Angel: I mean, in terms of Bakugo's sportsmanship, the very next chapter is his match with Izuka on his team. Wonder how that's gonna go, huh? And I feel like he has more of a chance of learning something from Izuka because Neito at this point is just irritating.
Anyway, thank you to MissLiss for the well wishes, that's very sweet. Right now, I'm okay. I'm actually taking coding classes currently so I can add that to my resume and get more financially stable jobs that way. But in the meantime, to pay for those classes, I have to go back to working at a restaurant, yaaaaaay...Which is gonna definitely affect my schedule, but we'll see how I can work around it. Thankfully, the payments for tuition aren't that expensive, so I only have to stomach the job for a few months.
Someone asked me about doing Naruto, and...not really a fan of it tbh. I could never get into Naruto even if it did interest me—it has more episodes than this story will have chapters as a whole. So that is too much content for me, I do have my limits here. Even if I was a fan of Naruto, the thought of writing the entire series start to finish makes me wanna break out into hives. So I'm sorry to all the Naruto fans, I'm gonna have to decline that one. Even if I watch a few episodes for like a one-shot, I still wouldn't do it, I have enough projects and lifestyle changes going on currently.
Classes 1-A and 1-B from the hero course at UA High are battling it out against one another in team combat training.
With some added twists here and there. Not only would our improvements with our Quirks be assessed, but also how the matchups work well.
So far, each Class has managed to score a win.
But now it's time for the third match!
Class A started the third round strong with Todoroki's ice attack. But the tables were turned thanks to Honenuki's Quirk. Now, the match is starting to look like it's going in the Class B's favor. Maybe.
Meanwhile, Tenya's entire body was submerged into the softened ice, which Juzo had unsoftened already. So now Tenya was trapped in ice completely. "You are evil incarnate!" The class rep declared angrily while struggling.
"Sorry about it," Juzo sighed a little, turning to him. "Recipro has a time limit, right? Not so smart to use it right at the beginning," He then turned around and walked off. "Anyway, I'm gonna go help Tetsutetsu."
"A time limit?" Tenya realized that Juzo assumed right after he used his ultimate move, that there was a set amount of time he could use it. Something he saw at the Sports Festival. "That was a while ago, Mudman." Juzo stopped and turned around in confusion. "Ingenium will rush anywhere at anytime." The ice around him started to crack, smoke coming from the cracks. "That's what these legs are for! They won't be constrained!" He then broke the ice open, to Juzo's surprise. Tenya glared as he was now free. "You see? I've been at full throttle this entire time!" He was heading towards Juzo using his Engine while in ice. "New Style. Recipro Turbo!"
Tenya's engines were on fire underneath the ice as they were powered up thanks to the training he did. He then broke the ice off as he skated around the shocked Juzo.
"Ten minutes!" He then zipped forward as he felt like he was a race car going at top speed. "For 10 minutes...nobody can stop me!" He shouted as he skated across the ice practically.
"Is he going to beat me with some new move I've never seen?" Juzo gritted his teeth for not anticipating this as he looked around. He could barely even get eyes on his opponent to know where he was currently. One thing was clear though: He shouldn't have underestimated Tenya and how much training he did.
"I can't control it completely," Tenya confessed as he picked up even more speed. He went past Juzo to knock the wind out of him.
So fast!
Tenya then ricochetted around Juzo so fast that someone would get whiplash. "But at this speed, the trade-off is power." He then knocked Juzo into the air, the boy bracing himself from the impact.
"Well. Fair enough!" He growled as he covered his mouth with a visor. "I'm no match for this attack."
Tenya slid to a stop, a bunch of ice falling. He panted as he recollected himself from the new move. "You're under arrest, villain!" He shouted and then flinched as he saw Juzo touching the ice with his hands. He turned it soft and Tenya zipped over to him. But he was too late as Juzo managed to disappear into the softened ice.
"Sorry, I'm not one of those stubborn heroes in training. I won't keep fighting when I'm at a disadvantage," He then swam off to go find his team. "It's not the best idea to leave Ida in the wind, but I don't think I can stop him. Smarter to hurry and find Tetsutetsu and the others so I can help them." He'd rather not risk getting captured if he continued to fight Tenya.
Tenya touched the ice as he stared at the ground. It was solid, so Juzo had stopped affecting the entire area. "The ice has gone back to normal. Is he planning a surprise counterattack?" He looked up skeptically, as he was completely alone now. "No, he should understand now that that wouldn't work," He got onto his feet, looking behind him. "He probably left to support his teammates." He would probably do the same thing...
"Wow!" Ochaco exclaimed in awe after she saw Tenya's move. "That's our speedster!"
"Recipro Turbo, huh?" Izuku blinked with his notebook ready. "Using that, he's faster than even Gran Torino."
"Yeah, it's cause you started going 'Shoot Style' and using your kicks, and Mido started using her abilities to make new ones. So Ida worked hard to make sure he stood out," Minoru informed the twins.
"I should ask if he has any new pointers for me," Izuku murmured in thought with a smile.
