The air was cold as the rivers of a dark green planet ran viciously, clouds blocking out its three suns while deep grunts & coughs could be heard from the distance.
As a behemoth of a dull green Namekian continued to cough & wheeze, the three smaller Namekians dressed in traditional clothing looked a bit worried as they stood next to the throne the giant Namekian was sitting on.
"G-Grand Elder Muru. Do you need anything to help with the process?"
"Argh! N-No. T-They're al-arugh! They're almost here!" Grand Elder Muru gargled before doubling over & opening his mouth wide, the Namekians watching in awe as two large eggs flew out of his mouth.
Before they could crash into the ground, though, Muru flicked out a finger & caught both with a telekinetic grip, taking deep breaths and thanking the first Namekian that spoke as he took the glass of water handed to him & took a deep breath.
"Thank you. Now, it should be long before they are born." As if on cue, the egg on the left shattered as a rather big Namekian baby floated in the air.
However, both the Grand Elder and his attendants were shocked by how aware the baby was as they slowly looked around before blinking as they made eye contact with Muru.
"Hello, little one." Muru spoke with a soft smile as he reached out and held the baby in his arms, amused at their blinking before looking up at his attendants with a nod.
"Please, prepare the clothes, warm water and inform Elder Mago to come here. Young Guru has been born."
On the outskirts of a village, a rather big Namekian child ran around the village for laps, gasping for air as his body slowly lumbered forward.
"On your left, Guru!" A voice came from behind and the Namekian known as Guru simply moved to the side as his twin brother charged through.
"And as usual, with a three minute head-start, Guru loses once again." A Namekian boy, far smaller than the two giants in front of him, spoke with a smirk as he made another tally in the dirt, right next to the dozens that were already under Guru's twin.
"C-Come on. T-The D-Dragon Clan…aren't known…for our stamina."
"That's true. Slug, why don't you race me next?"
"Sure thing, Katas. Guru, you mind?"
"By all means. You guys just race…while I go take a nap." Guru muttered as he laid on the ground, Katas and Slug just sharing an amused look before the two took starting positions & disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Guru on the other hand ignored the world around him as he relaxed peacefully, taking a deep breath before letting out a blissful sigh as he felt the exhaustion slowly taking him into dreamland.
"…lo."However, his exhaustion began to fade away as he heard a voice calling out, opening his eyes before they widened at the sight of an ethereal green spirit floating in front of him.
With a pattern reminiscent to that of scales covering most of their body, cream-coloured energy in the shape of scales covered their chest and instead of legs, they had a long serpentine tails with two pairs of horns on their head, two curling out & upwards from the sides of their head while two more stretched up from the top of their head.
"W-Who…" Guru struggled to get the words out as he felt the sheer presence from the spirit, who didn't speak as they looked at him before Guru's eyes widened as they smiled & nodded.
"Hello, my creator."
"Wait, wh-!" Before he could ask, Guru blinked as he found himself now fully awake, staring up at the sky while Namekians crowded around him.
"Guru! Is everything okay?! Were you hurt?" The oldest looking Namekian of the ground knelt next to him with a concerned frown, helping Guru sat upright with Slug's help while Katas looked just as worried.
"I-I'm fine, Elder Mago."
"Are you sure? You kept saying 'who are you', 'where is this' and 'what is happening'." Maro continued and Guru frowned as he nodded slowly.
"W-Well, something did happen, but I'm not sure what."
"Well, who were you talking to?" Slug asked with a frown before he & everyone around them froze as Guru responded in a confused tone.
"I…I think I met an Eternal Dragon."
"Are you sure he said Eternal Dragon?" Grand Elder Muru asked with a frown as he looked at Mago, who was frowning as well as the Elder nodded.
"He did, Grand Elder, and his description is not too off from what you told us when you met yours."
"Ethereal green spirit with a scale-like pattern all over their body & four horns on their head?" Muru asked with a frown, humming as Mago smiled & nodded before looking outside the window of his house at where Guru was sitting on the edge of the mountain pillar his house was on.
"I see. Thank you for letting me, Mago and please, tell Guru to come in."
"As you wish, Grand Elder." Elder Mago bowed with a nod before walking out of the house, Muru not waiting long as Guru walked in and he smirked at the sight of the large Namekian child looking anywhere but him.
"Guru, my son. There is no reason to look down. Please, look at me." Muru spoke softly, smiling as Guru finally looked up at him with a look of concern.
"I-I know that two sets of Dragon Balls are not allowed. A-Am I in trouble?"
"Not at all. In fact, this is a day to rejoice. In all of our species' time, you are only the third to ever have a premonition from an Eternal Dragon, with myself being the second & the great Zalama being the first."
"Then what about the others that also had Dragon Balls?" Guru asked with a confused look, forgetting about his earlier hesitance as Muru chuckled & shook his head.
"The other Grand Elders before me all had made usage of the Super Dragon Balls that the Great Zalama had made before his passing, but with our Great Migration from the Forbidden Lands, they were lost to the cosmos & we all thought that would be the end of it. Thankfully, I was blessed by his spirit and in my later years, made the ones you see today." Muru said while gesturing above him, Guru looking above the Grand Elder's head to see a large orange sphere with a single scarlet star in the middle of it sitting on a cushion on the top of Muru's throne.
