Angel: I don't think Kirishima ever realized that the twins were the ones who faced off that sludge villain. Maybe the news just didn't name them and only named Katsuki, because All Might came and overtook the rescue. That's my interpretation of it. If the twins were named, then their classmates would've recognized them from that incident. Because I don't think any UA students ever brought their names up about the sludge villain incident.
More people hoping Izuka doesn't join the Overhaul fight? Well, I hope people stop bringing that up to me. I've already said no matter what she does, that it was my say in it, because it is my right to make whatever story decision I want as the sole author. I'm not getting into this discussion about it again. And I would kindly not want to hear people's reasoning for why Izuka would do...honestly, anything in this story. Not because I'm being arrogant or trying to not validate opinions, but because I've been down this road too many uncomfortable times. And I'd rather safely stay out of it.
Have I started working on season 6? I WISH XD I am still on the third movie, but I should be done with it by next week. It took up...a lot more time than the previous two movies, more than I expected. I tackle movies typically after a season, Heroes Rising was the only exception as I wrote that while I was still writing/editing season 5. Although the fourth movie is during season 7, and I still haven't watched it yet, so. OVAs, I have finished them all, and I think only 4 of them I did after a season. The last 5...mostly during writing seasons 3 and 5.
"Finally. We've succeeded," Chrono spoke up to Overhaul.
"Yes," He was holding something in his hand. "A permanent version of the drug." And when Tamaki used it, it wasn't permanent that he lost his Quirk, but it was what they wanted. Because it was still progress. "We finally figured out how to preserve Eri's power. With this, we can completely annihilate a Quirk," He opened up the box to reveal five more Quirk-erasing drugs. He held it up to his eyes. "It's a cure. Now we can fix this world."
"But the process is expensive and takes far too long," Chrono reminded his boss. "Took us an entire month to create five bullets."
"Because we're doing it ourselves, down here. I'll find a more suitable environment," They were surrounded by waste because currently, they didn't have a permanent space to create the drugs. "Now's our chance. With All for One gone...we don't have time to waste," He then closed the box.
"My name's Toga and I was told I had to come here," Himiko introduced herself with little enthusiasm, as she made no effort to hide that she didn't want to be there. The memory of Magne getting killed by Overhaul was still fresh in her mind. And it was something that she would never overlook. "Hiya."
"Long time no see, birdman," Twice spoke up next with a small glare. "Be warned. I'll never forgive you. So happy to be on the team!"
"Wonderful," Overhaul was surrounded by the Eight Bullets of the Hassaikai, Chrono, and Mimic.
"The League of Villains?" Rappa had the urge to fight the both of them. "This is perfect. Let's brawl!"
"I'll kill you," Twice declared to him, even though he would probably lose.
"Yeah, no thanks," Himiko replied in disinterest.
Overhaul then scratched the side of his head, knowing that he had to get some tension addressed given what happened the last time he saw them. If he was going to have them on their team, he wanted things to go smoothly. "Sorry about the whole Magne thing. It's unfortunate. I didn't wanna kill him."
"You mean her," Twice corrected the Hassaikai boss with crossed arms.
"Don't make that mistake again," Himiko threatened as there was a shadow over her eyes.
"...Anyway," He closed his eyes as he essentially ignored their remarks, but didn't make any comments regarding Magne. Which was probably for the best. "This is no time to be holding grudges against each other. We're on the same team now. I want your help with my plan."
"Bastard," Twice was shaking a little, as he was still a bit hesitant to be here. "You tried to play it cool the first time we met too! Like you don't care about anything!" He then looked towards Overhaul with no malice whatsoever. "So, what are my orders?"
"Just follow my instructions like everyone else in the organization. But first things first. I want the details of your Quirks. It'll be easier for us to work together if I fully understand what you can do," He gestured to the two.
"I think I'll tell you about my powers when you need to know about them," Himiko retorted back; if he already killed one of their own, she certainly wasn't going to tell him about her power. She didn't want him knowing all the details if he could use them to his advantage. Shigaraki and the others she trusted far more with that information, and she didn't trust any of the Hassaikai. Just because she was on the same team as them didn't mean that they were automatically on that same level of trust. "Oh, and just so we're clear: I still don't like you people."
"So much for making a good impression," Mimic looked up at her wide-eyed. "Don't underestimate the yakuza!" He then let out a yell towards them, and they just glared at him in return.
"I agree with Toga," Twice stated, waving a hand. "We'll tell you when we feel like it. Won't get nothing outta me. No way. My lips are sealed," He then shook his head rapidly in denial. Overhaul didn't seem too bothered by this.
"What is your Quirk?" Nemoto asked him this time. There was a radio wave coming from him and suddenly Twice froze.
