(Start New York Venom War)
The Venom War was over as Spider-Man AKA Peter Parker watched the love of his life talking to Paul. After Venom had saved Mary Jane when her bracelet hit the triple skulls Peter was forced to stand aside again. It was a hurtful but for her own happiness Peter had to set aside.
The pair stood atop a building after Peter had carried and dropped off MJ after the fight. Everything was as it should be in Mary Jane's world and once more Peter would leave and let MJ have her happiness.
"Look Paul, everything's okay here and I'll be on my way home, soon but Peter and I-" MJ began as her persona of Jackpot but before she can finish a web line shot out from nearby and stuck to Jackpots back. Before she could respond the web yanked Jackpot away causing her to cry out.
"Sorry to say but you're not going anywhere except a cell." Came a figured in shadows as Spider-Man saw this.
"MJ!" Peter began but was cut off by a sight that shocked him to now end. Standing over Jackpot was a woman with hair as red as Jackpots own dressed in a spider themes outfit that hugged her curves much like Jackpots outfit did. Her mask was similar to that of Spider-Woman's when she was active as a heroine. What was more was the fact she had a child with her, one that Peter swore he had seen before.
"Hey leave her alone!" Spider-Man called out ready to save Jackpot. But just then the woman smiled over to Peter and then proceeded to remove her mask. When she did Peter was left in shock at who was under the mask.
"Hey Tiger, it's been a while." The face of Mary Jane Watson said much to Peter's utter shock.
"W-what another clone?!" Jackpot asked shocked as to who stood over her.
"No not a clone the genuine article." Mary Jane said as she glared down at Jackpot. Jackpot activated her bracelet as already she had flight active. She spun about only for the woman to jump away with the child close by.
"Mayday stay close to your father." Mary Jane said as she glared at Jackpot. "Momma needs to deal with an issue." Mary Jane added before putting on the mask again.
"Right." The child, Mayday, said as Peter expected there to be another man here. But instead, Mayday ran over to the now shocked Peter as she smiled at him.
"Wait what who are you?" Spider-Man asked and thus Mayday smiled at Spider-Man.
"I'm May Parker, but Momma likes to call me Mayday or Ace." May said as this got Spider-Man surprised.
"And while I'm in the mask… call me Spinneret." MJ said as Jackpot was surprised by this surprised. "And I'm here to take back my life." Spinneret said as Jackpot saw all eyes were on her. Mayday was glaring at Jackpot, Peter was in shock, and Paul was likely listening in.
"RUN MJ!" Paul voice was heard as he sounded panicked. Jackpot did not hesitate and ran for it by flying. Spinneret fired a web line and proceeded to give chase to Jackpot.
"What the heck is going on?!" Peter asked shocked over what he was seeing.
"I can explain things to you." Came a voice Peter recognized almost instantly.
"Madame Web!?" Peter cried out as he saw a woman in red with red tinted shades enter the area.
"But perhaps once Mary Jane returns." Madame Web said as Peter was kicking himself for not considering that she might have been involved with this confusing time.
(Back with Spinneret and Jackpot)
Jackpot kept flying as she was clearly in a panic not even knowing why she was trying to escape. 'What's wrong with me, she's an imposter so why am I afraid?!' Jackpot thoughts ran wild as her body was moving on some instinct to put as much distance between her and Spinneret as physically possible.
"Going somewhere?" Spinneret was heard causing Jackpot's eyes to widen in horror. Jackpot looked and saw Spinneret web swinging near her as she used momentum and the local buildings to keep to paste. "Besides a science cell?" Spinneret asked making it clear to Jackpot she was in trouble.
Jackpot cried out in fear and tried to speed up. But Spinneret predicted her move and managed to intercept Jackpot with a kick. Jackpot flew around wildly trying to get away only to find herself webbed and yanked to another building top. Jackpot hit the roof with a slam curtesy of Spinneret.
Jackpot cried out in pain before she then saw Spinneret land in front of her. She went wide eyed and reached for her bracelet for a new power. But a web line locking her hands to the ground stopped that. Spinneret walked over to her double before she got started to webbing her up. Jackpot was soon tied up like a criminal thanks to Spinneret as she struggled to get free.
"I'll take that." Spinneret said taking the bracelet from Jackpot.
"Stop that's mine!" Jackpot cried out as Spinneret then spoke into it. "Paul I'm coming for you next so you better start running." Jackpot said as she glared at the bracelet speaking via the communicator.
