It wears white gloves on its large, long-fingered hands, which are not directly connected to the Heartless's body and can be "thrown" at enemies. A few holes in the coat expose the creature's ribcage. Its Heartless emblem is printed on the front of its coat. The Heartless's spherical head sports a jagged mouth and two yellow eyes with black spirals in them. Its right eye hangs down from its socket, attached to its head by a silver chain. Another is a humanoid creature clad in a white coat with black cuffs. It wears pale yellow gloves with pink fingertips, causing them to resemble actual hands on its large, long-fingered hands, which are not directly connected to the Heartless's body and can be "thrown" at enemies. A few holes in this coat expose the creature's ribcage. Its Heartless emblem is printed on the front of its coat. Its black, spherical head sports a jagged, red mouth and two yellow eyes with black spirals in them. Its right eye hangs down from its socket, attached to its head by a silver chain. This Heartless is known as the Living Pod.

The Heartless started to scare off some the Pokémon living in the area. Before long, they were taking over the area.

On the very next morning, we open up to the fifth day of the Pokémon Summer Academy, and Sora, Kairi, Lucas, Dawn, Angie, and the rest of their team are sitting in their desks. The score shows the Blue Team has a score of 250 points, the Red Team has a score of 190 points, and the Green Team shows they have a core of 150 points. Professor Rowan then makes an announcement to the whole campus.

"This is Principal Rowan! Today's activities will deal with the proper way to interact with Ghost-type Pokémon! The goal of this program is to ensure that you will be able to correctly approach Ghost-type Pokémon, whenever or wherever you encounter them! Of course, your instructors will fill you in on all the details," Professor Rowan announced.

"And now let's go over our rules! After each of you teams up with a fellow classmate, you will both go together and retrieve this medal located in the Summit Ruins!" Professor Rowan's assistant said as he held up a medal. "Your final score will be based on how long it takes you. The event begins tonight at seven sharp, so for now your job is to find a partner!"

"It sounds more like a test of courage," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Yeah, I get it," Dawn said.

"Well, we got until seven tonight to figure out who we'll be paired with, Pikachu," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

After learning of the rules of the event, everyone got out to the campus to find a partner. Dawn and Piplup approaches Kairi and Angel.

"Kairi, I was wondering if you and I can be paired up with each other," Dawn said.

"Piplup," Piplup said.

"Sure, Dawn. We can pair up," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"But won't Sora mind?" Dawn asked.

"It was Sora's idea. He suggested I team up with you since we're friends," Kairi said.

"I'd like that," Dawn said, smiling. Just then, a muscular boy approached the two girls, flexing his muscles.

"Wouldn't one of you lovely ladies rather be paired up with someone like me?" The muscular boy asked.

"Not gonna happen, Kendall," Dawn said.

"Ah," Kendall sighed.

Sora was thinking as he crossed his arms.

"Since Kairi isn't going to be my partner, who would it be? Maybe Lucas or Angie would be interested," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Um, Sora?" A boy's voice timidly asked. Sora turned to see a boy with orangish-brown hair. He wore a light blue shirt, gray shorts, and blue shoes.

"Hey, Mitchell. What's up?" Sora asked.

"Well, the thing is, I'm kinda, sorta scared of the dark, so I was wondering if I could be your partner," Mitchell requested.

"Not a problem. I'll be your partner," Sora said.

"Thanks so much, Sora. That's great!" Mitchell said.

Over to Lucas, he sees Sora, Kairi, and Dawn paired up with a partner.

"Okay, everyone else is paired up, so it's going to be my turn," Lucas said.

"Hey, Lucas," Angie said, approaching Lucas. "Since you're not paired with Dawn, I figured you and I can be partners," Angie said.

"Fine with me, Angie," Lucas said.

"We'll mop the floor with every last one of those guys!" Angie said.

"Yeah!" Lucas said.

Meanwhile, Conway is walking, thinking about who he should be paired with.

"Hmm. I really should choose my partner," Conway pondered. He heard the sound of laughter. Conway saw a hand waving from the bushes. Conway approaches the owner of the hand. It belonged to a little girl wearing a yellow dress with orange pockets, and a pair of sandals. "You're on the blue team too and you don't have a partner?"

