So, there we were, the three musketeers, wandering around an abandoned warehouse late at night in the middle of a blackout. You know, I thought that it would be easy to find this 'ghost', a quick shufty around, in and out in 5 minutes, well…I hadn't considered that places look so different in the dark, needless to say we ended up walking into a few broom cupboards, and each time the equipment would fall out Myoukou would scream. I'm sure I'm going to go deaf from this.
"You know I'm surprised how big this warehouse is…" I mumbled to myself.
"Y-yeah, it is…hey Indianapolis senpai…"
"Don't call me that"
"S-sorry…but…it's so dark, how do we know where we've searched…?" I stopped in my tracks and the two amigos behind me almost ran into me.
"Umm…"
"We're lost aren't we senpai…?"
"Don't call me that!" I replied "Besides, we're not lost" I added, "I know where we are."
"You do?"
"Yep, we're in parts unknown…" Myoukou started crying.
"WE'RE LOST~"
"Hey! I have an idea!" Hawaii said, "Why don't we use a ball of string?"
"Pardon?" I asked
"You know like the myth?"
"Right…because I always carry a ball of string with me…" I replied in what I hoped was a sarcastic voice.
"That's okay! We can use some from the warehouse here!" Hawaii responded eagerly. "Hold on, let me get some!"
"NO! DON'T LEAVE US!" Myoukou cried.
I gave a sigh, "Alright, we'll all look together".
As we walked along, we eventually found a room that seemed promising, especially considering it read 'STORES'. The three of us started searching the room, well, until Myoukou started screaming.
"Now what?" I asked, fed up at the constant screaming.
"I- I thought I saw something…in the hallway…"
"It's probably nothing…" I tried saying exasperatedly, although it probably came off more as me being bored.
"Oh! There's a ball of string here, will that do?" Hawaii asked. I walked over and took a look at the pile of string that she was pointing to.
"No, they're all too short." I answered, this was getting infuriating, we'd probably been wondering around in circles now anyway. I was going to call it a night, seeing as no 'phantom' had appeared, when, when I walked through the doorway on the way out, there was a sudden bright flash.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Screamed Myoukou
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Screamed the individual in front of me.
"Will you please shut up…" I moaned, after my eyes adjusted from the bright flash I could make out a small destroyer in front of me, I knew who it was "Alfredo Oriani, and what does Aoba's apprentice seek here then…?"
We were not the only ones who had been on a recruitment drive, Aoba had too, and now she had an apprentice journalist in the form of Alfredo Oriani on her payroll since a fortnight ago.
"There were rumours of spirits haunting this building, so it's the job of any self-respecting journalist to find the story!"
Oh, I get it, either the newspaper claims credit for debunking the rumours, and/or they publish an article making us look like fools.
"Right, well I hope it goes well for you." I replied.
"Senpai! Don't leave me behind!" wailed Myoukou.
"Stop calling me that…"
The three of us wondered down the hallway until I stopped, something on the wall catching my attention.
"What is it?" asked Hawaii
"Why've we stopped?" Myoukou trembled.
I pointed to a diagram on the wall. "It's a fire escape plan, we can use this to see where we've already covered." I stared at the diagram for a moment. "Well, based on this diagram, the only places we haven't yet searched are the quartermasters office, and the maintenance cupboard on the east side of the building" I turned to face my posse "I've memorised the route, so I'll take the lead alright?"
"O-okay…"
"Right!"
"I-If you say so…"
…Wait a minute, one, two, three…
"Why are you following us?" I asked.
"O-Oh! W-well, it makes sense, um…it's so…that I don't have to search places you've already checked before!"
Oh, I see now, Alfredo was also scared. "Fine…You can join with Myoukou…"
"Hey what do you mean? I'm not scared senpai!" I didn't even bother refuting that and shone my torch down on her legs, which were shaking so much it would make jelly look like concrete.
"And how do you explain that?" I asked.
"Umm…I'm just…cold, yeah, it's very cold…" I left Myoukou to push her flustered excuses as the four of us headed towards the quartermaster's office.