"I can make doubles of anything," Twice then started explaining without any protest. "For it to work, I need a precise image in my head. Yup! That means height, chest measurement, and shoe size if it's a person, you name it, I need it. Gotta have as much info as possible. Only then can I make a thing into two. The main difference between the doubles and the real thing is durability. They just kinda melt if they're knocked around too much. I can make doubles of up to two things at once. The damage the second object can take is even lower. Also, for personal reasons, I refuse to make copies of myself. Got it?"
He moved away his measuring tape, Himiko staring at him in silence. He then stared at her and after a few seconds realized that he just let it slip. "Huh?! What just happened? It's like I couldn't stop the words from coming."
"Wow, that was pretty stupid," Himiko deadpanned towards her companion.
"It wasn't me, Toga, I swear!" He yelped towards her, as it felt like something in him told him to explain.
"And you?" Nemoto asked Himiko this time.
"If I drink someone's blood, I can turn into them," She said, just like Twice despite the earlier protest. "Whatever I take in turns into energy, so the more I drink, the longer I can hold onto the form. One cup lets me look and sound like someone for about a day," She pointed to herself, grinning. "Plus, if I drink a buncha different people's blood at the same time, I can turn into any of them! I can recreate their clothes, too. But they get layered under my own, so it helps to get naked before I transform. Which can be a little embarrassing sometimes." She then looked up at Twice wide-eyed and he gave her a 'I told you so' look. She then looked towards the Hassaikai in shock.
"See?" Her companion wondered as now she knew what it was like for him.
"One more thing," Nemoto spoke up yet again. "Did Shigaraki say anything about betraying us?"
Both of them faltered as in a sense, he did, but there was no way they were telling the group that. "Nope!"
"No!"
"Okay then," Overhaul closed his eyes as he was satisfied with their answers. "I'll accept you as members of the Hassaikai now," He got onto his feet, hands in his pockets. "But wanted criminals like you need to stay out of sight." He then turned around to leave the room. Himiko stared after him with a pout. "Unless I say otherwise, don't leave the underground facilities."
Twice flinched upon hearing these instructions. "House arrest?!"
"Aww," Himiko whined a little. "That sounds super lame!"
"Once I trust you a little more, you can do what you want," He responded while standing in the doorway. "But you'll have to prove yourselves," He then silently shut the door behind him.
Mimic approached the two new members. "You'd better fix those attitudes if you wanna be taken seriously," He warned the both of them. Like Himiko and Twice, he wasn't too keen on the new members either already. He didn't like how they were disrespecting Overhaul, but there was also nothing he could do about it. "For us to accept you, you gotta follow orders, brats! We're yakuza, not some back-alley thugs. You two got it?"
The two didn't respond since they thought he was the one being the brat, not them. And they couldn't take him seriously either because of his height. On top of that, they didn't want to prove themselves, but at some point they knew that they had to for the sake of Shigaraki's orders. That was the only reason they were still going along with all this. "Pretty soon, we'll be controlling society again from the shadows. The complete resurrection of the Shie Hassaikai. I bet the boss'll even get out of his sickbed when he hears the news. And you can be a part of it!" He pointed up at the two, his eyes looking crazed. "As long as you're properly grateful and do as you're told!"
After recalling this, he was pissed that the two were bad-mouthing the bedridden leader. He should've known that they weren't in any way trustworthy towards their organization. "I will not forgive anyone who disgraces the way of the yakuza!" He shouted as he saw Twice and Himiko mocking their group. "Crush them all to death!" He let out a roar as he caved in the floors, causing the two to slide down deep into the underground.
"Wimps like you always have shortest tempers," Himiko belittled to him with a smile. "You get all mad and show what losers you are." We don't have the power to face them all now.
We'll just leave it up to the heroes to deal with them Twice thought; that way, they wouldn't die, and they wouldn't have to lift a finger to see the Hassaikai fall on their own. At the end of the day, they didn't care. In fact, they were enjoying pissing off the yakuza member and causing all this chaos. Mimic was yelling as the twins looked around in alarm. Mr. Aizawa was helping up the injured Locklock.
"That yell! You two heard it, right?" He called out to the two, but they didn't respond.
Izuku looked up at the ceiling as Mimic kept going out of control. The voice must belong to Irinaka. As soon as I heard it, everything started to move. Where is he? He looked around while trying to pinpoint the voice. Mimic let out another yell, but it was too large to really get a feel of where he was. There's too much of an echo to pinpoint him.
When I faced him earlier, it was in a smaller area, so that's how I was able to figure out how to stop him temporarily. Because it was easier to tell his movements in an enclosed space rather than a big hallway. But right now, he could be anywhere. Even if I could sense him, I can't use my teleportation anymore to find him Izuka gritted her teeth while looking around. Damn it! How are we gonna defeat him when we can't even tell where he is?
"If we don't stop this, we're going to be crushed!" The head detective warned everyone. A police officer cried out from all of the chaos.
"I get it," Himiko spoke up while dodging Mimic's power. "You wanna hide how weak you are from the rest of the world. You look down on other people because you think it makes you look stronger," She looked up towards a tunnel in the ceiling. "So lame. That's the yakuza for ya."