"Hi, let's play together," the little girl said as her eyes gave off a dark pink glow. Conway's eyes turned dark pink and then turned lifeless.

"Okay," Conway said in a hypnotic tone.

Meanwhile, a pair of teenage boys are watching the campus from binoculars.

"Looks like those kiddies are heading out to observe some Ghost-type Pokémon. Dude, we are so gonna scare them bad. We'll be all like 'Boo!' And they'll be like 'Aah! A ghost!' And we'll be all like 'We're gonna haunt you!' It'll be awesome!" One of the teenage boys said.

"I don't know, man. That's one of Professor Rowan's research places. He's going to be pissed if he catches us," the other teenage boy said.

"Dude, stop being such a stick in the mud? I mean, where's your sense of humor? It's not like we're hurting them or nothing. It's just harmless fun. Besides, what's the worse that could happen?" The first teenage boy asked.

"Well, he could call the police over to us and have us arrested and then having our parents called on us. You know what my mom is like when she gets mad. She's gonna yell at me so loud, even an Exploud would end up with a sore throat. That's the worse that could happen? You remember when we were caught stealing sodas from the vending machine that one time?" The second teenage boy asked.

"Oh, like they were gonna miss those sodas," the first teenage boy scoffed.

"Dude, you were bashing it with a baseball bat!" The second teenage boy said.

"I remember you hitting the vending machine along with me," the first teenage boy said.

"Only because you wouldn't stop taunting me until I gave in! The only reason I get in trouble along with you is because I listened to you! I know it seems to be a joke to you, but not me! We're gonna get caught and we're gonna get punished!" The second boy said.

"Look, I am not gonna let you wuss out tonight! If you don't like it, then it's tough noogies on you! Me, I'm going for it, and so are you! I really don't care if you don't like it!" The first teenage boy said. The second teenage boy didn't like doing it, but he had no choice but to go along with it.

Later that night, it was almost 7 PM and all of the participants gathered for the activity to begin. The Red Team stood at their starting line.

"Alright, the Red Team will be departing through the red gate! The Blue and Green Teams will be leaving from a different location! However, rest assured they're all the same distance from the ruins! So let's get rolling" Professor Rowan's assistant said.

"Alright, first team! Pair up with your partners and get on your marks!" A staff member said.

"That number one spot is good as ours!" Lucas said.

"You bet, Lucas!" Angie said.

"Shinx!" Shinx said.

"Don't your eggs before they hatch, you two," Dawn said.

How do you know we won't take it ourselves?" Kairi asked.

"Eevee!" Angel said.

"Piplup!" Piplup said.

Professor Rowan looked at his watch and it reaches 7:00.

"Begin!" Professor Rowan's assistant said as Sora, Pikachu, and Mitchell went in the area in teams of two.

Sora, Mitchell, and Pikachu were walking in, each holding a flashlight and held it.

"The forest sure looks creepy at night. It's no wonder Ghost-type Pokémon come lurking around," Sora said.

"Y-Yeah," Mitchell said.

"But, it's nothing we can't handle. Is that right, Pikachu?" Sora asked.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"That's what I thought," Sora said.

"At least I know I'll feel safe with you around, Sora," Mitchelle said.

"Yeah? Why's that?" Sora asked.

"Well, I heard from Lucas that you're really brave. He told me about how you're not afraid of anything. He even told me about how you stood up to Pokémon Hunter J, and she's a scary lady," Mitchell said.

"You really think that about me, Mitchell?" Sora asked.

"Yeah. The reason I'm paired up with you is because I wanna feel brave when I'm with you," Mitchell said.

"Don't sell yourself short, Mitchell. I'm sure you're much braver than you think you are. You just gotta think positive and believe in your own strength," Sora said.

"Think positive and believe in my own strength," Mitchell said.

Back at the starting line, Kairi, Dawn, Angel, and Piplup were going in next.

"Next time, please make your marks," the staff member said.

"You ready to go, Dawn?" Kairi asked.

