Episode 458: The Galactic Bomb
Shortly after Lucas had his Gym battle against Crasher Wake and earned the Fen Badge from Crasher Wake, the group returned to the Pokémon Center and Lucas had Grotle, Luxray, and his newly evolved Floatzel healed from their past injuries. He looked over the Coal, Forest, Cobble, and Fen Badges he earned from each of the Gym Leaders he, Sora, and Roxas battled before.
Sora has exchanged Lilligant for his Shellos as Kairi has exchanged her Goodra for her own Shellos.
"Hard to believe I just need to earn four more Gym Badges. I'm half way done," Lucas said.
"Yeah, you are," Sora said, approaching Lucas. He sat down next to Lucas. "So now what? What do you plan to do?"
"Well, I thought about heading back to Hearthome City just so I could try and challenge Fantina again. I just don't wanna get my hopes up over nothing again," Lucas said.
"Yeah, it was hard for you to wait for that Gym battle, but your training should be able to pay off. Speaking of which, have you given so much thought about which Pokémon you'll be going with?" Sora asked.
"Since she uses Ghost-type Pokémon, I could just go with Dark-types. So, that would be Houndour, Murkrow, and Skorupi. I could have them train so much for it," Lucas said.
"Good thinking, Lucas," Sora said.
"Well, I got the idea mostly from you. Yoir Gible's Bite and Stunky being a Dark-type did the trick. But it was Rotom who came through in the end," Lucas said.
"Yeah. At least you have an idea on how to handle it," Sora said.
"Like I said, I got that idea from you. Just me and Roxas just need to earn the Relic Badge just so we can finally catch up with you," Lucas said.
"And I'd like that, Lucas. I'd rather have us be at it all at the same time. And maybe I could help you train for your Gym battle against her," Sora said.
"That'll be awesome," Lucas said.
Meanwhile, Roxas was thinking about his own strategy against Crasher Wake.
"Maybe an Electric-type Pokémon against Crasher first. Okay, there's Xipak. Then again, there's also Electivire, Magnezone, Jolteon, Electrike, Electrode, and Luxio. Gyarados can take it. And maybe, I could use Lombre since he can swim underwater, givng me an advantage, too. Gyarados, Quagsire, and Floatzel are nothing to cough at. I know that from watching Sora and Lucas battle against him. And now, it's my turn," Roxas said. He gave it some very deep thought and he chose his three Pokémon, Electrode, Lombre, and Grovyle against Crasher Wake.
"Looks like you made up your mind, huh, Roxas?" Lea asked.
"Yeah, I did. Crasher is going to be in for one heck of a battle against me," Roxas said.
"I know you're gonna do great in it. You've been training hard for it," Lea said.
"Yeah. And after I battle against Crasher, I think I'm gonna try Hearthome City again. Fantina is an opponent to contend with," Roxas said.
"We might not have seen you, but I know I won't miss it again," Lea said. "But I do remember she has a Mismagius, a Gengar, and a Driblim, so what's your plan against her?"
"That'll be Xipak, Umbreon, and my own Gengar. Driblim's a Flying-type as well, Xipak would be perfect against Driblim. And that leaves Umbreon and Gengar to deal with the other two," Roxas said.
"Well, don't get too ahead of yourself, buddy, because you gotta beat Crasher first," Lea said, reminding Roxas of his upcoming Gym battle.
"Yeah, you're right, Lea. How about we train for it?" Roxas suggested.
"You didn't need to ask, buddy," Lea said.
With that said, Roxas and Lea started to train for Roxas's battle against Crasher Wake.
As for Sora, he decided to do some training of his own, so he sent out Skorupi for some training of his own.
"Okay, Skorupi Poison Fang!" Sora ordered. Skorupi lands a Poison Fang on a Dusk dummy. "Use Poison Jab!" The Scorpion Pokémon lands a hit onto a Shadow dummy. "Okay, use X-Scissor!" Skorupi uses X-Scissor on a Soldier. "Keep it up!" Skorupi lands a series of hits with Poison Jab and Poison Fang on a Bruiser dummy. Skorupi lands one more X-Scissor. After doing some serious training, Skorupi began to evolve. Skorupi had become a Drapion. "Hey, you evolved. All that training did great for you."
