PruPan: Boss Fight Rage
"Oh, come on!" Gilbert exclaimed as the screen turned black.
He took a deep breath as his avatar returned to the last spawn point, and he started to go back to the next area.
"What's wrong?" Kiku asked as he came in.
"This stupid boss fight is kicking my ass," Gilbert complained. "And I was so close that time…"
Kiku was silent as Gilbert commenced the boss fight again. This time, he couldn't even get past the first phase, and he nearly screamed in frustration.
"How many times have you done this so far?" Kiku asked.
"I don't know," Gilbert said. "I wasn't keeping count." He checked his watch and groaned. "But it's been four hours, if that helps."
"That's a long time. You need to rest."
"I'll rest after I beat that Arschloch!"
"…Would you mind if I give it a try?"
Gilbert paused and turned to Kiku.
"Are you sure?" he asked. "Have you ever played this game before?" Kiku nodded. Gilbert handed the controller over to Kiku. "Good luck."
Kiku sat down next to Gilbert and proceeded to the boss battle. Gilbert's jaw dropped as Kiku not only managed to defeat the boss, but he did it without taking damage. Kiku handed the controller back to Gilbert.
"H-how did you do that?" Gilbert stammered.
"This is my favourite game, actually," Kiku said. "I've played it eight times. In fact, watching you put me in the mood to play it again."
Gilbert just stared at Kiku before he looked back at the screen.
"Eight times?" he asked. "How?"
"Like I said, this is my favourite game," Kiku said. "And when you've done absolutely everything you can in the game, the only thing you can do is restart it."
Gilbert didn't think that he was going to replay this particular game ever again.
So, I got Hollow Knight a while ago, but I was a bit too busy at the time, so I didn't play much of it. Just before I got it, I texted my sister about it, since I know that she played it and wanted to hear her opinion on it before buying it. She immediately told me to buy it, and revealed that it was her favourite game. I recently got the time to play it, and told her that I was actually going to play it. She told me to let her know if I have any questions. A few days ago, I offhandedly mentioned struggling with one of the earlier bosses (I'm not used to playing platformers, so I'm not very good yet). She restarted the game, and when she reached that boss battle, she had her friend, who was visiting at the time, record it on her phone while she did the battle and sent it to me, along with a few other tips. She also thanked me for putting her in the mood to play the game again.