"No need to worry, Kairi. I'm ready," Dawn said.

"Piplup!" Piplup said.

"Eevee!" Angel said.

With that said, the girls and the two Pokémon went on into the forest for the activity.

"Okay, next team. You're up," the staff member said, gesturing to Lucas and Angie.

"Come on, Lucas! Let's mop the floor with the competition," Angie said.

"You got it," Lucas said.

With that said, Lucas, Angie, and Shinx went on into the forest.

Over to Kairi, Dawn, Angel, and Piplup walked through the woods, each holding a flashlight of their own.

"Doesn't feel weird not being paired with Sora?" Dawn asked.

"Well, this isn't the first time I competed with Sora in something," Kairi said.

"Yeah? And what would that be?" Dawn asked.

"That would be in the Tour de Alto Mare chariot race. I entered with my Corsola, Sora entered with his Azumarill, Riku entered with his Poliwrath, Ash entered with his Kingdra, Kris entered with Wani-Wani, Lyra entered with Marill, Ethan entered with his Remoraid, and Leaf entered with her Dewgong," Kairi said.

"Wow, that sounds awesome. That was during your journey in Johto, right?" Dawn asked.

"Yeah. It was after Sora and Ethan each won a Rising Badge from Blackthorn City's Gym Leader and we were on our way toward New Bark Town to prepare for the Johto Pokémon League. I ended up winning the race over a Trainer named Ross who has a Wailmer. Sora was taken off course just when he was in first place. Something was carrying Azumarill and then took that wrong turn," Kairi said.

"No wonder he lost the race," Dawn said.

"Yeah, but he wasn't too sore about losing since we were gonna share the prize anyway," Kairi said. A Haunter's hand reaches for Angel's tail and grabbed her.

"Eevee!" Angel shrieked. Kairi, Dawn, and Piplup saw the hand, so Piplup fired a Bubble Beam at the hand, forcing it to let go.

"Are you okay, Angel?" Kairi asked.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Thanks for helping, Piplup," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said, thanking the Penguin Pokémon.

"Piplup," Piplup proudly said.

"Where did that come from?" Dawn asked as Kairi shines the light on a Gastly, a Haunter, and a Gengar living in the forest.

"A Gastly, a Haunter, and a Gengar. Luckily, I came prepared," Kairi said, taking out some Pokémon food and placed it in front of them. "Here you go." The three Ghost-types went over to the Pokémon food and began eating it.

"They certainly like it," Dawn said.

"Well, that Pokémon food is made especially for Ghost-type Pokémon. That should make them happy," Kairi said.

With that said, Kairi, Dawn, Angel, and Piplup moved on. A few moments later, Lucas, Angie, and Shinx show up.

"There's something about walking in the forest at night. Reminds me of what you see in the scary movies," Lucas said.

"Just let me know when you get scared, Lucas and I'll keep you safe," Angie said.

"Same goes for you, okay? Don't go running off on me. And keep your eyes peeled for Heartless since I'll deal with those," Lucas said.

"After what happened the other day, I'll take your word for it," Angie said. They stopped when they hear the sound of chewing. "You hear that?"

"Yeah, it sounded close," Lucas said.

"Shinx, Shinx," Shinx said.

They looked around and they saw Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar eating the Pokémon food and enjoying it.

"A Gastly, a Haunter, and a Gengar," Angie said.

"Yeah, and it looks like they're eating the Pokémon food Kairi made. We can walk by them and they won't notice us," Lucas said.

Over to the Blue Team's starting line, the last of the Blue Team was setting off.

"Okay, last team, depart!" A female staff member said.

"We're off," the students said, setting off. Just then, a girl ran up.

"I'm sorry I'm late! I must have dozed off!" The girl said.

"What do you mean? All ten of the Blue Team already took off for the ruins," the female staff member said, pointing in the direction of the ruins," the female staff member said.

"But you can see that I'm not," the girl said.

"It might be possible we have an extra student we don't know about. I better bring this to the professor's attention at once," the female staff member said.

Meanwhile, over to Kairi, Dawn, Angel, and Piplup, they were still walking when Angel's ears perked up when she heard the sound of laughter.

