Chapter 34: Arrival At Stark Mountain! Teams Galactic & Neo Plasma Go After Heatran?
During lunch in the Pokémon Center, Michael, Buck, and the girls were going over the plan of how to tackle Stark Mountain.
Buck - "Wait a second. So the only reason you guys are going to Stark Mountain is so Michael can battle and catch Lord Heatran?"
Michael - "That's correct Buck. I already know I'm not coming here once the League's over. So might as well get Lord Heatran now while the time's right."
Buck - "That's fair. I can't really blame you for having that line of thought."
It was then agreed on that the party would slowly make their way up Stark Mountain, being extra careful due to the giant lava pools near the mountain's entrance. Once lunch was over, the party quickly set off. The party was making good time despite how tough the cliffside on Route 226 was. Thankfully, the small lake on that route was much easier to traverse across. Upon reaching the eastern-most end of Route 226, the party turned north onto Route 227. As they began walking towards Stark Mountain, Flannery noticed something falling from the sky.
Flannery - "Is that ash falling?"
Kiara - "It pretty much is Flannery. Especially when how much closer we're getting to Stark Mountain."
Soon the party was at the foot of Stark Mountain. As they made their way to the mountain's entrance, Michael spotted a Team Galactic Grunt and Neo Team Plasma Grunt talking as they entered the mountain.
TG Grunt - "This is it! Stark Mountain! Now all we need to do is get deep inside the place. Let's do this!"
NTP Grunt - "Yeah, but… Can that old guy really turn his back on Cyrus and Ghetsis and take over?"
TG Grunt - "Yeah, I hear you… That elder Charon may be a Commander, but there's no way he can just outright replace those two as leaders. …Maybe it's a good time for the both of us to be done with Team Galactic and Neo Team Plasma for good…"
Mars walked over to Michael as he watched the pair of grunts enter the mountain.
Mars - "That doesn't look good if they're hear already."
Michael - "I'll say. But not much we can do about it right now."
Soon the party entered Stark Mountain, where they found Charon alongside a few TG and MTP Grunts at the entrance.
Charon - "Sigh… To think I'd finally get a break from you all being a bunch of thorns in my side. But like the old saying goes 'Beggars can't be choosers.' and as for you young Michael. Don't you even bother trying to interfere with us. Compared to the grand illusions those three have, I'm content with living firmly in reality. So we're off to steal the Magma Stone. Perhaps I can sell it to make a quick buck."
Michael clenched his fist in anger as Charon laughed mockingly while he and his group of grunts went deeper into the Mountain. Twilight then noticed the dark aura that was coming off of Michael.
Twilight - "You ok there Michael?"
Michael thankfully calmed down after a few moments.
Michael - "Just fine Twilight. But right now we need to stop Charon from getting the Magma Stone at all costs."
Cynthia - "It can't be that bad, can it?"
Michael - "Oh it can Cynthia. Cause if the Magma Stone is removed from its resting place at all, Lord Heatran will wake up in a massive fury, which could very well cause Stark Mountain itself to erupt."
Soon the party was deep inside Stark Mountain, hoping that they were in time to stop Charon's plans to steal the Magma Stone. Sadly, by the time the party reached the deepest part of the mountain, they found that Charon beaten them to the Magma Stone.
Michael - "We're too late!"
Charon - "Eh? What's this, then? Chased me here, have you all? I do like seeing that you children have tried your best, but too bad for you-you're too late. With this Magma Stone, I shall awaken the legendary Lord Heatran! Control of the world's volcanic eruptions shall allow me to extort money by the millions! Fear me! For I am Charon! The reborn Team Galactic's new boss!"
? - "Go, go, go!"
Suddenly a Croagunk appeared out of nowhere and swiped the Magma Stone from Charon, then returned to standing in front of a mysterious boulder.
Charon - "No! The Magma Stone! What?! What is going on here?!"
The unknown voice, now seemingly coming from the mysterious boulder, then spoke again.
? - "Excellent work, Croagunk!"
The mysterious boulder disappeared, revealing that it was actually Looker in disguise.
Looker - "Disguising myself as a boulder for this stakeout wasn't easy!"
Looker was then face-to-face with Charon.
Looker - "Now, old-timer, the International Police cordially requests your cooperation. I'm sure you must have a lot to tell us about the new Team Galactic. Sure the rest of the original team is still around, including Ms. Mars here even though she's already quit the team herself. But since you're out here all alone, I can happily pin the blame for these events on you and you alone."
TG Grunt - "Hey! It's the International Police!"
NTP Grunt - "Yeah! It's the International Police all right! There's only one thing to be done!"
TG/NTP Grunt - "Run away!"
All of the grunts then tried to make a sudden escape. But they were quickly stopped by the combined psychic powers of Michael, Twilight, and Sabrina. Meanwhile, Looker was still staring down Charon.
Charon - "Gah… What a mess…Un, International Police? What are you saying? I know nothing! A new Team Galactic? Extorting with Lord Heatran? Merely the blathering of this harmless old man! All said in jest! Besides, among Team Galactic's Commanders, I was the most junior…"
Looker - "A likely story. But there'll be plenty of time to talk about it while you're in prison."
But just as Looker was about to put the cuffs on Charon, a smoke bomb suddenly went off, blinding everyone in the room. And once the smoke cleared, Charon was suddenly gone.
Clair - "Charon's gone?! But how is that possible?"
Michael - "Of course they would show up…"
Ruby - "Who's they Michael?"
Michael - "The Shadow-Triad. Ghetsis' most loyal guard. Seems like he ordered them to rescue Charon."
Roxanne - "But then that also means that Charon's entire plan to get the Magma Stone was nothing but a distraction."
Winona - "While that's true. But at least the Magma Stone's safe."
Michael then suddenly pulled Looker towards him with his psychic powers as a fire vortex appeared in front of the Magma Stone. The vortex then disappeared to reveal Heatran.
Michael - "It's an honor to be in your presence Lord Heatran."
Heatran - "Thank you young Michael. It's an honor for me as well to meet Lady Arceus' chosen one in the flesh. And I also want to thank you and your friends for keeping the Magma Stone safe."
Michael - "You're quite welcome. But I'm guessing a battle with you would be out of the question right now?"
Heatran - "On the contrary, my boy. I've been wanting to test my strength against you and your Pokémon for a while now."
Michael - "That's great to hear. Cause we won't hold back in the slightest."
Heatran - "Good. Now come and give me everything you all have!"
Michael - "With pleasure! You've up Glaceon!"
Glaceon - "Right!"
Michael then activated his Battle Disk, which caused an aura to surround Heatran.
Heatran: Attack +1, Defense +1, Sp. Attack +1, Sp. Defense +1, Speed +1

