! Callista!"
"He's saved us yet again!"
Someone from a news office was watching the video of All Might's last fight, getting emotional. "I can't believe we're never gonna see him in action again!"
"How 'bout you get back to work, fanboy?" His coworker gave an annoyed look nearby.
"Yes, ma'am!" He responded back nervously, changing his screen.
"Hero name: All Might. As a young man, his work with genius scientist David Shield brought him worldwide recognition. His meteoric rise continued after he returned to Japan, until he became known as the number one hero and Symbol of Peace-"
"No, no! Stop!" The editor-in-chief interrupted rudely to who was writing the article. "Our readers aren't looking for the same run-of-the-mill fluff they can get anywhere else." The one who was looking at the video earlier glanced over his shoulder. "We need something new—a scoop that's gonna blow their minds! We're already the last ones to put out a special issue on All Might's retirement."
"His acquaintances haven't exactly been forthcoming with the press," The man she was yelling at murmured awkwardly. And since UA had upgraded security, there was no way they could ask any of the UA teachers any questions...
"Are you a journalist or not?!" She yelled at him again. "What do you have on that villain he fought with Callista in his last battle?"
"The police aren't releasing any information about him," He reported back, which made sense because it was All for One. Knowing too much about him for someone who wasn't a hero would put them in danger. "All I know is that he's the mastermind behind the League of Villains."
She tapped her finger against his desk impatiently. "The story won't just fall in your lap! You have to get out there and chase it down!"
"Am I interrupting?" A new voice asked, getting their attention and they turned to the one speaking. "Anger's really not a good look on you, Chief. Now, come on. Give us a smile," The man in the doorway smiled towards her. He was a freelance journalist by the name of Taneo Tokuda.
"Well, look who's here," She gave him a small smile. "Hey, Tane."
"Long time no see," He greeted as he stepped over to the cubicles. "Sounds like you're looking for a story." He gave a wink.
"Now..." Toshinori lifted up his hand to point it towards the camera. "It's your turn." The video was paused there.
"Quite a statement," Taneo then glanced towards the three. "But what do you suppose he meant by it?"
"I figured it was a warning. You know, to the other villains," The editor-in-chief theorized, as did everyone else when they saw it. "I got your boss, now I'm after you."
"If that were the case, though, wouldn't he have said it differently?" Taneo pointed out to them. "You bastards are next on my list. Or something more along those lines."
She leaned over a bit curiously. "What are you suggesting here...?"
He then leaned back in his seat. "Four months ago, All Might took a position as a teacher at UA High, knocking he was reaching the end of his time as a hero. Then he ends his last battle with the message, now, it's your turn."
She then looked up in realization, as it hit her that All Might wasn't going to appear ever again. He knew this, and yet he still said that to the camera. Which meant only one option. "So, you think...?"
"That's right," Taneo finished for the woman. "He's been assessing the next generation of UA students, hoping he can find a successor among them. And, considering how he phrased his message...I believe he's already selected one."
The editor-in-chief gave a small hum and smirk. "That's why you're here. You have an idea of who it might be."
"At first, I thought it was one of UA's Big Three: Third year, Mirio Togata. He pays regular visits to the agency run by Sir Nighteye, All Might's former sidekick," Taneo theorized to the team.
"You're right, maybe he's our guy," The editor-in-chief agreed, and it would make sense, because Mirio was by far the strongest student of UA currently. Plus, with being the successor to All Might, he was practically on his way to taking the top spot.
"However, it appears that All Might and Sir Nighteye have parted ways. They no longer seem to be in contact with one another," Taneo pointed out to them.
"Could be misdirection."
"Possible. But I've actually been kicking around another theory," Taneo turned away from the computer screen. "From what I hear, All Might's been spending an unusual amount of his time with the students in Class 1-A."
Toshinori currently watched the 21 students running on the PE grounds.
"Interesting...you'd think that All Might's chosen one of them to be his successor? You think it's that girl he fought with?"
Izuka ran alongside Shoto, Katsuki, and her brother.
"I believe that to be the case, yes. But I don't think it's her, no. Considering her power, she has no evidence of having his Quirk. Although, it is possible that he wants to make her a symbol of her own considering they fought together without much pushback from him. But..." He looked at his watch. "Those League of Villains attacks have UA pretty spooked. Security's considerably tighter. A freelance journalist like myself would have quite a difficult time gaining entrance to the campus."
"Yeah, yeah, I get it," The editor-in-chief muttered and he looked up eagerly. "We'll get you access to the school. And in return..."
"And in return...I'll provide your paper with an exclusive scoop," He looked up with a smile. "For a substantial fee, of course," He gave them another wink.