"Ida must really want to prove himself, huh?" Izuka smiled knowingly, remembering what Tenya said at the Sports Festival.
"But if I continue to follow you, I'll never get stronger," He then stared at the twins straight in the eyes. "Bakugo and Todoroki have challenged you both already, but they aren't the only ones who see you as a rival, both individually and together."
I'd say he's on the right path for himself already Izuka smiled a little to herself. She could also see the rest of their classmates doing the same thing. And if that was their plan, she honestly couldn't disagree. She herself was motivated to get stronger just by watching others.
"Um, you guys!" Mina shouted, pointing up at the screen. "Eyes on Ojiro!"
Mashirao grunted as he couldn't keep up with Sen's attacks for very long. He swung his tail while Sen hit it with his drilled arms. Mashirao jumped up while swinging his tail again, dodging Sen's fast movements. The Class B boy grinned as his leg spun around and he swung it at Mashirao. The boy jumped back, hitting his tail against a pipe. He then lunged forward to hit his legs against Sen. He knocked his opponent back with brute force.
"He's trying for an ordinary fist fight," Kyoka guessed in a bit of worry.
"It looks like he's losing ground, but Ojiro's gotten better like the rest of us!" Hanta pointed out as they continued watching. "You got this!"
Mashirao grunted in pain as he felt like he was reaching his limit. Oh man, I can't keep this up.
Sen seemed to come to this realization as well as he grinned. "Don't you know you can't win if you're just parrying?" He mocked as he didn't let up on his attacks.
I don't even have time to attack! Mashirao thought while gritting his teeth, flying backwards. Sen slid across the pipe to skate across. But I can't just keep blocking. Those support items of his would rip me to shreds. He watched as Sen spun around his arm. Kaibara's gotten brutal. He ran and then jumped across the pipes. Sen grinned as he hit his arm against the pipe. This caused a vibration within the pipe Mashirao was hanging onto. He gasped sharply from the feeling and it caused him to lose his balance.
"Gotcha now!" Sen smirked as he saw his opponent falling towards him. Before he could finish off Mashirao, a spark came from down below. Something swooped in, revealing to be Tenya himself to assist his teammate.
"Ida!" Mashirao exclaimed in surprise to see him.
"I'll throw Spiral in jail! Forgive my brief absence as I do," Tenya informed and then took off with Sen over his shoulders. "Help the others, Ojiro! Mudman is probably heading toward them! I'll be back!" He was even talking quickly as he left.
Mashirao stared at him while hanging onto a pipe with his tail. "Yeah, you got it!" He called out as he was still able to understand what Tenya was saying. He then faltered as he stared at the class rep. Wow. His talking gets faster too. Wow.
Sen gritted his teeth as he was being spun around in rapid fashion by Tenya. "Let go of me!" He shouted towards the class rep. "I haven't gotten to show off yet!"
"Silence, fiend!" Tenya yelled back at him. "I won't let one of your ilk boast!" He stomped down on a pipe and let himself fall down.
"You let Honenuki go, didn't you?" Sen asked him knowingly, since Tenya didn't mention capturing his classmate at all. "Even though you saw how much a pain he can be. Why wouldn't you go after him first? Do you really think it's smart to butt in on a one-on-one fight instead, Ingenium?!"
"This is what my brother would've done," Tenya stated with a serious expression on his face. "So I'll act accordingly." He then placed Sen in the prison, the boy standing up to stare at Tenya in the doorway. "If I compromised my ideals in training, I'd likely do so in a real fight as well."
Sen just gave him a small smirk. "You're a real stick in the mud..." He remarked a little bitterly.
"...Yeah. I hear that often," And with that, Tenya closed the door to go find the rest of his teammates that might need his assistance.
Ice started to break apart until it revealed Tetsutetsu who had been trapped in it. Shoto flinched and immediately created more ice to stop his opponent. But Tetsutetsu managed to move forward and punch him so hard he couldn't even move. "Have a taste of my fist!"
Shoto grunted as he was sent flying backwards by the punch. "Thanks to how resilient he is, Tetsutetsu can move even though he must be freezing," Rikido pointed out, his arms crossed. "I mean, it's not like his skin is gonna rip off or anything."
"So manly," Eijiro punched his hands together, feeling like he had to do the same in the future. "I'll learn from your example!"
"Blasting ice even though it's useless is something only an idiot would keep doing," Katsuki remarked as he smirked, looking a little bloodthirsty to be in the battle...
Izuka glanced back at him and then turned back to the screen. I know Shoto's got this regardless of how it may seem. I haven't properly fought him myself like Izuku or Katsu have, but I don't need to in order to tell that Shoto has gotten stronger.
Tetsutetsu punched the ice in front of him. "I'll smash your defenses. Nothin's gonna stop my steel fist of justice!" He declared while destroying another block of ice.
"Fine then," Shoto gritted his teeth as he was near a pipe. His arm then caught on fire. "I'll use a wall of fire instead!" He swung his arm to create an explosion of fire to engulf Tetsutetsu in. He was caught off guard as the flames hit him. Pony ran away in fear as it was too hot for her.
"Ouchies!"