Michael panicked as Glaceon easily avoided Heatran's leftover combo attack, which smashed right through Glaceon's own combo attack like it was nothing.
Michael - "I know I have a lot of confidence in Glaceon's strength. But now this battle just got a whole lot tougher."

Heatran - "Earth Iron Magma Crunch!"
Michael - "Shadow Water Pulse!"
Both attacks met in a quick stalemate again. But this time Glaceon was grazed on her right hind leg, causing her to winch in pain.
Glaceon - "Come on Glaceon! You're tougher than this!"
Michael - "You ok there Glaceon?"
Glaceon - "Just fine Michael…"
But Michael could already see that Glaceon was just trying to act tough
Michael - "Even though the blow was a glancing one, Glaceon sure took a lot of damage there. Best she can do right now is take a hit from PART of Lord Heatran's combo attack. Otherwise, she'll get knocked right out of this battle."

Michael's Hand: 4 + 1 = 5

Heatran - "Earth Iron Magma Crunch!"
Michael - "Shadow Water Pulse!"
Sadly, Glaceon was very unlucky this time as she tried to dodge, but the pain in her hind leg was too much as she was caught in the full blast of Heatran's combo attack, causing her to crash into the wall.
Michael - "Glaceon!"
Michael rushed over to check on the downed Ice-Type. He then bowed his head in regret as she wasn't moving. Suddenly, Glaceon slowly stirred.
Glaceon - "Not… Yet…"
Michael - "Glaceon…?"
Glaceon silently willed herself to her feet. Then she stared down Heatran.
Glaceon - "Don't you dare think that was enough to keep me down Lord Heatran! Cause I still have a lot left to hit you with in this battle! No matter what, I WILL help Michael defeat you and catch you!"
Glaceon's aura then suddenly flared, which reacted with Michael's Key Ring. Michael smirked as he already knew what this meant.
Michael - "Lady Arceus hear my plea! Let my bond with Glaceon bring forth the birth of a new power! Go, Mega Soul Evolution! Appear, Mega Soul Glaceon!"
Everyone covered their eyes as Glaceon's aura synced with Michael's Key Ring. Glaceon felt her aura surround her. Then the light disappeared, revealing Glaceon in her new form. While Glaceon's original body was still there for the most part, it also looked like she was dripping actual water from her ears and tail.
Michael - "Well this is looking pretty good for Glaceon right now."
Michael then noticed that for some reason, the falling water around Glaceon WASN'T evaporating.
Michael - "Strange. Could this be part of her new ability?"