"So, I'm special?" Guru asked with a frown as he looked at Muru, who smiled as he nodded.
"Indeed and it's appears that your true training can finally begin. Are you ready to embark on this journey?"
"C-Can Katas & Slug train with me as well?" Guru asked with a hopeful look before letting out a dejected sigh as Muru gave a sad smile & shook his head.
"Unfortunately, the knowledge I will give you can & must only be used by you, as we are the only two Namekians apart from the great Zalama to have a premonition of an Eternal Dragon."
"I-I see. I…I guess I'm ready." Guru said with a determined nod, to which Muru chuckled as he nodded.
"Then, let your training begin."
As three suns hung in the light green sky of Namek, a large Namekian with a rather muscular physique took a deep breath as he watched the river water flowing calmly in front of him, letting it out softly yet slowly.
Scattered all around him were a large gathering of frogs, all of them croaking softly while Guru chuckled softly as he rubbed the top of the small frog on his lap
"Guru!" Guru blinked as he heard his voice being called from behind, looking back before smiling as he saw his best friend flying towards him.
"Katas! What brings you here, dear friend?" He asked as the smaller Namekian landed next to him, to which Katas snorted as he crossed his arms & looked out at the river
"Grand Elder Muru wants you to join us all at the loading dock. The traders are arriving in twenty takks." Katas said and Guru smiled as he turned back to the flowing river.
"I know. I simply wished to have a moment of peace to myself where no one can disturb me."
"So, did you hear?" Katas asked and Guru sighed as he nodded, rubbing the wooden staff lying beside him with a sad frown.
"Yes. Slug caused another incident."
"Thirty Malakans & twelve Kabochans, all with at least five broken bones all throughout their bodies. It was only thanks to Muru stopping him that he didn't go any further. I know what you're going to say and while he is your brother, he also nearly caused us to lose a very important trading contract with the Colarctian Empire."
"What would you have me do, Katas? Slug does not listen to me or Grand Elder Muru after my training began"
"That's because he is jealous of your abilities, Guru and not to mention, he was born from an Impure Egg. Every Namekian knows what that means."
"And what does it mean, Katas? Tell me so I can understand it like you all do." Guru spoke with a frown as he looked at his friend and Katas felt a bit of regret for his words as he saw the cold look in his friend's eyes.
"My apologies. It's just that I made friends with some of the Malakans for the past year and seeing them be broken in front of me…" Katas trailed off and Guru sighed as he reined his rage back in, the water finally calming & the dark clouds above them dissipating once more as he shook his head.
"It's okay, brother. However, he is still my twin brother no matter how angered he may be." Guru answered, Katas staring at his best friend before smiling as he nodded.
"I understand. Now, let's get to the gathering before the Grand Elder comes looking for us."
"Knowing him, he'd probably teleport us to him just to make sure we can't miss his lecture."
"What?" Guru asked in shock, the other Namekians around them just as shocked while Grand Elder Muru chuckled in amusement.
"Did I perhaps stutter?" He wheezed and Guru's eyes widened as he quickly shook his head.
"N-Not at all, Grand Elder. It's just…"
"You feel like you are not worthy?" Muru asked with an understanding smile, Guru hesitating for a moment before letting out a soft sigh as he nodded.
"Yes. What of Elder Mago, Elder Tsuna & Elder Pritori? They would have been much better picks."
"How many of the elders you've mentioned were capable of creating a Dragon Ball before even hitting their first century? No offence, my children."
"Haha! None taken. We know you mean well, Grand Elder Muru." The oldest looking of a trio in red robes standing not too far behind Guru spoke with an amused smile, the other two chuckling as they nodded.
"Listen, Guru. I am old, nearly seven centuries old, and growing older by the day. While I would love nothing more than to live for eternity, I know that my time is approaching and when it does, the Dragon Balls goes with me. When that happens, our species will be unprotected once more and I do not wish for my children to live through the dark times that those of my generation did. If you take up the position of Grand Elder, I can finally teach you how to make Dragon Balls and pass on in peace. Will you do it & lead the race in my stead?" Muru asked as he reached out a hand, Guru frowning as he looked at the gathered Namekians to see them all smiling & nodding before he turned & nodded at Muru with a shaky smile.
"I will do my best to fill your shoes."
"No, do your best to surpass me & cement your name in our people's history."
"You wish to embark on a journey?" Muru asked with a raised eyebrow, Guru smiling as he looked up from where he was kneeling in front of his father's throne & nodded.
"I do. I feel that despite my training, I do not know much of our people nor the world beyond our planet. Thus, I wish to first experience the world out there before I can experience the world of Namek."
"I see. And you wish to do this alone?" Muru asked, watching as Guru nodded before smiling softly as he raised a hand.
"Come closer, my son." Standing up & walking over to the Grand Elder's side, Guru watched as Muru reached out before placing a hand on his hand.