"A newspaper?" All of the students asked once they heard the information. Mr. Aizawa had caught them when they were back from class with Toshinori.
"Yeah. They wanna do a feature on your class for some reason," He informed the group.
Ochaco looked up happily at Izuku. "Isn't that amazing, Deku?"
He looked away with a blush, nodding in silence. She's so close!
"That's kinda surprising, huh?" Denki smiled towards his classmates.
"Uh, not really," Eijiro commented, his hands behind his head.
"Yeah, I mean, the Sports Festival was on TV. And so was Mido twice now," Mashirao pointed out, causing Mr. Aizawa to glare towards Izuka. Her eyes were shaking towards him as she felt like he was gonna kill her.
"From now on, you need to be careful on what you're doing out there. You can't keep disturbing classes because of the media wanting to know more about you...!" His eyes shined red and she looked terrified for her life.
"Yes, sir...! I'm so sorry!" She cried out, trying not to cry from how far she was to getting his trust back again. It was bad enough that she kept making appearances in the media and that she had been disappointing her class lately. Izuku gave her a sheepish look, patting her back. "I promise, I'll try not to draw much attention with them today!"
"We've gotta look super cute in case they wanna take our picture!" Toru bounced around happily.
"For sure!" Mina agreed with a smile.
"I think you'll be just fine, Hagakure," Kyoka commented with a smile of her own.
"That's the opposite of not drawing attention!" Izuka yelped towards the three of them—having a reporter talk about her and her class was honestly the last thing she needed right now. She already had the special classes to worry about, regaining faith from Mr. Aizawa, and her crush on Katsuki. Hopefully, she could lay low today since they'd wanna get some details about her...
"That's enough," Mr. Aizawa warned the class and they all stood straight.
"Yes, sir..."
"It's nothing too exciting. The article's about how you're settling in, adjusting to dorm life, that kinda thing." Once she heard that, Izuka let out a HUGE sigh of relief. "Principal Nezu thought it would be a good idea. This'll show your parents and guardians that you're happy here. Maybe set a few minds at rest..."
"Newscasters are usually hot," Minoru looked up at Hanta. "This is awesome, right?"
"He said it was for a paper," Hanta raised a sly brow down at him.
Minoru then started drooling at the thought of a hot female reporter. "If she wants to write an article about my sticky balls, I'll give her an all-access pass, and then maybe Mido will be interested too. I'll let her-"
Katsuki didn't have to act this time around because Mr. Aizawa beat him to it. He wrapped his scarf around the short boy's body and mouth. "I expect you all to be on your best behavior today," He warned all of them, but especially Minoru. Izuka placed a hand over her face as she heard that part about her.
At least I don't have to hear Mineta-San wanting me to learn more about his sticky balls...I really don't want to go through that...
"Don't worry on my account, Mr. Aizawa," Taneo spoke up, getting his attention. He was standing nearby in the hall. "I wanna get a feel for what dorm life is really like, so there's no need for them to act any differently than normal."
"I didn't say you could come in yet," Mr. Aizawa stated in surprise as the man stepped up.
"I was told I had from 8 AM till 6 PM," He pointed to his camera-like watch. "So unless my watch is wrong..."
Mr. Aizawa slowly released Minoru, Izuka blinking at the man. He's diving right into it, huh? He wants to get as much as possible...
He then turned to greet the class. "Hello, everyone, my name is Taneo Tokuda. I'm looking forward to learning more about you all," He bowed his head humbly, causing Izuka to wince as she turned away awkwardly. Not off to a great start to her day if he wanted to know about her two televised fights...
"Nice to meet you!" They bowed their heads respectfully to him.
"Now, as I said, you don't need to do anything special. Just go about your day exactly as you normally would. The camera will do most of the work. I might ask an occasional question or two, and I hope you'll answer," He gave them a big smile.
Mina gasped as she gushed a little. "He's got such a nice smile!"
"I'm a little skeptical still..." Izuka murmured nervously, as she hoped that she would not get asked questions.
"That is so not a woman," Minoru complained from his spot. He was about to oogle at Izuka when Katsuki growled towards him. He shook in fear and covered his eyes so that he wouldn't get exploded today.
Yuga sighed while sparkling. "What to do? My sparkling personality will undoubtedly draw the camera like a moth to a flame."
"Yeah, undoubtedly," Rikido sweated awkwardly since Yuga very much wanted the attention. Which may or may not be a bad thing.
"Principal Nezu has probably already spoken to you about this," Taneo glanced towards Mr. Aizawa. "But I wanna make sure you don't interfere in any way. No offense-"
"I understand," Mr. Aizawa interrupted, waving a hand. "If you need anything, just let me know. Although...watch out for a particular student. She may be small, but she causes a lot of trouble for me," He looked at Izuka and she sunk a little, trying not to make it obvious, but it wasn't helping.
