Chapter 24 – Snakeroot Shinanagains Part 2
Koga arrived in town with his eyes scanning for a girl with white hair, a green elf, and a demon. "Where the hell could they have gone?" He said to himself. That's when Koga heard the sound of a chicken screech. He looked towards where the sound came from and saw white feathers fall to the ground. Koga rushed over and looked around the corner seeing Elfo jumping around in victory. "TAKE THAT, YOU STUPID CHICKEN!" Elfo shouts.
"Elfo!" Koga called out to him.
Elfo saw Koga and waved to him, "HEEEY KOGA!"
"Elfo, what are you doing punching chickens? You'll be fined almost a thousand gold for that!" Koga said as he walked over to Elfo.
"He started it!" Elfo said, pointing at the chicken knocked out on the ground. "He pecked me on the face for no reason!"
Koga stared at the unconscious chicken. It twitched with his eyes circling in its socket. "For someone little as you, you pack one hell of a punch, huh?" He said, impressed. "Anyway, come on, Elfo, let's find Bean and Luci, then head back to the castle."
"Nope," Elfo shook his head.
"What?"
"Nope,"
"What do you mean no? You're high out of your mind, and you're assaulting chickens. Let's go," Koga said, reaching for Elfo, and he stepped back.
Elfo grinned and began giggling. "You'll have to catch me first!" He said as he turned around and started running. "Oh, give me a break, Elfo!" He said as he ran after him. Koga could hear Elfo's laughs as he ran into the crowd and disappeared. Koga cursed as he moved through the group of people. "Goddamn It! I can't believe this is happening!" He swore once more. "Elfo! Where are you?!" He called out to him. "Over here!" Elfo respondeeed to Koga. Koga looked to the right and saw Elfo standing on a barrel, waving at Koga. Elfo turns around and shakes his butt at him. "Nah Nah Ne Nah Nah!" Elfo taunts him and begins patting his butt. "Oh, for the love of god!" Koga groans and runs after Elfo. Elfo hops off the barrel and laughs as he runs off. Koga was catching up to Elfo. Elfo would then run through the legs of a few citizens to try and throw Koga off. Koga would bump into a few but shove a couple out of the way. Koga reached and tried to grab at Elfo, but Elfo would duke Koga, and Koga fell forward with a slide.
Koga let out a growl as he watched Elfo run off laughing. Koga gets to his feet and rushes towards Elfo. Once he was close enough, he would reach out to try and grab Elfo, but he was so quick and agile. Elfo was ducking, sidestepping, and duking Koga. Once Elfo evaded Koga the last time, he ran off, looked over his shoulder, and said, "You gotta be quicker than that, Kogaaa!" Then BAM! Elfo had run face-first into a wagon and fell over. "OOOOOOWWWWWW!" He cried. Koga walks over to Elfo and stands over him. Elfo, while rubbing his face, opens his eyes and stares at Koga. "Hi!" He said cheerfully as he waved at him. Koga reaches down and picks up Elfo by the back of his shirt.
"You know, you're more agile than I thought you were," Koga said, impressed.
"One time, Daddy Elfo chased me around the house after I got done taking a bath, and when he did catch me, he…spanked me on the bum-bum…."
Koga and Elfo looked at each other quietly for a moment. That moment was interrupted by someone letting out a blood-curdling scream. Koga and Elfo looked off to where the noise came from, and with Elfo under his arm, Koga headed to where the cry came from. Once they arrived, they saw a man trapped under a wagon.
Elfo giggled. "Aww, he's cuddling with the wagon!"
"No, I'm not!" The man whined, "It's crushing me!"
Koga and Elfo heard someone let out a dark chuckle. The voice sounded very familiar. "LUCI!" Koga shouts. Koga turns around and sees Luci go around the corner. Koga went after Luci. Once around the corner, he spotted Luci tripping and pushing people into incoming wagons riding down the road. The horses ended up trampling over the man, and Luci laughed evilly. Koga looked up, seeing Luci smirking and chuckling. Koga leaps above the rooftops and grabs Luci by his neck, causing him to gag. "That's enough with you, you little runt!" said Koga glaring at Luci.
"Something devilish has been brewing within me for years on end and will only escape through means of physical violence!" Luci spoke with his eyes red. Koga stared at Luci for a moment. He bops him on the heading causing him to groan in pain. "OW!" He rubs his head.
"Alright, I have you two, all I need to do is find beaver girl, and I'm taking you all right back to the castle," said Koga. "Now, where could she be?"
"HEY, EVERYONE! THE PRINCESS IS DOING TRICKS!" said a Civilian, and then a rush of people ran down the road to watch.
"Oh no…" Koga whispered as he hurried to the crowd. He pushes past a bunch of people till he gets to the center. Koga's eyes widen as he sees Bean juggling swords into the air. "BEAN, HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?!" He called out to her. Bean looked over at Koga and smiled. "HEY, KOGA!" She greeted him while still juggling the swords. "You know what? I've always loved juggling, but I've never tried it before with swords!"
"B-BEAN, PAY ATTENTION! Don't take your eyes off the swords!" Koga warned.
"You're doing great, Bean!" Elfo cheered her on.
