Shirou never imagined he would experience culture shock from being back into his own hometown. He had landed about an hour ago and decided to walk the way back to his old home. It felt odd being back in Fuyuki after two years of being in London. The massive difference between the two places was very much noticeable.
It was almost a surreal experience to be back in Fuyuki. He marveled at how in the two years he had been gone nothing seemed to be changed about the place and he loved it for that. It felt familiar in spite of the reason for his return.
Shirou turned the corner and suddenly came to a standstill. He felt the hairs on the back of his neck suddenly stand upright, as if hit by a sudden chill. He turned his head backwards but saw nothing, the street was as empty as when he walked down it. But he had the odd feeling for some reason that he was being watched.
"Must be the stress getting to me" Shirou told himself as he resolved to keep on walking forward, unaware of a figure watching him from a distance.
After a while he finally made it to his destination. The Emiya residence, his old home. He stepped through the archway and with a deep breath he knocked on the front door. He heard some shuffling from inside until the door opened up and Taiga Fujimara was standing in the doorway.
"Shirou…you're here…" she said as her face turned into a smile and she pulled him into a hug.
"Hey Fuji-mee," Shirou said as he returned the embrace "after your phone call I came as soon as possible for…"
It was still hard to get these words over his lips. It was still unbelievable to think his old friend had met that gruesome of a fate.
"BIG BROTHER!" a loud voice yelled and Shirou felt himself tackled to the ground by a happy and smiling Illyasviel "I'm so happy to see you again!" she said as hugged him tightly. Shirou smiled brightly.
It was good to be back home, even in spite of the circumstances.
London:
At her dinner table, Rin said with her head in her hands trying to desperately get a grip on her current mental state. She hated to admit it but she was very much worried knowing that Gil was out there somewhere. She doubted he knew where she lived, if he had been in London for a while and he had figured it she was certain he would've shown his face already.
But maybe the fact he hadn't done so yet made her even more worried and slightly paranoid. In spite of her passionate night with Shirou elevating some of her worries she was nonetheless ready to pull her hair out because of the knowledge alone that Gil was out there.
A chill ran down her spine as she heard a knock on her door. Her head turned towards it as the knocking continues. Rummaging through her pile of gems stuffed into a small bowl on the dinner table, she grabbed hold of one and placed her hand behind her back as she slowly made her way to the door.
Better to be safe than sorry.
As her hand reached for the door handle and slowly opened it. On the other end was not a face she was expecting.
"Good afternoon Miss Tohsaka, hope I'm not coming at a bad time" Katalina Edelfelt said as she beamed a smile at her. Rin breathed a slight sigh of relief as she placed the gem on the kitchen counter. Then she made a quick scan of the hallway behind Katalina.
"No need to worry he is not with me I promise," Katalina assured her "May I come in?"
Rin nodded and stepped aside allowing the older woman into her home. Katalina politely smiled as she stepped inside and looked around the modest apartment. Admiring its simplicity as Rin closed the door.
"Apologies for coming to your home unannounced. But after what happened at the Gala I felt the need to check in on you. It seems you and Mr. Gil have bad blood between you two."
"That is the understatement of the century. He tried to kill me! And you were out there defending him!" Rin said in a patronizing tone while crossing her arms.
If Katalina was offended it didn't show on her face and instead she simply fixed the glasses upon her face, pushing them back into place.
"Miss Tohsaka you have to understand that Gil….I mean Nathaniel has been through a lot. He is the last living member of his family, a family that by his own admission was…not the best. But regardless that brutal attack on the Lawrence family years ago and him being the only survivor….you must understand that he has been through a lot and wants to make amends."
"Amends my ass! He told me himself he killed his own mother!" Rin yelled back.
This outburst seemed to raise Katalina's eyebrows "his mother but that….that can't…" she mumbled as she suddenly turned her face away from Rin for a moment as she was in deep thought before facing Rin once more.
"Miss Tohsaka I think you might want to come with me."