Please let today go by quick... She pleaded to herself.
"I'm sure I'm in very capable hands," Taneo gave him a small smile. "This is Class 1-A, after all. Every student here is a promising hero candidate," His glasses shined a little.
"Ida," Mr. Aizawa turned towards the class rep. "If there's a problem, let me know immediately. Got it?"
"Of course, sir!" Tenya slapped his arms together at his waist, standing up straight. "As class representative, I will carry out my duty to ensure the safety of all my fellow students, no matter wh-"
"That's great, thanks," Taneo interrupted the boy, earning an awkward look in return. "So, what would you normally be doing this time of day?"
Tenya pressed his feet together. "Having breakfast!"
Denki raised a hand with a big smile. "And Mido will sometimes pain-"
Izuka slapped his arm lightly with a glare. "Nothing! Absolutely nothing!" She gave him a warning look to NOT let it slip that she would paint during breakfast time if she wasn't having a huge breakfast. The last thing she needed was to be alone with Taneo...
The man blinked towards the two questionably, some of the students feeling a little awkward. "No need to be so formal," He shrugged it off with a small smile. "Just pretend that I'm not here..."
Mr. Aizawa stared at him skeptically. Not just because he hated the media, but he could tell that Taneo had more ulterior motives being here. I can tell this reporter is up to something. Doesn't feel criminal, though. I'll leave him to it for now. But if any more reporters come asking about Mido, I'm telling them no.
Taneo held up his camera and started to point it towards Rikido and Eijiro. They were eating as they stared at him. The two were sitting across Tenya and Izuku, who blinked at the camera. Taneo then took a picture of him eating. Ochaco looked a little nervous when her photo with Tsuyu was taken. Tsuyu just looked up without paying him any mind. Tenya looked as straight-laced as possible into the camera, not even smiling. Mina and Toru were happy in their photo, Kyoka just staring across from them. Momo was slightly hiding behind Mina's hair, as she didn't want to look like she had been stuffing herself. Minoru was still disappointed that it wasn't a woman, but Denki was glad for more recognition at least. Hanta was talking to a shy Koji, Mashirao smiling towards the two. Rikido and Eijiro stuffed themselves as they didn't care how they looked on camera. Shoto gracefully sipped his drink like he was in front of royalty. Yuga then got into the shot, holding a flower in his mouth...
Izuka and Katsuki were sitting together eating, when he'd usually eat alone. But she wanted to sit next to him this morning. He was having fish, and he held out his plate to her to try some. She took a piece eagerly and took a bite, smiling happily with her eyes closed. Katsuki then noticed Taneo snapping pictures of what just happened and screamed into the camera. Taneo fell backwards onto the ground and Katsuki took his plate back, stuffing his face. The man looked at him in bewilderment as Izuka smacked the boy onto the head. He looked up at her, seething like he did when his mother would hit him. She slid her chair back and went over to help up Taneo, apologizing profusely for him. Denki and Eijiro looked back at the three sheepishly for the blond's behavior...
Then it was time to head for class, and once they were out of the baths in their uniforms, they were preparing for class. They all walked out of their dorm building together, Tsuyu noticing a stray cat. Midnight was teaching them while Taneo was taking pictures near the twins. He then stood near the door so he could get the whole class in one shot. He focused his camera on Yuga, Mina, and Tsuyu.
"Seat number one is Yuga Aoyama. His Quirk allows him to shoot a laser from his stomach. Number two, Mina Ashido. She secretes a highly corrosive acid from her body. Number three is Tsuyu Asui, whose Quirk gives her the characteristics of a frog."
He then took pictures of the class during PE, watching them run across the field. He especially focused on Tenya's speed and the smoke he gave off from his engines.
"Seat four is Tenya Ida, the youngest son in the Ida hero family. He can move incredibly quickly."
He then took photos of Ochaco jumping across the field using her gravity during the long jump. Izuka clapped for her nearby with a smile.
"Ochaco Uraraka is in seat five. Anything she touches can become weightless."
Mashirao then used his tail to get to a high bar. "Number six, Mashirao Ojiro. His Quirk has given him a powerful prehensile tail."
Denki started to give off electricity in class, Eijiro pumping a weight nearby. "Seat seven is Denki Kaminari. He can store electricity in his body and discharge it. Number eight, Eijiro Kirishima. His Quirk lets him harden his whole physique."
Koji let a hamster touch his hand, Rikido looking over his shoulder curiously. The hamster then crawled up Koji's arm all the way to his shoulder. "Koji Koda is in seat nine and has the ability to control fauna. Rikido Sato, number ten. His Quirk changes sugar into immense power."