'Drapion," the newly evolved Drapion said, smiling.
Meanwhile, Kairi was doing her own training as Finneon was swimming in a pool at the Pokémon Center.
"Finneon! Use Aqua Ring and then Silver Wind!" Kairi ordered. Finneon forms an aquatic ring around herself and then blew a Silver Wind forward. "Use Dazzling Gleam!" Finneon unleashed a Dazzling Gleam. "Great job!"
"Finneon!" Finneon said as she began to evolve.
"You're evolving!" Kairi said. Finneon has become a Lumineon. "You're a Lumineon. You're so beautiful."
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Lumineon," Lumineon said.
Sora and Kairi had their own evolutions both at once, and it should be interesting.
Meanwhile, a Team Galactic grunt is wearing a trenchcoat and a pair of sunglasses. A waiter approached the table.
"What can I do for you, sir?" The waiter asked.
"I'll have a strawberry-banana milkshake with chocolate sprinkles," the Team Galactic grunt said.
"Of course," the waiter said as he nodded. He left his side for a few moments before he came back with his order. Just then, he found a small device in the milkshake and he played it.
"I arrived to the destination as requested. What is the mission?" The Team Galactic grunt asked. It's revealed to be a hologram of Saturn.
"You will be heading for Pastoria City. There, you will receive a package. We have someone on the inside. Just say you're picking it up for Mr. John Doe, and you will receive it," Saturn said.
"Understood. I'll depart for Pastoria City at once," the Team Galactic grunt said. He paid for the milkshake and took his leave.
Unknown to anyone, a woman is sitting at the table behind the Team Galactic grunt when she was sitting. She was reading a newspaper. Just when he knew the grunt was gone, she took out her Rotom Phone.
"It's me. Team Galactic is making their move," the woman said.
"Where is Team Galactic heading?" A man's voice asked.
"Pastoria City. He's heading there to pick up a package for a John Doe," the woman said.
"Whatever that package is, it can't be good. Keep an eye on him and report his movements," the voice said.
"Roger," the woman said, hanging up as she took her leave.
The man on the other end of the phone is Looker as he's still on Team Galactic's trail. He had been looking into Team Galactic's recent activities.
"What is it you're after, Team Galactic?" Looker asked.
On the next morning, the Team Galactic grunt stepped into the Pastoria City post office, still wearing his disguise. He approached the front desk where a woman with long finger nails and a bad hairdo is sitting in her stool.
"May I help you, sir?" The woman asked.
"I'm here to pick up a package for a Mr. John Doe," the Team Galactic grunt said.
"Right," the woman said as she nodded. She went to the back and picked up the package. "Mr. Doe's package."
"Thanks," the Team Galactic grunt said, taking his leave of the post office. He took out a small device and a hologram of Saturn activates. "The package is in my possession."
"Good. Head for the Great Marsh and await further instruction," Saturn said.
"Sir," the Team Galactic grunt said as he turns off the hologram and started to head for the Great Marsh.
Meanwhile, the group made it back to the Pastoria City Gym as Roxas was having his turn to battle against Crasher Wake.
"The Gym battle between the Gym Leader Crasher Wake and the challenger Roxas from Pallet Town is about to begin! Each Trainer will be using three Pokémon each! During the match, only the challenger will be allowed to substitute Pokémon! The battle is over when all three Pokémon are all unable to battle! Choose your first Pokémon and begin!" The referee announced. Crasher Wake took out his first Pokéball and threw it.
"Gyarados! On the water!" Crasher Wake called out. His Pokéball opened and Gyarados emerged from inside, ready to battle. Roxas took out his and threw it.
"Go! Electrode!" Roxas called out. His Electrode emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"He's starting things up with an Electrode, huh?" Amy asked.
"Electrode?" Dawn asked, taking out her Rotom Phone and scanned it.

Electrode has been known as the Bomb Ball. It stores up static electricity inside its spherical body. Even the slightest shock could trigger an explosion.
