Chapter 4

A few hours have passed ever since the… "accident". The Dreamchasers were forced to get out of the Night Bureau's headquarters, since the whole building went on lockdown.

That was how dangerous their friend was now, apparently.

Everyone was still quiet from the shock. And although they did not want to admit it, Agent Strick was right. Mateo really was changing.

The bad kind of changing.

All of them knew Mateo as a leader, who was full of good ideas and was at times cunning, calm, powerful and creative.

He was also a good friend… And a great brother.

The Dreamchasers wanted to show that to Ms. Strick, but Mateo's actions spoke loud enough.

And of all the time in the world he chose to break that stupid glass with his head in front of the Chief Inspector. He chose the perfect timing! Pretty much when that woman was right in front of him! Of us!

"What are we going to do now?" Izzie suddenly quietly spoke up, her fists clenched and red puffy eyes looking to the asphalt. Somehow she looked like she could fall down at any second, but still managed to keep up.

"I… I don't know. There's pretty much nothing we can really do now." Even Zoey sounded... helpless.

"So you mean that's it? You will let him go just like that?" Logan butted in. But quietly. That was very uncharacteristic for him.

"What do you suggest we do? The place is on lockdown and we don't even know where they re-put Mateo. We don't even know the layout of this place. We could get lost and captured and then what? Not to mention if we did succeed, he could attack us." Cooper started questioning Logan's 'plan'.

"What are you agents babbling there about? We don't have time for you dilly-dallying, only when we get you to the outside will we be able to go on full lockdown and protect everyone, so keep your little conversation to yourselves for now" Agent Strick's pacing increased.

"Um… I have a question. Where's Mr. Oz. and Albert?" Zoey tried to change the subject, so Chief Inspector wouldn't start interrogating them.

"Agent Oswald and Agent Albert are only doing their job. They are also kept in here as a safe measure to keep… that in."

"Hey! My brother is not an 'it'! He's still a human being! …Mostly…I think." Izzie tried defending her brother. This little remark of hers started a little conflict, a conflict that kept Agent Strick's focus away from Logan, Cooper and Zoey.

"So what's the plan, Logan? Man, I still can't believe I'm asking you…" Cooper asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"It's actually a great one-

"Maybe let's wait until we get outside, there are still cameras everywhere." Zoey pointed out the little problem.

"Yeah, you're right. I guess we're going to need to wait a little longer, only then can we act."