Hanta, Mina, Toru, Momo, the twins, Kyoka, and Tenya were all gathered around talking to each other. Then the next photo was them sitting down for Cementoss' class. Mezo used his ear to get a better listen, Kyoka using her earphone jack to charge a pencil sharpener. "Seat 11 is Mezo Shoji, who can manifest things like eyes, mouths, and ears at the tips of his arms. And number 12, Kyoka Jiro can use the plugs on her ears to hear quiet sounds, as well as release powerful sonic blasts."
"A large curry and five yakisoba bowls!" Dark Shadow announced as a plate was put in front of him. He then carried it over to Fumikage so that the boy wouldn't have to wait in line. Hanta caught the bread falling from the plate. "Thanks for waiting!"
"Number 13, Hanta Sero. He can shoot sticky tape from his elbows. Number 14 is Fumikage Tokoyami, who can manipulate a monster named Dark Shadow."
An explosion went off as well as an ice wall from the roof of UA. This came from Shoto training his Quirk. Izuka was nearby to time how fast he could go, turning off the stopwatch. Taneo also took a photo of her sneakers, since she did them herself.
"Shoto Todoroki sits in seat 15. He blasts ice from his right side and fire from his left."
Toru jumped up and down in excitement upon seeing the roof with Mina. Taneo focused his camera on her. "Seat 16, Toru Hagakure. Her Quirk's invisibility."
"DIE!" Katsuki screamed while giving off an AP Shot during training. He gave a smirk towards the camera while Izuka shook her head at him nearby.
"Number 17, Katsuki Bakugo. The nitroglycerin-like sweat on his palms causes explosions."
Izuku then zipped around on rocks, using his Shoot Style. "Izuku Midoriya is seat 18, older twin brother to seat 21. His Quirk lets him increase his physical abilities."
Nearby Izuku, Minoru was whistling while tossing a rock. "Seat 19 is Minoru Mineta. The balls on his head will stick to anything."
As it was raining, Momo created an umbrella, offering one to a girl from a different class. She gave a small smile as Izuka walked up to them. The girl then noticed Izuka's shoes, earning a bashful smile as she showed them off. Momo gave a proud look upon telling the girl Izuka did them herself, earning a panicked scream.
"Seat 20 is Momo Yaoyorozu, whose Quirk allows her to create things with her body. And finally, seat 21 is Izuka Midoriya, younger twin sister to Izuku Midoriya from seat 18. Not only can she fire her own shooting stars from her own body, but she can utilize powers based off of the solar system. And might I add, her shoes are incredible."
Taneo smiled at the students walking away from the school building, blinking as he noticed Katsuki and Izuka walking underneath the same umbrella.
"Walk behind me," He grumbled and she groaned a little.
"You're going too fast, though!" The girl whined out while holding only her school bag. Ever since moving into the dorms, she had stuck to painting whenever she was back in her room. Sometimes she'd paint outside of the dorm building when she felt like it. Despite that, Katsuki would still occasionally walk with her back to Heights Alliance.
"Well yeah, because you're going too slow!" He grunted towards the girl, but slowed down a bit anyway so she could walk next to him. He hated the rain, so he wanted to get out of it as soon as possible. Katsuki then saw Taneo out of the corner of his eye as they walked away. He narrowed his eyes a little, knowing that if he asked too many questions, he might catch onto some big secrets...and they couldn't have that. "Be careful around that reporter guy."
"Huh?" She looked up at him in surprise for him saying that. "Don't have to tell me twice..." She mumbled, looking away. "I've been making sure I haven't been alone all day just so he won't ask me any personal questions."
"Are you really that stupid?" The boy grunted in annoyance, closing his eyes. He then let out a small sigh, looking up ahead. "I'm talking about All Might's secret. If he catches onto it, or that your DNA was in the hands of those League bastards...you know it'll be crap, right?"
"Of course I do..." The girl looked up ahead and then smiled, nudging him playfully. "Look at you, worrying about me like this."
"I am not!" He yelled with a slight blush on his face. "It's because you'd probably let something slip!"
"Sure," She giggled at his reaction.
Taneo saw the cat from earlier and bent down to it. He watched the cat scamper away with a small smile.
"It took some schmoozing, but you're good to go," The editor-in-chief reported to Taneo, who stood on the rooftop of a building. "You've got permission to talk to the class, but what's your plan when you get there?"
"I can narrow the roster down if I think about who All Might would consider worthy of his mantel. And whether or not that girl he fought with really is going to be a new symbol. The most likely group is the seven who made it to the finals in the Sports Festival. I'll start my investigation by looking at them."
