Chapter 54: Containment Breach

Disclaimer: For anyone who has an issue with how damn near invincible Shadow is, I really don't care I did that on purpose.

Confinement was something Shadow had not experienced for a long time.

He was trapped inside a crystalline structure, somewhere beneath the earth itself. The place was dark, the only light coming from what appeared to be a series of towers surrounding him, each with a single yellow light at the top.

Despite everything, there was an odd comfort in the darkness. Yet that darkness did little to calm the storm inside him. 'Blade….is he safe….is he alright…..'

Shadow didn't know how he had come to be here. All he knew was the darkness of the cage. But, there was a stirring in his chest. It was as if Blade was calling him from so so far away. As though, Blade needed help.

And there was nothing that he could do about it…

Rage was building within him. He could see the guilty parties – and he would make sure that they would pay for their transgressions.

"And now behold the mighty Shadow. Legendary Darkrai whose maleficence strikes fear into the hearts of all who encounter it. Finally restrained, contained and helpless. His powers rendered useless by the forces of mankind."

"Who said that?" A light came on just in front of Shadow.

In it's light, a middle aged man, with a short beard, thick eyebrows and dark brown hair. He was dressed in a three-piece suit, grey in color, and sporting a red tie.

"Are you the one who has imprisoned me here…I warn you!"

And then something happened that had never happened to Shadow before. The man raised a hand to silence him and spoke over him. Despite the commanding nature of his voice, Shadow remained unphased, but simply listened, he wasn't yet able to escape. So he was in no rush.

"SILENCE…Your powers are no use here Darkrai. You cannot escape this prison. You have committed many; many egregious sins and it is high time that you were punished. Know that in this place, you are going to experience something of the suffering for which you have caused other."

'The suffering I have caused others. Laughable, a few hundred tortured deaths to end the suffering of one innocent life and my sins are unforgivable. Pitiful human, there are those who cause suffering for no reason more than their own enjoyment and personal gain. I am one, they are a legion worse than myself. But if my death is to come, it will, but I am not one to die easily.'

Shadow stared at him. Who did he think he was taking that tone. He glared at him with his single red eye and replied, "Oh I will not be your prisoner for long human. No prison can hold me. After all, such a deep-seated rage that is not my own simply cannot be ignored. Least of all when that rage is from my Blade. I warn you again. Release me, or you will become little more than a fine red mist."

"Ahh Blade," said the man. "The creature with whom you have shared…your perversions." He practically spat the last two words. I'm afraid you will not be seeing that particularly Sneasel again. Greif, longing and the pain of separation will be the price you pay for that particular sin…"

Shadow's eye seemed to grow darker, and yet the glow was more pronounced than ever before. Shadow hadn't yet felt such rage. And the rage only built more and more.

*Later*

Shadow could hear something in the distance, even beneath the ground. No, not underground. It was a voice in his own mind. 'Blade is hurt, he needs you….'

"There's nothing I can do yet." Shadow spoke aloud to himself.

'Listen to me you idiot he's in danger!'

"Until this sedative wears off I'm not going anywhere no matter how much I may want to." Shadow's voice was barely a whisper as though he himself didn't want to hear his words.

The voice spoke louder 'Can't you feel it!?'

"If you can feel it of course I can, you're my mind remember." Shadow wasn't pleased, and he began to wonder why he entertained the idea of talking to himself, it was just a side effect of the sedatives.

'Clearly not! Or you'd know what the little bastard did to Blade! You can see his memories, you can feel them, even from here and you know it! Do I have to spell it out for you, you imbecile! You'll be able to tell it's true when I tell you!'

"As if you have any room to call me an imbecile." Shadow spoke again, sighing. "Fine then tell me if it will get you to silence yourself."

'Good, cause once I tell you, all the adrenaline is going to override those worthless sedatives they're pumping into you.' The voice paused. 'Cleave. He raped Blade. You know you felt it, you could hear him crying out for help, you could feel his quivering whimpering form as he was tormented again. And if I've felt properly he's also just been kidnapp….'

The voice was cut off suddenly as voices were heard outside of Shadow's prison.

"Sir, the system is overloading!"

"Get control of it again, we need to keep him sedated"

An explosion was heard. "Sir, the consoles just shorted out, the readings are too high, we need to get out now!"

"No, we can't, not yet! Call security, get the tranquilizer guns! That Darkrai isn't getting out of here!"

As if to spite him the crystalline structure holding Shadow began to crack.

"Hurry up and get this shit working again!"

Suddenly the cracks in the crystal grew exponentially faster.

The voice in Shadows head may have vanished, but it was right, the adrenaline had him wide awake, even though sedatives we're still being pumped into his system, and the more awake he was the more angry he became. That feeling, that connection of memory, it wasn't a hallucination by his sedated mind, it was real. Cleave had done that to Blade. "To MY Blade!" The darkrai's voice boomed as the crystal shattered around him. And without hesitation he grabbed one of his captors by the head slamming him into a wall and smashing his skull open.

One tried to run, but Shadow grabbed them holding them against a wall as he pressed his three claws to their left eye and then began to pull it until he saw it pop out hanging by the optic nerve. The human began screaming. "My eye! Someone help please!" Shadow pulled the eye just a bit more until he tore it away from the nerve. He tossed the human to the ground and held their left eye directly in front of the right as he crushed it in the palm of his hand. He grabbed them by the face and slammed their head to the ground, holding them in eye contact with him.

'I'm gonna die….. I don't wanna die yet I have a family….' The human thought as he went to begging "please don't kill me I have a family! I have a wife! Two sweet daughters please! Don't kill me!"

Shadow covered his mouth and stared into his eye. "Then they can die with you!" Shadow pressed his palm to the man's face applying more and more pressure until his skull caved in splattering blood up the darkrai's arm.

