Chapter 6 Rescuing the Avatar
Sean was in his room relaxing.
Its been a couple weeks since the whole incident in Wakanda curing T'Challa.
And since he and Shuri became a couple.
Right now he was just in his room watching Wheel of Fortune.
"If it's not Jeopardy it's either Wheel of Fortune or Family feud." Garret said walking in.
"What part of I like game shows do you not get?" Sean asked rolling his eyes making him chuckle.
"You know game shows are supposed to be for old people like me and Coulson not kids." Garret said.
"Oh please. You guys aren't that old." Sean said.
"Heh. Anyway something's come up. Fury wants you in his office." Garret said as he sighed before leaving.
Arriving in his office he found him talking with some woman.
"Ah there you are." Fury said.
Sean took a closer look at the woman seeing her face.
"Wait...Don't I know you from somewhere? You look familiar." Sean said.
"She should. Her name's Lin Beifong." Fury said.
"As in the daughter of Toph Beifong?" Sean asked making her smirk.
"Yup." Lin said.
"Ok but what are you doing here? Last I checked the Four nations refused to be associated with the rest of the world." Sean said.
"No...Thats Tenzin who's pulling that crap. All four or should I say three have tried but he keeps blocking all of them saying the outside world would corrupt us. He's an idiot." Lin said making him scoff. "But thats not why I'm here. Recently the Avatar has been abducted." Lin said surprising them.
"I heard stories that Aang passed on but no solid intel since intel in there is hard to get." Fury said.
"Well he did 12 years ago." Lin said.
"So who is the new one?" Sean asked.
"Her name is Korra, She's from the southern water tribe. And she needs help. Someone abducted her 2 days ago and Tenzin sent the White Lotus to find her...But something feels off." Lin said.
"Meaning?" Fury asked.
"I get this gut feeling they're the ones who kidnaped her. I mean for one. She had been trained in her compound for the last 8 years." Lin said.
"I thought the Training wasn't supposed to start till he or she was 16." Sean said remembering the stories.
"Normally yeah but she was discovered early and was more eager. Anyway I think they took her." Lin said.
"For what purpose?" Fury asked.
"I don't know. Mold her to do what they want. Or something. Either way we need help. Tenzin can argue all he wants but I know for a fact we can't do this alone." Lin said making Sean frown.
"I'll get who I can." Sean said.
Later
A drop ship was arriving in what was known as Republic City.
"So what exactly is this Avatar?" Baird asked
"Ok. In the four nations there are four types of people. Air nomads, Fire benders, Earth Benders and Water Benders. Each nation can only use one element." Sean said.
"I'm suspecting theres an exception to the rule." Tai said.
"There is. The Avatar can use all four. And when the Avatar dies he or she is reborn in the next nation in the cycle." Sean said.
"Damn. How come we haven't seen her?" Cole asked.
"Because apparently the last Avatar's son Tenzin has been making sure that no one outside the four nations can come in. Despite the fact is that others want the rest of the world." Sean said before they landed and got out.
"Nice place." Marcus said before Tenzin approached looking furious.
"YOU! You have no business here! I want you to leave immediately." Tenzin said.
"Sorry. But your council and the other leaders asked for our help. So deal with it." Sean said pushing past him much to his shock as everyone else bumped into him hard.
"Tenzin." Kya said annoyed.
"What? They have no business being here." Tenzin said.
"You'd rather we end up losing Korra?" Kya asked making him sputter before sighing.
"Fine. But I'm telling you they won't help." Tenzin said.
Right now Sean was speaking with Korra's parents.
"And you have no idea what happened?" Sean asked.
"No. We went to visit her like always but...She wasn't there. And the White Lotus Sentries didn't see anything." Senna said worried for her daughter.
"Have you noticed the White Lotus acting...I don't know...Strange?" Sean asked.
"Well, They don't exactly approve of Korra being who she is. Tenzin always said she needs to be more like his father." Tonraq said making him frown as he left.
Later
"What are you interrogating me for?" Tenzin asked offended.
"Her parents told me you wanted her to be more like your father." Sean said.
"So? She needs to be more peaceful. Not ready for a fight." Tenzin said.
"Did you tell the White Lotus this?" Sean asked making him frown.
