Chapter 4: Revealing's and Celebrations

The entire Reagan family was crowded into Jamie and Eddie's dining room. The prayer was said and everyone was digging into their food. Jamie nodded at Eddie and he took his fork and tapped it against his glass.
"Ok, now that everyone is here and the food is served, Eddie and I have an announcement to make."
Everyone grew quiet and looked at the couple. Eddie fidgeted in her chair and then cleared her throat.
"I'm pregnant."
Cora was the first to stare at Eddie.
"Boy or a girl mom?"
Eddie smirked and looked at Jamie.
"Well, I'm hoping for another boy. That way we aren't outnumbering your dad and Patrick."
Patrick piped up on the other side of Cora.
"Yeah, I need a little brother to play with. There are too many girls in this family. No one wants to play baseball with me. Cora doesn't even want to play with me anymore."
Cora rolled her eyes at her little brother.
"If you haven't noticed Pat, I'm not a little girl anymore. I have my own set of friends. Don't any of your friends want to play with you?"
Patrick glared at Cora and Henry saved the two from fighting.
"Keep it civil you two."
Cora and Patrick immediately quieted down and took a forkful of food and stuck it in their mouths. Henry continued his conversation and aimed it towards Eddie.
"Doesn't matter to me if it's a boy or a girl. I will have 10 gg's."
This elicited laughter from around the table. It felt good to have everyone around the table. With Cora's scare with her Appendix, it made them extra grateful for everyone in the room. The laughter died down when someone's phone began to buzz. Cora looked over at Jamie and frowned.
"Dad… No phones at the dinner table."
Jamie kissed Cora's forehead and gave a smile.
"Sorry ladybug, its work. Hello? Doctor Reagan. Yes Mara. I'll be right in. Is the baby's head engaged? Ok. I'll be there as soon as I can. Call the Anesthesiologist and get that epidural onboard. Get her some more ice chips. Alright. Bye."
Hanging up his phone, Jamie sighed and apologized.
"Sorry everybody. Duty calls. Got a very stubborn baby that wants to greet the world."
Danny smirked at Jamie and pointed his fork towards him.
"Well, my bets on you delivering this next kid the two of you are having. After all, you did deliver all your kids."
Jame shook his head before he left the dining room.
"Ah. Not all of them. Only Cora, Patrick and Keena. Maisie and Kaitlyn were born via C-section."
Maisie raised her hand and looked at Eddie.
"Mama, what's a C-section?"
Eddie gave Jamie a look, then turned her attention back to Maisie.
"I'll explain it to you when you are a little older."
Maisie nodded and continued eating again. Jamie kissed each of the kids foreheads and gave Eddie a quick kiss to the lips.
"I'll be back as soon as I can. You know how long labor can last when its the first baby."
Eddie nodded and helped him into his coat.
"Oh yeah. Boy, do I know."
"Ok Ellie, one more push for me. You're doing great. One more push and your baby will be here. That's it. Good. One more! Ok, you've got a beautiful baby boy! Congratulations!"
Jamie held the wailing little boy over the sheet and Ellie smiled through her tears.
"He's beautiful Doctor Reagan! His name is Cameron."
Mara cut the umbilical cord and placed Cameron on top of Ellie's chest. Ellie spoke up again.
"I named him after his father. He'd be so proud to have a son."
Jamie smiled behind his mask and then concentrated on what he was doing in front of him. He directed his attention towards Mara who was organizing supplies on a tray off to the left of Jamie.
"Doctor Reagan, should I give her some Pitocin? She's got some active bleeding."
Jamie nodded and continued with the task in front of him.
"Yes please. Let's stay ahead of the bleeding."
Jamie arrived home exhausted. His feet hurt and all he wanted to do was crawl into bed next to Eddie and hold her. Throwing his coat on the coat rack, he quietly climbed the stairs and went into his and Eddie's bedroom, shutting the door. Quickly shedding his clothes down to his boxers, carefully pulled the covers back and climbed in covering himself and pulling Eddie closer to him.
"I love you babe."
Eddie scooted closer and leaned into Jamie's embrace.
"Love you too babe. Baby and I both do."