"Shoji!" Shoto looked to the side. "Tsunotori's yours!"
Mezo was getting himself out of Pony's horns. "Right!" He nodded sharply as he got onto his feet.
Push him back! Shoto thought while keeping his eyes up ahead. Gain some distance! He then gasped in alarm as he saw something.
"You still don't get why I'm your opponent, do you?" Tetsutetsu was stepping out of the fire, much to Shoto's shock. He had a feeling that a bunch of fire would make the Class B boy's body too much to handle...because Eijiro couldn't handle Katsuki's explosions when they fought during the Sports Festival. And yet Tetsutetsu, who was the exact same as Eijiro in terms of how his Quirk worked, seemed to be managing it just fine. It wasn't like his metal body was made out of tungsten either. "I thought it would be obvious! Your Quirk has zero effect on me."
"He's glowing from the heat?" Shoto murmured in disbelief. Tetsutetsu's body was glowing orange, with no signs of pain whatsoever.
"Those flames a'yours got my body burnin' red hot!" Tetsutetsu grinned proudly and then looked at Shoto intensely. "Let's go!"
"Do your best, Hot-Tetsu!" Pony called out while looking over her shoulder.
Tetsutetsu ran towards Shoto with a big grin. "I've been training for somethin' just like this! You ever spent time inside an oven? Cause guess what!" He had trained his body to be able to take on any heat temperature, including Shoto's. He then punched the red/white haired boy in the face.
"Tetsutetsu has Todoroki on the ropes and won't let him escape!" Vlad King announced while the boys were surrounded by fire. Tetsutetsu kept punching Shoto nonstop. "Given their close proximity, Todoroki is unable to use any of his area attacks!"
Several of his classmates and even some of the teachers were watching in anticipation. They all knew Shoto was one of the strongest people in Class 1-A, so he had to think of something quick.
I really hope this doesn't have anything to do with his dad... Izuka bit her lip in worry as she watched. And Tetsutetsu-San himself has seen what too much fire can do to his body. So he obviously accounted for it by training. Doesn't help Shoto that Class B hasn't been in many events as us, so they've had more time to improve against things like fire and ice...even if one of them is particularly annoying, I can't help but commend them.
Tetsutetsu held up Shoto by the collar. "Half-Cold Half-Hot. You won't even put a scratch on me!" The silver-haired boy declared to Shoto, who only stared in silence. "You get it yet? I've forged my steel into something even you can't dent. By demolishing my limits!" He then punched Shoto in the stomach hard, causing him to grunt and pant heavily.
"Draw up all the heat you can from inside your body!" Enji ordered Shoto, glaring down at him. "And then take it beyond that limit!" He watched Shoto having just thrown up as he felt like he was suffocating. "I know you can do this. You're just not trying!"
Shoto squeezed his eyes shut, a tear running down his face.
Tetsutetsu punched him again much harder. "Only thing to do now is keep punchin' till you're KO'd!"
Shoto let out a small growl to himself as he felt like he wasn't fighting hard enough...how was he going to defeat a villain like this if he didn't push himself? Even though it was advice he'd rather not listen to because it pained him to remember. And if having to rely on it would be just as bad.
"Know this. There is a power inside of you that goes beyond what anyone else can wield," Enji told his son, who was kneeled towards the ground.
What he said to me...why am I remembering it now? Damn it!
It was like something was telling him to heed the advice for once, even though it went towards his relationship with his father. Something he still didn't want to acknowledge because he still didn't forgive his father. And right now, he still didn't. Shoto slid a foot backwards as Tetsutetsu recoiled back his fist confidently. "All you can do now is take it!"
Shoto held out his hand to the boy. No matter what...fire or ice... His hand suddenly glowed orange.
"You'll follow my path. And one day, your power might even surpass mine!" Endeavor declared proudly after Shoto beat Izuku in the Sports Festival.
He finally used his fire in the match against Izuku. "It's yours! Your Quirk, not his!" Izuku suddenly shouted at the boy.
Izuka stared into his eyes with empathy, and not any negative emotion. "I wish I was in control as you are with your Quirk, fire or ice."
He glared towards Tetsutetsu, remembering that no matter who he faced or how hard the battle seemed...he was going to become a hero his way. Even if his father had high expectations then...the only ones he needed to meet were his own. "Get back," He warned as half of his entire body caught on fire.
"Whoa, that's hot!" Tetsutetsu jumped back in alarm from the temperature this time.
"More," Shoto willed himself to turn it up higher. It was so hot now that he melted the ice he made earlier. "More!" Even a camera broke, cutting off the feed.
"Well, there goes the camera," Vlad King murmured a bit anxiously.
Izuku sweated nervously as he had a good idea of what was going on. The real concern was...would Shoto himself be able to handle it?
Izuka bit her lip, clenching her fists tightly as her fingernails poked into them. It's almost like his fight with Izuku, but with more flames than last time...it's almost like what I went through...that he used to hold back on his fire because of the past expectations of his dad.