Just then Spider-Man arrived with Madame Web and Mayday as Mayday smiled. "Momma you beat the mean witch!" Mayday called out as she jumped and hugged her mother who caught her and hugged her back.
"Witch?!" Jackpot asked shocked that the little girl was calling her that.
"Was there any doubt?" Spinneret asked as she hugged her daughter as Peter just stood there.
"Peter, you have to help me!" Jackpot called out as Peter just stood there confused as all get out. "Who ever this girl thinks she is." Jackpot began only to have her visor webbed by Spinneret.
"Shut up you've caused enough damage already you little trouble-maker." Spinneret said clearly upset and then got down to it. "You've Peter enough using my face and voice." Spinneret said and thus she directed her attention back over to Peter.
"Be at ease Ms. Watson." Madam Web said as she entered the scene. "She is simply unaware of what she truly is." Madam Web said as she met with them.
"Ok what exactly is going on here?!" Peter asked and in turn Spinneret then smiled.
"It started less then a year into my time in that hellscape dimension." Mary Jane began as she recounted what had happened. "I'd been keeping a journal of my time there partially to keep myself from going insane and partially, so you have an idea what happened in case I …" Mary Jane trailed off as Peter heard her out.
"A journal? What Journal I never kept a Journal." Jackpot said but when she said that it almost sounded like she was unsure.
"Moving on, the Journal is how I was able to figure out the plan of Rabin for me and you." Mary Jane said detailing what had happened while she waited for Peter. "The more those kids were around the more my mind got confused and after reading my journal entries what I remembered and what I wrote DID NOT MATCH." Mary Jane said and thus Peter began to put the pieces together. "Paul helped me survive but I'd rather have died then let my memories be tampered, so I ran." Mary Jane said revealing what had happened.
"And that was where I came in." Madam Web said revealing where she came in. "I had discovered several things had been altered or tampered with one of which was your marriage." Madam Web said surprising both Peter and Jackpot.
"Wait but MJ and I weren't married… right?" Peter said as now even he wasn't sure.
"You were but an incident took place that robbed you of your marriage past, present, and future." Madam Web said as Spinneret then gained this guilty look.
"And because of this our daughter was taken." Mary Jane said as Peter then went wide eyed and looked down towards Mayday. The look in her eyes even through the mask Peter recognized it, it was shame and for a moment Peter felt it as well.
"What happened?" Peter asked and even as he asked, he had this sinking feeling he would regret asking such a question.
"May… your aunt she was shot by a hitman." Mary Jane revealed which caused Peter's eyes to widen in horror. "You blamed yourself for it and then you and I… we were approached by Mephisto with an offer." Mary Jane said as Peter felt his heart was ready to shatter. "We made a horrible choice to save her life." Mary Jane said as she hugged her daughter close almost afraid, she'd lose her again. "We sold Mephisto our marriage and with it we sold him our daughter all to save May's life." Mary Jane said which by her tone it was clear that just talking about this was painful enough.
Peter and Jackpot were both left in shock at this as both wanted to deny they would do such a thing. But the proof was here in the form of Mayday and Madam Web who had a solemn look on her face. "Oh my god." Peter gasped realizing what he had done.
"Mephisto rewrote reality all to ensure the contract was fulfilled." Madam Web as Jackpot had managed to knock off her web covered visors. "But Mephisto made an error in his plan." Madam Web said as she took the stage now. "Mayday was something known as an Anchor Being an entity of such vital importance that if she were to cease our world would collapse." Madam Web said getting down to Mephisto's big mistake. "When he realized what this meant he acquired Mayday and ensured her survival for the sole purpose of ensuring her role as the anchor being." Madam Web before Mary Jane spoke up for the woman.
"Allowing us a window of opportunity to get her back." Mary Jane said as she got down to the revelation. "This was how Madam Web was able to find me after I fled from Paul and those two young kids." Mary Jane revealed before Madam Web spoke again for her.
"Yes, we had to retrieve Mayday because the longer she stayed with Mephisto the more her position as an Anchor Being would be threatened." Madam Web said as she saw how staying under Mephisto's thrall would destroying all their timelines. "Once Mary Jane fled, I was able to find her and pull her from that world." Madame Web said before the next part got concerned.
"But how did you get spider powers?" Peter asked looking to Mary Jane,
"The same way you did, Madame Web and I found a radioactive spider in a universe where you and I got married and had two children together and it bit me." Mary Jane said revealing this fact to Peter.