"What are you implying?" Tenzin asked.
"Lin came to us with concerns about them. If they are involved and you're covering for them." Sean said as he jumped up.
"NOW SEE HERE! The White Lotus would never stoop so low! They are the ones who helped free the Earth Kingdom!" Tenzin yelled.
"During Iroh's time. We know all about that. But he's gone. And since the White lotus became public...Fame may have made them arrogant." Sean said shocking them. "It's happened before. After all the Dai Li was once made to protect the Earth kingdom. Now they're the most corrupt group of the four nations." Sean said making him sit down.
"I...Can't deny what you're saying. But...I find it very difficult to believe they would do this." Tenzin said.
"Where are they anyway? Why aren't they here? Investigating? Sean asked making him frown looking away.
"I don't know. I just...I don't know." Tenzin said.
"Don't know or just won't tell because of your devotion to them." Sean asked making him sigh.
"I honestly really don't know...But...I do know where one base they have is...It's in the City. But I'm telling you I doubt they are responsible." Tenzin said as he rushed out.
"Get geared up, NOW!" Sean yelled as he pulled out his lancer.
"Oh this is gonna be good." Cole said.
Later
Arriving at said base they found two guards outside.
"Let us through." Crysis said.
"We don't serve outside trash." One said about to fire bend him but Cole shot his face off shocking the other.
"You can live or die. Is the Avatar here?" Tai asked.
"Yes...It was all Tenzin's idea."
"Motherfucker." Crysis said busting the door down before they rushed in.
Inside they found the White Lotus around Korra who was clearly drugged.
"You are not welcomed here." The Leader said before water bending at them which they took cover.
"Well, this just figures." Baird said as they started shooting at them as Bo-Katen flew up before firing at several high ranking members who yelled in pain.
Sentries arrived before Marcus yelled as he shot one down before cutting the other in half.
"I was hoping never to do that again." Marcus said disgusted.
Crysis rushed through using his Retro lancer on several Sentries before butting his gun into the leader's head knocking him down.
Korra moaned as she was strapped down before Sam got out her out.
"She's heavily drugged." Sam said.
"Let's get her back to the hospital." Minh said as they rushed her out while Crysis grabbed the leader making him gasp in shock.
"Your saying Tenzin told you to do this?" Crysis asked.
"Well, not exactly. He said he wished her to be more like Aang. So we figured we could make her like him with some suggestions." The Leader said making him growl before he was cuffed.
Later
"TENZIN!" Lin roared.
"I swear I didn't tell them to do this." Tenzin said in shock as Tonraq grabbed him hard.
"You couldn't accept her for who she was?" Tonraq asked.
"It wasn't like that. I said I just wished she was more like my Father. I never once told them to do this." Tenzin said.
"Even if you didn't you still caused it." Sean said.
"I swear...I never meant for any of this. Please just let me speak to Korra and I will straighten..." Tenzin tried to say.
"Incase you're forgetting she's heavily drugged right now because of you." Baird said.
"It'll take days for her to get back to her old self." Dom said.
"I swear...I never meant for this to happen. I just wanted her to be more...Peaceful." Tenzin said struggling to find the right words.
"Instead of accepting her for her." Sean said making him lower his head in shame. "You claim we would corrupt this land but it seems to be just as flawed as the rest of the world." Sean said shocking him. "I think it's time SHIELD makes its presence here. And you are gonna stay out of it." Sean said.
"But."
"NO fucking excuses." Sean said making him sigh. "And further more she's leaving the four nations to be properly trained since we interrogated others and it turns out they sabotaged her training to make her look weak so they could have all the glory." Sean said shocking him further.
"But I..." Tenzin tried to say.
"Not another fucking word." Lin said.
"We leave in the morning." Sean said as they left.
"Lin you have to stop them." Tenzin said in urgency.
"Stop them from what? Keeping her safe? From you?" Lin asked glaring at him.
"I didn't want this. I was just stating my opinion. They're the ones who took it too far." Tenzin argued.
"And look where that got her. In a drug induced coma. Probably won't trust people so freely again because of you. You traumatized her. Whether you meant it to happen or not is not the point. You caused it." Lin said making him sigh.
"I know...And I have to live everyday knowing that from now on." Tenzin said.