I can raise the temperature higher, He thought to himself, knowing that even Tetsutetsu had to have a limit regardless of his training. Go further! Burn myself if I have to! He gritted his teeth as the fire increased even more, overtaking his entire left side. In order to become who I want to be!
As his body was burning, the other cameras managed to recapture Shoto, but it was more from a distance. If they were able to get closer, they'd get cut off. Toshinori stared in shock as he didn't think Shoto could even push himself like this... Young Todoroki... It reminded him so much of Endeavor, actually... With Endeavor's firepower...
Tetsutetsu braced himself as he wasn't expecting this from Shoto, nor could he handle it like he thought he could. "It's too much!" His eyes widened towards Shoto. "Can't get close. That firepower is crazy! I get ya, Todoroki! I'm holding all this heat inside a' me, same as you are! I know. It's gotta be hard on you too, right?" He felt like Shoto was holding something back the whole time until now. He then stepped a little bit closer. "I don't think you'll be able to keep it up for long," He covered his face with his arms while trying to move. "In which case, I won't back down!" He then lunged forward to attack. Shoto swung his left arm, and once Tetsutetsu was closer, he set it on fire. Tetsutetsu grabbed the arm as the fire engulfed his body. "Endurance contests are my specialty!" Shoto gritted his teeth and then his opponent kneed him in the stomach. "I'm gonna go beyond!"
"You're wrong," He seethed a little while looking up. "Give up before I have to show you what I can do..."
"If you're not willing to risk everything during training, then you'll never do it in a real fight either!" Tetsutetsu yelled while withstanding the flames. He then kneed Shoto once more. "Our powers and limits are there to be surpassed!"
Shoto looked up with a small grin. "It's time for you to shut up..." He growled out while engulfing both of them in flames.
While the fire was still going on, Pony was trying to locate Mezo. She glanced back in the direction of the flames. I'm pretty far away but I can still feel that! She couldn't help but wonder how far Shoto's flames could reach...she then gasped as she saw Mezo heading straight for her. She jumped away so that he'd miss, using her horns to fly away from him. I gotta hurry up and get back to our steely boy. Once she was at a good distance, she moved to face Mezo, who came to a stop. "Sorry, Tentacole! I never look at the octopuses at the aquarium. They are not cute."
"I'm used to people being scared of me," He remarked while preparing himself.
She moved her head down to point her horns at him. "Then don't take it personal, kay?" She then smirked as she fired off four more horns. "I'm tryna help us win!"
He narrowed his eyes as he felt like he was more prepared than last time. "Bring it on!" He challenged the girl, summoning lots of arms around him.
"Thunder Horn!" She shouted as the four horns flew towards Mezo.
"Octoblow!" He announced and punched at the multiple flying horns repeatedly to make them into bits. He let out a yell as he continued moving his arms to punch all the horns down. Pony wasn't letting up either as she continued firing, hoping to get at least one to hit him. As Mezo kept punching, he took a few steps forward.
"You're-"
"Done!" She moved an arm to move a horn around Mezo's body. It was sent flying towards his back, but thanks to a duplicate eye from his body, he was able to see it coming. He caught the horn in his hand.
"You saved me...Ojiro!" He shouted, to her confusion. Pony looked up to see Mashirao jumping out of hiding.
"Twirling Tail Dance!" He screamed as he spun his body around. Pony launched two horns at him, but his tail broke them to pieces. He then grabbed the horns that were on top of her head, swinging his body around. She yelped in alarm as he wrapped his tail around her body. "You may be good with those horns, but they're no help to you if you can't shoot them!"
"This is how you catch me? It's so darn ordinary!" She exclaimed in annoyance.
"I'll take her to the jail," Mezo offered while walking forward and held up his arms. "You go support Todor-" He then yelped as the ground started moving like mud. Mezo attempted to get out while Mashirao tried to keep his hold on Pony.
Juzo popped out of hiding nearby, and Mashirao caught sight of him. "Him again!"
"I'll be taking my teammate back now," Juzo held out his hand, touching the ground. "If you didn't know, our class is pretty tight." Mezo's body fell into the softened ground as he couldn't get out. Mashirao tried to break out himself while Juzo swam into the softened floor. "Keep struggling. Your hold on her will only get looser." He then touched Mashirao's tail with his hands.
Mashirao grunted as he couldn't move. "You bastard!" He growled out and then spun around his tail. "Fist of the Tail, Swamp Smack Spin!" The ground around him cracked open, sending Juzo flying towards a pipe. Mezo was free as well, and he was able to grab onto a support pipe. Once Mashirao's arms were free, Mezo grabbed him with his duplicate limbs to pull him and Pony out.
"Thanks for that," He said gratefully as he set them free.
"Likewise," Mashirao remarked while still holding onto Pony.
Juzo was shaking, still getting over what just happened. "How'd he use so much force...?"
"You gotta tell me before you do something like that, Honenuki!" Pony shouted angrily, getting his attention. Mashirao glanced down at her while two horns popped out of the ground. She then hit Mashirao's tail with them, drawing out blood. He gritted his teeth in pain, but still held onto her.
"I won't let you go!" He declared furiously to his opponent.