Mimic's eyes appeared in the tunnel as he let out a growl. He then let out another angry yell, and the twins heard it more clearly. Izuka closed her eyes as she listened closely and then could feel a presence nearby. She gasped as she looked up, and Izuku did too towards the tunnel. He grabbed his sister's arm and pulled her onto his back.
One for All, Full Cowling! He zipped around some of the structures, and she squeezed her eyes shut as she braced herself. "Point upwards and shoot!" Izuku shouted to his sister and she raised her arm right above his head. Smash! As he kicked, Izuka flicked a shooting star upwards without him having to tell her at all, her hair flying. Together they exploded the ceiling, rocks flying past them. Mimic gave a sharp gasp for them being able to detect where he was. Mr. Aizawa looked up once he saw Mimic's body, freezing everything around them. Part of the ceiling moved away to reveal Mimic's body encased in rock.
What? My Quirk! The rocks then fell off and he started to descend towards the ground.
"Sorry, yakuza~" Twice called out, although he didn't regret it. "I think we'll do what we want after all." As Mimic fell, he saw the two sitting on the rocks, but they made no effort to hide their presence. They were just happy for what they did.
"Later!" They both waved to him while enjoying seeing his defeat.
The twins flinched as they noticed the two villains first. "The League of Villains!"
"Why are they here?" Izuka looked at them wide-eyed while hanging onto her brother.
"You'll pay-" A seal suddenly fell in, hitting Mimic in the neck to knock him out in mid-air.
"Catch him!" Sir Nighteye revealed himself to the twins, as he was the one who had stepped in. Izuku blinked but then narrowed his eyes.
"Can you make a platform?" He glanced up at Izuka, who nodded sharply.
"You can count on me!" She then let go of him so that he could swoop in and catch Mimic. Izuka soared in from behind to create a small enough star platform for her brother to land on. He jumped off of it as she landed on the star before jumping off of it herself, landing next to him. Izuku's energy was still coming off of him while Mr. Aizawa looked towards the rocks, as Twice and Himiko were now gone. Izuka's star platform completely disappeared.
"The League betrayed them?" He murmured in a bit of confusion.
"Seems so," Sir Nighteye pushed up his glasses. "And they used us to aid in their scheming. Though at least we're on solid ground now." Some police officers got injured during the scuffle, though. The twins looked up ahead as their pathway was almost blocked off. And they had no idea where they were in terms of distance to Eri, Overhaul, or Mirio now...
Eri. Togata...
Izuka bit her lip towards all the pillars and barriers up ahead. Thanks to Mimic messing up their route nonstop, finding their target was now near impossible since they were way off the path that they were supposed to be taking. And she unfortunately still couldn't use her teleportation to find them either because her limit was peaking at this point. She clenched a fist angrily at not being able to help the team out in finding them. I can't believe I rendered myself to be useless here. Irinaka accomplished that at least, the bastard. But I really hope he hasn't lost them...please, Togata-San, you have to reach Eri! Until we find a way out of here, you're her only hope. Please keep her safe until we find you...so that I can properly meet her.
Mirio glared up ahead, a look not usually seen on him, but he had his reasons. "Excuse me, gentlemen," He was catching his breath, sweat dripping down his face. "But we...need to talk. You've got some explaining to do." Overhaul and Chrono looked over their shoulders as the boy was only a few feet away from them. "Why don't we have a chat about Eri?"
"You shouldn't have been able to get here so fast," Overhaul commented, although part of it was simply because he didn't know Mirio's Quirk.
"I took a shortcut," He finally caught his breath, his eyes fierce. And he was glad that he thought of it, otherwise he wouldn't have gotten that far. "Give me the girl. I'm here to rescue her."
Overhaul closed his eyes, unfazed by this. "Now that you know the situation, you've decided to play hero, eh schoolboy?" He mocked the blond student, opening his eyes as he remembered the last time he saw Mirio weeks ago.
"Right! Well, we're still pretty new," Mirio smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. "But you probably already guessed that much." Eri immediately jumped out of Izuku's arms, panting while running after Overhaul. He kept his hand on his glove just in case.
"You were happy being ignorant when we first met," Overhaul pointed out, and it only made Mirio's guilt grow. "Unfortunately for you, this girl didn't wanna come with you. You're no hero to her." Eri peeked from behind Chrono's mask, her eyebrows furrowed as she had a small frown on her face. She also remembered that interaction...so she didn't know what to think of him coming back to save her. Or to even believe that he could rescue her because she had seen what Overhaul had done multiple times to think otherwise.
Mirio gave a small pause as he could see the look in her eyes. "That's why I'm here," He simply said to the villains.
"I'm not gettin' through to you," Overhaul sighed a little; part of him didn't want to point out the inevitable to Mirio. So he wasn't going to put up much of a fight right now. "Allow me to be clearer," He turned to the side. Mirio gritted his teeth and leaped into the air, heading towards the two of them. "You're going to die down here."