"Eevee?" Angel asked. Kairi, Dawn, and Piplup stopped when she did.

"What's wrong with Angel?" Dawn asked.

"She must have heard something," Kairi said.

"Yeah, but what?" Dawn asked. The girls looked around, thinking it might be more Ghost-type Pokémon, Heartless, Nobodies, or Unversed. Instead, they saw Conway walking through the woods in a hypnotic state. "Huh? That looks like Conway."

"Yeah, but what's he doing here alone? I thought he'd be paired up with someone by now," Kairi said.

"So did I, but where is he going?" Dawn asked.

"We better follow him and find out," Kairi said.

"Good idea," Dawn agreed. They started to run up to Conway.

"This way. Right over here," the girl said.

"Okay. Right over here," Conway said. Conway followed the girl right toward a cliff. The girl walks on air and then turned around and gestures him to come.

"This way," the girl said.

"Okay," Conway said. Just then, a Dusknoir's hand reaches out for Conway, snapping him out of it. When he was snapped out of his hypnosis, he looked around and he looked down. He screamed in horror when he saw where he was, so Dusknoir pulled him back. "You scared me." He looked up and saw the Gripper Pokémon in front of him. He screamed again before he fainted. Dusknoir looked up to the girl and she gave off a scowl before she vanished. Kairi, Dawn, Angel, and Piplup showed up and they all gasped.

"What is that?!" Dawn gasped.

"It's a Dusknoir!" Kairi said.

"Eevee!" Angel also gasped. Dawn took out her Rotom Phone and scanned it.

Dusknoir, the Gripper Pokémon

The evolved form of Dusclops

Type: Ghost

'It receives electrical waves from the spirit world with its antenna. And is said to to take people to the spirit world as well.

"And look! That's Conway!" Dawn said.

"Piplup!" Piplup exclaimed.

"What did you do to Conway?!" Dawn demanded. Dusknoir waved his arms and then vanished as well. The girls ran up to Conway.

"Conway, wake up!" Dawn said. Conway wakes up and saw Kairi and Dawn.

"Dawn, Kairi, what happened?" Conway asked.

"You tell us," Kairi said.

"Wait, I remember now. I almost stepped off this cliff. The last thing I saw before I fainted was a Dusknoir," Conway said.

"Yeah, we saw him. When we saw him, he just disappeared," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"It was a good thing we got to you in time," Dawn said.

"Yes. If I had fallen off, then I would have died from the fall," Conway said. He looked around. "Wait, where is she?"

"Where's who?" Dawn asked.

"That girl I was partnered with," Conway said.

"Dawn and I didn't see any girl. We only saw you. And you walking alone," Kairi said. Conway looked at her. "You looked like a total zombie."

"That can't be! I was just following her!" Conway said.

"Uh-oh! What if that girl was taken to the spirit world by that Dusknoir?" Dawn asked.

"If she was, then we have a problem," Kairi said.

"I strongly agree," Conway said.

"Piplup," Piplup said, feeling scared.

Meanwhile, over to the two teenage boys, they put on ghostly make-up and some glow in the dark gel. They see Sora, Pikachu, and Mitchell coming.

"Look at that. I see two of them. They're coming this way," the first teenage boy said, trying not to laugh.

"I can't believe I'm doing this. I can't believe I'm doing this," the second teenage boy said.

"You ready to go?" The first teenage boy asked.

"I'll go along with it just as long we don't get caught," the second teenage boy said.

"Chillax, man. They'll be too scared to even think straight. Just jump out and start screaming in a very ghostly way as soon as they come closer," the first teenage boy said.

"Okay, fine. Let's just get this thing over with," the second teenage boy said. He was unaware of a Banette hovering above him. "Just let me put on that make-up before we get started." Banette hands it to him. "Thanks, man."

"Banette," the Banette said. The second teenage boy winced when he heard that.

"Huh?! Banette?!" The second teenage boy asked. He saw the Marionette Pokémon hovering above him, giving him a frightening grin. He then began to white before he started to run off, screaming.