"It's cool, I'm not worried about that," And the smile on her face confirmed she wasn't. Two more horns popped up out of hiding, flying around and sinking into Mashirao's tail again. It was strong enough for Mezo to lose his hold, both of them sent flying backwards.
"Ojiro!" Mezo cried out, with no way to catch up to them. Or even stop the attack.
"With the power of these four horns...I'll send you straight the slammer!" Pony told him as they were flying out into the light. The two crashed into Class B's homebase prison.
Vlad King smiled a little from this tactic. "Doesn't matter how she got him inside...if he's behind bars, then he's out." Pony was shaking as Mashirao was lying down in the prison, so it did count. But so far, that meant only Sen and Mashirao were captured. "Right now, it's one-to-one."
The camera switched back to the fiery battle between Shoto and Tetsutetsu, both literally and figuratively. "What's wrong? Todoroki? Huh?" Tetsutetsu mocked a little as he now wasn't showing any side effects from the flames on his body, despite the change in temperature. "You're getting slow!" He recoiled back his fist again to punch Shoto, his arm on fire. Shoto blocked the attack with both arms. Because of Shoto slowing down, this allowed the amount of heat from him to cool down.
"I could say the same about you," He pointed out, as that punch wasn't as hard hitting as the others were. He started to feel disoriented, mainly because he hadn't reached the high temperature level until now. When he did it at the Sports Festival, it was at a relatively lower amount. I'm getting dizzy. My movements are imprecise...sloppy. If I wanna cool myself down...I'll have to get him to back off first. As his vision was blurring, he felt like that would be a big task considering how Tetsutetsu wasn't going to back down. And his punches were affecting him more and more. He grunted and then pushed the boy away, holding up his flaming arm.
"Go beyond that limit!" Shoto could imagine his father saying while a tiny flame appeared and then expanded into an explosion. Fire gathered into Shoto's hand, turning into a sparking fireball. He had used the fire around them to create it. Tetsutetsu flinched at this tactic as Shoto recoiled back his hand. Fire was building up from it. As he stepped closer though, his foot got stuck into softened ground. Juzo had just arrived and was nearby. Tetsutetsu lost his balance a little bit.
"Can't let you melt my classmate," Juzo spoke up, Shoto glancing back in shock for his sudden arrival. He had forgotten all about Juzo until now, since he wasn't around for a bit.
Tetsutetsu's body was letting out smoke as he could barely stand. "Oh, hey. What's up...?" He murmured a bit weakly. The pipes started to move and fall, and one of them hit Shoto in the back of the head.
Crap, I'm gonna pass out... He could barely keep his eyes open.
"Now harden," Before Juzo could do so, Tenya came flying in with his leg outstretched. He managed to kick off some of Juzo's mask and then slid backwards.
"I didn't miss this time, Mudman!" He declared to the boy. He zipped over to the unconscious Shoto, picking him up. The red/white haired boy still had some smoke coming off of him because of what happened. "So hot!" He didn't let that stop him, though.
"Bastard," Tetsutetsu declared a bit angrily. "I won't let you get away!"
Tenya flinched, looking over to the boy.
"Shouldn't you be worried about saving that guy?" Stain implored, referring to Native. Izuku then came in to attack him.
"The coolest person you can be is someone who helps others," Tensei informed his little brother while Shoto and Izuka revealed themselves to help out. "If you see a lost kid, help them find their way home." Eijiro, Tenya, and Izuku flew towards the sky in Kamino using Shoto's ice. Katsuki jumped up with Izuka holding onto him, and he grabbed Eijiro's hand.
"I'll return for you, villain!" Tenya declared, as he wasn't going to leave behind a person in need in favor of fighting. Not again after the Hosu Incident. His engines charged up and then he zoomed past Tetsutetsu. "My priority is rescue!"
Juzo couldn't even stand up, his body shaking. I'm losing consciousness...after one hit...even though he said he didn't have control at that speed. It was a mistake leaving Ida for later. Man, does this mean we lost? If I black out, the things I softened will go back to normal...I couldn't even leave behind something to help like Yaoyorozu did... Momo's lucky bag came to mind, when she gave Fumikage goggles by shooting over the wall instead of through it like Itsuka assumed. He definitely should've been more careful around Tenya... I don't feel frustrated or anything. We'll lose fair and square. He felt like because of him, they would lose because he didn't anticipate how much stronger Tenya had gotten with his Quirk. But he still needed to assist his classmates, otherwise he would've fought for nothing. But I don't want my friends to fail just because I messed up! He started to crawl forward, as he felt like this was his only chance to redeem himself. One more chance! He reached out to something to touch it. "Tetsutetsu! Quickly! Push this!" He yelled towards his classmate.
The silver-haired boy looked up with a toothy snarl. He growled and then lunged forward, hitting a structure with his body. A sonic boom occurred throughout a tower that Juzo just affected, and it fell forward.
Tenya gasped as he glanced behind him to see the tower falling towards him. And by the looks of it, he wouldn't be able to outrun it. Nevertheless, he went as fast as possible to avoid it, and then the tower crashed, smoke filling the area.