Suddenly, Mirio felt dizzy for some reason and he fell in front of a wall. What's happening to my body? He grunted as he felt like he couldn't get back up. It was like he was going through the symptoms of a drug even though he wasn't hit with one. If that was the case, he would've felt the impact. He squinted while gritting his teeth, trying to keep it together, but it was hard. My balance is all off.
A new voice then laughed upon seeing this from him. "You feelin' sloshed?" Mirio looked up with his mouth open. Hanging upside down from the ceiling the entire time was a guy drinking a whole bottle of wine. The contents were even dripping from his mouth. "Your legs look shaky an' you're swaying. I feel the same. That's why I'm walkin' up 'ere." The liquid then fell close to Mirio's foot. "Stand too close to me..."
Mirio looked up knowingly as he could deduce what happened. Okay. It's this guy's Quirk. Eri's still right in front of me. I've just gotta get past him and-
A gun was held up in front of him. He flinched in alarm and then jumped to the side as someone fired straight at him. He landed on his side as another bullet was fired, revealing it to be from another member from the Eight Bullets.
"What is your Quirk?" He demanded of the boy. Just like with Twice and Himiko, a purple wave came from him.
"Permeation," Mirio answered, unable to stop himself in the exact same way as the two villains. "When activated, I can pass through anything!" He gasped and then covered his mouth, but it was already too late at that point. Why'd I tell him that?
The member from the ceiling crawled all the way over to the one with the gun. "I see. That explains how you made it this way so quickly. You used your power to slip past Mimic and the others," The one with the gun guessed correctly.
"You missed him?" His comrade mocked from up above. "Stupid. What're you, drunk?" He tossed his bottle of wine at his partner, who then proceeded to knock it to the ground without even flinching.
"That would be you," The one with the gun retorted back.
"Ya think?" The one on the ceiling remarked, staring at Mirio.
"I suggest you stay silent and support your superior teammate," He warned his partner, although if he wasn't drunk, then he wouldn't be able to.
From the Eight Bullets of the Hassai Group, Shin Nemoto! Quirk: Confession! He can force people to tell the truth if he asks them a question. Occasionally, he can even drag out a truth the person talking doesn't know about!
Also from the Eight Bullets, Deidoro Sakaki! Quirk: Sloshed! He causes those around him to lose their equilibrium.
Nemoto was the one with the gun, and Sakaki was the one who was drunk. Either he was an alcoholic, or his Quirk depended on him getting drunk for it to work. "I get it," Mirio stated while getting onto his feet. Although he was still off balance, and he stumbled to the side. "Your power must've forced me to tell the truth somehow..." He used the wall to support himself. "And they put someone like you on the front lines? Weird."
"That's true," Nemoto agreed with him, since it wasn't really a physical Quirk compared to his opponent. In fact, he knew that Mirio would probably snap him in half if he wasn't disoriented right about now. "I am in a different class compared to the dispensable pawns in this organization. I'm the only one who fully understands the young boss' ambition," He then fired two more times at Mirio, who used his Quirk to make them go past his body. So therefore, he didn't actually get hit.
He looked up at Nemoto in disgust for actually siding with Overhaul. He couldn't understand how even a villain would be okay with experimenting on a little girl for their own goals. Not even the heroes or the students could handle hearing about it, Izuka straight up cried. And yet Nemoto did not even care. "He's torturing his own daughter, and you call that ambition?"
"...Hm?" Nemoto stared at him for a few seconds, as if he didn't know what Mirio was talking about. "Aw. It would be wise for you to leave your feelings out of this. Don't you know they'll only get you in trouble?" Mirio gritted his teeth towards the villain in silence. "When you first met Eri in the street. You let her return with the boss. Correct?" He used his Quirk on Mirio once again.
"Yeah, I did," His eyes saddened at having to reveal it all over again, knowing that this was going to be used against him by Nemoto.
"And then you found out what our plan was and regretted abandoning her. That's why you've come to rescue the child. You're no hero. You're just trying to soothe your own conscience, remember?" His body is already swaying thanks to Sakaki. Now to hit him where it hurts. Make him question what he's fighting for. If I can make him lose focus, it's all over.
Mirio was once again trying to keep it in, to not let the villains get to him. He wasn't doing it just to make himself feel better. It was because...he didn't want that little girl to suffer anymore. The regret of letting her go was going to stick with him, but the fact that they were using that to their advantage was pissing him off...
"I live for the young boss' ambition!" Nemoto glanced at Overhaul, Eri, and Chrono leaving. "He needs me! I'm his right hand! His most valued assistant! We'll share such joy when his plans come to fruition!" He then turned around to Mirio.
"Now!" Sakaki shouted while throwing his knives towards Mirio.
