One night, Ye Hai returned home. Not wanting to waste the 10 points of scientific value, he decided not to sleep immediately. Instead, he began reviewing biological science materials, going through the contents of the scientific magazine "Life Science" from the past few years. Afterward, he turned to professional books, reading at an astonishing speed—finishing a book in just ten minutes and grasping the essence of the content, even surpassing the authors in understanding. This superhuman ability kept him engrossed until dawn, when his 24-hour brain activation period came to an end.
In an instant, the sights before him returned to normal, and his mind became sluggish. This state made him uncomfortable, and he could hardly resist the urge to activate his brain again.
At that moment, the system reminded him: "Host, please note that you have used your 24-hour brain activation. Your brain is currently fatigued due to overuse. You can spend 10 points of scientific value to alleviate this fatigue, or get some proper sleep."
Ye Hai felt extremely tired and wanted nothing more than to lie down and sleep well. He recalled that Dr. Connor had told him he didn't have to work today and should take time at home to rest and recover. He replied, "I don't want to spend the 10 points of scientific value; it's too precious to waste."
With that, he lay down on the nearby bed, closed his eyes, and soon slipped into a deep sleep.
The next morning, he woke up feeling extremely hungry, sensing a hollow emptiness in his stomach. He quickly grabbed his phone to check the time: it was six in the morning.
Fortunately, he had plenty of time and didn't need to worry about being late.
After a quick wash-up, Ye Hai headed to work with his materials in hand.
Arriving at the Osborn Industrial Building, he had breakfast in the cafeteria before starting his workday.
Today, Dr. Connor had some good news for him: they had conducted a live experiment yesterday, and a little mouse with a missing right limb had successfully restored its body and could now use the limb flexibly.
This news was encouraging, and even Dr. Rada, the head of the studio, had come in today.
Dr. Rada was a middle-aged man of Indian descent, with a somewhat serious expression. He smiled slightly at Ye Hai and said, "I heard from Dr. Connor that you perfected the mutation rate equation that has been troubling us. Well done, young man!"
After saying this, he broke into applause, and the colleagues in the studio followed suit. Gwen was in the crowd, admiringly looking at Ye Hai and clapping enthusiastically, as if she felt no pain.
Next to her stood a tall, handsome young man who looked curiously at Ye Hai and asked, "Who is he? I don't think I've seen him before."
"His name is Ye Hai; he just joined us the day before yesterday!" Gwen replied with a smile.
"What? What did you say?" The young man's eyes widened. "You said he just joined two days ago? But I heard Dr. Connor say he solved the mutation rate equation."
"That's right, Peter; he just started two days ago, and in just one day he perfected the mutation rate equation, surpassing more than a decade of our efforts. Isn't he impressive?" Gwen said excitedly.
Peter saw the brilliant light in Gwen's eyes and felt a pit of bitterness in his heart. He remarked unenthusiastically, "Yes, he is quite amazing!"
After sharing a few light-hearted exchanges with Dr. Rada, Ye Hai walked over and smiled, "Gwen, who is this gentleman?"
"This is Peter Parker, one of my classmates, and he's also temporarily Dr. Connor's assistant," Gwen introduced.
Ye Hai scrutinized Peter for a moment and concluded that this Peter was likely the one who had become Spider-Man. The thought of Spider-Man's abilities ignited a desire within him—how wonderful it would be to possess such powers. The Lizard Doctor's transformation could only be deemed a monster, while Spider-Man was a true superhero.
"Ding! Mission triggered: Study Spider-Man's mutation genes for perfect human integration. The mission period is one month. A successful completion will reward 10,000 scientific value points, while failure will deduct 1,000 points!"
Ye Hai immediately extended his hand, smiling amiably. "Hello, I'm Ye Hai. You can just call me Ye."
Peter was taken aback by his warm demeanor and quickly grasped Ye Hai's hand, stammering, "Hello, hello…"
Ye Hai chuckled. "You're young too, Peter. I like young people because we have a common language. Would you be interested in becoming my assistant?"
Due to Ye Hai's outstanding contributions, Dr. Rada had already appointed him as a scientist at Osborn, working alongside Dr. Connor on cross-species genetics, no longer just an assistant but rather an equal. Thus, he was now looking to recruit some assistants.
Peter hesitated, but Gwen eagerly said, "Ye, can I be your assistant?"
"It would be my pleasure to have a beautiful lady working with me, Gwen. I warmly welcome you to join my team," Ye Hai said, his heart stirred as he gazed at Gwen's lovely face.
"I'm not just pretty, you know."
Gwen frowned slightly, feeling overshadowed by Ye Hai's intelligence, yet unwilling to let him think little of her.
"Of course, Gwen, you're both talented and beautiful—a truly gifted woman," Ye Hai complimented her before turning to Peter. "So, Peter, have you made your decision?"
"It would be my honor, sir!"
With his dream girl joining Ye Hai's group, Peter naturally followed suit.