Izuku, Ochaco, and Izuka all stared in worry for their friends. Vlad King gripped the microphone from how seriously everyone out there was taking it. Not even the previous teams attempted anything that drastic... "This is a fight..."
Currently, no one could see what happened on camera. As the smoke started to clear, the tower melted and then hardened. Tetsutetsu was on the ground as he was now passed out. Same thing with Juzo, so neither of them were getting up anytime soon.
Tenya had tossed Shoto out of the way so that he was safe. But the red/white haired boy was unable to move thanks to pushing his limits. The class rep on the other hand, had gotten trapped underneath the melted, hardened tower. Most of his body was underneath, so he wouldn't be able to escape it either. Even if he could, he had already reached his limit with his Recipro Turbo. This rendered him completely stuck.
"The four of them are down!" Vlad King announced, though this unfortunately didn't count for either team. "But they aren't out until they're in jail! What'll happen in the final moments?"
Tenya's hand twitched a little, and immediately he felt pain from the tower's weight on him. My left arm and leg are trapped...it's too much. I don't have enough strength to break out! He then looked up at the nonmoving Shoto. Todoroki. Apologies...if only I'd been a little better... He felt like if he had been faster in trying to escape being trapped, they could've captured Juzo and Tetsutetsu so that they would at least win... Just one step faster getting us out of here!
"Ida can't escape a little building that fell on top of him?" Vlad King asked in disbelief. "It looks to me like the struggle with Kaibara had a big impact on him! Ha! He fought back the entire time, and boy, did it pay off!" Sen was still in prison though... "Good job, Kaibara! You're definitely the MVP of this round!"
Denki and Eijiro were utterly dismayed to hear this. The one-sided commentary is somehow getting worse... The former gritted his teeth in annoyance.
"Someone needs to have a talk with Mr. Vlad, and soon. Or better yet, report him to the principal and see what he says then," Izuka glared a bit in annoyance towards Vlad King. Would anyone even be able to get out of Ida's situation? If it was Tetsutetsu-San or Honenuki-San, would he still be saying that?
"Both Class A and Class B have one person in their jails," Ochaco frowned a little.
"And almost everyone is down for the count," Mina looked a little worried.
"Only 2 more left," Minoru's mouth quivered a little nervously.
Pony glanced back at Mezo reaching out towards her. She flipped around and looked back at him, still flying on her horns. She then fired 2 horns, and he gasped as he saw her capture both Juzo and Tetsutetsu. Shoto was getting lifted off the ground, Tenya looking up.
"Todoroki!" He wished he could move to stop it. Especially since only he and Mezo were only the only ones conscious and/or not captured. So he only further blamed himself for not being able to move right now.
I can't let Shoji nab my pals! Pony thought while carrying Shoto in her arms. Juzo and Tetsutetsu were being carried by her horns. We'd be done for sure! So what should I do? Even if she could make it towards the jail, she knew that Mezo would stop her. She couldn't even spare more horns either as she was reaching her limits as well. I couldn't beat Shoji even with all four of my horns free. I definitely wouldn't be able to fight him and protect my teammates. If I put Todoroki in prison, then we'll take the lead. She glanced at Shoto, Juzo, and Tetsutetsu. She couldn't fight like this, or get away fast enough. But it was better than letting Mezo catch up to her. But carrying all three of 'em is weighing me down. At this rate, I'll be caught before I make it to the jail. She was looking a little nervous as Mezo was gaining on her. She gritted her teeth as she was conflicted on what to do. She couldn't just let any of them go, nor could she pick up speed. If I blow this, we lose!
Mezo's eyes widened a little as he clenched his fists. "Give him back!" He reached out a duplicate limb.
That's it! She jumped up to the sky just before he could grab her, leaving him wide-eyed.
"No!" He murmured as he looked up, because he was definitely at a disadvantage of being unable to fly. And by the time he got up there, she'd move further away from him. He couldn't stretch his limbs either unfortunately...
I'll go higher than he can reach and wait this sucker out! That way, even if we don't win, we technically won't lose! She was high as the towers, as were Shoto, Juzo, and Tetsutetsu. He looked up as he knew that even if he tried to gain some air, she'd see him.
"Sorry, Tentacole! I won't be the reason we have to go crawlin' back home as failures," She cried out towards her opponent.
"Wait, she took everyone into the sky?" Rikido questioned in a bit of confusion.
"Aw man, Shoji can't fly with his Quirk," Eijiro gritted his teeth, a little frustrated that there was nothing Mezo could do to stop her strategy.
"Huh!" Katsuki turned away with a scoff, as he wasn't impressed at all. Neither by what she did or how the match would end now because there wasn't that much time left. "She's just running away."
"Honestly..." The blond blinked as he looked towards Izuka staring towards the screen. "With the time almost up...I don't think there's much else that can be done. Not when your entire team is unable to do anything else. If I was faced with either winning or losing based on my actions, I wouldn't wanna come back saying I didn't do anything to ensure a team's results of a battle. Or to make them believe that they couldn't depend on me."