"Doesn't make it any better. And more importantly. Your attempts to keep us isolated from the rest of the world ends here. Cause clearly the corruption you feared is already here. At least they'll smoke it out before it becomes a bigger issue." Lin said leaving making him sigh holding his face in regret.
"What have I done?" Tenzin asked himself.
Meanwhile
Baird was examining Korra as she laid on a bed.
"How is she?" Sean asked.
"The drugs will leave her system in a few days. And theres no sign they managed to do anything to her. So she's in the clear. Can't believe a bunch of morons were willing to do this to a kid. They're no different than Prescott." Baird said.
"Stupidity runs deep." Sean said as he left as he sat next to her before holding her hand as she gently squeezed it making him smile before her parents walked in.
"How is she?" Senna asked.
"She'll be all right. But she's gonna need some therapy." Sean said.
"I can't believe Tenzin caused this." Tonraq said.
"He's unable to accept change or what is. Hence why he's under investigation incase theres other things involved." Sean said.
"So where are you taking her?" Senna asked.
"All of you since she's gonna need you two. In DC. SHIELD's main base is there." Sean said leaving.
Meanwhile
Tenzin was arriving home when he noticed his wife giving him a death glare.
"Oooooh. This is never gonna end." Tenzin said in defeat not seeing his oldest glaring at him as she left.
Later
Everyone was getting on the drop ship ready to head off.
"Thanks for the help." Lin said.
"No problem. Just keep that idiot in check." Sean said making her smirk.
"Oh I plan to." Lin said before they took off to base.
"Lin!" Tenzin yelled rushing to her but stopped seeing them leave.
"Your too late. They're gone now. And away from you." Lin said making him sigh.
"And what happens when we need her?" Tenzin asked.
"Thats why SHIELD is staying. And your gonna but out." Lin said bumping into him making him sigh.
"Dad would be so disappointed in you." Kya said.
"I know. I failed them both." Tenzin said.
Later
Korra slowly woke up with a groan before seeing her surroundings.
"She's coming to." Anya said.
"Give her some space. She's gonna be a little disoriented from this." Hand said.
Korra's vision began to clear seeing them all.
"Where...Where am I?" Korra asked afraid.
"Easy now." Shuri said holding her hand. "You're in a medical facility." Shuri said.
"Why? What happened?" Korra said groggy.
"Tenzin screwed you over." Sean said leaning on a wall.
"Tenzin?" Korra asked.
"He wanted you to be more like his father...So the White Lotus kidnapped you trying to make you more like him." Sean said as memories of what happened came flooding into her mind.
"I remember. They drugged me." Korra said weakly.
"You're all right. The Drugs are slowly getting out of your system with a different kind meant to eliminate it faster." Shuri said.
"What about Tenzin?" Korra asked.
"He's under investigation since while he may not have meant for this to happen. He still caused it. And it turns out the White Lotus has been sabotaging your training so they could swoop in and take the glory. The group has been disbanded and their actions made public." Sean said making her sigh. "Your parents will be in shortly." Sean said as the rest left while he and Shuri stayed.
"I don't believe this. He couldn't just let me be me?" Korra asked hurt.
"Stupidity will always do that." Sean said.
"So what happens to me?" Korra asked.
"You will be trained here. Since it's clear the Four nations have those who would rather see you fail it's better for you to be outside those nations. Until you're ready." Sean said.
"And...My parents?" Korra asked.
"They'll be with you the whole time." Sean said making her smile softly.
Meanwhile
Tenzin was in front of the council looking like he aged decades.
"Tenzin. This council is mortified by what has happened." Tarrlok said.
"I swear I had nothing to do with this. I just stated my opinion and that is all I did. They were the ones who acted." Tenzin said trying to defend himself.
"But you did cause it."
"Which is why your duties are hereby suspended till the investigation is over." Tarrlok said.
"But." Tenzin tried to say.
"No buts. Meeting adjourned." Tarrlok said as Tenzin looked defeated.
Author's Note: Tenzin isn't very good with accepting change as evident in the whole Pro Bending thing. Now Next Chapter we head to a new world...One which holds lots of powered people based on Japan's famous myths. Sorry this wasn't updated yesterday.