"Dude! Not yet!" The first teenage boy called out. The second teenage boy ran passed Sora, Pikachu, and Mitchell, still screaming.

"What was that?!" Mitchell asked.

"Just some guy wearing make-up to make himself look like a ghost, screaming like he saw a ghost. Someone should tell him that it's not Halloween," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Dammit! He ruined my prank! I am so going to give such-" the first teenage boy felt his shoulder being tapped. "Don't bother me right now." His shoulder is tapped again. "I said don't bother me!" His shoulder is tapped for a third time, making him turn around. "Look, butthole! You dumb or just deaf? I told not to bother me, so ge-" He stopped when he saw Banette along with a Shuppet and a Duskull. He screamed hysterically. "GHOSTS!" He began to run very fast and passed Sora, Mitchell, and Pikachu.

"Another one," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"What's going on?" Mitchell asked.

"I don't know, but you gotta have rocks in your head if you're gonna be pulling this kind of prank at night; especially with Ghost-type Pokémon," Sora said, taking out some Pokémon food and placing it down. "Good thing Kairi gave me a batch of Pokémon food before we got started."

The second teenage boy kept on running until he tripped and fell on his face.

"Can't believe I got spooked by a spook Pokémon. Well, the one good thing out of this is that I won't have to do that stupid prank," the second boy said. He heard the sound of laughter. He looked around. "Is someone there?" He saw the little girl. "Hey there, little girl. Where did you come from? You shouldn't be wondering out here at night." She holds up a chocolate cupcake with pink frosting.

"Have some," the girl said.

"A cupcake? Well, okay. I am kinda hungry," the second teenage boy said as he reached out to take it, but she takes it away, laughing. "Oh, you wanna play, huh? Okay, I'll play with you." The same Dusknoir placed his hand on his shoulder, stopping him. "Hey, what's that with you?" He saw Dusknoir giving a red glow in his single eye. He stared at the Gripper Pokémon before he screamed. His screams echoes throughout the forest as the first teenage boy heard him.

"Oh, man! Please, no!" The first teenage boy exclaimed as he ran. He saw his friend on the ground, unconscious. He shook him. "Ricky! Ricky! Wake up!" He stirs awake and saw his friend.

"Alex?" Ricky asked.

"You're okay. What a relief. What happened?" Alex asked.

"I saw a Dusknoir. It just stared at me and then I passed out from screaming," Ricky said as he looked around. "Hey, where's the girl?"

"What girl?" Alex asked.

"There was a little girl out here. She was offering me a cupcake before that Dusknoir showed up," Ricky said.

"I didn't see any girl or a Dusknoir, just you," Alex said. Dusknoir showed up again, making the flinched.

"There it is!" Ricky gasped. He and Alex ran off as fast as their feet can carry them.

Back with Sora, Mitchell, and Pikachu, they were still on the trail toward the ruins when they heard the sound of laughter. Sora stopped in his tracks.

"You hear that?" Sora asked.

"Hear what?" Mitchell asked.

"Chu," Pikachu said, looking around.

They looked around for the source of the laughter as the little girl showed up in front of them, laughing. Sora felt something off about the girl.

"What are you doing here?" Mitchell asked.

"Would you like to play with me?" The girl asked.

"Play with you?" Mitchell asked.

"Stay back, Mitchell. Something's off about her," Sora said.

"What do you mean, Sora?" Mitchell asked.

"Don't you think it's weird that a little girl out here in the middle of the forest in the dead of night? I do. She's giving off vibes I don't like," Sora said.

"Play with me," the girl said.

"No! Stay back!" Sora said as Dusknoir appeared before them. "What the? A Dusknoir?"

"Where did that come from?" Mitchell asked. Dusknoir fires Will-O-Wisp at them.

"It's using Will-O-Wisp! Run for it!" Sora said as he, Mitchell and Pikachu ran off, getting away from Dusknoir. The girl vanished once again.

Over to Lucas, Angie, and Shinx, they continued on their way through the forest.

"We should be almost near the ruins," Lucas said. They hear a ghostly whisper. "Did you hear that?"