He stared at her in bewilderment for her words, wondering if she was really okay with doing something like that. She continued to stare at the screen, frowning.
"What? You told him that?" Shoto stared at the girl while they sat near the common room together. They were both having tea, and thankfully Katsuki was asleep in his room. The others were talking on the couches. She had just told him of her meeting with Hawks and Endeavor in Kyushu, aside from the Dabi thing. "You didn't have to do that for me. I apologize for getting you involved."
"No, it's okay," She gave him a small smile. "I think he at least got something out of it even though I still don't like what he did. I know that he has a lot to think about whether he listened to me or not."
"…He said he wanted to give you something, on behalf of Hawks." She blinked while looking up at him as he stared at his cup. "I don't know what he'll do from now on. But…I'm glad that I have you as a friend to help."
She smiled up at him, glad that he wasn't angry with her for talking to his father. Not that she had a choice back then…
"You can tell him that I don't want anything. I appreciate it, but…your friendship is a great gift on its own. And your well-being, Shoto."
He flinched at her statement, his eyes widening at her. He never thought she'd say anything like that to him given how their friendship started. Sometimes it was still unbelievable that he became great friends with her because of how he acted when they started UA.
"Wait, but I thought you and Bakugo liked each other, don't you?" He blinked in confusion, wondering if she had feelings for him or something like that.
"I-I didn't mean it like that, I just see you as a friend, really!" She yelped at him in alarm, blushing a little as she realized what he said. "And t-there's nothing going on with him either!" She sighed, closing her eyes with a small awkward smile, as her denial was probably not that convincing. "All I'm saying that is no matter what, I'm rooting for you, okay? So just keep being your own hero."
He definitely fought as hard as he could...but the circumstances just made it difficult for not just him, but the rest of his teammates Izuka gave a small frown.
"So, Deku. What do you think her plan is now?" Ochaco stared at the green-haired boy, snapping Izuka out of her thoughts.
"It may seem strange, but she's taking the safer route. If she left her teammates behind to escape, then Shoji could put them in jail," He explained while looking at his notebook.
"But why take Todoroki?" Minoru couldn't help but wonder, as he didn't see the logic behind it.
"If he comes to, he could attack with flames or ice, even in the sky," Izuku answered for him; it was highly unlikely, but he could see why Pony wouldn't want to take that chance for her team. He might've done the same thing. "This way, she can keep him knocked out. Or at least send him flying if he does wake up. It's like an insurance policy."
"But that doesn't make any sense!" Mina frowned down at him. "The whole point is to throw the other team in training jail!"
"If she was fast enough, yeah, but her horns could only do so much. And Shoto would easily defeat her if she gives him the opportunity," Izuka pointed out to her. "Remember, we can't guess the limits of our opponents, only what their Quirks are capable of. Not unless they show us for certain."
"They won't win, but they won't lose," Izuku pointed up at the screen as he nodded in agreement with his sister. There were only 13 seconds left before the match ended.
"Oh no! The timer!" Ochaco exclaimed in concern; and now it made sense why Pony didn't try to put Shoto in jail. She would never make it in time even if she managed to give Mezo the slip. And so, with Mashirao and Sen captured, they all watched in anticipation. Mezo gripped a fist as the buzzer blared.
"20 minutes have passed!" Vlad King told everyone while Pony put down the three boys. "The third match is over! Each team put one person away, so we've got ourselves a draw!"
"Aw, man," Denki exclaimed while he and Eijiro both lamented the announcement. "That's ridiculously unsatisfying!"
"In an actual encounter, running away and awaiting rescue can often be a reasonable option," Jurota defended his classmates. Both of them sagged their shoulders with a defeated sigh as he wasn't wrong...they had dived into this for their practicals after all.
Meanwhile, the transport bots were trying to get Tenya out of his trap. "Poor Ida," Ochaco looked up at him sympathetically. "He must be so upset."
"He must be so mad at himself for not being able to help out Shoji or Shoto out there..." Izuka sighed a little, a hand on her cheek.
"Yeah, but..." Izuku remembered how fast his friend was going, and what he did for Shoto to save him. It was like he was already a real hero, like he was living up to his brother's name. "He was so awesome!" He gushed a little. Izuka glanced over to him with a small knowing smile.
"Since there are a number of round three students unconscious, we can review their performances later! Get ready for the fourth match!" Vlad King stated and Izuka stood up, looking up to the sky. She had her hands on her hips.
"This is me, guys. I'll see you later!" She then turned around to walk off.
"You've got this, Mido!" Ochaco waved as they watched her leave.
"Looking forward to it!" Izuku smiled towards his sister.
"Smooch," Recovery Girl used her Quirk and Shoto gasped sharply, having woken up. He sat up as Tenya was nearby, having casts for his left arm and leg.
"Great, you're awake!" He smiled towards his classmate.
"That's a good patient," Recovery Girl then held up a bar. "Here, you should eat this protein bar. Ojiro ate his and went back out." Mezo was the only one not injured, so he was back with his class.
"Damn, Todoroki!" Tetsutetsu was in the doorway eating his own. "The match was a draw, but I feel like I lost the head-to-head fight! That heat was insanity! Let's do it again!"
