He'd given up being subtle about his entrance. The children were always happy to see him, and while his brother feigned indifference, the tension in his shoulders eased once Sesshoumaru's feet touched the ground.
He was greedy, if nothing else, as Kagome's unfiltered expression of surprised joy was always that more potent when she wasn't given time to process his arrival.
She smiled for everyone, some more exasperated than others, but there was a slight twitch to the right side of her mouth, a brightness that lingered in her eyes when it was directed at him. Sometimes, her packmates caught it, resulting in playful jabs and endless teasing, but it never dwindled, never failing to bring a delightful blush to her cheeks.
He revelled in it.
The children launched themselves at him the moment he touched down, alternating between chastising him for being away so long and being excited at his return. He placated them as best he could, the weight of his hand on their heads doing much to settle their nerves.