"Yeah!" Angie said. The ghostly whisper echoes again.

"It sounds like it's coming from the rock," Lucas said.

"But how?" Angie asked as a Misdreavus came out from the rock. "A Misdreavus!"

"Does that answer your question?" Lucas asked.

"Shinx, Shinx!" Shinx said. Shinx lets out a loud shriek.

"IT'S USING SCREECH! IT'S KILLING MY EARS!" Lucas said as he, Angie, and Shinx ran off to get away from the Screech Pokémon. The Screech stopped as Lucas was now rubbing his ears. "Man, one second longer, then I would have lost my hearing."

"You sure wimped out back there, Lucas," Angie said.

"Me? You ran just as much as I did!" Lucas argued.

"No way!" Angie countered.

"What are we arguing for? We have to find those ruins," Lucas said.

"You're right, but which way do we go?" Angie asked. Lucas looked around.

"Man, we were running so fast, it didn't sink all the way in. Let's hope there aren't any Heartless around here," Lucas said.

"Yeah, me too. I don't wanna see those things again," Angie said. The girl appeared and laughed again, waving over to Lucas and Angie. They noticed her.

"Who are you?" Lucas asked.

"Over here. This way," the girl said.

"Yeah? It's that way? Thanks," Lucas said.

"Yeah, thanks," Angie added.

"Come on, let's go," Lucas said.

"Right!" Angie agreed as they went to where the girl went.

Back at the academy, Sora, Kairi, Dawn, Conway, and everyone else came back to and made their way back to the academy to report to Professor Rowan about Dusknoir.

"Hmm. That's rather strange. We monitor every Pokémon in this area. But for some reason, we don't seem to have any record of a Dusknoir dwelling here. It makes no sense for a forest-dwelling Dusknoir to be in a place like this in the first place," Professor Rowan said.

"What do you think that Dusknoir is doing here?" Dawn asked.

"Yeah, if that Dusknoir wasn't here to begin with, something had to happen to draw Dusknoir here," Sora said.

"Since you put it that way, Sora, there was accident that did take place the other day when we were doing some renovations," Professor Rowan said.

"What sort of accident, professor?" Kairi asked.

"We discovered a cave deep within a stone wall. And there are some who think it might be the legendary entrance to the spirit world," Professor Rowan said.

"Entrance to the spirit world?" Sora and Kairi asked in unison.

"Right. According to the Pokédex, Dusknoir will take people to the spirit world. And in fact that's where the Dusknoir in question comes from. It's possible that Dusknoir's attempting to take someone back with it," Professor Rowan said.

"I have reason to believe there's a possibilty it may have already abducted a girl," Conway said.

"If it did, then it was trying to do the same thing with us. That Dusknoir attacked with that Will-O-Wisp. But only when that girl showed up," Sora said.

"What do you mean, Sora?" Conway asked.

"I'm not saying you're wrong, but level with me. But I have a feeling that girl showing up out of nowhere is what weird, and then we see a Dusknoir that nobody saw coming. You are right that the two of them are connected," Sora said.

"Somehow, I picked up on that, too. Not sure if I could explain it, even though Dawn and I didn't see any girl out there," Kairi said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"But I think we should look into this," Sora suggested.

"I agree. We should go at once," Professor Rowan said.

Back with Lucas, Angie, and Shinx, they followed the girl up the stairway and they saw the medals.

"Look! The medals!" Lucas said as they ran up to the case.

"Cool, we're the first ones here!" Angie said.

"I guess Sora and the others are still behind. We're sure gonna win it, that's for sure," Lucas said.

"Got that right," Angie said. Just then, the Heartless appeared and attacked from all around.