"Catch one of the swords in your mouth!" Luci called out to her. Koga dropped Elfo and Luci, and he rushed over to Bean and shoved her back. Koga caught all the swords minus two that nearly fell into him.
"Jeez, Koga, you suck at juggling," said Elfo disappointingly.
"Yeah, you didn't even catch the swords with your body! LAME!" Luci added in.
"UGH, I AM SO TIRED OF THIS!" said Koga dropping the swords. "Ok, Ms. Beaver teeth, I'm taking you back to the castl-"But once Koga turned around, he saw that Bean was gone. "OH, COME ON!"
"She went cartwheeling down the road," said One random person.
"GODDAMN IT!" Koga angrily shouts as he, Elfo, and Luci run down the road. The three of them looked around town for Bean. Koga was chasing Bean for what felt like hours. When the three would end up fiding Bean, she was jumping over wagons, doing handstands on barrels, and trying to steal wine bottles from local vendors. Koga couldn't believe how often he had almost caught her, only to end up losing her over and over again. The trail that Koga, Elfo, and Luci would follow found them back at the castle of Dreamland. Once the three arrived at the gate and ran into the courtyard, Bean was not there. "Shit, where did she go?!"
"Hey, there she is!" said Elfo pointing up at the top of the castle. Koga and Luci looked to see Bean doing cartwheels on top of the castle. "BEAN!" He called out to her. Bean would then do a handstand on one of the stone edges. "Sup guys!"
"Hey, Bean, do a flip!" Luci shouted.
"LUCI, SHUT UP!" Koga screamed. "Bean, don't move. I'm coming up!" He said as he ran into the castle.
Once Koga went through a window, he appeared outside on the castle's edge with his back against the stonewall. "BEAN! STAY WHERE YOU ARE! DON'T MO-" Suddenly, Koga was hit straight in the face by a glass door. Tavish had peaked his head out. "Bean, what in the hell are you doing?" He asked her. Bean looks over at her older brother with a smile. "Hey, Big bro! Check this out!" She said as she began quickly switching the hand, she was standing on. Tavish's eyes widened. "BEAN! STOP, THAT'S DANGEROUS!" He said worriedly. "Oh stop, I'm fin-WHOA!" Bean's right hand slipped, and she was now dangling over the edge. "BEAN!" Tavish gasped as he crawled out of his room and onto the castle's edge. "BEAN, HANG ON!"
"Ow…my face…" said Koga rubbing his nose.
Tavish gets closer and closer to Bean, and he slowly kneels. "Bean, don't worry, I got you!"
"Hey, bro, you came out of your room twice today!" Bean said, impressed.
"Bean, give me your hand!" Tavish said to her as he held his hand out. Bean reached out her hand, but as soon as she did, her other hand slipped, and she fell. Tavish screamed out her name, and he jumped down after her. Tavish grabs onto some vines on the side castle and swings towards Bean, catching her before she hits the ground. "WHOA! NICE CATCH!" said Koga. Tavish lets go of Bean, and Bean flops to the giggling. "WOW! NICE JOB, BIG BRO!" She turns on her back and continues giggling, "Man, that was the best day I've ever had…without remembering a single bit of it.." She said as she lay up, looking confused.
Elfo, Luci, and Koga would join the twins as Tavish reached into Bean's pocket, pulling out the snakeroot. "Of course…you were on drugs like always…." He said as he gave her a stern look. Bean scowled at him. "Yeah, and? So what're you going to do? Tell dad and Oona?" Tavish just stared at her and placed the snakeroot in his pocket. "Why bother? You'll never learn anyways." He said as he walked past Elfo, Luci, and Koga and headed into the castle.
"Well..." Bean began besides that and almost dying, we had a fun day," said Bean
"Speak for yourself," Koga said, glaring at them. "I had run around town trying to catch you three. That was a pain in the ass."
"But it was fun, right?" Bean asked, grinning up at Koga
Koga stared down at Elfo before a smile appeared on his face. "Ok, ok…it was a bit fun. You got me." He admitted.
"From what I remember, I think I merked a few people in town. So I'm happy!" said Luci chuckling.
Bean gets to her feet and dusts her pants off. "Well, I could go for a beer after a nice drug session! Who's with me?"
"ME!" said Elfo and Luci
"Hell no, I'm too tired. I'm going to the barracks. I've had enough of you three today." Koga said as he turned around and began to walk off, "I'll see you, dorks, later!"
"Byeee!" Elfo waved at him. The three would walk to the courtyard and head into town. "You know," said Elfo, "You should thank your brother for saving you when you get the chance."
"Tsk, why? I'm his sister; he's supposed to save me when something happens." Bean replied
"Well yeah, but you always say he doesn't care about you or anyone, soo…"
"Well, he doesn't!" Bean said, looking down at Elfo. "I mean…look, you two just wouldn't understand, ok?"
"Yeesh, Daddy issues, mommy issues, and Brother issues, you got the full package," Luci said
"You should try talking to him more, Bean; it just really seems like-"
"Drop it already, Elfo. Talking to him is impossible, and I don't want to stress myself out doing it. I just want to go to the bar, drink with my friends and just try to be happy, ok?!"
"Alright, Bean…" said Elfo quietly.
Luci chuckles. "Brother issues."
"Shut up Luci…"