On his computer, he had pictures of Shoto, Katsuki, Fumikage, Tenya, Eijiro, and the twins. He then leaned back, crossing his arms. Although, I think I've got a good idea who it could be. It's simple, really. Katsuki Bakugo's abilities are certainly on par with those of pro heroes, but in middle school he declared he would surpass All Might. That makes it difficult to imagine him as the successor.
Katsuki walked by Eijiro and Denki, huffing a little.
Shoto Todoroki was the runner-up at the Sports Festival. Shoto was talking to Izuka about his visits with his mom and she listened with an encouraging smile. But his father is the number-two hero, Endeavor. I don't see that man letting his son surpass him.
Izuka smiled again at Shoto, and then he asked to see her sketchbook, which she did. Then there's Izuka Midoriya. I'll admit that on the surface, she doesn't seem like much, but she does carry a lot of power once she uses it. However, if my theory about her being her own symbol is true, then it wouldn't make sense to make her a successor at the same time. All Might would want her to take his old title, not a new one. And if it's not true, it's possible she knows who it is.
"Check, with the rock," Fumikage put down his piece on the board. Mezo facepalmed himself at losing.
That leaves third-place winners Fumikage Tokoyami or Tenya Ida. Or maybe Eijiro Kirishima. No... He looked outside towards Izuku himself training. I trust my instincts. They've gotten me many scoops. I think...it's Izuku Midoriya. Which makes even more sense that his sister would know the choosing of the successor. Given how close they are, there's no way he wouldn't tell her.
Izuku looked up to see Toshinori approaching with a bag and an umbrella. "Hey," He gave a small smile at the boy.
"It's good to see you!" Izuku smiled brightly at him. "I'll text Izuka to come out," He pulled out his phone.
My gut says he's the one. He will be the next Symbol of Peace. Which further proves All Might's intention to make Izuka her own symbol.
Izuka looked at her phone and then excused herself to Shoto. He nodded in understanding and she ran over to the entrance. She opened the door and smiled at her mentor. "Mr. All Might! I'm glad you stopped by," She greeted with a smile.
My gut with his sister tells me two things. One, that she was in the know the whole time. And two, that if her brother will be the next Symbol of Peace, there's no way he'd take on that title without thinking of her own path. They're not the type to leave the other in the dust.
"What have you been up to out in this rain?" Izuku asked their mentor curiously.
"Not that we're not happy to see you, but it's kind of been a crazy day today," Izuka gave a small awkward smile.
He let out a cough. "Nothin' much, I just got back from a regular checkup at the hospital. I was starving afterward, so I stopped to grab a bite. Which turned into a whole thing."
"I can't believe you're in my store!" The employee cried out, having a bunch of All Might posters everywhere inside. "You've inspired me so much, All Might!" He held Toshinori's shoulders, shaking him wildly. "Seriously, there's never gonna be another Pro Hero like you! It's such a tragedy that you retired," He continued crying, covering his eyes with his arm. "Are you hungry? Here, take some meat buns! A-and this umbrella, too!"
"Wow. Thanks," Toshinori replied, feeling a little awkward.
He then took a bite out of a meat bun. "So, anyway. I brought the extra buns for your class," He held out the bag he was holding on the way to them.
"Of course you did," Izuku smiled while taking the bag. Izuka smiled as she could smell them, they were still fresh. "Always thinking of others, huh? With how popular you are, I'm surprised you're not mobbed everywhere you go. As the number one hero, you brought hope and smiles to so many people's lives. Protecting citizens and fighting against evil villains. The Symbol of Peace," He gave a small smile of admiration.
"It's honestly still hitting me that I was with you out there. And that people still don't like what happened," Izuka rubbed her arm awkwardly. "On top of being a part of the Sports Festival, I've been in two televised events. Although Mr. Aizawa wants me to not stand out as much as I have," She gave a sheepish smile. "But...as a new symbol, I'm not sure I can live up to what you did, Mr. All Might."
He then placed his hands on their shoulders, causing them to look up. "Now it's your turn," He reminded them both. "You both and the rest of your class."
"Right," Izuku nodded with a smile as the sky cleared up above them.
"We won't let you down!" Izuka smiled, pumping her fists.
"I'm getting you both back on an intense training regimen tomorrow."
"Yes! We're ready!" Izuku exclaimed in determination.
Toshinori then walked away from them while rolling up his umbrella. The twins watched him leave, Izuka waving to the man. Taneo suddenly walked up between them.
"Getting late," He spoke up, getting their attention. Thankfully, Izuka wasn't alone, but she was still wary of his intentions as well. After all, Katsuki didn't warn her for no reason. "Squeezing in one last workout?"
"Oh, uh, yes," Izuku stammered a little.
"I...came here to cheer him on," Izuka coughed a bit, since Toshinori was the only reason she was called outside.