"Heartless!" Lucas and Angie exclaimed. Lucas summoned his Keyblade and he went after the Heartless to strike them all down. He slashed at a few Shadows and some Search Ghosts. The Grand Ghosts proved to be a challenge due to their large size. The ghost-like Heartless rushed at Lucas, but he casts a tornado spell, pulling in the Search Ghosts, Trick Ghosts, Hover Ghosts, Carrier Ghosts, and Living Pods. Lucas then threw his Brilliant Diamond Dialga at the tornado, so his Keyblade slashes though them all. The tornado ceases as the ghost-like Heartless were destroyed. Lucas then recalls his Keyblade back into his hand and casts a fire spell, burning the Mummies, Zom-Zoms, and Boneheads as he struck down the Gargoyles, the Wright Knights, Vampires, Scarewolves, Hook Bats, Imps, Air Imps, and Lagoon Beasts. A Franken rushed at Lucas with its fist out. It attempts to crush him, but Lucas slashed the Frankenstein-like Heartless across the chest, destroying it. A Grand Ghost came up behind him as he struck down two Shadows.

"Lucas, watch out behind you!" Angie called out. The Grand Ghost turned and started to make its way toward Angie and Shinx, but Lucas casts a gravity spell, using its own weight against it. Lucas then finished it off with a thunder spell, hitting it. The last Search Ghost was struck by Lucas's fire spell. Lucas dismissed his Keyblade.

"That's the last one," Lucas said.

"That was awesome! Not only you're awesome in a Pokémon battle, but awesome as a swordsman!" Angie said.

"Well, I had some training done. And I'm still learning. Sora, Kairi, and Dawn sure missed out," Lucas said. The girl laughed as she gestures Lucas and Angie to come.

"Come play with me," the girl said. Before Lucas could say anything, Dusknoir showed up again.

"What the?!" Lucas exclaimed.

"A Dusknoir!" Angie gasped. Dusknoir heads for the girl.

"Better take it down before it attacks that girl," Lucas said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Houndour! Go!" His Pokéball opened and his Houndour came out. "Houndour! Fire Fang!"

"Use Thunder Fang, Shinx!" Angie ordered. Dusknoir is jumped by the two attacks. The Gripper Pokémon uses Psychic on Houndour and Shinx, but it does nothing to Houndour thanks to its immunity to Psychic-type attacks.

"Nice try, Dusknoir! Your Psychic's no good against a Dark-type like Houndour! Use Crunch!" Lucas ordered. Houndour lands a Crunch onto Dusknoir. "Use Inferno!" Houndour unleashes its Inferno, taking it down.

"Alright!" Lucas and Angie said. The girl laughed again, still gesturing them to come.

"Let's play," the girl said.

"No, let's not play! You were just attacked by that Dusknoir and those monsters! We gotta take you back with us!" Lucas said.

"That Dusknoir's gonna wake up at any minute!" Angie added.

"Come on, let's play togerher. I want you all to come with me," the girl said as a portal opened behind her.

"What the?!" Lucas exclaimed. The portal began to sucking in the air in front of them, so Angie is being pulled in. "Angie!" Lucas quickly grabbed her hand. "I gotcha!"

"Lucas!" Angie exclaimed as Lucas held on. Houndour and Shinx held on to Lucas, pulling in.

"Don't let go, no matter what!" Lucas said.

"I won't!" Angie said.

As the portal keeps trying to pull them in, the girl just grinned evilly.

"Come on, let's play. Come on, let's play," the girl said as he voice grew more demonic. As they held on, Lucas began to lose his grip, but he had to keep holding on.

"It's no use, Lucas! Just let me go! If you don't, then you'll end up going with me!" Angie pleaded.

"No! If that thing wants you, then it'll have to take me, too!" Lucas said.

"Lucas," Angie said, blushing.

Sora, Kairi, Dawn, Conway, Professor Rowan, his staff, Pikachu, Angel, Piplup, showed up and saw what was going on.

"Is that the spirit world entrance?" Professor Rowan's assistant asked.

"That could be what's pulling in Lucas and Angie!" Kairi said.

"We gotta help them!" Dawn said.

"No!" Professor Rowan said, stopping them. "Don't get close, either of you!"

"Let's play! Let's play! Hurry up!" The girl said, still in her demonic voice. Dusknoir regains consciousness. He sees Lucas and Angie holding on, so it rushes over to Angie and Lucas and held on to them. Dusknoir jabs his ghostly tail into the ground to stay in place.