"Die, you nuisance!" Nemoto pointed his gun at the boy, firing. Both projectiles headed towards him, but he managed to dodge the both of them by moving his head to the side. He then held his breath as he stuck his head into the wall to phase through, shocking them both. He zipped around the walls, knocking around Sakaki.
Ultimate move He then swung his arm forward to hit Nemoto. Phantom Threat! Both Nemoto and Sakaki were unable to attack, flying in mid-air. He's right. I am weak. I've been carrying around the guilt of letting Eri go. I acted unforgivably in front of that little girl. But despite that, rather than see us get hurt. She chose to return to that hell! She's kinder than any one of us! He looked up fiercely as this was something no villain could understand, not even Overhaul himself. He couldn't help but respect Eri's bravery to suffer once again just to save the lives of people she didn't even know. Even though Mirio was trying to get himself and Izuku out of the situation, and didn't know what she was going through at the time. And despite the look she gave him...he knew that deep down, she didn't want to see him die today. That's why I chased after her. And why I won't stop until she's safe.
"No way!" Sakaki exclaimed in disbelief. "How's he still upright?"
"I get a taste of something much worse than your intoxicating Quirk on the regular," Mirio explained while sliding to a stop. It was going to take more than feeling disoriented to stop him.
"You're no hero," Nemoto declared again to try and break their opponent's morale. "You know the truth!"
"I won't waver!" Mirio wasn't affected in the slightest as he let himself fall through the floor. "I'm going to make sure she has a reason to smile. Until she can..." He jumped up into the air. "I won't stop!" He then let out an angry yell as he knocked the two back with multiple hits. "Power!" He then looked up towards Overhaul and Chrono, who were still in his sights thankfully.
Overhaul turned around after hearing him, and saw his two members defeated on the ground. Mirio reappeared right behind the villain, about to swing his arm.
"Chisaki!" He shouted and the man looked back in shock for him being able to still move. He thought that the two would be able to hold him back, but it was the complete opposite. Overhaul ducked just as Mirio moved his arm to attack, to the shock of Eri. He still managed to graze the villain's cheek, however. He then swung his arm to go past Eri's head and into Chrono's face. This was enough force to knock the man backwards and he released the little girl. Mirio turned around and held out his arms to Eri, catching her safe and sound. She was surprised and then tensed up as she knew what was going to come next if he didn't let go.
"Please don't. Go back," Eri pleaded with him; he could leave right now without having to further risk his life. "Leave me! Otherwise he'll kill you!" She couldn't bare to watch it because she knew Overhaul would do it if she wasn't given back to him.
Mirio narrowed his eyes as he held her gently in his arms. "I'm never going to let you down again, Eri. I swear it. I am going to be your hero! And I promise to introduce you to my friend, I know you want to meet her too!"
She gasped as she realized he was talking about Izuka, her eyes shaking. "You...know Izuka?" She murmured quietly; the girl wanted to meet her...to see if she was as kind as Izuku.
"I am going to be your hero!" He repeated and Overhaul dropped his arm. He slowly stood up straight, revealing some acne underneath his left eye, which he already didn't like...
"Filthy..." He hissed at this occurring, and Mirio flinched as he prepared himself. Overhaul then wiped at his face. "Come back, Eri...How many times do I have to tell you? It's your fault. You break people. That's just how you were born. Even if you come across Izuka, you'll break her too! You really think you'll want anything to do with her after that? She won't come for you."
"Go," Eri looked up at Mirio in fear, but he wasn't going to give up on her, not again. "Hurry!"
"Don't listen to him," Mirio snarled as he couldn't hide his disgust with Overhaul's treatment of the little girl. Or his anger of the villain talking about his friend like he knew her when he really didn't. He knew that Eri would love Izuka as someone she could turn to, and he understood why her curiosity about the green-haired girl peaked. "I don't know her as well as her brother or her classmates do, but he's lying about her!"
"You know how this goes," Overhaul warned angrily and Eri looked terrified while staring at him. "I always have to get my hands dirty because of your selfishness." She whimpered, snuggling a little closer to Mirio. Her eyes couldn't stop moving looking at him. Not just because of what she was hearing, but because of the cold look in his eyes. And the moles on his face were increasing. "Every action you take results in people dying. You're a cursed human." She was on the verge of crying, which made Mirio furious. Once again, he couldn't understand why Eri was the one who had to suffer from him. Why Overhaul felt the need to not only torture her, but to belittle her for just existing? How could a father treat his own child so poorly?
"How could you ever say that to your own daughter?!" He screamed at Overhaul.
"Huh?" The way Overhaul asked this seemed like he forgot what he had said to both Mirio and Izuku when he met them. "Oh, right. That's the story I told you," He chuckled as he bent down a little. He then revealed...that he had taken his glove off. And then came in the kicker.
"I don't have any children."
Miro gasped sharply and he didn't have time to process this revelation as the floor crumbled to pieces.
