"Hey, down there!" someone called, from up the ramp into the light freighter. "Can you give us a hand with this?"

TK-421 and TK-710 exchanged a momentary glance, then 421 shrugged.

They may as well. What would the harm be?

"Why did you just knock him out, kid?" Han asked. "You know if he wakes up while we're gone…"

"I know, but we need to know something," Luke replied, taking the stormtrooper's helmet off. "Damn, the comlink's broken… anyway."

He glanced up at Han. "If we know a bit about this trooper, then we can at least do something with impersonating him."

"So, what, we're going to interrogate him?" Han asked. "How? You know they're trained to resist torture."

"Ben's got a way," Luke said. "Right, Ben?"

"I have," Obi-Wan agreed, crouching next to the unconscious stormtrooper, and made a pass with his hands.

The trooper blinked awake, but his eyes looked vague.

"What is your name?" Obi-Wan asked, in a courteous, conversational voice.

"TK-421," the trooper replied.

Luke blinked.

"...that's what they call their name?" he asked. "That's – that's a serial number. How thoroughly does the Emperor break his soldiers?"

"It's ironic," Obi-Wan agreed. "Clones began with numbers, but always sought to be more human… too human for the Emperor, in the end."

He made another pass with his hand. "What is your next duty?"

"Going to go with Huffy to his penthouse," the trooper said, smiling slightly.

Han, Luke and Chewbacca all looked baffled, then looked at one another to see if one of the others had any ideas.

"Who is… Huffy?" Obi-Wan asked.

"Wilhuff," TK-421 explained. "Never thought a Grand Moff and a guy like me…"

Luke looked baffled.

"...did we just knock out Tarkin's lover?" he asked, eventually. "Because that's what it sounds like."

Chewbacca roared something.

"I know, I know," Han agreed. "At this point killing him would feel too personal."

"Hmm," Obi-Wan mused. "Who is in charge on this station, Darth Vader or Tarkin?"

"Huffy is," TK-421 said, with a sort of dreamy smile.

"All right," Obi-Wan decided. "I have a new plan."

He waved his hand again. "You have been relieved of duty. In a few minutes, you will go to Tarkin and inform him of the following – there is a rumour among the men that the Lars farm was attacked by stormtroopers while attempting to recover the missing plans, and that their nephew was not present. You will further suggest to him that Darth Vader would find this important."

"Why would you tell him that?" Luke asked. "Why would Darth Vader find that important?"

"That is a story for another time," Obi-Wan told him. "However, this will mean that the one person on the ship I cannot influence with the Force will shortly be an extremely long way away. Then we can continue with our original plan."