"Wait if your Mary Jane then who the heck is this?" Peter asked gesturing to Spinneret the real Mary Jane first and then gestured to Jackpot the fake Mary Jane.
"I can reveal that." The voice of Steven Strange was heard as the group saw Strange had arrived with to their shock the Fantastic Four. The state they were in did not look like a welcoming picture to arrive on.
"Look before you guys blame me for." Peter began but Ben stopped him there.
"Calm down webs we ain't here for you." Ben said as the Thing looked to the group.
"Mary Jane stopped by and told us everything." Richard said which confused Peter a bit.
"Now if you don't mind." Strange said as he approached the imposter and produced a magic mirror. The Mirror gave off a magical aura as the fake Mary Jane looked into it. All was slow but soon enough it began her body shifted and changed as with her face. As the body changed the fake Mary Jane's hair turned from red to a brunette color as her eyes shifted from brown to green. Soon enough sitting there in the Jackpot outfit was not Mary Jane but Vanna Smith a blogger who managed to get a restraining order against Spider-Man.
"Wait who the heck is this?!" Peter asked as Vanna looked confused as she sat there.
"W… what did you do to me?!" Vanna asked as she looked at Mary Jane.
"Vanna Smith, the girl who has a restraining order against you?" Spinneret asked as she looked at Peter.
"Oh, I forgot about that… crap how far do I need to be!" Spider-Man asked but Mary Jane chuckled. "Wait back up why was she in your place?" Spider-Man asked looking to Spinneret.
"Simple because she had no one." Mary Jane said as she got down to it. "Rabin was in hot waters with his Gods because I managed to escape so he had to pick up an understudy someone to play my role while he carries on with his ritual." Mary Jane said as she explained to Peter what happened.
"Ok you lost me there." Peter admitted as he was having trouble keeping up now.
"Basically, Rabin abducted Vanna and broke down her identity so that she would think and feel as though she was me with the obvious changes stemming to make sure she broke up with you." Spinneret said as Vanna sat there confused as her memories began to resurface thanks to Dr. Strange undoing the magic that bound it. "She served no purpose and beyond her blog she didn't have anyone who would miss her." Mary Jane said glaring at the woman happy to have beaten her up not too long ago.
"Yes… I… wait how long was I gone?" Vanna asked as she was confused trying to make heads or tails of what she had endured. Her memories were all a jumbled mess right now as she could not make heads or tails of it.
"We'll explain later, but first we have another Rabin to deal with." Dr. Strange said knowing where Paul was hiding.
(Meanwhile at Mary Janes Apartment)
Paul was in a panic as he started grabbing everything that he could to escape. He didn't know what was going on, but he did know that Mary Jane or in this case the real Mary Jane was coming for him. He needed to find help he didn't know what was going on, but something had gone wrong. He then went for the door and to hi shock and horror he saw Spinneret waiting for him.
"Going somewhere?" Spinneret asked while she leaned against the doorframe. Nearby was Vanna still in the Jackpot outfit as she still needed to give that girl a piece of her mind after dealing with Paul.
Paul slammed the door closed and ran for the window. But when he got there, he saw Spider-Man hanging around upside down with a little girl wearing a spider mask.
"Your in trouble." Mayday said as she snickered at Paul. Paul soon heard the door open and then saw Spider-Man entering the apartment as well.
"Now Paul lets have a nice long discussion about genocide and stealing another man's life." Mary Jane said as Paul was against a corner cowering before the reunited spider family.
(Scene Break a week later)
Paul stood in his new apartment that was significantly smaller than the one that he once shared with Mary Jane. Mary Jane now outside of her Spinneret outfit was holding a few boxes for Paul which she unceremoniously dropped onto the floor with little care for the boxes fragile labels. That discussion last week was a very long one as Mary Jane tore into Paul and his every sin against Peter and herself.
"There you go all moved in." Mary Jane said dusting her hands off much to the hurting Paul.
"Please Mary Jane, I'm begging you to reconsider and give me a chance." Paul begged as he looked to Mary Jane who can snap him like a twig.
"I barely even know you not like Peter." Mary Jane said as she looked to Paul with a look of annoyance like Paul was a pest, she needed to get rid of. "Now enjoy your new life and all the karma owed to you." Mary Jane said as she left the room and slammed the door shut.