"Quirk: Overhaul," Sir Nighteye explained to the heroes and students at the team conference. "With this power of his, he can disassemble and reassemble anything."
Rocks came flying in from everywhere as Mirio braced himself, holding onto the girl. Overhaul then started to form something using the ground. He's not just reassembling. He's shaping new spikes! The spikes that did form attacked Mirio, and he luckily used his Quirk in time to avoid getting stabbed. He also held up Eri above his head so that she wouldn't get hurt. And he's so fast! He stared towards Overhaul, who looked dead-eyed. "You could've been hurt. But he didn't care," He growled while hugging Eri close to him, having released himself from the spikes.
"Yeah, it wouldn't have been a big deal if she got hurt," Overhaul dismissed as he made the spikes crumble to pieces. He then directed his attack towards the two. Eri squeezed her eyes shut. "If I put her back together immediately, I can revive her. Even if she's not quite the way she was before. Eri already knows what I can do."
Mirio growled angrily as he realized...that was why Eri had bandages. Because it was from the various attempts that she would be disassembled and then put back together. He could assume that when she was put back together...she either wouldn't be put back correctly or her body gained a scar. And he was now more furious than ever.
Overhaul touched the ground with his hand, more spikes growing around the two. He flew past them while Overhaul was surrounded by various structures. "What'll you do if Eri gets injured? Under these conditions, I'm the only one who can heal her," Overhaul reminded the both of them. Mirio then landed safely, gritting his teeth. "I've sealed off your escape. And you won't be able to run away using Permeation while you're holding her."
Mirio glanced behind him, as he wished Overhaul was wrong, but he wasn't. Permeation only worked on him, he couldn't use it on another person. If he was able to do so, he would've escaped with Eri the moment he caught her.
"So. You going to fight me, Schoolboy?" Overhaul challenged the blond, while Chrono pointed his gun at Mirio. He knew that if he accidentally shot Eri, Overhaul could still revive her. So he didn't care if she got hurt in the process either.
Mirio narrowed his eyes at the situation that he was in. I thought I knocked that drunk out...but my balance is still off. Is his Quirk still in effect? He didn't show it, but part of him was still disoriented despite everything he just did. But he couldn't let Overhaul or Chrono know that fact.
"Careful," Overhaul spoke up to his right-hand man before he could fire. "Aim for the arm wrapped around Eri."
"I didn't expect he'd be able to use his Quirk so precisely," Chrono commented while trying to lock in a targeted spot. "It's obvious he's been well trained."
"Can't let anything get in the way of your shot," Overhaul disassembled the spikes around him and around Mirio. He shielded Eri from the debris flying around.
He's clearing the path so the bullet can hit me. He smiled down at the little girl, unfazed by the obstacle in front of him. "Sorry about this," He then used his cape to cover the both of them. I can't see his face, but based on what he's doing, I'd say that's Chrono, Chisaki's right hand man. He looked up with a glare towards Chrono. If the briefing was right, I definitely don't wanna be on the receiving end of his Quirk.
Chrono fired twice, and both bullets went through Mirio's cape.
"He hid his body to obscure my aim," Chrono realized why he missed. The cape fell, and then the two were gone completely. "And here I thought heroes wore capes just to make them look cool."
Overhaul let out a sharp gasp as he realized something. "Chrono!" He shouted just as Mirio, with his cape cut off, came out of hiding from the ground to punch Chrono off his feet. The gun flew out of his hands and rolled to the side.
"Sorry, Overhaul!" He called out to his boss.
"He's strong. But..." Overhaul looked towards the cape, which was in a bundle. "He put Eri down! If I break her, he'll be forced to back off," He touched the ground, and Mirio jumped in from behind.
"Of course you would do that!" The blond recoiled back his fist. "MONSTER!" His hand went through Overhaul's to punch him in the face. Overhaul was sent flying backwards. "You wanna know why a hero wears a cape? So he can use it to comfort someone who's suffering!" Eri looked up from the cape, her mouth quivering. "That's why!"
Chrono, while Mirio was focused on Overhaul, jumped towards the fallen gun. This didn't go unnoticed by Mirio, whoever. Watch my opponent He swooped over to kick Chrono away from the weapon, knocking him backwards. Eri stared up ahead in silence, as she couldn't help but feel...a little awed despite her fear of Overhaul still clouding her judgement. Predict his next move! Act fast! The shell casings fell from the gun. Overhaul's face was now covered in the acne, much to his anger. Chisaki's so good, it's hard to believe he's just some yakuza thug. Mirio once again fazed through the floor, keeping his eye on Overhaul's hand touching the ground. He's strong, yeah. But... Mirio then leaped out of the ground, reaching out his hand. "Make no mistake. I'm stronger!" He declared while punching Overhaul in the chin to prevent him from using his Quirk.
"I'm never going to let you down again, Eri. I am going to be your hero! And I promise to introduce you to my friend, I know you want to meet her too!" Those words echoed in the little girl's head as a small blush came on her face at the sight in front of her. The fact that he was still fighting even though she knew what Overhaul could do...that he wasn't going to give up...it allowed her to have just a little bit of hope.
