Chapter 33: Abandoned

"So this is the Sneasel that's been playing with the Twerps Pikachu," a woman said as she examined Blade.

"Possibly," replied a man dressed in a white coat, presumably some Team Rocket scientist or doctor. "Sneasel do live on Ula'ula Island but usually only at the top of Mount Lanakila. It's not common to see one this far down. There's nothing remarkable about this particular Sneasel though. It's strong for a wild Pokémon. I did find something interesting while conducting a body cavity search."

"Oh yes!" She sounded intrigued

"I found traces of semen in its rectum."

The woman sighed and gave the scientist an expression that seemed to say Really.

"So it's a homo. What's so interesting about that?" She clearly wasn't amused by the statement.

"I ran a DNA analysis of the semen found in its rectum. The DNA belongs to a Darkrai," the scientist explained.

She raised her eyebrows curiously. "A love interest with a legendary Pokémon?"

"Not just a legendary by the looks of it. The Darkrai DNA strand contained Raichu and Charmander genes. Presumably inserted using CRISPR. So the Darkrai that fucked this Sneasel was experimented on by humans."

The woman frowned. "Wait a moment. Faba came to us trying to escape arrest for illegal experiments. His indictment, mentioned something about a Darkrai….hmmm." she thought for a moment before asking, "The material you found. Old long do you think it would have been there."

'What the fuck are they going on about? What's happening?' Blade was starting to lose his cool.

"Probably not more than a couple of days," the scientist replied.

"If it's fresh then this Sneasel may have an intimate relationship with that Darkrai. Which means we have a way of baiting it…."

The Sneasel laid spread eagle on a cold metal table. His claws and feet were bound and secured to the table with strong magnetic cuffs rendering him immobile and completely vulnerable. For the past several hours, he wasn't sure how long it had been, he had been forced to endure a rather humiliating and humbling examination.

The scientist had run his latex gloved hands all across his body. He had stuck needles into his arms to take samples of blood and other fluids. Fingers and cotton swabs had penetrated his every orifice; his maw, his sheath and his rear. And worse of all, the bastard human had shoved something cold and metal into his tailhole.

For the first time he was afraid, truly afraid. Throughout his life he had been threatened, beaten, almost killed, captured and generally he had been made to suffer. But none of those experiences had ever produced the pure terror that filled him now. Trapped in this strange place, with these humans who were going to…Do what with him exactly? Experiment on him? Kill him? Enslave him?

Use him as bait to lure Shadow? He somehow doubted that was going to work, knowing Shadow, but the thought of it was still horrible. 'No….Shadow wouldn't, it would be too dangerous….right?'

"…But first. We need to find out a little bit more about its history. Fetch Psy!"

"Right away." The scientist turned and left the room. He returned about ten agonizing minutes later followed by a Kadabra.

"Alright Psy," the woman spoke to the psychic type. "We need you to penetrate into this Sneasel's mind and learn its story. We need to know about a Darkrai."

"Kadabra!"

Blade felt his blood run cold. Up until now he had been trying very hard not to show any fear in front of these humans. He started to hyperventilate. With a note of dread he felt the Kadabra place a paw on the crown of his head.

Every memory was forced to the surface, he was forced to endure everything again, all the pain, suffering, trauma all again in excruciating detail.

The restraints on Blade's claws made it impossible for him to wipe the tears from his eyes. They flowed diagonally down the side of his muzzle and onto his jaw, staining his blue fur.

All of it being viewed by the Kadabra, who had used its telekinetic powers to search through his head the way a human might flip through the pages of a book. And who had relayed what he had seen to Team Rocket.

"It looks like Blade and the Darkrai could have a complicated relationship judging from his memories," Kadabra had said. "There's a few memories of sex, some quite recent. But feeling Blade's emotions he seems quite conflicted. I think he may have feelings for that twerps Pikachu."

The woman raised an eyebrow. "Blade?"

"That's his name. The Darkrai is called Shadow."

"Ah. Did you get any sense that the Darkrai would attempt to help the Sneasel if he were in danger."

Kadabra shrugged. "Probably. He has done it before."

"Then I guess it's worth a shot." The woman turned to the other human; the scientist in the white coat. "Collar him…"

Those two words made Blade quiver in fear… 'C-collar?'

The collar consisted of a thin metal band attached to a heavy metal semi-sphere, which the scientist fastened around Blade's neck. The device fit snugly around the Sneasel, not tight enough to obstruct his breathing but definitely tight enough to prevent him getting it off. The way it fit around his neck, he'd never get used to it being there. It would be a constant reminder of who had captured him.

"There's a miniature Miniremo unit contained in the collar," she had explained. "When activated it will project an EM wave field that will affect Pokémon in the immediate vicinity, within about 20 yards. If Darkrai tries to come close to him, it'll be placed under our control…"

Blade was in a panicked state of mind hearing that. Tears streamed down his face. 'What if…..what if I never see him again, if I never get to see Shadow…..ever again….' The panic had him hyperventilating until he simply lost consciousness.