"Huh. Something smells good," Taneo sniffed the meat buns.
"Yeah. They're meat buns," Izuku held out the bag to him. "Do you want one?"
"Yes, please!" He smiled gratefully to the two.
The grass started to dry out as they all sat together. "Whoa, really?" Izuku looked at the man in surprise as he ate his meat bun. Izuka held the bag tight. "So you're a huge All Might fan too, Mr. Tokuda?"
"Ha," He gave a small laugh. "Anyone my age who says they aren't is totally lying. That, or they're criminals. I've never seen anyone so cool. Or so powerful." The twins smiled a little up at the man; it wasn't hard to see why everyone loved All Might like Izuku did growing up. Izuka admired him, but it wasn't on his level, especially not to the point of decorating her dorm room with his merchandise. "Do you know about the bombing that took place at an industrial complex 18 years ago?"
"Yeah, of course I do!" Izuku grinned up at him. "It was really terrible, but All Might managed to rescue the 24 people who were working there when the explosion went off."
"It was all he could talk about for a week once he found out," Izuka giggled a little in amusement, earning a pout from her brother.
"Izuka!" He whined, looking away with a small blush. "I know that I can fanboy too much sometimes, so you're not wrong..."
"My dad was one of them," Taneo revealed to the two. "All Might saved my father's life." They looked towards him with small gasps.
The fire from the explosion continued, and Taneo as a kid looked up ahead all alone. "The blaze was so bad that even the rescue squads couldn't get close." The tears didn't stop as he looked up ahead. "And yet..."
"Fear not, citizens!" All Might's voice boomed, causing Taneo to gasp. "Hope has arrived!" He flew down from the sky, landing while carrying some people. He then released a bunch of wind, standing near the flames. "Because I am here!"
Taneo's tears flew from his face as he ran up to the hero and his father. "DADDY!" He cried out in relief.
"I turned my camera on without thinking," Taneo explained as his Quirk managed to snap a photo of All Might with his father. "And the picture I took ended up in the paper. It seemed like a miracle my father was rescued. Seeing All Might that night brought a spark to my life. One that I still carry with me," He closed his eyes fondly. After that day, he wanted to become a journalist because All Might inspired him.
"Yeah. I get what you mean," Izuku agreed with the man.
"He just brings that out in people," Izuka gave a small fond smile.
"Heh. So when I heard he was retiring, I was completely shocked," He confessed as the sun came out to shine on them. "What will happen to our superhuman society in the future? Will we be...okay?"
We understand. People are starting to worry about what happens next. There's a feeling of unease that's starting to permeate our world.
It's hard to ignore, and nowadays, when people talk about heroes...it's more with hesitance and doubt than admiration. And it's not helped with the League of Villains always bringing about these controversial topics...about whether or not heroes can really help others.
This reporter feels it. We have to work harder to make sure we use our Quirks the best we can.
Even if I'm still wary about him, I couldn't ignore what he was bringing up. But that's why us students need to do our best to become great heroes in the future.
"Midoriyas?" Taneo spoke up, breaking the silence.
"Yes?" Izuku turned to him.
"What is it?" Izuka blinked towards the man.
"We still have hope," He started off, confusing the two. He pulled something out...revealing a picture of Toshinori with the twins from minutes ago. "It's your turn."
Izuka gasped sharply, wondering if he was putting the pieces together. "What?! A picture?" Izuku asked in a panic, looking around. Taneo was the only one who showed up, so there wasn't a hidden camera crew or anything like that. "But I don't see a camera! And how'd you print it anyway?"
"It turns out my Quirk is a pretty handy one to have when you work in journalism," Taneo smiled as he handed it over, and then gave Izuka a copy as well. He held out his hand, and the lens of a camera popped out from it. The two stared at it in shock.
"Oh, look at that! So cool!" Izuku blinked rapidly and then more appeared from Taneo's arms.
"Ah! You can make more, Mr. Tokuda?!" Izuka looked at them with wide eyes.
"I can produce them everywhere," He revealed to the twins, smiling as one was even on his face.
Freelance journalist, Taneo Tokuda. His Quirk: Whole-Body Lens! He can sprout lenses anywhere on his body. He can even print pics from his chest. No wonder he ends up with so many scoops!
"By the way, I have to say, that Bakugo is pretty different around you," He pointed at Izuka, revealing a picture of Katsuki and Izuka walking underneath an umbrella together. Izuka froze in shock, her whole face going red as he gave it to Izuku.
"Oh, wow! You and Kacchan look so natural here!" He admired, embarrassing her even further. "Was this from earlier? He even let you walk beside him! He must really respect you!"
"Put that away!" She whined as she covered her red face, Taneo chuckling and standing up.