"You won't lay another finger on her," Mirio declared furiously to Overhaul; he didn't care what happened to him. He just wanted to make sure Eri was safe and happy again. "I'll take on anyone I have to! You've lost this fight, Chisaki!"
His eyes were blackened as he was still falling towards the ground. But he wasn't going to accept defeat that easily either. "Don't use that name so casually, fool," He snarled, staring up ahead at Mirio. "I've abandoned it."
"Well," The yakuza boss looked down at a younger Kai Chisaki. "If you have nowhere else to go, you can come with me, kid. What's your name? Can you speak?"
"...Chisaki," The young Kai answered after a few seconds. "Kai Chisaki."
He was now a young adult as he looked towards his father figure sitting on the couch. "The Todo gang was forced to disband," He informed the young man. "And our numbers continue to dwindle."
Chisaki had only a black mask around his face. "At this rate, it's only a matter of time for us. We need to be more innovative. What about the plan I told you about before? Have you given it more thought?" He had brought it up a while back, hoping to hear an answer now.
"Are you still bringing that up?" The old man snarled at him. "I gave you your answer, Chisaki. Stray too far from your humanity, and you're losing sight of the old ways." Chisaki furrowed his eyebrows to hear this. "No one's going to follow a demon with no heart."
He wished he didn't have to think of those words, but Mirio was pushing him to do so. But he didn't want the reminder of what his master had thought, because he wanted to see this through. "Master!" He looked up towards Nemoto. He was stuck in a crack from the rearranging of structures. Mirio gasped that he managed to survive that.
I thought he was down for the count!
Overhaul's eyes shook as he realized the member's presence. "Nemoto! Shoot!" He screamed at the top of his lungs. He then threw something towards Nemoto, revealing it to be...the box with the Quirk-destroying drugs. One in particular fell out of the box.
"Join the organization."
The falling bullet landed near Nemoto, and he quickly grabbed it. "It'll be reassuring to have you with me," He told Nemoto while telling him to join the Hassaikai. Nemoto then loaded his gun with the red bullet.
Those were his true feelings He thought while pointing the gun at Mirio, a few tears going down his eyes. He felt like this was what he was meant to do for Overhaul. The boss needs me. I can't let him down. Even if it costs me my life, I'll assist him however I can. He then put his finger on the trigger, his finger shaking as he looked at both Mirio and Overhaul. He waited for his shot, but it was difficult to pinpoint for him. Mainly because his legs were trapped, so he didn't have much mobility. Plus, after watching Mirio, it was going to be more difficult to be able to land a good shot. His previous bullets went right through the boy. But where do I aim? I only have one bullet, and I'm shooting at an untouchable target. How can I keep him from using his Quirk?
Mirio jumped out of the ground after knocking back Nemoto and Sakaki. "I'm going to make sure she has a reason to smile! Until she can, I won't stop!"
He gasped sharply as he realized...that Mirio did have a weakness regardless of how strong he was. His true feelings! He then pointed his gun elsewhere and Mirio turned around...as the gun was pointed right at Eri. She flinched in alarm from seeing this and Mirio jumped forward. Eri ducked her head to brace herself. Mirio gritted his teeth, remembering her crying and gripping Izuku so that she wouldn't have to go back with Overhaul...
You've been living with so much despair this whole time. Thinking you had no choice but to suffer so much. That help would never come.
"Eri already knows what I can do..."
Mirio reached out his hand to the little girl. Well, I'm not going to let you down again. Nemoto then fired the bullet just as Mirio touched Eri's head. Don't worry. I won't let you suffer. Not anymore! The bullet was still heading towards Eri and she looked up...as he was smiling towards her. And then the bullet hit him in the back from behind, shielding her completely from it.
As a boy, Mirio had fallen into a river until he was saved by a hero. His father went over to his son gratefully. After that day, Mirio clenched a fist, pumping it into the air. "I'll be a hero who saves people!" He declared, wanting to be just like the hero that had saved him.
"Mirio," His father spoke up, getting his attention. He then picked up the boy with a smile on his face. "You have to be careful. One wrong move with your Quirk, and you could split in two."
"Huh?" He looked up at his father wide-eyed. While he didn't split in two, he did fall through the floor naked once when Tamaki came over. And the two couldn't do anything to stop it.
"It's a really hard power to master. That's why your pops here gave up on being a pro." Mirio then smacked his face into a plank during gym class, causing the other students to laugh at him. He then focused his Quirk on a rock in determination. "You sure you still wanna be a hero?"
"You bet!" Mirio cheered to his father, a big smile on his face.
"...Alright," His father smiled towards him in encouragement. "Then I'll support you in any way I can."
Those were words Mirio took to heart as he stood in the cherry blossom tree field. He looked towards UA in the distance behind the falling petals.