"Talking about an explosive personality," Dawn said.
"Begin with your Dragon Rage!" Crasher Wake ordered. Gyarados fired Dragon Rage at the Ball Pokémon.
"Dodge it, Electrode!" Roxas called out. Electrode rolls out of the way before Electrode could hit it. "Use Rollout!" Electrode rolls right toward the Atrocious Pokémon on the mark. Electrode rolls right at Gyarados again, dealing some heavier damage.
"It's good for Roxas is starting out with Rollout. It deals more damage each time it hit!" Meiko said.
"Meowth," Little Mei said.
"Not only that, but Rollout is a Rock-type move and Gyarados is partly a Flying-type, and it's common knowledge Flying-type Pokémon are vulnerable to Rock-types," Izzy said.
"Good thinking, Roxas," Lea said.
"Crasher's Gyarados may put up with Electric-type attacks, but let's see how it handles Rock-types," Roxas said.
"Gyarados! Underwater!" Crasher Wake ordered. Gyarados dove underwater to avoid Electrode's Rollout.
"Gyarados has got to come out sometime," Roxas said in his thoughts.
"Use Bite!" Crasher Wake ordered. Gyarados emerged from the water to land a bite.
"Dodge it!" Roxas called out. Electrode tried to dodge, but Gyarados came too fast for the Ball Pokémon to dodge. "That Gyarados came so fast. Keep your eyes opened, Electrode."
"Trode," Electrode said. Electrode does exactly that as Gyarados came out behind Electrode.
"Right behind you! Spark!" Roxas ordered. Electrode's body gave off static electricity and lands a hit onto the Atrocious Pokémon. "Now, Rollout!" Electrode lands a hit onto Gyarados, resulting in a knockout.
"Gyarados is unable to battle! Electrode wins!" The referee announced.
"And Roxas is in the lead!" Tai said.
"Yeah, and we know which ones are next," Davis said. Crasher Wake called Gyarados back and smiled.
"Thank you, Gyarados. You battled well. You've earned a good, long rest," Crasher Wake said. He took out another Pokéball. "You've done well, Roxas. When I first saw you send out your Electrode, I assumed you would come at with a full-forced Electric-type attack, but you proved me wrong when you had your Electrode use Rollout instead. But my next one won't be so easily beaten." He threw it. "Quagsire! On the water!" His Pokéball opened and his Quagsire came out to battle.
"I was hoping you'd send out Quagsire out next!" Roxas said, calling back Electrode and took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Lombre! You're going in!" His Pokéball opened and Lombre came out to battle.
"Now, Roxas is using Lombre," Amy said.
"And I figure why. Crasher isn't the only one who can use the water to his advantage. Roxas thought he could make good use of it as well," Lucas said.
"That's actually pretty smart," Lyra said.
"Marill," Marill said.
"Not only that, but after watching Lucas the last time, this gave him an idea," Xion said.
"Okay, Lombre! In the water!" Roxas called out. Lombre jumped in the water.
"Quagsire, in the water!" Crasher Wake called out. Quagsire jumped in the water. Quagsire and Lombre stare at each other. "You're planning to turn this into a water battle, I see. But you should know that I have the home field advantage!"
"Yeah, but I can make it work! Lombre! Use Megical Leaf!" Roxas ordered. Lombre unleashed a Magical Leaf, landing a hit onto Quagsire. "Great hit, Lombre!"
"Lombre!" Lombre said.
"Now, use Surf!" Roxas ordered. Lombre manipulates the water and it raises up, bringing it down with the Water Fish Pokémon with it. The wave crashed against a wall as Quagsire was now knocked out from the massive water attack.
"Quagsire is unable to battle! Lombre wins!" The referee announced.
"Crasher's down to one left!" May said.
"And we all know what that one is going to be," Sora said. Everyone nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, the Team Galactic grunt arrived to the Great Marsh and he opened the package and took out a device with the Team Galactic logo on the front.
"The higher-ups must want to test thing here. Better set it," the Team Galactic grunt said.
Back at the Pastoria City Gym, he called back his Quagsire.