"Everybody heard All Might's last words after the Kamino incident," He pointed out, and Izuka blinked, looking up at him.
"Now, it's your turn..."
"And I think...that he was saying that to you," Taneo pointed down at Izuku specifically. He already knew it wasn't for Izuka because she was unconscious at the time. The two stood up in alarm, Izuka's eyes shaking in a bit of fear. "My investigation found plenty of similarities between you two. The Quirk you manifested is a power type like his. And in middle school, you both tried to rescue Bakugo when he was captured by a villain, despite the odds. And despite Izuka never using her Quirk up until that point. All Might was the one who saved you all that day. And after you two enrolled at UA High at the same time, he became a teacher here. On the other side of things, on the surface Izuka and All Might don't seem alike at all. She wasn't as brave, headstrong, or willing to fight. But after he started teaching, she went through noticeable changes into the girl I'm seeing today. And since she's your little sister...she was there every step of the way."
Oh no... Izuka gulped towards the reporter, so nervous that she didn't even bother correcting him about her age. Don't tell me...
"I visited the Pussycats' agency," He revealed to them. "I met Kota there."
"You talked to him?" Izuku looked at him wide-eyed.
"That's when my suspicions were truly confirmed. Izuku Midoriya. I believe you are All Might's successor. And the fact that Izuka was one of the victims who was kidnapped...I believe that she is a new symbol that All Might has created."
They looked up at him nervously for his assessment as he looked at them with a serious expression.
"What do you think about that?" He asked the twins as they hadn't responded to this.
Izuka turned away from him, biting her lip. "Umm..."
"Oh," Izuku looked away, the girl rubbing the back of her neck. "Well I, uh. The thing is-"
"You can't lie, can ya?" He interrupted with a small smile. "That's good. After all, heroes speak the truth."
"Huh?" The boy looked up in confusion as Izuka blinked slowly.
"Hey, everyone," Momo walked over to Tsuyu and Ochaco. "Dinner's ready. It's time to eat."
"Gather together quickly," Tenya ordered, waving a rapid hand.
"Come on, Ochaco," Tsuyu got onto her feet.
"I'll go see if Deku is still outside training with Izuka," She stood up as well, looking out the window. She then gasped as she could see the twins with Taneo. "Huh. I wonder what they're talking about."
"It's just that...I..."
"You don't have to worry, kids," Taneo interrupted the boy. "I'm not writing an expose, even if I did have evidence. To be honest, I should probably be apologizing to you. You see, I was never planning to report on dorm life."
The two gasped from hearing him admit this. "You...you weren't, Mr. Tokuda?" Izuka asked a bit hesitantly.
"I apologize. But...I just had to know. That there's still light in this world."
"Mr. Tokuda..." Izuku murmured softly and he looked up towards the sky.
"I feel better. After our conversation here," Taneo gave a relieved smile. "And now I can encourage others. I won't be lying when I write that there's still hope in the world, even if All Might has retired." Izuka looked up towards the rainbow and smiled towards it. He then turned to them, holding out his hand. "I'm sorry if I caused you any stress. But...thank you."
"Sure," Izuku smiled back up at him.
"Oh...we should be the ones thanking you, honestly," Izuka gave a soft smile and then realized something, yelping in alarm. "Wait a minute, you called me his little sister?! I'm the older one!"
"Oh. My apologies," Taneo gave them an awkward look while staring at them. "It's just that...well."
"It's called being a late bloomer!" She cried out while looking a bit annoyed, pouting. Izuku gave her an awkward laugh, rubbing his neck.
"One more thing," He then summoned a camera, grabbing their arms. Ochaco gasped as Taneo snapped a photo with the twins as they looked flustered.
"Um. That's weird," Ochaco pressed her face to the window. Momo just stared at her.
"And here," Taneo gave Izuka another picture, and she blinked in confusion to see it was the rainbow they just saw.
"Huh? But why-"
"I know an artist when I see one. It's the shoes. That, and I had a good feeling after I saw him that it's what you interrupted your classmate Kaminari about," He smiled down at her sneakers and she yelped in embarrassment, as she forgot that she had done them herself with icons to represent her class... "I'm gonna cherish this picture," He walked away from the building. "I'll keep it under wraps until later. When I publish my book about you both. I think I even settled on a good title. When the New Symbols of Peace and Light Were Young. What do you think?"
"We'll try our best," Izuku gave him a small smile. "And we'll live up to those names."
"Although when we do earn them, I'd rather you take new photos..." Izuka murmured bashfully with a nervous laugh.
"I'm sure you will. Heroes," He gave them a small wave.
"Oh. Mr. Tokuda!" Izuka called out after him and he looked over his shoulder to see her smiling. "If we ever meet again...call me Mido, okay? That's what my class calls me."