A long silence hung in the air as Guru felt Muru's magic reaching into his mind & body, already knowing what was going to happen and smiled as a rush of pure power flooded his body.
With a tired hum, Muru shakily took his hand off of Guru's head before giving him a thankful smile as Guru helped him do so, the young Namekian staring at his father in concern as he took a deep breath.
"Hah, I…have not done that…in a long time."
"Are you okay, Grand Elder? Should I call Miga & the others?" Guru asked, sighing as Muru smiled & shook his head.
"No need. I just…need some rest and I…should be fine. As for your…request, you can go. I merely wished…to make sure you return home safely, my child."
"I swear I will return and you won't have to worry about us no more, Grand Elder."
"Haha! You are my son, Guru. Call me father for a change." Muru said with an amused smile, which Guru shared as he chuckled & nodded.
"Then, I shall see you soon, father. Rest for now & await my return."
"Wait, you're leaving?" Katas asked with a shocked face, Guru smiling as he nodded while continuing to pack his essentials.
"I am."
"Without me, your best friend?"
"You have a life here, brother. As the leader of the Warrior Clans, you have a duty to make sure our clansmen survive until I return. Not to mention, I do believe you have a son to take care of." Guru said with a smirk as he looked back, chuckling at Katas' disgruntled look.
"Don't remind me of him. I thought I was bad in my younger years, but I do not even come close to Kari's mischievous streak."
"Indeed, you don't. However, you are also the only one he listens to, so you are needed here." Gur said, smiling softly as Katas sighed before nodding.
"I understand, friend. When will you return?"
"Hopefully within the next decade. The universe is vast & there are many things to learn from the different species that inhabit it."
"And what of him?" Katas asked with a frown, to which Guru smiled.
"Do not worry of my brother. I will go see him soon and ask him to be peaceful until my return."
"Do you think he'll listen?" Katas asked as he & Guru walked out of the Namekian's house, to which Guru just chuckled and nodded.
"He may have resentment towards me, but if I ask him for a favour, I know my brother will do his best to hold it."
"Little brother! Are you here?!" Guru's voice travelled across the barren fields around him, the Namekian smiling peacefully despite the malevolent energy in the air.
"I am here, brother." A Namekian just as big as Guru answered as he walked out of the one single house in the middle of the field, scars covering his upper chest & arms while he was dressed in nothing but a pair of baggy pants.
"How have you been, brother?"
"The usual. Some fuckers pissed me off when they tried to con me so I broke their bones."
"Slug…" Guru trailed off with a slight frown, to which Slug snorted while rolling his eyes.
"Right. Some idiots made me mad so I had to teach them the error of their ways."
"Better, but not enough. I thought you promised to reign in your urges."
"Oh, you know me, Guru. As the Evil Demon Slug, I just have to break some bones on a daily basis."
"You're not evil, brother."
"Guru, let's stop with the pleasantries. Why are you here? Usually, you would be hanging out with Grand Elder Muru right now."Slug spoke with a frown and Guru sighed as he nodded.
"Fine. I wished to come tell you that I will be leaving Namek today."
"Forever?" Slug asked with a hopeful look before letting out a groan as Guru smirked.
"You are not getting rid of me that easily, brother."
"Fine~! So, when are you coming back?"
"Hopefully, a decade. Truthfully, I…do not know. It depends on how quickly I finish my journey."
"And you're going to our different allies?" Slug asked with his arms crossed, raising an eyebrow as Guru shrugged.
"And some others. Like I said, it depends on my journey."
"So, what? You're here to say goodbye?"
"And to ask for a favour, perhaps?"
"I swear, if it's to ask me to be nice, I will send you flying."
"Oh, you didn't tell that you knew telepathy, brother?" Guru asked with a smirk, chuckling as Slug rolled his eyes.
"We both know that me being nice is an impossible task."
"Because of your impulses. I know, brother. I merely came to ask if you could reign them in for a bit. I know it's damn near impossible to ask you to stop breaking bones, but I ask that you at least try to stop yourself."
"…The only reason I haven't punched you is because I would feel bad about beating up my older brother."
"Please, brother. We both know I'm the stronger of us two." Guru said with a scoff, smiling softly as Slug chuckled before the Namekian stared at him.
"Hah, very well. I will not make any promises, but I shall try to keep myself in check."
"That is all I ask, brother. Until we meet again." Guru spoke with a smile as he held out a hand before his eyes widened as Slug shook his head & stepped forward, wrapping his older brother in a tight hug.
"I'm going to miss you, brother."
"Me too, brother." Guru muttered as he hugged Slug, the two brothers standing in their embrace for a few moments before Slug cleared his throat awkwardly as he stood back.
"A-Ahem! Okay, you can fuck off now."
"Love to you too, brother!" Guru exclaimed with a chuckle as he floated away, Slug watching as his brother flew towards the loading docks before letting out a soft sigh as he looked at his right hand where a ki blade was beginning to form.
'Sorry, Elder Brother. I guess you won't see me again.'
A/N: And we embark on the life that is Super Kami Guru! Next chapter, more training!