Heatran - "Well you two have sure inspired me! In fact, I'm willing to be a good sport and let you get a free hit in."
Michael was examining Glaceon new powers and abilities. He then smirked as Heatran just gave him and Glaceon the win.
Michael - "Thanks for the good sportsmanship Lord Heatran. But I'll admit this to you right. You just lost this battle by doing that."
Heatran - "Huh? And just what do you mean by that?"
Michael - "Here's how! Glaceon! Mega Soul Alluring Shadow Ice Pulse!"
Mega Soul Glaceon - "Yes sir!"
Alluring Voice's Current Power: 80 x 1.2 (Wise Glasses) = 96
Shadow Ball's Current Power: 80 x 1.2 (Wise Glasses) = 96
Ice Beam's Current Power: 90 x 1.5 (STAB) = 135 x 1.2 (Wise Glasses) = 162

Everyone was completely stunned as Mega Soul Glaceon suddenly overpowered Heatran. Even Heatran himself was very surprised at the sudden turn of events.
Heatran - "What the…? How in the world did that sudden change in power happen?!"
Michael - "Ah, you actually noticed. That, my dear Lord Heatran, is what happens when you blindly let your opponent get the upper hand."
Candice - "I'm guessing this all has to do with Glaceon's new Mega Soul Evolution, doesn't it?"
Michael - "You hit the nail on the head my dear Candice. First is Glaceon's new typing. She goes from being a pure Ice-Type to a dual Ice and Water-Type. Then you have her two brand new abilities. First is Liquid Ice. When Mega Soul Glaceon know both a Water-Type AND an Ice-Type move, Liquid Ice makes it so that BOTH moves have the exact same base power, whichever of the targeted moves it higher. So Water Pulse's power was raised to 90, matching Ice Beam's base power. Then you have her second new ability, Frigid Will. If Mega Soul Glaceon's attacking an opponent, and they just so happen to resist any of the moves she uses, the type resistances for those moves are automatically flipped. Now while Shadow Ball and Water Pulse are fine due to both of them dealing AT LEAST neutral damage to Lord Heatran, he DOUBLE RESISTS Ice Beam and Alluring Voice."
Cynthia - "So then Frigid Will…"
Weiss - "…turns those double resistances into double weaknesses."
Heatran - "So what. Young Glaceon's on her last legs. Not even her Mega Soul Evolution can stand up to my power."
Michael - "That's true. If she were still a pure Ice-Type that is."
Heatran was puzzled at what Michael said at first. But then he quickly realized.
Michael - "That correct Lord Heatran. Now that Glaceon's a dual Ice and Water-Type, she goes from being weak to Fire and Steel, to taking neutral damage against them."

Michael's Hand: 6 + 1 = 7
Michael - "Field Card activate! Dual Weather!"
Fauna - "A new weather card?"
Michael - "That's correct Fauna. Dual Weather lets me select any 2 weather field cards, and I can activate them both simultaneously. And thanks to the situation Lord Heatran gave me and Glaceon, I have just the pair. I activate Raining Fortune and Howling Arctic!"
Roxanne - "We've seen Michael use Raining Fortune numerous times before. But this is the first time we're seeing Howling Arctic."
Michael - "Howling Arctic up the power of all Ice-Type moves by 50%, while dropping the power of all Fire, Steel, Rock, and Fighting-Type moves by the same amount. And both field cards heal a small amount of HP for Water and Ice-Types respectively. So in short Lord Heatran. You giving Glaceon a free attack completely backfired on you."
Heatran - "Say what you want! I'll still win! Earth Iron Magma Crunch!"
Michael - "End this battle now Glaceon! Special Sword, Fairy Sword, Ghost Sword, Ice Sword, and Water Sword! Mega Soul Alluring Shadow Ice Pulse!"
Michael's Hand: 7 - 6 = 1

The combo attack then connected, catching Heatran in the explosion. After a few moments, the smoke cleared to show Heatran heavily injured.
Mega Soul Glaceon - "Now Michael!"
Michael - "Go Ultra Ball!"
Michael then threw the Ultra Ball, which hit Heatran in the head and sucked him into it.
One shake.
Two shakes.
Three shakes.

Michael smiled as he walked over and picked up the Ultra Ball.
Michael - "We did it Glaceon! We caught Lord Heatran!"
Glaceon - "Alright!"
Glaceon then suddenly returned to her normal form. Thankfully, Michael quickly caught her before she could injure herself again.
Michael - "I've got you Glaceon. I'll carry you for the time being till we reach the Pokémon Center back in the Survival Area."
Cynthia - "There's actually a rest house at the southern end of Route 227. We can rest there for the time being."
Michael - "Good. Cause after that, we're heading for Team Galactic's HQ building in Veilstone City. Then we're gonna break out the Lake Trio. Right girls?"
Girls - "Yes sir!"