As a kid, both he and his father were excited to design his future costume...and then one time in gym he ended up naked because of his Quirk activating as a teen. "No matter what, Mirio." He remembered as a child, he would run with his dad in a field wearing a red cape that they made together. "Just do your best!"
The drug activated throughout his body, red veins appearing as it took effect. It felt like his body was going to split apart as he kneeled in front of the shocked Eri. "You're diseased," Overhaul growled out as he got onto his feet, sagging his arms. He didn't even need to look up to know what had happened. "Your Quirks allow you to dream you'll become something bigger," He was shaking with joy within him at his successful tactic. "But that way of thinking is an illness of the mind. I'm offering the world a cure!" He sounded more crazed while talking.
"Master. I did it," Nemoto murmured proudly of his actions and without any shred of regret either. Although if Overhaul heard it, he either didn't care to react or just was too happy that Mirio got hit with the drug.
"Ironic, isn't it? You came here to save this girl, and it's her power that will end everything you've come to rely on!" Overhaul exclaimed and touched the ground, knowing that he'd succeed this time around in getting Eri back. "You're powerless!"
Chrono was suddenly thrown towards him. He grabbed Chrono and then shoved him to the side, focusing on Mirio. Watch your opponent carefully. Mirio lunged forward to punch Overhaul in the arm hard. Predict his next move!
Overhaul glared towards him, recoiling back while holding his arm. It wasn't as powerful as Mirio's previous hits, but it still hurt.
No Mirio told himself while keeping his eyes on his opponent. I am not powerless! He then gritted his teeth; no matter what anyone did or said to him...he was still going to be a hero. He would still be here to save that little girl even if he died today. Because as long as he could still move, he would not let her go back to the suffering she had endured up until this point. "I am still Lemillion!" He shouted towards Overhaul, whose glove tore to pieces. He moved his arm to attack, but Mirio moved his body to the left to avoid it.
I can't believe it. Sakaki's Quirk is still in effect Nemoto looked towards Mirio in disbelief that he hadn't even so much as fallen down or lost his vision. Hell, if he was supposed to be disoriented, he was doing a damn good job of hiding it from everyone. And even though he was now powerless, he still wasn't backing down. He was still strategizing against Overhaul. And he's lost the power that made him seem invincible. Yet, he still fights He couldn't help but feel impressed while Eri looked towards Mirio and Overhaul with tears in her eyes. Why? For the girl? Mirio swung up his fist to punch Overhaul. Madness. What is he?
Just like how Mirio couldn't fathom how Overhaul treated Eri...Nemoto couldn't come to grips as to why Mirio was fighting this hard. Even though Nemoto himself didn't care for the girl, he shot at her for a reason. No one in the Hassaikai lifted a finger or spoke up about what Overhaul was doing to Eri. They just couldn't bring themselves to care because it was what their boss wanted. And yet...Mirio himself was pushing his body, fighting for his life to save someone he only met once.
As he was still fighting with Overhaul, Eri watched in fear for the boy. Mirio then grabbed the girl as the rest of his cape tore apart thanks to the villain. He looked up at the two furiously as Mirio jumped up, sliding down the spikes with a fierce look on his face.
"I'll do my best!" Mirio pumped a fist.
One of the spikes tore into Mirio's leg, blood coming from it. He gritted his teeth to hide the pain from his injuries. He could imagine himself running towards the light...as that was one of many things keeping him going in this fight. Eri was the main reason, but...he also had his father, his friends, and his passion for being a hero...that was able to help him up until this point. Eri squeezed her eyes shut nearby. Another spike went through Mirio's other leg and he grunted in pain. What remained left of his cape flew to the side.
Eri's tears streamed down from her right eye. Mirio had gotten stabbed through his leg and side. She felt like she couldn't watch this...but at the same time, she could sense that he wasn't going to stop until she was safe. And she didn't know if she could stomach that for much longer...
"I'll become a hero...and save people!" The child Mirio ran towards the light, wearing the cape that he used to envision himself as a hero...
Mirio struggled to breathe, as his injuries were deep. "You wanted to become a hero so badly," Overhaul mocked as Mirio felt like he couldn't move. "And you couldn't even save Eri...you're filthy, Lemillion. Infected. But I'll fix you all with her power! Every last one of you."
Eri looked up ahead as her small shred of hope had been shattered by Overhaul. And it wasn't going to be restored...she knew that no one knew where they were, it would be impossible to find them. Watching someone dedicating his life to save her...it was becoming to be too much for her.
Mirio then pulled out the spike that was in his side. Nighteye. Tamaki. I'm still fighting Mirio thought while Overhaul touched the ground. "CHISAKI!" He shouted as he looked up ahead.
"I told you that's not my name anymore!" Overhaul screamed as he sent an attack towards Mirio.
Suddenly, there was a crack, and the wall nearby exploded...to reveal Izuku and Izuka!