Before Shadow could make another move he felt three darts puncture his back. He turned slowly, his eye glowing blood red as these humans began to reload their tranquilizers.

In a sudden burst Shadow pinned one to a wall and held their rifle away from them.

'That was my best friend, he splattered his head across the floor….oh God what have I gotten myself into.' The human began to beg as the last had. "Please! I'm sorry! Please don't hurt me! I don't want to die!"

Shadow gazed into her eyes as he put the barrel of the tranquilizer gun into her mouth and held her there with it. He could simply have fired the dart into her throat, but the Darkrai was feeling naturally sadistic. He pulled her from the wall forcing her to her knees. Pushing her head back, he slid the rifle barrel straight down her throat. She started to choke as he fed the barrel down her throat.

'Can't breathe, I…. can't…breathe it hur….' Her thoughts were interrupted as Shadow stabbed his claw into her stomach, gripping the tip of the rifle and bending it until it was visibly protruding from the wound he'd inflicted.

He dropped her writhing body as he took hold of another security officer seizing their weapon as well. The third officer took aim, but before they could fire Shadow had thrown the rifle in his hands, with such velocity that it punched through their torso, and through a steel beam trapping them in place.

He turned his attention to the now cowering security officer. He lifted them by the neck strangling them relentlessly.

'Why won't anyone help us! He's….brutalizing us! Why won't….anyone…..help us…..' the human opened their mouth preparing to try in vain to beg for their life. "Please do…."

Shadow seized them by the jaw. "I grow tired of your pitiful begging." Hooking one hand on their lower jaw and one on the upper jaw, Shadow began to pry their jaw open.

"Hleeeaaase! Don't do it!" They cried out in horror as the flesh of their mouth began to rip open, until finally it reached its breaking point, splitting open allowing Shadow to tear their skull from their jaw.

Before Shadow could react he was once again surrounded by more security officers. Heavily armed, and armored. Holding, no, they weren't tranquilizers. And there were twenty of these security officers.

"Hold the rest at the door, he isn't getting past us!"

Shadow let out a dark chuckle as the few lights in the underground facility flickered and went dark.

"The Chairman wants him alive, but has authorized live rounds so he can't escape. He wants this threat eliminated by any means necessary at this point."

There was suddenly light in the room, in hundreds of short bursts in every direction aiming directly at him. This must be what they meant by live rounds. Even with his incredible speed, Shadow could feel several holes punched into his body until the gunfire stopped. Shadow didn't much care for cheap tricks, but in the moment he fell to the ground. The room was bathed in light. One of the humans had used some sort of flare to illuminate the room.

"You three check his body, make sure we actually got him." One human called.

Within moments three humans were around Shadow's body.

"Sir, he's riddled with holes. He's not getting back up."

"At any rate let's move his body and clean this place up. The Chairman's gonna be furious."

As the three reached out to Shadow the flare died out.

"Hmhmhahahhahhahahahahahaaa" Shadow's laughter drowned everything out. A wave of dark energy filled the room. And in seconds the humans were seeing one, no two….three…seven….twelve….the room was filling with Shadow's as if he was multiplying before their eyes.

It was all an illusion, a nightmare brought to reality. Shadow was only one, even so the wild and terrified gunfire was a sight to behold. They were spraying in all directions hoping to kill Shadow, but it didn't stop him.

One was reloading his gun, when Shadow pulled the ammo belt to the man's face and forced the trigger down. The bullets fed into the gun acted like a serrated blade carving the man's mouth open until Shadow thrust his claw into the man's mouth, tearing his uvula out. Shadow turned facing another man and disappeared into the storm of Shadow's.

The next man he found was fiddling with a small round device until he managed to remove a small pin. "One….Two….three…" he tossed it into the crowd at three and it exploded at four. Shadow lifted the man to his feet as he grabbed one of the small explosives and forced it into his mouth, pulling the pin and holding the man to the wall.

Despite all the struggling his head exploded, coating the white plume of Shadows head in blood. He turned to another person lifting them by their neck and holding them as a shield as their comrades filled the body with lead.

Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat until they were all dead.

*At The Entrance Door Moments Prior*

Thirty Pokemon, thirty humans. The pokemon covered head to toe in heavy armor. The humans carrying more of those infernal guns. Only small sidearms, a great contrast to the heavily armored men and women who descended into the facility with machine guns and the like.

These humans and Pokemon were the last line of defense against the homicidal darkrai.

Even so, the fear was unbearable. After the first volley of gunfire it was silent. Everyone had breathed a sigh of relief, believing it to be over. But a sound pierced through the silence all the way to the door

"Hmhmhahahhahhahahahahahaaa" it was a hysterically sadistic cackle. It was Shadow. Over the next few minutes rapid gunfire and even explosions were heard. And the screams. Horrendous, endless, agony ridden screams. Then the silence took hold once more.

Seconds ticked on, everyone holding their gaze on the door. Suddenly it burst open. And without hesitation, each human and Pokemon let off a barrage of bullets and attacks. Once it ended, they sat for a moment, prepared to do so again. Until it became cold. Paralyzed by fear they watched the dust clear. And there he stood. Blood coating his entire body front to back. With barely a single scratch on him. No, there were several bullet holes in his body, and yet only a few. With the count he had only six holes, after all that gunfire. They only got him six times.

"Is it not interesting what fear can do. Even the most dangerous, most skilled creatures can fall without trouble. If they are afraid." He seemed to vanish before their eyes. Appearing behind one he simply whispered into their ear. "Boo."

To anyone who could hear it, it sounded like hell on earth, the screams, the pain, all of it. He slaughtered them all, each and every one, leaving nothing but mangled corpses on his wake.

"I will find a healer. Then, once my strength is restored, I shall save you…My Blade."