*The Next Day*

When Blade awoke he found himself chained to a wall on one of the buildings. He felt the chain on the collar connecting him to the wall. He noticed a water bowl was beside him. And occasionally a grunt would throw food at him, though that was rare for him.

Half way through the day he heard it.

"Blade…" The cold, but loving, telepathic voice filled the Sneasel's head. He experienced a simultaneous burst of happiness and relief in his chest, while at the same time a thrill of fear.

"Sh-shadow," he gasped, looking around for his lover. "Y-you're here. I can't see you."

"Just beyond the town wall." Shadow sounded, well unhappy was an understatement.

"Y-you can't be here," Blade felt panic fill him. "They have a…"

"Fret not dear Blade. I know about the collar," Shadow interrupted him. "Hence my remaining behind the wall." He sounded almost amused by Team Rocket's plan. "I'm not as stupid as Team Rocket thinks I am."

"Well that's a relief," said Blade. Though in truth he wasn't entirely sure how to feel.

"Well now Blade. It seems you've managed to get yourself into quite the predicament." Shadow tried to keep the conversation casual, he wanted to try to comfort Blade.

"Tell me about it," Blade murmured.

It was utterly humiliating. Not to mention uncomfortable. The two collars were extremely tight and were starting to dig into his fur. Blade had spent the first hour or so of his imprisonment trying to free himself – pulling and pulling at the chain to no avail, until eventually he'd been forced to accept his predicament.

But now though. "What's your plan?"

"My plan," Shadow repeated questioningly, causing Blade's heart to sink.

"T-to get me out of this mess." Blade sounded crippled by Shadow's response.

"Ah. Alas I am afraid I do not have one." Shadow had been hoping to avoid that truth, but it would seem not.

"What!"

"Well as you were trying to warn me. I can't approach you without coming into range of the Pokémon Control machine wrapped around your neck. I hope you appreciate the difficulty." Shadow had said it in a rather polite manner all things considered.

"B-b-but," Blade stuttered desperately. "You could use a move to break the chain. Teleport me."

"Not without getting close enough to be in range of that device. Well maybe since you don't know what its range is. That's a big risk for me to take." In truth Shadow had already considered it and deemed it too dangerous, if he was caught there would be no one to help Blade.

"S-s-so you're just going to leave me here." Blade sounded terrified by the prospect.

"I'm afraid so." Shadow hated having to tell him the truth.

The hope Blade had experienced when he'd heard Shadow's voice in his head had vanished, replaced by despair. He sniffled, closing his eyes and fighting back tears. "So that's it. You're just going to abandon me. I thought we were. I thought you cared about me."

"You know Blade I'm a little disappointed in you," said Shadow in a slightly mocking tone. "You managed to evade capture from the human police for so long, only to be captured by some kid. With a capture styler of all things." Shadow's attempt to lighten the mood through humor, well it wasn't exactly timed properly.

Blade felt a sense betrayal stab at him. "You saw that. And you didn't…"

"Did the kid promise to be your friend. Transmit his friendship to you. I thought you were tougher than that Blade."

Blade put his claws around his knees and squeezed his eyes closed tight. "F-fuck. W-why are you doing this to me. It's bad enough you're just going to leave me here. Why do you have to make fun of me?"

Shadow didn't respond. He had left already.

Instead Blade heard a different mocking voice shout, "Crying to your imaginary friend Sneasel!"

He opened his eyes to see a Mightyena, one of Team Rocket's Pokémon, grinning at him.

"FUCK OFF." He grabbed the water bowl and threw it at the hyena like Pokémon in a fit of rage. He missed.

Mightyena let out a long bark like laugh…

*With Shadow*

The darkrai slammed his head into a rock, several times until it began to crack then he fell onto his arms over a puddle. The monstrous visage he had once seen had grown darker, more rigid, sharper, and more terrifying.

"What the fuck is wrong with me!" He gazed at his reflection. "Why did you just stand there!? Why didn't you eviscerate that human when he caught Blade?!" He slammed his head into the ground. "Why did you make fun of him?!" Shadow took his own claw and stabbed himself in the gut, he had to make sure he could still feel, but the pain was numb. "Why did I…..let this happen again…" He stabbed himself again "you vile monster! How could you even consider doing that, how could you even consider taking out your on frustration on him…..you love him you fool." Shadow slumped against a rock wall as several tears dripped down his face. "I'm not even a monster anymore….I'm worse than that, to hurt the one I love most….I deserve to suffer! I deserve death, damnation, hellfire! I…I let them take him from me."

A single thought flashed through his mind, red cheeks, black tipped ears, and a thunderbolt tail…. "If Blade hadn't gone back to help that worthless rat, he wouldn't be in this situation, I wouldn't have hurt him I….." Shadow thought for a moment. "It's all his fault, he's responsible for why Blade has been captured, if Blade hadn't tried to save him from that capture styler he'd still be free!" Shadow slammed his claw into a wall.

Shadow lifted himself from the ground and sighed, closing his eye for a moment. When he opened it once more it was glowing a deep blood red shade.

"Hikari must die."