"You're making a mistake!" Paul begged but it fell to deft ears as MJ slammed the door shut leaving Paul in this tiny apartment.
Paul was left in the dump of an apartment after Mary Jane kicked him out. She was also helping Peter move in and were getting their locks changed when he got kicked out Paul also sported a black eye curtesy of Mary Jane, the real Mary Jane. He tired asking for the Jackpot Bracelet, but Mary Jane had already turned it in to Reed. Even if the fake Mary Jane had been made for the sole purpose to hurt Peter if she had enough of Mary Jane's memories then by all intent and purposes, she would never have had any sort of relationship with Paul until the fourth year of her being stranded.
Mary Jane suspected mind control was involved somehow and since Paul was not a mutant, she needed to look for other methods. As for the fake Mary Jane or Vanna Smith as, she had been called her parents had apparently filed a missing person report, so Peter and MJ had knocked her out and dropped her off at the nearest Police Station. If all went as intended, then Vanna's relatives will have been reunited with their lost daughter by now.
There was also the issue with Jackpot herself. Apparently, MJ didn't care for her doubles alter ego. As far as she sees it Jackpot was done and never returning.
Heading into the streets MJ smiled as she saw the bright sun a start to a brand new day. She was home and now she had her daughter in her arms again. Mayday's custody may be an issue but only a minor one for them to endure. After all MJ was getting her life back including her marriage to Peter. She had one last stop to make, and it was an important one. An overdue dinner date between her and Peter.
(Scene Break Peter and MJ)
The pair met up at the restaurant as they got a table, and the couple was sitting across from each other. "So, is everything sorted on your end, Tiger?" MJ asked smiling towards Peter wearing her old Spider-Man heart shirt and her torn jeans.
"Yeap Matt Murdock is helping us get custody of Mayday and Steve is getting his contacts to help build Mayday an identity." Peter said as Mary Jane smiled towards Peter.
"And Paul is out of the picture and out of our lives." Mary Jane said as she was glad this whole saga for her was over. "The new locks should keep him out and if not, well our apartment is home to three spider power individuals now." MJ said as she smiled towards Peter.
"And Shay and I are done too she was actually understanding about it." Peter said before he let out a sigh of relief. "I'm just glad this nightmare is finally over." Peter said as for the first time in a while he actually had hope.
"Not yet, Peter." MJ began flicking his forehead. "There is still one more loose end to deal with." MJ said as she then pulled out a box. "I've held on to this even when I was stuck in that hellscape." MJ said and thus she opened the box to reveal an engagement ring resting inside of it. "So, Peter ready to give us a chance to renew our vows?" MJ asked offering to Peter a chance for them to rebuild what they once had.
"MJ if it had been the fake asking me this… I'd have said no." Peter said but then smiled at Mary Jane. "But you literally went to Hell and back for our daughter travelled to the ends of reality to bring her home." Peter said making it clear that he knew what he wanted.
"No need to be nervous Peter." MJ said with a smile on her face. "I know you haven't met her, but Mayday knows you I made sure of it." MJ said no doubt having spent a while filling Mayday's mind with stories of her daddy of the Spectacular Spider-Man.
"I look forward to it if you'll have me." Peter said and thus the two began to move closer to each other as if they were about to kiss.
"Face it Tiger you've hit the jackpot." MJ said but before they could kiss a commotion outside was heard. Looking to it the couple saw what appeared to be Sandman on a rampage. The couple looked and then smiled at each other knowing what was next. "Let's change." MJ said and thus the two sat up.
"Check please!" Peter and MJ called out to the waiter.
(Later outside with the Sandman)
Sandman was laughing as he saw his victory was near. However, it soon came to a halt when he was hit by webs and swinging in was Spider-Man and his new partner/wife the Spectacular Spinneret. Sandman never stood a chance against two spider heroes.
"Hey Flint get ready for the new and improved Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!" Spider-Man called out as he moved to fight the Sandman. "Got a new pep in my step and a new drive in my caboose." Spider-Man said as he then flipped over to avoid an attack.
"And of course, the reason for that is yours truly." Spinneret announced as she landed on a flagpole. "Your friendly neighborhood Spinneret at your service." Spinneret said doing a mock bow before backflipping away from another attack from the Sandman. "And as of today, New York has two spider themed heroes defending it." Spinneret added as the two web swingers then moved in to fight. This truly was a brand new day for the life of Peter Parker.