"You battled well, Quagsire. Get yourself a good rest," Crasher Wake took out one more Pokéball and threw it. "And now, I'm sending out Floatzel! On the water!" His Pokéball opened and Floatzel came out to battle.
"You still good to go, Lombre?" Roxas asked.
"Bre," Lombre nodded.
"Great! Use Magical Leaf!" Roxas ordered. Lombre unleashed a Magical Leaf at Floatzel, but he inflates his floatation sacs and the leaves bounced off. "Okay, use Surf!" Lombre unleashed a Surf and sent it right at Floatzel.
"Use Whirlpool!" Crasher Wake ordered. Floatzel lets out a Whirlpool and uses it to cancel out Lombre's Surf. The Jolly Pokémon then started to fall. "Use Ice Fang!" Floatzel lands an icy bite onto Lombre, freezing Lombre.
"No! Lombre's frozen solid!" Roxas exclaimed.
"Now, finish Lombre with Razor Wind!" Crasher Wake ordered. Floatzel lands a hit with Razor Wind, resulting in a knockout.
"Lombre is unable to battle! Floatzel wins!" The referee announced. Roxas called back Lombre.
"You did your best, Lombre. Get some rest," Roxas said. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Electrode! Back to action!" His Pokéball opened and Electrode came out to battle. "Use Rollout!" Electrode began rolling and dashed right at Floatzel, landing a hit. Electrode made some more hits onto Floatzel again and again.
"Razor Wind!" Crasher Wake ordered. Floatzel lands a Razor Wind, landing a hit. "Use Whirlpool!" Floatzel forms up a whirlpool and lands a hit onto the Ball Pokémon. Electrode has taken some heavy damage from Floatzel's Whirlpool. "Finish off Electrode with Ice Fang!" Electrode is struck by Floatzel's Ice Fang, knocking Electrode out. Electrode then explodes, damaging Floatzel. Electrode fell backwards.
"Electrode is unable to battle! Floatzel wins!" The referee announced.
"That looks like that did a lot of damage on Floatzel," Lucas said.
"What was that just now? Did Electrode use Explode or Self-Destruct when knocked out?" Dawn asked.
"No, it was ability called Aftermath," Wes said.
"Aftermath?" Dawn asked.
"It's Electrode's Hidden ability. When a Pokémon with Aftermath with this ability is struck by physical move as the finisher, then it does a quarter of damage to that Pokémon, and that's what did the deed," Wes explained.
"The damage might have been minimal, but it's there," Sora said. Roxas called back his Electrode and took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Okay, Grovyle! Go!" Roxas called out. Grovyle emerged from inisde, ready to battle. "Okay, Floatzel has taken some damage from Electrode's Aftermath, so Grovyle should get the job done."
"Floatzel! Ice Fang!" Crasher Wake ordered. Floatzel lunged at the Wood Gecko Pokémon with an Ice Fang.
"Dodge and use Energy Ball!" Roxas ordered. Grovyle dodged Floatzel's attack and fired its Energy Ball on Floatzel's back, dealing some heavy damage. Roxas then realized that has to be Floatzel's weak spot. "Hey, that's it."
"Floatzel! Use Razor Wind!" Crasher Wake ordered.
"Dodge that and use Leaf Blade on Floatzel's back!" Roxas ordered. Grovyle dodges Floatzel's attack and lands a Leaf Blade onto Floatzel's back.
"That actually worked," May said.
"It sure did! It was a genius move to make!" Izzy said.
"What makes you say that, Izzy?" Dawn asked.
"As you know, Floatzel's floatation sacs are really thick, so he saw a way around it. Instead of attacking Floatzel in the front, he had Grovyle attack in the back," Izzy said.
"Wow, I wouldn't have thought of that," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Me neither," Lucas said.
"Okay, Grovyle! Keep it up!" Roxas said.
"Grovyle!" Grovyle said as it heads for Floatzel again.
"Floatzel! Razor Wind!" Crasher Wake ordered. Grovyle unleashed another Razor Wind and it struck Floatzel on the mark. "Now, use Ice Fang!" Floatzel came at the Wood Gecko with an Ice Fang.