"Dusknoir?" Lucas asked. He looked right at Dusknoir and he realizes what Dusknoir was doing. "I get it! You're only saving us!" Dusknoir nodded.

"Well, it looks like Dusknoir is protecting them," Professor Rowan said.

"I don't get it!" Dawn said.

"I do! It's that girl! She's the one who's trying to take us to the spirit world and not Dusknoir!" Sora said.

"How did you figure that out, Sora?" Conway asked.

"I think I got it when Dusknoir first showed up to me! Dusknoir obviously knew something about that girl! He wasn't threatening or attacking us, he was warning us!" Sora said.

"That explains why Dusknoir saved Conway's life by the cliff!" Kairi said.

Dusknoir was being pulled in slowly.

"We're being sucked in!" Angie gasped. Dusknoir turned to the girl and uses Psychic to push the girl back.

"NO!" The demonic girl cried as she drops her disguise, revealing herself as a demon before the portal closes and the cave is blocked by the falling rocks.

"If that went on a bit longer, then we would have been trapped in that cave forever," Lucas said.

"And you were looking out for us all along, weren't you?" Angie asked. Dusknoir nodded. "Great! Thank you!"

"Yeah, thanks. And we're sorry for attacking you, Dusknoir. We didn't know it until you helped us," Lucas said. Dusknoir floats up to the air. "Hey, where are you going?"

"Come back!" Angie said.

"Dusknoir!" Dusknoir said, vanishing.

A few moments later, Professor Rowan gave an explanation about the portal.

"You mean that's the entrance to the spirit world?" Angie asked.

"We honestly don't know that for certain, but it is obvious Dusknoir had a vested interest in guarding it. The facr is, scientists still have a long way to go before we truly understand our world," Professor Rowan said.

"Does that mean the girl I was partnered with wasn't in the academy?" Conway asked.

"That wasn't a girl at all. That was a demon disguising itself as a girl to make itself look non-threatening," Kairi said.

"I was partnered with a demon," Conway said before he winced when he made that realization. "I was partnered with a demon?"

"Hey, it could have been worse," Kairi said.

"You don't know the half of it, but I think we should save it for later," Lucas said.

"He's right. Right now, I'm interested in hitting the bed," Angie said.

"Not a bad idea," Sora agreed.

"Chu," Pikachu said.

With that said, everyone went back to the academy to head for bed after the night they had.

Over to Alex and Ricky, they kept on running and running.

"Those Pokémon ruined our prank!" Alex said.

"Well, it could have been worse," Ricky said. A flashlight shines on them, making them yelp. It turns out to be a teenage girl.

"Thank goodness I found you before you did something stupid," the girl said.

"Wanda? What are you doing here?" Alex asked.

"Look for you of course! I heard there were monsters in the forest, so I came here to get you out of here before your parents finds out and wash all that make-up off your faces! You're not fooling anybody!" Wanda said.

"Well, I told you we wouldn't be caught," Alex said.

"Yeah, but the prank was bound to go down south anyway. But at least my mom won't find out, because she'd kill me if she did finds out," Ricky said.

"Whatever, dude," Alex said.

On the next morning, Professor Rowan started to make his announcement to all of the students.

"We had quite a busy night, but you all performed admirably. So I decided to give each team 30 points," Professor Rowan said. The scoreboard shows the Blue Team has 260 points while the Red Team has 220 points, and the Green Team has 180 points.

"So that means we're still in second place," Sora said as he, Lucas, and Angie hung their heads.

"No need to worry. It's better than nothing," Dawn said.

"Well, for the Blue Team, it's definitely lonely at that top," Conway said.

"No worries, Red Team. We have one more chance to turn it around! What do you say?" Lucas asked.

"YEAH!" Sora, Kairi, Dawn, Angie, Mitchell, Kendall, and the others all cheered.

"Lucas is team leader? When was that decided?" Dawn whispered to Kairi.

"I think Sora did," Kairi whispered back.

There is only one more event to be had before the Pokémon Summer Academy draws to a close. What would be the subject of their next assignment, and will Sora, Kairi, and the rest of their teammates be able to use their last chance to make it to first place? That answer will come in the next chapter.