"Sure thing," He nodded with a small smile.
"Thanks!" Izuku yelled after the man.
"Bye bye!" Izuka waved as they watched him leave. Mr. Aizawa was looking out the window as he was watching the reporter with the twins as well. He then left the window as Izuku was bowing his head.
It was the end of the time he'd been allotted, and Mr. Tokuda left without telling anyone else in my class goodbye. After hearing what he had to say, I once again felt just how big a responsibility I'd inherited.
Maybe it was for the best he didn't say goodbye to anyone else. They probably didn't even realize he was gone. And after listening to him...it hit me much more this time that I have a lot to live up to if I wanted to become a symbol.
But...even so...
Ochaco opened the door, peeking outside. "Hey Deku, Mido, are you on your way in for dinner?"
"Oh, sorry! We're coming!"
"We didn't mean to keep you guys waiting!" Izuka ran up to her friend.
"By the way...what was that reporter talking to you two about just now?" She asked the two curiously.
"Uh. Well. He was asking us..."
Ochaco sniffed something before he could elaborate. "Something smells super good."
"Uh. Yeah," Izuku looked up at her with a small blush on his face. "All Might brought by some snacks for everyone earlier. I almost forgot about them."
"I hope they're still warm," Izuka glanced down at the bag she was holding.
"What are they?" Ochaco looked at the bag with intrigue.
"Meat buns."
"Seriously?!" She looked up at the twins happily. "Let's get 'em on the table before they get cold!"
"Good idea," Izuku agreed as the shorter girl smiled, placing the picture of the rainbow gently into her pocket.
"We'll have to remember to thank him the next time he teaches us," She stated as they walked into the dorm building.
"You guys! All Might got us a yummy surprise!" Ochaco called out once they were inside.
"Awesome!" Most of them exclaimed happily to hear it.
"There's my favorite reporter," The editor-in-chief sung a little at Juko News the next day. She and the other two employees were looking at Taneo in excitement. "So spill! Did you find out who All Might's successor's gonna be? And whether or not that Midoriya girl is the next new symbol?!"
"Apologies," He stated sheepishly, to their confusion. "It turns out I jumped to the wrong conclusions."
They all sighed, falling onto the table in disappointment. "So it was a waste of time, then? Do you have any idea how much begging I had to do get permission for you to go up there?!"
Taneo bowed his head to her. "I'm very sorry about it, Chief. I know this doesn't make up for it. But I didn't come back empty handed," He dug into his pocket, revealing a picture of Toshinori eating a meat bun. "See, here's All Might buying and eating a meat bun."
"A candid!" Her eyes shined as she grabbed the picture happily. "So cute! Well done! I never doubted you! You always pull through!"
"Much obliged," He rubbed the back of his neck bashfully. Sorry 'bout that...
Toshinori then let out a sneeze in the teachers' lounge.
All Might.
Mr. Aizawa was standing nearby. "A summer cold? Better not get me sick."
"Oh," Toshinori turned to him. "Wouldn't dream of it," He then blew out his nose with a tissue. "I'll be fine," He looked up with a small smile.
The vague sense of unease from All Might's retirement grew stronger. A car drove down the road. Soon, it would manifest in ways we couldn't imagine...and become something truly terrifying.
The seeds were being planted as we speak...because while we were still training now that most of our class had their provisional hero licenses...it was time for some of our classmates to utilize them in situations we would be thrusted in.
Twice was the one driving, with Overhaul in the back seat...
Izuka's phone went off just as she came back from the shower, drying her wet hair. She picked it up to see Katsuki's name and she sighed a little with a small smile on her face. She answered it and put the phone to her ear. "Hello?"
"Is that reporter guy gone?"
"Yes, he left during dinner time," She hummed as she closed the door, stretching an arm and yawning a little. "I hope he got some good candid shots."
"He was too close for my liking," He grunted, earning a small grin. "You didn't say anything about the secret, did you?"
"Katsuki, come on," She pouted as she put her towel down. "I can keep a secret, why are you gunning for me about this and not my brother? Haven't I been through enough...?"
"If you can't handle today, then you won't be able to handle stuff like that in the future," He pointed out and she blinked, realizing he had a point. "And besides, you let Deku tell me your secret back when we started UA. So don't let him say anything this time around."
"Fair..." She mumbled as she sat on her bed. "And...thank you for looking out for me."
From his end, he flinched as a small blush came to his face, a light breath escaping from him. He then masked it by gritting his teeth. "Drop dead! I could care less what happens to you!" He yelled into the phone, causing her to move it away from her ear. But she had a smile on her face anyway.
It's a nice feeling to know that deep down, he does think of me as someone other than just being Izuku's sister.