"Ah! So loud," Recovery Girl scolded as she kicked him out, needing to focus.
A draw... Shoto didn't know if he should be satisfied or disappointed. He felt like he disappointed Fumikage and his other classmates rooting for them though...
"If only I'd been faster, we'd have claimed victory," Tenya murmured sadly, frowning.
"Ida..." Shoto murmured as he didn't blame Tenya for the draw. If anything, he felt grateful for the class rep saving his life. If he had been trapped underneath that tower, it would've been his arm and leg needing casts...
"It's obvious that I'm still too slow. Honenuki's style was so flexible. And I just failed to react," Tenya felt like he didn't make his brother proud...more like the opposite. He knew that if his brother could still be Ingenium today, he wouldn't have failed to be faster.
"You saved me though, didn't you? I seem to remember that," Shoto pointed out, frowning a little. "And anyway, when it comes to mistakes, I made the biggest one."
Juzo had already used his Quirk on the ice and pipes in the frozen area. He was touching a pipe as he was the only one who wasn't trapped in the ice. "If you'd been coldhearted and used fire, we wouldn't have been able to trap you."
Shoto looked down at his hands as he felt like the Class B student had a point. If he had used his fire first, it probably would've greatly changed the results of the match... "It's become a habit to use ice as my opening move. Like it's just ingrained in my body." There were just still so many things he couldn't get past even though he was using his fire. Even when he wanted to become his own hero, his past was still weighing on him like a crutch. "You are fast enough. I'm the one who's slow..." Tenya looked at him wide-eyed for hearing him say this. Especially since he remembered Shoto saying that he never used his left side... "And because of that weakness, I caused you and the team to worry." He thought about when he saw All Might on TV with his mother...and how much that inspired him despite everything he was going through. "I wanna be a hero who brings people piece of mind."
Recovery Girl smiled for his noble words, as she had a feeling who his drive was.
"No!" Tenya suddenly exclaimed, waving his arms despite his injury. "I would never consider you unrelia—ah!" He flinched in pain as he ended up breaking something. He put down his arm, his eyes softening. "I will run anywhere, to anyone who needs my assistance. That's my conviction as Ingenium's successor." He once saw his brother rescue someone, and he was front and center for the whole thing. He wanted that for himself as a pro...
Recovery Girl smiled again and then the curtain next to Shoto moved. They looked up to see that Juzo had recovered as well. "Since we're talkin' about how we need to upgrade, I'll point out that I also still have work to do." He then looked up with a grin. "So I hope you'll fight me again."
"Of course," Tenya and Shoto answered in unison.
"If you boys are better, then why are you still here?!" Recovery Girl pointed out as she would have other students to heal up soon. "This is no place for chitchat!"
"Right! Please excuse us!" Tenya yelped in alarm for making her upset.
"Poor babies, your backs are up against the wall," Neito walked up smugly as of course he was using this time to brag... "Class A and B both have one win! Lose this round, and there's no way you can say you're better than us!" He let out a cackle while his team watched not too far away.
"Comes and goes in waves, huh?" Denki stared at him, not amused at all.
"Oh, you've no idea how much I've been looking forward to this fantastic match up," Neito looked even more confident than ever. "Why, you ask? Because our beloved Tokage's in it! If I were Bakugo or your precious Mido, I'd be pretty worried about now!"
"Yeah, you don't get to call her that," Denki deadpanned in annoyance; he already knew Izuka would not approve of Neito saying it.
"Alright, let's go," Setsuna walked up to her team of Yosetsu, Kojiro, and Togaru.
"Yes! Setsuna Tokage!" Neito boasted, since she was one of the strongest of Class B. "The other student in Class B who got in through recommendations! She can be a real nasty piece of work."
Izuku gripped his notebook tightly after hearing this, narrowing his eyes. Kacchan! Big sister! He was waiting so badly to see how their teamwork had improved. The last time they worked together in battle was during the Kamino Incident... So much has changed between them...this time, Kacchan has grown to really respect her. And she's grown to appreciate his perspective. So I hope that hasn't dropped!
Kyoka flinched in alarm. "Wait! Bad idea. Let's talk about this, okay?" She asked while Katsuki was standing a few feet away from them.
"Yeah. You're not serious, right?" Rikido asked a bit skeptically.
Izuka looked up at Katsuki with a small frown. "Shut up!" He retorted back to them, smirking. Just watch me, Deku and Izuka!
I'm really not too sure about this idea...but Katsuki's trust has never steered me wrong before Izuka thought as she looked up, a hand on her hip. This was the same boy who had saved her so many times that she couldn't even keep track anymore. And he had inspired her to change how she fought, she couldn't start doubting him now. So do I really have a choice but to follow his instinct?
"We'll start when everyone is in position!" Vlad King told the two teams, grinning widely. "Fourth match. Prepare for battle!"
And so, the battle between Izuka, Katsuki, Hanta, and Rikido against Togaru, Setsuna, Kojiro, and Yosetsu was about to begin! Arguably one of the most anticipated matches of the team training...