"Dodge it and use Leaf Blade!" Roxas ordered. Grovyle dodges Floatzel's Ice Fang and lands a hit with a Leaf Blade on the back. "Now, use Energy Ball!" Grovyle unleashes an Energy Ball. Grovyle fired it right at the Sea Weasel Pokémon, dealing some damage on him.
"This battle is becoming interesting. My other two opponents never thought of this strategy. I am very impressed," Crasher Wake said in his thoughts. He called out loud, "Now, Floatzel! Use Whirlpool!" Floatzel unleashed another Whirlpool.
"Grovyle! Dodge it and use Aerial Ace!" Roxas ordered. Grovyle dodged Floatzel's Whirlpool and lands a hit with Aerial Ace, dealing some damage on Floatzel's back. "Leaf Blade!" Grovyle lands one more Leaf Blade onto Floatzel's back. It was enough to bring the Sea Weasel Pokémon down.
"Floatzel is unable to battle! Grovyle wins! The winner is Roxas from Pallet Town!" The referee announced.
"Way to go, Roxas!" TK cheered along with the rest of the group.
"I knew you could do it, buddy," Lea said. Crasher Wake called back his Floatzel and smiled.
"You battled hard, Floatzel. Well done," Crasher Wake said as he approached Roxas. "You battled hard, Roxas. The way you executed your movements and taking advantage of Floatzel's weak spots were excellent. As proof of your victory, I present you the Fen Badge!" He presents Roxas the Fen Badge.
"Thanks, Crasher. It was worth it," Roxas said.
"Yes, it was," Crasher Wake agreed.
After the battle, the group returned to the Pokémon Center to heal up Roxas's Pokémon. Roxas was given some sea salt ice cream as a celebratory treat by Lea.
"You were awesome out there, Roxas. Now, you got four Gym Badges," Sora said.
"Thanks, Sora. I'm thinking of heading to Hearthome ahead of time," Roxas said.
"Really, Roxas?" Sora asked.
"Yeah, there would be a strong possibility that she'd be there when I get there, and takes off when you get there," Roxas said.
"Yeah, you're right. And there's a chance either Kairi or Dawn would have Pokémon Contest anyway," Sora said.
"And what about your next Gym battle, Sora?" Roxas asked.
"I think I can answer that," Riku said, showing up. "Just got word that the next Gym is in Canalave City," Riku said.
"Canalave City. Got it," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"So what's the call?" Riku asked.
"We're gonna have to put Canalave City on hold until Lucas and Roxas have each earned a Relic Badge from Fantina. That'll give me plenty of time to get ready for it," Sora said.
"That's really considerate of you, Sora," Roxas said.
"Pikachu," Xipak said.
Over to the Great Marsh, the Team Galactic grunt activated the bomb and pushed it into the water. The bomb then started to glow and then it exploded.
Back at the Pokémon Center, the whole building began to rumble, making everything shake.
"Whoa!" Sora exclaimed.
The rumble then ceased as the patrons all murmored among themselves, wondering what just happened.
"Was that an earthquake or something?" Roxas asked.
"I don't think it was one," Riku said.
A little while later, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Roxas, Naminé, Lea, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Chase, Elaine, Lucas, Dawn, Wes, Rui, Michael, Pikachu, Angel, Eevee, Azurill, Xipak, Celeste, Marill, Volt, Maple, and Piplup stepped out of the Pokémon Center as Crasher Wake came running.
"Crasher, what's going on?" Sora asked.
"It had to come from the Great Marsh! So I came running to investigate," Crasher Wake said.
"Think we can tag along?" Ash asked.
"Sure. I was heading there anyway," Crasher Wake said as they head for the Great Marsh. Upon arriving, they saw how minimal the damage was.
"Damage doesn't look so bad, but still..." Chase paused.
"Chu," Volt said.
"Who could do such a thing?" Rui asked.
"You don't think it could be Hunter J looking for some Pokémon to sell?" Dawn asked.
"If it was, don't you think we'd see her or her thugs by now?" Kairi asked.
"Kairi's right. It could be someone else," Sora said. And he saw the Team Galactic grunt running through the Great Marsh.
"If that guy doesn't look suspicious, then I don't know who does," May said.
"He's gotta be the one responsible for this!" Lyra said.
"We gotta go after him!" Sora said.
With that said, the group went after the Team Galactic grunt.
"Stop!" Crasher Wake shouted. Hearing the Gym Leader's voice he yelped and started to run. They chase after the Team Galactic grunt through the swampy terrain. He ran until Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Chase, Elaine, Lucas, Dawn, Wes, Rui, Michael, Marill, Volt, Maple, and Piplup cut off his retreat as Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Roxas, Xion, Lea, and Crasher Wake were right in front of him.
"Whoever you are, you're trapped!" Sora said.
"You got nowhere to run!" Lea said.
"That's what you think!" The Team Galactic grunt said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Golbat!" His Pokéball opened and a Golbat came out. Sora and Kairi each took out a Pokéball. They threw the Pokéballs in their hands.
"Shellos! Go!" Sora and Kairi called out. Both Pokéballs opened as their Shellos came out to battle. "Water Gun!" The two Shellos fired their Water Guns at the Bat Pokémon, dealing double damage.
"Don't take that lying down! Use Air Cutter!" The Team Galactic grunt ordered. Golbat unleashed an Air Cutter hitting the two Sea Slug Pokémon. "Now, use Wing Attack!" Golbat smacked them both with Wing Attack.
"Shellos!" Kairi gasped.
"Stay strong, Shellos," Sora said.
They managed to get back up as they both started to evolve.
"They're evolving!" Michael said. Both Shellos have both become Gastrodon.
"Gastrodon!" Sora and Kairi said in unison.
"Sora's Shellos is an East Sea form and Kairi's a West Sea form," Ash said.
"Let's try something new, Kairi," Sora suggested to his girlfriend.
"Yeah, we should," Kairi said.
"Water Pulse!" Sora and Kairi ordered. Both Gastrodon unleashed a Water Pulse, hitting Golbat and making it fall on the Team Galactic grunt. His disguise fell off him. He called back his Golbat and got up.
"That guys's from Team Galactic!" Brendan said.
"Suspicion confirmed," Lea said.
"What was that occurred a little while ago?" Crasher Wake asked.
"Even if I explained myself, I doubt you fools would understand!" The Team Galactic grunt said, taking out a smoke bomb and tossed it to the ground. It let out some smoke, making everyone cover their mouths, not wanting to breathe in the smoke. Once it cleared, he was gone.
"Where did he go?" Ethan asked.
"I don't know. He must have escaped into the water just so we couldn't track him," Wes said.
And Wes was right. He came out from the water and made contact.
"I did what you instructed me to do, but it wasn't so powerful," the Team Galactic grunt reported.
"That Galactic Bomb we gave you was only a prototype. The real one is in development as we speak and it will be ready soon," Saturn said.
"That's good to know," the Team Galactic grunt said.
After dealing with the Team Galactic grunt, they returned to the Pokémon Center to rest up. The DigiDestined teams were shocked to hear about Team Galactic at it again. And what got them was when he escaped.
On the next morning, Roxas, Xion, Lea, Tai, Matt, Sora T, Izzy, Mimi, Joe, TK, Kari, Davis, Ken, Yolei, Cody, Amy, Meiko, Xipak, Celeste, and Little Mei took off for Hearthome City for Roxas's second attempt to battle Fantina. The rest of the group went their own way. Riku, Naminé, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Chase, Elaine, Eevee, Azurill, Marill, Volt, and Maple went with Takato, Henry, Rika, Ryo, Jeri, Kazu, Kenta, Suzie, Takuya, Koji, JP, Zoe, Tommy, Koichi, Guil, Mime Jr, and Munchlax to meet them in Canalave City. That leaves Sora, Kairi, Lucas, Dawn, Wes, Rui, Michael, Pikachu, Angel, and Piplup.
They begin to head for Hearthome City to meet up with Roxas and the others in Hearthome City. But they could be in for some other adventures coming up, so stay tuned.
